A well-crafted Norse horror adventure, though some find it repetitive.
Players praise the game's fusion of Norse mythology and science fiction, creating a striking and atmospheric world. The story is described as captivating and intriguing, with many enjoying the blend of horror and exploration. [3][4][7]
However, some critics find the gameplay repetitive and overly reliant on darkness and stealth. The game is often described as a walking simulator with limited combat, and a few players found the experience dull or frustrating. [8][33][34]

neutral · AI labelView post →I am so sorry I can't bring myself to leave a good review. Don't read it as "it's a bad game" but really just "I wouldn't tell you to take time to play it" The art is good The concept is good But it all falls short. (please take it from someone who is used to horror games, it can be very good for others!) I couldn't get involved in the story so the end was a no no (and yet it is nordic mythology); and it was also a no no cause it couldn't be more obvious. The monsters were (some of them) good…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →what an amazing game, great atmosphere interesting story mild horror, 10/10 loved it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Humanity tried to unravel the mysteries of Yggdrasil through science, only for the gods to answer that hubris with horror. Its fusion of Norse mythology and science fiction creates a striking world, though the journey through it can feel somewhat conventional and occasionally exhausting.

neutral · AI labelView post →Heya! Been primarily playing Hades 2 and FFT. Both amazing. Played a few hours of Apsulov, a walking simulator-ish Nordic mythology meets sci-fi horror game. It's pretty campy and janky at times but also interesting. Curious to see how it pans out. Stay well all!
neutral · AI labelView post →Spent 90% of my time playing in darkness, vents, or both. They give you a cool sight thing, but it only lets you see a few feet in front of your face. I'm overly sick of every horror game thinking they need darkness to create tension. Which is disappointing because there seems like there could of been something cool here. Let me know if you all add a "brightly lit" edition and I'd love to give it another try.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this one seems to have garnered a fair bit of praise from indie horror fans upon its release in 2019, but after spending a few hours playing it, I'm honestly not sure why. Sure, a sci-fi take on Norse mythology is novel territory for a horror game (though not for gaming in general, though nobody likes to be reminded of Too Human), but otherwise, it's just dull all around: from the level design, to the exposition dumps, to the enemy design, to the unenjoyable stealth mechanics, to the "shoot…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pleasant aesthetics, top-notch tension, reasonable interactions and the legs (full body)! Cool savegame-animation, nice respawn-mechanics, even the cheat-vision is beautifully designed here. Great work! positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Happy Solstice! We’re playing a Scandinavian Scifi Horror game tonight called Apsulov ^v^ twitch.tv/Psyruu
neutral · AI labelView post →The game is focused on stealth and puzzles, it features nordic mythology as your main antagonist and the setting is mixed with science fiction. It is somehow reminds me of SOMA in a good way and a little bit of DOOM 2016 here and there.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The mix of sci-fi and mythology is an interesting story concept, the environment are well done, but that's about it. Sadly you can't really plunge in either of them because you spend most of the game crawling in literally pitch black tunnels, being able to interact only with doors, and empty closets. The weapon you get soon become frustrating to use and, as you progress, the whole game become a chore of go-there, push-the-button, get-back. The light and color work are just bad and dull. I can…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm a sucker for Nordic mythology and story-driven walking simulator horror games so the moment I saw this one, I was like gimme! I don't usually like weapons in horror games, but Jarngreipr was really fun. Went through the "I don't want it" :c upon receiving it, and "plz give it bacc" :c upon losing it -pipeline. Generous amount of power cells and places to recharge, at least on seer difficulty. Awesome atmosphere and music. Old myths and sci-fi make a surprisingly delicious match. Jumpscares…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It’s a walking sim featuring stealth sections, as well as more action-oriented moments as you progress and acquire upgrades. An extremely slow start holds back the second half of the game, which is far superior. I expected pure horror—like the studio's previous attempt—but it still features a fantastic setting that blends Norse mythology with science fiction, along with the occasional jump scare. Recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting concept, but in the end it is a very simple walking simulator. The dark green and black color scheme and intriguing mytho-futuristic visuals combined with the quick pseudo-linear traversal of the environment made this game somewhat hypnotic and kept me playing through to the finish. worth a play through if your backlog is clear :)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not just is the game well made, one would want it to last a little more. As its not exactly scaring the player but lets the player solve the game character's fears better than a few other games out there.