What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 100 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Positive (269 of 339 positive).
Players note this is a remaster of a 2011 PSP game with minimal changes. [1][2][3] Many compare it unfavorably to its sequel, Undead & Undressed. [4][5][6] Some find the story and characters charming despite dated graphics and clunky combat. [7][8][9]

Don't ask for HIS measurements! Onto a more serious review. I wish there was a neutral recommendation but, since there isn't, I cannot recommend this game at full price. To preface this review, I played the original version and the plus version on a psp years ago. I love that Aquire has translated this game into English and ported it to pc. It makes it easier preserve such a great series. However, if you are coming …

I enjoyed Undead and Undressed a lot. The ridiculous premise is fun and the silliness of the fighting made up for it's shortcomings. This game is inferior to U&U in every way. Not that this was unexpected. U&U was the sequel afterall, but I was still hoping for a good experience. This is an utter slog. The combat in U&U wasn't good, but it was tolerable. The combat in this is ATROCIOUS. It commits every possible sin …

After a little over 80 hours, I've finally got the platinum badge. Now, I would like to mention that platinum isn't the same as 100% I am not even close to getting 100%, there's still so much clothes and weapons and nicknames and other stuff to collect. I just managed to get all of the Steam achievements, but that's good enough for me! And now that I've gotten platinum, I figured I might as well write a review. So …

Birthday gift from a friend. Honestly, enjoying the heck out of it. Enjoyed U&U, and while this is literally just an upscale of the original first game on the PSP.. it's great. Story is interesting, and I enjoy the characters quite a bit. Sure, the combat isn't refined but you can learn skills from books to compensate. Special area-wide attacks and so on. It's charming, that's for sure. Only real complaint is the …

TLDR Unhinged Otaku game, if you enjoyed Undead & Undressed you will enjoy this one. Basically a worse version of U&U, but the dialogue makes up for it. Definitely worth a playthrough or two. I say this with 100% completion, don't bother with NIRO ending or HOLIC difficulty.
Summarised from 34 of the 165 public posts collected about this game; every point cites the posts behind it ([n] opens the post) and the split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Updated Oct 11, 2026. How summaries are made
68% of the 100 Steam reviewers we collected recommend AKIBA'S TRIP: Hellbound & Debriefed. The complaint that keeps coming up: combat feels clunky and janky. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story, setting and music make this game really worth playing, although you may struggle to keep interest because of the combat. Akiba's Trip: Hellbound & Debriefed is a remaster of a PSP game made 10 years ago. What your playing now is how I assume it was originally played way back then. Some things will definitely frustrate you at times (I'm playing on hard mode to start with so it may be a bit different for others) but combat is definitely not as easy and fluid as it was in Undead and…

positive · AI labelView post →A little niche game brought over 10 years later to the west. Whereas Akiba's trip 2 or undead and undressed did. The game story is pretty straight forward and knows what it is and doesn't try to do anything special, the combat is pretty much how it is. you go and strip enemy vampires to kill them, But I say the negative is the combat is pretty janky compare to undead and undressed and you have enemies just attacking you every two steps where they atleast fixed that in undead and undressed. I…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was so PAINFUL to play, I got the first game as a joke for valentines day 3 years ago and honestly I managed to fall in love with it, just the simple beat 'em up mechanics were so good, not to mention the world building, you could enter so many shops and half of them sold items you would never really need, then there's the clothing customization I loved, the silly sidequests, the diverse story, the absurd plot that tried to take itself seriously. My hope's weren't high for the remaster of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's far below Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed in quality. Everything about this game is just so frustrating. There are quests that rely on random spawns, you can revisit same location multiple times before you meet your target, but game doesn't tell you that. When you fight on an arena, civilians will just wander in and stand there, waiting to catch a stray hit. Your sister sucks compared to the one from Undead. Combat also sucks. I couldn't finish it, nothing about this game is good.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unlike the common weeb, I do not need to go to Akihabara because I have played very accurate game Akiba's Trip which is set there.
positive · AI labelView post →A Time Capsule of the Decade Passed This is a game I have been meaning to play ever since it was released on the PSP. Even my friends recommended it to me back then. For some reason, it has remained in my backlog until now. Let's first talk about the graphics and gameplay. Well, this game was originally released on the PSP, so the graphics are from that era. But to be honest, it could have been better. On top of that, it's an indie budget title. There are a lot of .png files of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got this because I liked U&U despite all of its flaws. While that game didn't age well, it was still fun and had a lot of character. It was still enough to make me get all of the achievements again after doing so on PS Vita. This game didn't make me want to play after the first few minutes. Combat just felt very awkward and everything looks so dull. Quickly asked for a refund, I'm amazed that this cost more than U&U when it's nowhere near as good.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →AKIBA'S TRIP: Hellbound & Debriefed is a deliberately eccentric action-RPG developed by ACQUIRE Corp. and published by XSEED Games and Marvelous USA, Inc. that stands as both a time capsule and a cultural love letter to Akihabara. As a modern remaster of the original PSP release, it preserves the game’s unusual mechanics, tone, and structure with minimal alteration, for better and for worse. Rather than attempting to reinvent itself for contemporary audiences, the game embraces its odd…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think I have some ideas for the 250 followers stream (which I have no idea when I'll start that tbh) It'd either be a very bad game, Akiba's Trip (before Akiba's Beat became a thing), Merciless difficulty run of P5R or...just straight up Mice Tea Ya'll decide!
neutral · AI labelView post →Let's get the bad out of the way first. 1. It's rather overpriced for what it is. Get it on sale. This is a handheld game from 2011 with few touch-ups being done. It's especially weird that it is more expensive than its sequel which improves upon it in almost every way. 2. Audio quality varies in the dub, I think some lines had to be recorded from home due to COVID restrictions. It's jarring at first but I forgot about the issue entirely after a while. 3. Due to it being a PSP game from 2011,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very clunky controls, pretty much unplayable. If you played Undead and Undressed, this game is vastly inferior. It SHOULD have had the mechanics updated to match the sequel, but this lazy port had apparently nothing done to fix how bad it is. I returned it.

