neutral · AI labelView post →Steven Seagal binge! Above the Law: You know folks, there are reasons 80s cop movie tropes have turned into memes, and THIS movie embodies ALL of them! A-. #MovieBuff #movies #MovieSky
positive · AI labelView post →Yep about to watch another 80s film. Above the Law with Steven Seagal before he got fat and was still cool lol. It's a great 80s action flick for sure #80s #1980sfilm #filmsky #abovethelaw #genx
positive · AI labelView post →I would agree it’s his best film, with Executive Decision coming in a close second. I think he’s got one or others that are decent. Above The Law is well made and Hard To Kill is at least enjoyable trash. It’s pretty much diminishing returns after that. On Deadly Ground is almost so bad it’s good. 😀

neutral · AI labelView post →Above the Law (1988). I have no idea why I was permitted to see it at 7 or 8. I don't remember the film much, but I've never forgotten the title
neutral · AI labelView post →I was living in the dorms when ABOVE THE LAW came out, and we went to see it 3 or 4 times. Hard to believe now, but Seagal was deservedly a movie star when matched with a skilled director (Davis in this case). Smart screenplay, great action, amazing cast (Grier, Silva, Stone, Rasulala).
positive · AI labelView post →The legend goes that Steven met the devil at the crossroads and offered his soul in exchange for musical talent. But it turned out his soul had a lien on it as it had been leveraged to buy box office success and critical praise for the movie Above the Law (1988).

neutral · AI labelView post →This song is not being played enough today. Play it, you'll like it. It will become your theme song! Pass it along! The song is called Freedom of Speech by a band called Above the Law. From the movie Pump up the Volume and if you haven't watched that, watch it.
neutral · AI labelView post →Steven Seagal’s film debut. Above the Law. Coming soon. #podcast #schlockornot #abovethelaw