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A bit beyond mix so I give it positive. It starts well, reminds me of the opening of Dead Space I played a couple years ago, then the game goes bad. For a point it's a walking sim where the player follows a designed path, picks up recordings and tries to figure out what happened to the 9 worlds and why the monsters. It's highly repeated as player goes through and return tunnels multiple times, venturing only using sonar to see around for a few seconds before things go back to pure darkness.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good and entertaining game. A bit of Soma and HalfLife1 in it´s core vibe. 8/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Huh, imagine playing God of War, Hellblade and watching Stargate episodes actually paying off in some random game. I can more or less follow what's going on. It's like Amnesia Rebirth if it took place in the Stargate universe. Pretty good! Edit: almost finished with the game. This definitely has some Reynolds-esque scifi flavor to it. It's pretty rad, gameplay is different. It works, but it's different. The whole game is rather different. Also, important tip! To "shoot" enemies, you just…

Are you a fan of story-based RPGS with a rich atmosphere and interesting new mechanics? Or maybe you like starting as a helpless mortal who has to hide and run who then learns to wield the power of the gods? Whatever the case, you should definitely play this game. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A cool idea, mixing futuristic sci-fi with Norse mythology, and the setting does a lot of the work. Waking up in a cold, industrial facility tied to Yggdrasil is interesting, even if the story is hard to follow at times. The horror is mostly atmospheric rather than scary, and the gameplay is pretty basic. Some parts drag, but it never feels outright bad. Overall, it’s fine. Not something I loved or hated, just an okay horror game with a unique theme.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Apsulov : End of gods is an exploration game. It isn’t merely a walking simulator, as there will be parts where you will have to evade, or later on even confront enemies. If you like to explore sci-fi mixed with dark fantasy environments, picking up lore (audio logs / cut scenes), you will like this game. I played the game on normal difficulty (i.e. viking). That means most of the times you will “die” in two hits from the enemies. Technically you get a second chance, by being transported to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thank you all for such an amazing stream! Game was different from the normal but.... We had a blast! Will finish it next week! Game: Apsulov - The End of Gods
positive · AI labelView post →Good Morning Kits! Tonight we are playing a new game! Apsulov is a Norse Mythology horror game and I am super excited to give it a try! Stream starts at 7pm EST hope to see yall there <3
neutral · AI labelView post →Apsulov: End of Gods is a great short horror game probably 5 to 7 hours long. It has pull on the horror-adventure game concept which mixes science fiction and Nordic mythology which is an amazing really experience. Game play-wise it is a lot like SOMA : walking, listening to audio files. But the story is very captivating, so I hope they make a second game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dauði ok Rættr I. Awakening I woke with pain blooming inside my skull. A metallic voice welcomed me— cold, precise— into this sanctuary where unseen eyes were already watching. I looked down at my dress: blue threaded with red, golden embroidery tracing symbols I did not yet deserve to understand. My arms were marked with tattoos, their meaning sealed away, as if my own skin knew more than I did. I tried to speak. My throat was ruined— shattered, empty of sound. Then the voice intervened.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR: While it has its moments, it's mostly a letdown. I took a chance on this game, because at the time of the purchase, the reviews were a lot more mixed than they are now. Considering how short the game is, I'll get right into it. Story: There's a huge focus on Norse mythology, almost to a point that it becomes comical. While it can be very interesting to lean into a mythology type, you have to make it all stick together. Having played too many games to remember, I tend to look for links…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the concept for the game and the story was intriguing. I never would have thought to combine Viking mythology and future tech. The game in itself is bit basic almost a walking simulator with some combat and puzzle elements but that doesn't hinder the game at all. The exploration was bit minimal but there is still replay value and this feels like a game someone would like to speedrun.

