Billed as horror due to events that happen offscreen, but more of a hybrid. Disturbing, dislocating, with stunning choreography and acting. (Def understand aversion to watching it, tjo.)

positive · AI labelView post →ANATOMY OF A FALL is an incredible movie with a hypnotic central performance and a dog that should have been nominated for best supporting actor
positive · AI labelView post →I watched Anatomy of a Fall (2023). Wildly tense film, framed excellently by the use of sound and framing. The bilingual use of French and English as a very driving plot point was so fascinating. I feel I rarely see films use that to prop up stress. The characterization in its run time was VERY
positive · AI labelView post →Watching Anatomy of a Fall, hope i get proper credit for being the first person to hear about this movie and think it’s good
positive · AI labelView post →We just finished watching Anatomy of a Fall & what an immaculate, extraordinary, devastating film. So many thoughts on language & silence & music throughout, the poetry of the camera, the subtle & sophisticated tyrannies of misogyny, it’s incredible
positive · AI labelView post →The courtroom drama is a beloved and established film genre. Anatomy of a Fall is a Best Picture nominee that feels familiar at first but immerses audiences in a different kind of legal thriller.
neutral · AI labelView post →We really have to start timing our film-watching around my husband's old-man-ness. The other night we started Anatomy of a Fall after 9.30pm and I might as well have said to myself "I hope you enjoy this half a movie you will not finish for three days"
neutral · AI labelView post →Some movie years have a Feel and I think last year’s Anatomy of a Fall/Poor Things/etc year had a Feel. The No Country For Old Men year had a feel. This year doesn’t have so much of a feel. I’m procrastinating at work in the bathroom lol.
neutral · AI labelView post →BTW I watched Anatomy Of A Fall this weekend (good movie) and for most of its running time I was thinking OMG LOOGIT THE FLUFFY DOG
positive · AI labelView post →ANATOMY OF A FALL won the Palme d'Or at this year's Cannes Film Festival and it definitely lives up to the hype. This mesmerizing mystery follows a woman on trial for the murder of her husband and the only witness is their blind son. Had me on the edge of my seat until the last scene. 📽️ #filmsky
positive · AI labelView post →This is a franchise that apparently was *never* a joyously brain-in-neutral tribute to B movie rollercoaster ballyhoo with paper thin excuses for paper thin characters to blunder into jaw dropping set pieces. I mean, what film did the critics all watch in 1993? It wasn’t Anatomy of a Fall, was it?
neutral · AI labelView post →Watched Anatomy of a Fall tonight Wowwwww what an incredible movie. I'm so glad I watched it! It's very slow but it really stuck with me about the nature of justice and the role of courts and identifying truth
positive · AI labelView post →The French movie Anatomy of a Fall apparently portrayed accurately how a civil law investigation works, according to this piece. If you saw it, would you say it was accurate? I'm not sure it represents Brazil, but it does show investigation by a judge. www.vulture.com/article/anat...

Zaman: a mediocre police film. Anatomy of a Fall: perfect legal drama. L'Horloger de Saint-Paul: B. Tavernier‘s brillant first film.
positive · AI labelView post →Last four on @letterboxd.bsky.social - that’s right, I chased Anatomy of a Fall with a Steven Seagal movie. Anatomy of a Dick.
neutral · AI labelView post →Film update - watched Force Majeure. Not what Mrs Ro and I would normally watch but we both loved it. Reminded me of Anatomy of a Fall in the way it draws you in, gets a conversation going. Highly recommended. PS: Neither my wife or I are ever going skiiing.
neutral · AI labelView post →Anatomy of a Fall (2023). Debatable if she did it or not (point of the whole movie), but she has an AMAZING sweater.
positive · AI labelView post →This is not an ingratiating film--much of the talk is intentionally empty and dull--but it's carried to a gut-punch of an ending by Marre's uncompromising vision for it and by a dead-on, resolutely unflashy lead performance by Swann Arlaud (so great as the lawyer in Anatomy of a Fall).
neutral · AI labelView post →It's the first perfect marriage movie I've seen in cinemas since Anatomy of a Fall which really captures 'oh, this isn't the first time you've had this fight, and you can see how they've got here and how it worked to begin'.

