This would be a fun, immersive little ARG, if not for one thing... After only 18 months (at the time of my writing this), the game is already starting to show its age. It relies on some fictional accounts buried in Twitter. But now, since the platform's transition to X, I had to create a throwaway account just to get in and grab the data I needed to continue. At some point, you need to unzip password protected files …

This game is amazing, it blew me away from the first moments and kept me hooked until the end. Six full playthroughs later, I’m still not tired of it and its secrets, and every time I discover something new about it. Starting the review with a conclusion is not really something I usually do, but in this case, if the game piqued your interest in any way, just stop reading in order to avoid even the slightest spoiler …

This game is awesome and is a must for any ARG fans. Unlike other ARGs, there's very little hand holding on finding solutions outside of the game. Sure, there are hints if you need them, but you'll have to do some of your own cyber sleuthing to find the answers. As with any ARGs, I'd strongly recommend not using a guide - a lot of the satisfaction comes from cracking complex puzzles. With a brilliant story, lovely …

A lot of actors, musicians & creatives in general face this bullshit with increasing ferocity. positive · AI labelView post →The worst thing about watching Acolyte for me is that I decided to start Andor after watching the fourth episode of Acolyte (late to the game I know) and Andor has absolutely ruined it! 😂 The cinematography, dialogue, score, performances, style, quality, etc…is just on a whole different level.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is advertised as including ARG, but it's all incredibly unintuitive. The game does not help you very much in how or what to find the ARG information. It's fine at first, like googling articles or looking at the company's fake website, but then you have to do things like look at a website's source code, which the game does not inform you of in any way. Just to progress at all, I had to rely entirely on a walkthrough. At one point, I had to take an image from the game's folder and upload…

neutral · AI labelView post →I've played the Prologue and now that the game is discounted in the Autumn Sale, I thought I'd buy the whole game. However, it appears to be quite outdated, using links to Twitter instead of X which don't work, and using websites impossible to find because of the new algorythms. My biggest issue was, after viewing a guide written by🍒 Lilly (🌸◠‿◠), I was unable to use the password on the hidden caches. Therefore my game stranded and I couldn't continue without skipping steps of the story.…

They mystery is gripping and sucks you in quickly which is good. Overall its a great buy especially for only sitting at 10.99USD. I'm looking forward to see what comes next from the Devs cause i'll be buying it for sure.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Meh. I refunded this, The options in game are terrible. Can't even change text size. And it's not clear from the store page that the game runs in a small vertical window. The idea for this game is incredibly attractive but I have to pass.

At its heart, Acolyte is a game that offers a deep, dark, and mature mystery at a reasonable price. That comes with a couple caveats, however. Two of the bigger selling points for the game are the AI chatbot client that runs the game, and the ARG aspects, and those are really what I'm going to focus on. positive · AI labelView post →Acolyte is a mobile-assistant themed investigative game. Your interactions are primarily through a AI Chatbot-esque setup. With the most recent update the Acolyte is entirely voiced by way of a text to speech engine. Strong suggestion: ask your Acolyte for the user manual. Pros: -Interesting if a bit tropey story. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →while the concept behind this game is very good it is difficult to play as it requires a moderate degree of technological ability outside of the game. Also, asking questions and interacting with ANA need to be done in a particular way to be recognised which made sharing clues and completing the investigation routes tedious.

neutral · AI labelView post →Acolyte is a fantastic little ARG that unironically shows us a glimpse of what may lie in store for us in the future when it comes to interactive AI and machine-learning. Albeit not the first, nor the most though-provoking game in its genre, it's a cute little game that has an interesting plot that slowly unfurls as you discover more information. The only downside is that it will inevitably date itself; many of its resources are hosted online, such as websites, blogs, audio files and more.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Is there really a controversy about why #starwars #acolyte is not continued? I don’t get it. I don’t know why SW needs to be morally ambiguous, or why people want to role play as fucking storm troopers—have they seen the movie? The Acolyte is more of the bad stuff: confused, stupid story, unclear objective, abysmal, actually horrific morals: “If I want to express myself in killing others, what’s wrong with it? I deserve freedom!” 🤦♂️… (1/3)

Developed by Superstring and published by Pantaloon, it casts the player as a newly hired QA tester at Nanomax, a secretive tech company preparing to launch an advanced AI assistant known as Acolyte. From the outset, the game signals that it will not follow familiar adventure-game conventions. Instead of dialogue trees or…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've reviewed the game tapes. Acolyte has some of the best lightsaber duel choreography in live action in the last 15 years. It's snappy choreography and non-shaky camera work, not overly relying on cuts. Sucks we didn't get to see where that show went in a second season.