positive · AI labelView post →8) Akiba's Trip: Hellbound & Debriefed (PC) this game is ROUGH, but at its heart is a surprisingly serious and sincere story. it also has almost none of the suggestiveness that its main mechanic of stripping people would lead you to believe. you can tell there was a lot of love put in here
neutral · AI labelView post →Akiba's Beat Yes it's the same devs and brand and IP as Akiba's Trip, the game about stripping people in public. No it doesn't have anything to do with Akiba's Trip. Akiba's Beat is a Tales game for some reason, and yes it's good

positive · AI labelView post →I came across an Akiba's Trip: Hellbound & Debriefed collector's edition at a local retro game store for $50, so I felt compelled to get it.
neutral · AI labelView post →The story and characters are better in H&D than U&U, but the controls are better in U&U. H&D has a much more difficult final boss battle and the item improvement is more of a pain in the neck. H&D also has Mana (Eriko Nakamura) and Sena (Maaya Uchida). Maaya Uchida is my favorite voice actress. I first played this on PS4.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If there was a neutral, that's what I'd give this game. I bought this game because I liked Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed. It is an alright game, kinda fun to play through. My main issue with the game is that the combat feels super clunky and the PSP graphics really did not age well. But, it's about what you would expect from a game that was just ported with no real changes.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I actually found this game to be better than Undead and Undressed, at least in a few aspects: there is an actual villain route in the story (as opposed to just "choose which girl from the harem to end up with" that U&U had) there are NO situations where you can only pick up the boss's weapon within a few seconds' window before the game goes to a cutscene and you lose it forever (at least for the current playthrough). If you defeat a boss in this game, you either get the weapon automatically,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think that this game is actually pretty good... for a PSP game. I played the sequel first, and whilst I did find group combat in the sequel tedious, I didn't have so much of a problem with this one. Combat feels a little more janky in this one, but it's almost as if the game was designed with the camera angles in mind and feels much more balanced than the sequel. The story is nothing special but I did like the ending, and the game has a lot of replay value in the form of clothing to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved this game back on the psp, but I thought they would do more than upscale the textures, which look awful in 1080p still. It would just be better to get the Undead and Undressed port on Steam instead. I love this game but the jank models and animations clash with the hd textures. While the game plays janky, and that was fine for a 2011 psp game, he controls for mouse and keyboard make it harder to play than it should be

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of the worst action games I have ever played. Akiba's Trip has it all; unintuitive controls, horrible camera, unclear mission objectives, enemies that refuse to spawn, enemies that refuse to leave stage transitions and the worst combat system ever implemented. It is inferior to the Yakuza games in every single way and not worth a single cent. Any positive aspects the game has are all drowned away by the garbage Akiba's Trip has an abundance of.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really, really tried with this game but i just... can't. I enjoyed the PS3 Akiba's Trip so was looking forward to this, the dialogue is hilarious and i like the premise surrounding the story however.... the combat is unbearable. The combat is janky beyond belief and unresponsive, there isn't even a lock on function so 90% of the time you try to attack, one of two scenarios will happen: A) Your attacks hit thin air and do not track to the person you wanted to hit B) You get dog piled by…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah, I can't recommend this one. Now hold on a minute. Even though I don't like this one, I do like the first one in the series (Even though this is technically the first one 🤣). The game play for this game was fun, don't get me wrong, but the story didn't pull me in. - How the Characters Were The characters are the reason I have to tell you to skip this title, and just play the first one. Now I can't say that I hated the characters, but they were just so generic! Yeah, they were generic and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an interesting fighting game, that centers around you being coerced/forced into becoming a Shadow Soul (a manmade vampire with basically only one of the weaknesses: the sun). And now, after being rescued and gaining some measure of control, you are fighting against the rest of the vampiric horde. Thing is, to defeat them, you need to expose them to the sun... by stripping them down to their skivvies... or less... There is also a visual novel element to the game, as your choices will…

The graphics may be dated and the combat system may feel clunky, but this is a truly content-rich and fun addictive game. In a few words — this is a “weaboo yakuza”. For some, this is a typical anime game, but how well-developed it is, considering the original release in 2011. The city seems truly alive, as do multiple NPCs with different reactions to what is happening. The campaign with all the extras won't take you more than…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this, but at this price for this basic a "remaster" it's not worth it. That's the objective part. Subjectively, its not for everyone. Imagine a really janky Yakuza with weeabier characters. I can imagine a lot would like that. Even then, it's still a psp game, so keep that in mind for the price.