positive · AI labelView post →Now reviewing Frauke Finsterwalder's 2023 Sisi and I, a Sandra Hüller film that largely, but not completely, bypassed the US, despite the international success of Toni Erdmann, The Zone of Interest, and Anatomy of a Fall. (Available through Film Movement.) Opens with Portishead's "Wandering Star."
neutral · AI labelView post →Rewatching Anatomy of a Fall and holy mother of fuck Justine Triet is a master. I adored her 2019 film Sibyl - even did the commentary on the US blu - but the maturation in her craft between the two films is just extraordinary
positive · AI labelView post →The director of ANATOMY OF A FALL has a new film coming out, and the premise appears to be "what if Ingmar Bergman directed FREAKY FRIDAY." www.youtube.com/watch?v=mU0T...

Instead of blaming the wife, i point my finger and shout "J'Accuse!" at whomever recorded that steel drum version of PIMP, which should only be played when trying to break up a hostage situation.

neutral · AI labelView post →Yeah. I *hate* long movies, but only cos I can spot where cuts could be made to render them better and more enjoyable. If I can’t spot any indulgent fluff, and my attention is gripped, your film can happily be three hours long. I thought Anatomy of a Fall was exactly the right length, say.
positive · AI labelView post →Watching ANATOMY OF A FALL again (shut up, I love watching movies twice) and I really like how every time you think this movie has shown you the most French person alive, they're like "Actually, here's someone who's somehow even more French"
positive · AI labelView post →Only three other people in the cinema this evening for a screening of Anatomy of a Fall. What is wrong with you people? It’s the best film in years, as if Kieslowski had directed a whodunnit . Go see it! www.rottentomatoes.com/m/anatomy_of...

neutral · AI labelView post →I watched Anatomy of a Fall on a plane the other day and was thinking about how daring it’s now become to make a movie that has an even vaguely ambiguous ending and meaning
neutral · AI labelView post →So many questions; so many possibilities. The death is just one part of the puzzle. Me on how the acclaimed Anatomy of a Fall (nominated for Best Picture at this year's Oscars) slyly subverts the murder mystery genre

positive · AI labelView post →Wine Court inspired by the crazy French trial in the terrific movie Anatomy of a Fall. That movie didn't have a bored-looking courtroom cat in a turtleneck, but should have @thesimpsons
neutral · AI labelView post →Movie review. Anatomy of a Fall. A very subtle and powerful story of sexism ( I'm sure the town wouldn't have pursued her if she was "nice" ) and male ego ( husband just couldn't bear her success nor the social belief that being a carer has no value. ) Reminded me of witch trials. Slow movie, very much worth it. 4.5 hobbits
positive · AI labelView post →Anatomy of a Fall is a very unhappy movie. Would hate to watch it with my partner. Lucky me I don't have one so I got to watch it... alone... HAHA WELL ANYWAY

neutral · AI labelView post →well don't tell me the Germans can't make a rip roaring comedy...I just watched Sandra Huller, who gave us side spliting performances in Anatomy of a Fall and the Zone of Interest, in a film called Tony Erdmann, which looks a bit like a two hour long nervous breakdown - a real thigh slapper...

neutral · AI labelView post →Yeah, I feel like people in this thread are really slow readers. After a while, you learn to do both at the same time. it's really not difficult. I just watched Zone of Interest and Anatomy of a Fall. Both are in foreign languages (to me, an English speaker), and therefore were entirely subtitled. Both are beautifully filmed, and I had no problem completely appreciating that while still being able to understand everything being said. It was trivial.
neutral · AI labelView post →I saw ANATOMY OF A FALL tonight and let me tell you, if someone “stole” Greta Gerwig’s Best Director slot, it sure as shit wasn’t Justine Triet, because that movie is magnificent
positive · AI labelView post →Thanks to @bonniehonig.bsky.social I’ve now seen Anatomy of a Fall. It’s what I call a Real Movie. Incredible. Best of the year, ya know, if comparisons made sense.

positive · AI labelView post →Ironically, the only movie of the “sad affairs with subordinates” from the 2020s Best Picture nominees is “Anatomy of a Fall” which is a French movie with a gender-swapped version of this (a middle-aged woman writer who has an affair with a woman and might have murdered her husband)

A movie I sorta liked but fell apart at the end? Anatomy of a Fall, and I feel bad for thinking the end sucked.