positive · AI labelView post →Above the Law isn't just America's favorite Steven Seagal movie
neutral · AI labelView post →For example, I love the movie Above The Law starring Steven Seagal. It's fun and exciting and stupid and I enjoy it. I couldn't give a piss about whether anyone else thinks so. Eff 'em. Their opinions mean nothing to me.
positive · AI labelView post →\*pokemon battle music* JUDGE casts *Legal Action* on MAN-WHO'S-ABOVE-THE-LAW!! ... ... ... It's not very effective.
neutral · AI labelView post →No matter what anyone says, there are only two Steven Seagal movies that stand out. One being Under Siege, but the best one being Above the Law. Too bad Steven Seagal f&%^ed up his own momentum by being a prick. Because Above the Law was very entertaining for 1988 film.
positive · AI labelView post →If y’all want another stinker of a book that genuinely makes my history major ass reconsider if we should have kept the printing press or not, the screenwriter of Steven Seagal’s 1988 movie “Above the Law” wrote a self help book called “The War of Art” and it’s easily the worst shit I’ve ever read
neutral · AI labelView post →Under Siege was his biggest commercial hit, I think... But Above the Law is my favorite Seagal movie. Hard to Kill being a close second.
positive · AI labelView post →Here's the trailer. Definitely need to watch this. "Righting Wrongs is one of Yuen Biao's better known films that he made without film industry compatriots Sammo Hung and Jackie Chan." "The English dub of the film was released internationally as Above the Law." — en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rightin...
neutral · AI labelView post →Along w/ "Above the Law," it's the best Seagal movie.
positive · AI labelView post →When I saw what you chose I said "oh no" out loud. lol I saw this with friends in the theatre. Above the Law was his first film and was ok. He was slim enough and fluid with the aikido still. Everything after got worse film by film. i think Siege was the last one I tried.
neutral · AI labelView post →I went through a phase where I made up Steven Seagal movie titles since he's always MARKED FOR DEATH, HARD TO KILL, OUT FOR JUSTICE, ABOVE THE LAW. coming soon to a theater near you is MOWING THE LAWN, starring Seagal, set in 90s south LA, in a starter home with a small patch of grass out front.
neutral · AI labelView post →Davis also was remarkable at either getting decent performances out of limited actors (Code of Silence, Above the Law) or crafting a film that made the non-performance at the center immaterial (Under Siege).
neutral · AI labelView post →Next in the "A" category, classic 1986 Hong Kong action film Above the Law (yeah, I know it's technically Righting Wrongs, but I'm just going by the mainstream US release title), directed by Corey Yuen. Just a quick couple doodles of legendary Yuen Biao and Cynthia Rothrock.
neutral · AI labelView post →Davis directed The Package, Under Siege and The Fugitive. And he directed Seagal’s first film Above the Law. Many of the same Chicago-based bit actors are in all four films. 3 of the four are also set in Davis’s hometown.
neutral · AI labelView post →I don't have a physical copy of this one. I watched the Plex, which has ads but not a terrible print. The Seagal Aikido looks great in those early five: Above the Law through Under Siege. Decisive Power is more of a traditional martial arts movie.. www.justwatch.com/us/movie/the...
positive · AI labelView post →It’s not really aired as much. I only saw this as part of a 4-movie Steven Seagal DVD I bought. It also had Under Siege, Above the Law, and Fire Down Below.
neutral · AI labelView post →Unfortunately had a cameo in Above the Law, the Steven Seagal movie by Davis.
neutral · AI labelView post →I wish Lustig still made movies. I once read an interview with him about the making of Hit List. He said he often had to shoot around Jan-Michael Vincent because of his substance abuse problems at the time. A Warner Brothers exec screened the film and told Lustig it was better than Above the Law.
neutral · AI labelView post →Instead of Under Siege, might I suggest Above the Law. It's his first movie and arguably his best, as low a bar as that is.
positive · AI labelView post →I’ve edited this sequence to a lot of songs, but Hole’s Celebrity Skin has always been the one that fits the best. This is from the classic action film Above the Law starring Cynthia Rothrock and Karen Sheperd https://paulie.cool/rothrocked/
neutral · AI labelView post →Can do better than that. 1989 - Rain Man, No Way Out, Hamburger Hill, Cop, Monkey Shines, Homeboy, Niko - Above the Law, Ordinary Fascism, and a Delta Force movie (2, I think, but can’t be sure).
neutral · AI labelView post →Under Siege is bad-good. Above the Law is bad-good. The rest of them are just bad. I am something of an 80s martial arts movie afficionado
neutral · AI labelView post →Above the Law was a good movie if you don't bring future knowledge about everything that Segal does and says from when it was filmed until today into it. I mean it was cartoonishly racist at times, but it was a very effective action movie.
neutral · AI labelView post →#abovethelaw was an 80's film with two clashing underworld entities colliding & a rogue law enforcement or gov. agent in between which ironically like I said it involves hum** traff****//exto**** the not so pre*** side of modern poli*** so** individuals don't wanna ta** abo** 🤷💨🐺🃏

neutral · AI labelView post →earlier tonight: ABOVE THE LAW aka RIGHTING WRONGS aka Yuen Biao and Cynthia Rothrock team up! as usual, the best fight is in the middle of the movie, with real-life kickboxer Peter Cunningham ambushing Yuen Biao in his apartment youtu.be/SpyRRyQI2-4?...
neutral · AI labelView post →That's an excellent point. I forgot Andrew Davis directed it even though the success of Above the Law is almost certainly what made Steven Seagal trust him enough to be in a movie with big stars.
neutral · AI labelView post →it's VERY interesting how Segal's debut movie "Above the Law" correctly guessed that whole "the CIA was responsible for introducing crack cocaine to the streets" theory a full eight years before it was confirmed to the public. I wonder if Seagal knew something about the CIA the rest of us didn't.
neutral · AI labelView post →The only Chuck Norris movie worth a damn. Even Roger Ebert and Vincent Canby gave it great reviews. Maybe because it was directed by the highly underrated Andrew Davis (Above The Law, Under Seige, The Fugitive). Otherwise, the rest of Norris' material was just varying shades of dogshit.
