What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 33 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mixed (42 of 62 positive).
Players praise the game's concept and narrative potential. [1][2][3] Some reviewers criticize the execution, citing shallow writing and bugs. [4][5][6] Several players note the game is short but enjoyable for its price. [1][7][8]

Fundamentally, this game has an amazing concept. The first time travel assignment serves as a strong introduction to the mechanics and the potential consequences of your actions. Unfortunately, the next two assignments fall apart completely. The writers demonstrate a flawed understanding of history, geopolitics, and even the core concepts they attempt to explore. Instead of committing to a meaningful alternate …

This game has a great concept, but the game is realy superifical and the game developer has too little of the understandanding of historical and geopolitical context to develop such a game, which makes this game more of aparody than a real game. For example in the 1960 us and ussr suddenly become allies because european countries and china want to go to space????? The whole story of the game feels like it was …

So, this game is short - I beat it in 2 1/2 hours (this includes me beating one level twice and messing up one level four times...don't ask). NOTE: They removed the AI voices that were in the Next Fest demo - it is so much better without the AI voices, the assistant is no longer annoying and now you can skip text! Personally, this game was work it for the $8.39 sale price. I don't know if I would pay the full $12 …

(This review was written by a human, not by a robot like Globos. As a matter of fact, Globos has more soul than any glorified buzzword could ever) Pretty fun game, overall! The premise of traveling backwards and forwards in time to change history for better (or, usually, worse) and dealing with the butterfly effect that is the consequences, whether it be jolly absurdities or (literal) apocalyptic calamities, means …

An Enjoyable walkthrough. No gameplay mechanics needed to know other than obviously stupid things. As a fan of the Website Better World imma bit bias here but: If you want to spend a few hours exploring possible timelines this game is quite a decent steal!
Summarised from 34 of the 48 public posts collected about this game; every point cites the posts behind it ([n] opens the post) and the split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Updated Oct 13, 2026. How summaries are made
55% of the 33 Steam reviewers we collected recommend A Better World. The complaint that keeps coming up: shallow execution and flawed historical understanding. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

IF this IS the final BioWare game I'll ever get to play, then let it be a game brimming with HOPE, with the BELIEF in GOODNESS and the COURAGE to fight for a BETTER WORLD. Veilguard is IMO BioWare's most SIGNIFICANT game. It has no equals in this.

The first time travel assignment serves as a strong introduction to the mechanics and the potential consequences of your actions. Unfortunately, the next two assignments fall apart completely. The writers demonstrate a flawed understanding of history, geopolitics, and even the core concepts they attempt to explore. Instead of committing to a meaningful alternate universe, the game retreads history with superficial changes—like the internet…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Two of our games are nominated to @pegasesjeuvideo.bsky.social Awards!! 🎉 Wednesdays is a nominee in 4 different categories (yes FOUR) 🦈 - Best Indie - Best accessibility - Best Narrative Design - Beyond the video game A Better World is a "Beyond the video game" nominee 🌐
neutral · AI labelView post →If my story starting in next week's @2000ad.bsky.social wasn't enough to attract you, how about that @robwilliams71.bsky.social Henry Flint @arthurwyatt.bsky.social and Annie Parkhouse are currently producing another of those game-changing Dredd stories, 'A Better World'?
neutral · AI labelView post →I don't normally post negative reviews but I'd like to state that the developers had an amazing concept but executed it poorly. Not only that, but the game has seemingly been abandoned by the developers immediately after launch. Certain endings or paths are completely unobtainable due to soft-locks, and they have yet to be addressed.

But the biggest sin that this game made is that the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →10 minutes is all it took for me to be turned off by this game. Games are made to incorporate many different forms of human interaction to give a single unified experience. Whilst the game has it going with its "TVA-inspired" graphics, the lack of voice lines or any real world-building is glaring. The subtitles and tutorial feels extremely rushed and you are not able to really get your bearings. It wouldn't have hurt to get a voice from some random person they know to voice Globos. Being…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game just might not be for me, I appreciated the possible 'timelines' and outcomes that could occur, but the dialogue and principle gameplay wasn't entertaining enough for me. Having to constantly switch away from the terminal to click on the globe character and back again got annoying, it wasn't made entirely clear which buttons do what, or which decisions are exclusive to others. Overall the gameplay just felt slow and dialogue heavy (admittedly, you shouldn't get this game if you don't…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The original ABW Blue put my expectation wayyy too high for this game. The game feels restrictive and shallowed. The plot and choices are weird, like you have to go through loops and holes to make someone a famous actor, but you can just remove Richard Nixon from history outright (BASED) and nothing of substances changed, like what?! The Earth character (Globo?) doesn't even speak, and I don't want to read subtitles in a game where I have to read other things that's happening while the…

