What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 188 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (735 of 836 positive).
Players praise the game's charming art style and music. [1][2][3] Many find the single-player campaign too short. [4][5][6] Some reviewers note the multiplayer is nearly dead. [7][8][6]

Honestly, it isn't a bad game, but I've beat the entire campaign in 4 hours, and don't really enjoy it enough to deal with playing online. If you like board game like strategy and don't mind having to deal with people online then it might be worth the price, but if, like me, you like to play your games alone - don't bother. The art style is cute, the music and sound fx are okay but repeat often. The game is heavily …

I seriously love this game so much! I could play it all day! The music and sound effects are great and the artstyle is so cartoony-cute for those little criminals. Playing against friends is really fun, but sometimes playing against AI's is a bit annoying. They literally cancel your every move in games with high difficulty level. I'm a bit curious about online matches as I've never been able to find an opponent - …

A brilliant board-game developed by a single person, and is maintained throughout the years. He still actively responds on Steam forums and the Discord server. The single-player campaign is very short (10 missions), but enjoyable nonetheless. AI is not very smart, so the single player random map mode is for trying out strategies and learning the maps mostly. Multiplayer mode is the fun part. There is a live and an …

Text Review: Pros: -Great, cartoony yet dark, cute yet edgy, angular yet bulbous visuals (It's a dark, criminal underworld caricature of Victorian/ Dickensian London) -Good, regal, Victorian-inspired music (Fits with the setting and visuals as it shifts from serious to industrious and playful although usually it's sinister) -Great, well thought out gameplay! It actually feels strategic or at least I, in my limited …

This is a little, fun game. The music is relaxing; the characters are cute; the difficulty level is about right; the gameplay is decent. It is a turn based strategy game that is not like anything else. It is not a card game and not a fighting game like Xcom. It is far less intense than Xcom. So, you can just relax and enjoy it. This game may look difficult at first. But the normal difficulty level isn't too …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's fun, kinda, but even by the second and third missions I was noticing how quickly the AI can just steamroll your progress. A single eviction unit can remove all your resource units from a building (that just took you three turns to fill.) If you didn't use a trap unit, you're out 3 turns. If you used a trap unit, you're out 4 turns - because the eviction unit got trapped, but the AI sends a fighter unit that can ALSO evict into the same building that is no longer trapped, evicting your…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Took me 6.5 hours to complete the entire game, and I'm not the type of gamer who whizzes through games. I like to take my time and figure out the nuances of the game and really enjoy it. There are online options and skirmishes where you can go back and play the same levels against an AI, but I like it when the story continues and you have more things to uncover and bosses to beat. For the $4 I paid for it, it was worth it. However, I can't recommend it at it's normal price of $15. Not enough…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish Steam had a neutral vote. I love this game's art direction, voiceovers, and overall feel. The gameplay is satisfying as well. However the enemy AI is just too irritating. Even on easy it constantly just undoes everything you do. Capture something, next round it uncaptures it. Make a thug, next round it kills your thug. Even fulfilling assassination contracts is irritating as if you don't do it exactly the perfect way the first round the enemy just steals it from you. Maybe I just suck…

neutral · AI labelView post →good premise. charming theme. execution poor. half baked then released. poor value 1 player campaign. online vs play sparse and not much fun. the game had potential and then they dropped the ball I really liked this game when it was still being developed. I finally bought it today. The hard AI is total cheater ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. super disappointed in the developers for this reason. there is no rhyme or reason why the computer should be able to do what it is doing from an equal standpoint. what crap.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very nice board game. The rules of the game are very clear. It's one of easy-to-learn and hard-to-master. Playing singleplayer is pretty challenging even in normal mode. But AI somewhat has only one strategy so if you get to know what it is, it is pretty easy to finish the campaign. Multiplayer is somewhat active but getting 300 wins is one of the achievements and probably hard to acquire. It doesn't take more than 30 mins normally to finish one game unless you think too hard. Multiplayer…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Extremely "on-rails" and shallow. The trailers have/imply more wit and charm than the actual game. Shame.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought this at an extreme discount. Had been wanting it since it came out, and was really excited to see the price drop. I was really happy through the first two tutorial levels, and then they introduced the mechanic that wastes your turns and can't be reasonably defended against -- the truancy officer. He goes random places, isn't visible on the map, and can remove any improvements on a tile you place unless you guessed he'd go somewhere. The one defense only lasts 2 turns, and isn't…