neutral · AI labelView post →I'm bored of giving chances to this ♥♥♥♥ game I was OK with sad models, with so-so sounds and too dark visuals But finally I've pissed off with that common combo of ♥♥♥♥ level design with rare save-points
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What an amazing game, it was so good A mix of good story and horror + Graphic + Audio + Horror + Boss fight + movement 10/10 <3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's unlikely that anyone will be blown away by Apsulov: End of Gods. But it's a well-made horror adventure that holds your attention till the end credits. Apsulov: End of Gods is highly recommended if you are a fan of Norse mythology and are interested in witnessing the genre's successful integration into a sci-fi setting of the future. Others may join in as well, especially if they are fans of other unique games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a well‑paced, atmospheric experience that knows its limits and doesn’t overstay its welcome. The blend of Norse mythology and light horror works well, with strong music, decent performances, a couple of effective jump scares, and gameplay that occasionally evokes a lighter Alien: Isolation. The forgiving death system and interesting story kept things moving, making it easy to stay engaged without frustration. 3/5 jötnar.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Apsolute trash game, i wasted 4 euro, only good thing is Art design. Game-play is trash because you dont have weapons and enemy is everywhere, you cant hide only ran, and that is not fun. Latter in game you get weapon but it is to weak for enemy, so i give up and uninstall game, i will never play it again. Unfortunately cant refund, 3/10,
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I barely play horror much less finish them, but I did finish this one. the monsters were creepy, even just standing. the story was good and different, although the wolf character seemed very important to the story and at a certain point stops being mentioned at all, I felt really bad for him. I also liked the visuals mostly, especially helheim and the giants.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story is pretty good, but the gameplay is horrendous.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game would have been a steal full price and i got it for 3.99. I feel like i am ROBBING these developers. The jumpscares? *chefs kiss* the mythology? *chefs kiss* the graphics? pretty f*ing incredible. I can't believe i stumbled into this game just puttering around a sale. it's been such a treat.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The voice acting is a little meh, but it's an indie game so you can't really fault them for that. It's a fun horror-adventure game that has a new, interesting take on Nordic mythology as you go from domain to domain. It's not as scary as I first expected it to be, so don't expect to be at the edge of your seat the whole time, but I did get startled pretty good a few times so you'll definitely get some good moments. I feel like I definitely rushed through the game since there's rooms and areas…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the greatest experiences in my life. I though that only the developers who made Prey (2006) were the only ones who came up with such a unique idea, but I was wrong. From defensive pace to more offensive pace... From pure scary horror experience to pure god like action. Even with it's very minor flaws, I just forgot about them, because these flaws do NOT break the experience. I can only recommend it. Thank You So MUCH, for making this game! I am about to post the stream I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I finally finished Apsulov for first time!! Now I can finally say how much that I loved it!! THIS GAME IS AWESOME!!! I really enjoyed it!! I was very intrigued by the story too. I absolutely enjoyed everything about it!! Very cool game! I love the Norse Mythology stuff with this horror game a lot. It's awesome!! :) I enjoyed both Unforgiving and Apsulov!! Very cool horror games!! Happy Birthday Apsulov!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an interesting Game, This is the first-ever Horror game I completed. It's gotten me excited to try a different one. I am always fearful of horror games but this one was surprisingly good. I recommend trying.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A horror-adventure game which mixes science fiction and nordic mythology. I really liked the experience. Gameplay-wise its a lot like SOMA : walking, listening to audio files. But in this game you can actually fight the monsters back (or demons, whatever)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →These developers are super amazing and wholesome (which is a fun thing to be able to write as a review on a horror game. Really can't recommend this game enough!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is such an interesting and good game. Why is it so unknown? If you like horror, a good story and exploring this is for you. It needs way more love and hype on Steam and Twitch. I had a great time playing it :3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's mainly a horror/stealth game with some twists. The story and the world were interesting. The gameplay is basic but fun enough. It didn't overstay it's welcome. I liked it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game felt like if Soma and god of war had a baby. The world building is amazing, i spent alot of the game admiring most of the environments and the game play is really fun. I also thought the story was fantastic. I really like angry demon studios as their games are extremely unique which is hard to find. If you like this game please go play unforgiving.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a truly remarkable game that excels in every aspect. The visuals are stunning, the sound design is haunting, and the storyline is immersive and intriguing. The attention to detail is impressive, with each environment feeling uniquely crafted and the lore fully fleshed out. This game is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a captivating and atmospheric horror experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of the better games I played for sure. Polished, runs well and looks well. The story is interesting and doesn't overstay it's welcome.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like their previous game, the studio has once again mastered the mythological setting with a perfectly crafted horror atmosphere. It feels short—I finished it in 4-5 hours (taking my time exploring), but it's such an enjoyable experience that it leaves you wanting to dive in again. HIGHLY recommended, especially if you like horror, Norse mythology, or aetherpunk.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →THIS GAME IS AWESOME!!! I loved playing through this game and I intend to play it again on GOD mode to try and unlock everything!! I heavily recommend this game for it's visuals, atmosphere, story, and basically everything because it truly is an amazing game! I really hope the developers continue to make more games like this because I can tell they put a lot of effort and research into this game alone and I would absolutely love to play more games from them in the future!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The premise of the game is pretty nice, but the game didnt really hook me. Most of the time i was mostly rather bored. I dont know what the reason is but, its just wasnt for me. For me the price is a bit too much. Still pretty recommendable
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Platinum #196 Apsulov: End of Gods - picked this game up for cheap and really like the style, creepy and good story. God difficulty is a nice and good challange though, some nice twists :)
positive · AI labelView post →Part walking simulator, part horror game. It's a blend of styles with the story being it's most important aspect. This techno viking sci-fi game exceeds mostly in atmospheric storytelling and visual faire, more than in it's gameplay. It was a nice indie trip I gotta say. 3.5/5