neutral · AI labelView post →Ill leave others to talk about the timeline choices as for me personally they seem fine, however there is a clear problem with the interface and gameplay presented. I constantly felt, "oh this has lit up i click that now," rather than every button having a purpose that you learn and come back to. I became frustrated that you couldnt click on a tab to see what they are doing at that date even if nothing substantial has happened yet, and you are often forced to click on another tab only to come…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Couldn't even start the game. i started it and it didn't give any instructions except for free view whic was to right click but when i right clicked it did nothing
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a two hour game for $12 usd. That's kinda a high price ngl. I was expecting at least 8 hours of content for that price.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it is mostly well-written and I like the vibe. My only complaint is that they didn't really build a branching narrative between assignments, only within each assignment, which makes it feel a bit hollow. It's like a 6/10, it's not bad but it's well-made and enjoyable enough I wouldn't reccomend against it either. It's the classical "Would be a sideways thumb if Steam had the option".
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game does not support ultrawide monitors. I had to change my Windows resolution to start playing the game 😅

The premise of traveling backwards and forwards in time to change history for better (or, usually, worse) and dealing with the butterfly effect that is the consequences, whether it be jolly absurdities or (literal) apocalyptic calamities, means there's a lot of replay value. And I felt engaged from beginning to end. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know if they're officially connected but this was a really enjoyable spin on the text-based browser game of the same name. It's much more linear than its predecessor--a necessary compromise to make room for the main story--and the game is easy to play with fairly straightforward mechanics. It's sorely needing an option to undo your last decision to minimize having to replay the same missions over and over from the beginning, but I had enough fun exploring the different timelines that it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an amazing experience that will really make you question your decisions and possibly your morals. For the price they are asking you cant pass this up, I loved how many paths the game has and I cant wait to discover more of them.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Devs abandoned the game pretty much right after releasing in November of 2025. They made 2 posts after release bragging about getting nominated for some undeserved awards. User interface is buggy, it's pretty easy to get soft locked and have to restart the game. I now intentionally avoid any content by ARTE France or Ludogram. Just stick with the free browser based text version of the game that is much more fleshed out.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very very cool concept and idea, very poorly executed. - The images and overall storyline is confusing and not well established and confusing. - No voicelines for the main buddy, the trailer shows voice acting but there isin't any... So you just read text every single time. - The game feels under developed but could but so much more. I NEVER refund games, but I requested one for this game because I do not see myself playing this game.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Smart concept! I especially enjoy the way the narrative thread fits with the changes to History. Also, Globos rules!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →@theropologist And it's a game created by humans, it's not a law of nature. We made the rules, we can change the rules... any time we want. #abetterworld #abetterfuture It's up to us!
neutral · AI labelView post →Arrogant, Condescending, Pretentious. Also, the most unintuitive UI I have ever witnessed in a packaged product.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Make sandbox mode in next update please
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short and simple but thought-provoking - and trying to get different endings is pretty fun. Props also to the devs for canning the AI voice.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely a game that's better with a few friends to discuss the what-if's and the make a plan with. I think the sale price is right on the money (was bought at 30% off).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You remember the cartoon character for the hit TV show Loki? You remember the agency that controlled time lines in the hit TV show Loki? You remember historic events that shaped the landscape of modern life? You remember Henry? You remember Anna? You remember the Alamo? You remember when I recommended this?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I tried the game as part of the Choose Wisely Festival. I love the idea and concept of how the game is described and what it seems to aim towards. I was a bit tired when trying it out which definitely affected my enjoyment as I became a bit overwhelmed going through all the information but also there were some mechanics that made it harder to enjoy which I hope they will work on. One of them being that, Globos doesn't talk - and the subtitles flew by so I kept missing that it was saying things…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is incredibly fun. Its fun to bend and twist history for the wacky results. Mascot's "voice acting" does sound like adult entertainment but that doesn't take away from how fun and how much I recommend this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is short but really nice! I beat the base game (I didn't get all of the achievements) in like 80 minutes or so. There is so much room for replaying and perfecting the game and I might try and 100%. Not anything ridiculously good but a nice small game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Purchased on sale, Played through 90% of the game in ~5hrs I like the concept, but it feels thinly written and underdeveloped, and the mechanics of changing the past needs polish. My major complaints are as follows: The environment does not update at the same time as travel animations occur, and there are numerous formatting issues in later missions. There is no way to easily undo a change, and you have to restart from the start of the mission again there is no way to unskip a message when…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed this game and think it has great potential. I’d love to see the player be able to leave their desk to walk around the company and check on tasks that need fixing, as well as some small improvements to the historical accuracy. It would also help a lot if the assistant could talk instead of everything being text-based, since it’s a lot of reading. Finally, adding some AI integration for more dynamic character responses would make the experience even more amazing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is so fun in it's alternate history shenanigans and the layout in the game scream for a vr port which I would be one of the first to buy!!

neutral · AI labelView post →it "looks" good, but playing the game I found the interface to be quite unsatisfying. the little helper earth ball thing doesn't even talk. the mouth just moves while text appears. they could have at least added some sounds to it! also on the first part, the dinosaur just stops moving if you don't do anything, because I guess they didn't think that people would not flip the switch and just look at dinosaur...