neutral · AI labelView post →The game had potential, and while the singleplayer mode was fun, the online mode is almost dead. The only thing saving it is the correspondence way of playing, which gets tiresome after a bit. Buy at your own risk.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I feel like they missed the mark on this. The game is fantastic in a way, but each match is too short. More depth, have the matches be more like 80+ turns each, and it would be exceptional. As it is...the matches don't have enough moves, which limits the possible options and strategies. I like the general bones of the game, but it's just the bones of what it could have and should have been. You need to hustle bam bam BAM as fast as you can, there's not enough build up of the sides. If there's…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game on good discount, so I will get money/ time worth. But to warn other players - single player campaign is 10 levels that are a bit luck based on what will enemy do, as after map 4 they are always in favorite positions. Campaign will take 6-7 hours to finish. Multiplayer unfortunately is pretty barren as game is few years old and needs another login/ registration outside of the Steam. Passable game 6/10, as it was a single developer and we always need more board games to play…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an iOS/console ported 2D turn based strategy boardgame with a thief/burglar theme. Pilfer business in an old european city and defeat your rivals. This isn't the worst mobile ported thing I've seen, but it suffers heavily from mobile-itis. Fixed resolution means the game falls beneath minimum standard for PC. The developer has the audacity to charge $15 USD for this on Steam, AAA pricing that gets you games like Pathfinder: Kingmaker, but it's $5 USD on iOS. Do these jerks think…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very enjoyable little board game that has few random elements, but some hidden/bluff mechanics. The theme and mood is great, and it's fun to play against others. The biggest shame is that the only multiplayer mode is 1v1. Would have loved to play 4-player matches. Still worth it if you like board games, though.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of my favorite games. The art is awesome and it's one of the best digital board games I've played
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was a surprise to me. Bought it as a recommendation from a friend and got it since it was on sale and cheap, but what I found was well worth the money. It's easy to learn, with a short campaign that introduces mechanics as you go and showcases the game's many objectives. You have a main unit that interacts with the game's tiles (that may give you money, lanterns or something else) and which returns to safety when your turn is over. Over the course of the game, you can buy units with…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is great, but the dev is lazy and killed his own product. We only have 10 stages in campaign, for a game this style, 10 stages should be "world 1", with 10 more worlds at least. But no. Developer said he abandoned the game, does not care for who did support him, and went to make money on another project. You can beat the 10 stages in a couple of hours, and no more to do unless you want to repeat a duel with computer. Ah, yes, there is a online duel match possibility. I did wait 3…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a fun game, but really short if you're playing the single-player campaign. Buy it if it's on a deep sale, otherwise I'd take a pass.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →not generally my type of game, its pretty much a small-scale board game, 2 type resource farm/management, combat by numbers, some stealth, claim and reclaim territories. Campaign makes it really easy to learn, curve jumps when you dont expect it, but no major challenges, very casual. Its alright though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent game, real little gem. Easy to learn, simple rules, but the result is quite complex strategic interaction. The challenge level is enough to keep your absorbed – but without undue stress. Elegant graphics, very functional interface – the game doesn't waste your time. Very atmospheric. In short, fun to play. The team of game developers seem to have great potential – I am looking forward either to further enhancement of "Antihero" (obviously bigger maps; longer research tree; opponents…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Whoever designed the Gashford level is a dumb ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wannabe. Too stupid or delusional to design a level properly and apparently not even professional enough to playtest it. Halfway through the campaign and the game suddenly switches from easy to impossible. There's absolutely no amount excuse for how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bad this level is. I was gonna recommend this to friends but now I'm uninstalling and moving it to the "Don't bother" collection.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, but sadly the multiplayer is dead.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the most brilliant turn based games ever. Still has a fairly active community (at least for non-live matches).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has some unique mechanics and some nice art. Unfortunately, the game-play mechanics are very shallow and are very easy to learn and get bored of. The game also suffers from a serious lack of content. It was entertaining for 1 hour though.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good little board game. Graphics are cool and software runs without bugs. Mechanics is easy to learn and fast to master: player controls a thief guild and must to enhance it for reach certain victory points by different ways before his rival get them: steal gold, pay bribes, occupy buildings, kill foes. Gameplay is funny and quick, 10 to 15 turns average per session. Locations and characters look like the "Oliver Twist" book and "Gangs of New York" film. The single player main campaign, with…

neutral · AI labelView post →Worth it's price tag on a sale, definitely feels like it needs an expansion. Calling itself a "fast paced" digital board game while it is anything but. Having free roam of the map just by scouting gives the strategy a childish back and forth similar to tic tac toe in which you evict enemy units and place your own and guard otherwise they will do the same to you. Maybe if by placing safehouses that require a unit inside to allow a given area as traversable for other units would help.

neutral · AI labelView post →So I actually ended up enjoying this game, but this is far from "fast-paced." Perhaps it's because I was super new to the game and just trying to figure it out with a bud, but there were often times were it felt like turns could take upwards of 15 minutes at a time. I know I'm nitpicking, but it feels disingenuous to say it's fast-paced when the game feels like a slower session of Civ5. That said, you can get THROUGH an entire session of this game quickly in that the end objectives are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So I'm writing this solely from the perspective of getting it for the singleplayer/skirmish. So if you're interested in Mplayer, maybe check another review. I'm not going to get you the right information to make an informed decision. For a game where you would want to think a lot, there is both too much RNG and also not enough to think about. It feels like I'm supposed to be predicting where the enemy will go and what they will do, but I can't know that information (without studying the levels…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Addicting and quite fun! Easy to learn, hard to master!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little game. Short, but worth the buy. Not worth replaying once you've completed the campaign. All DLCs are purely cosmetic skins. Do not buy DLC.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nice tactical turn based tabletop game. but very short, one-two evenings. no character/base development during campaign. would recommend on very deep discount around couple of bucks
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a good game, but very short and despite its brevity it gets repetitive. On heavy discount I recommend it, otherwise no. The multiplayer could be great fun as well, if there were more players. Most of my "play time" comes for waiting in the lobby for others to make their moves. Which speaks to the core quality of the game, but also to the fact that you will never find anyone to play with. The single player campaign play time on hard mode is about 4 to 5 hours only. Still a decent game,…
