neutral · AI labelView post →Another example that comes to mind: “Bill Cosby allegedly got so mad when Lisa Bonet told him she was pregnant, he kicked her off the 1990s “Cosby Show” spinoff, “A Different World.” She was the star of the show, too.
neutral · AI labelView post →“A Different World” (1987 NBC) is now on Netflix, and the HD upscale is... not good. The show was shot and mastered on video in 4:3. The version on Netflix is cropped to 16:9, and has significant ML sharpening and odd softening. The show looks both over-crisp and gauzy/dreamy. 1/
negative · AI labelView post →After I finished the wonderful reboot of “A Different World” some folks recommended I watch “Diarra from Detroit” and I’d just like to say THANK YOU. This show is black funny weird smart sexy and cool.
positive · AI labelView post →UPDATE: Netflix has renewed "A Different World!" That's such a great opportunity for the show and the writers, and I hope it gives them the vote of confidence to be even more ambitious next season. (And also to ditch that god-awful color grading, PLEASE 😩)
neutral · AI labelView post →“A Different World” is so timeless. Show could get a modern reboot and it would still hit today so long as Debbie Allen was still apart of it.
positive · AI labelView post →Family Matters became about the gimmick of Steve Urkel ”did I do that”. No way Family Matters would be in a class with shows like Cosby Show, Roc, A Different World,etc.. The buffoonery is the very reason John Amos left Good Times, because the show started to be all about JJ “dynamite!” #BlackSky

neutral · AI labelView post →I don’t care if you’re mad at Bill Cosby, the show & the actors on it & A Different World mattered to black folks. Especially Black Gen X. We saw ourselves in the characters on both shows. Especially Theo. Rest Malcolm & thank you for giving a face to being a black child trying to become a man.

And I just had to give it all up, because dudes a shit, and i'll never forgive him for it. I mean, among OTHER awful things.
