this is a super fun fantasy visual novels for all enjoyers of the genre. it's witty, thoughtful, and just like any good fantasy, comments on and parallels our real world. for anyone who wants them, here are my pros and cons. pros: - the character arcs are great. it's so interesting to see them grow as people, and it's a lot more rewarding that we get the choice to influence their pathways and their choices, just as …

• The VA is amazing. • The story was thrilling. • All of the characters are well written. • I want Victoria to pin me against the wall. • I love it when VNs allow character customization! • The personality system is neat imo.

A nicely put together little visual novel with a story whose themes are incisive and characters are an absolute delight. A few pieces of the story didn't 100% hit for me, but this was an honest surprise. It's a game that doesn't try to go above its scope to be anything too epic and ends up feeling breezy and pleasant as a result. A solid little fantasy-based VN with fantastic production values that's worth a look.

I really love the characters and the story is cool and I thought the puzzles were pretty fun! Definitely played it more for the story though. I also thought the worldbuilding was pretty interesting, especially on the history front. It was a bit shorter than I was expecting after the demo, but hey, 7 chapters isn't bad for the price (especially when it's on sale)! I finished it in just a few days (though I haven't …

Gameplay: 8/10 Graphics & Sound: 7/10 Narration: 7/10 ✔️ Fun and varied characters ✔️ An enjoyable amount of narrative depth ✔️ The base alchemy gameplay is simple, but pretty fun, I honestly got enraptured by the goal of unlocking all stars in your alchemy book ✔️ A surprising amount of voiced lines for this kind of game ✔️ The tone cues are very helpful to get the vibe of a dialogue choice ✔️ The worldbuilding is …

neutral · AI labelView post →Although Arcadia Fallen has some positive qualities, I can't recommend this game. There are better visual novels available that are inexpensive or free. This game feels unfinished. Chapters 1-5 were relatively long, but Chapters 6-7 passed by in the blink of an eye. The ending was unsatisfying as quite a lot happens off-screen and several points are dropped and never addressed. There is no detailed description of the final fight sealing the demons away. There isn't even a puzzle minigame for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another story about a fearful society that discriminates against mages, and a corrupt government that hides the truth of the past. Information • The protagonist can be non-binary in choosing an androgynous body type and they/them pronouns; however, there are only feminine and masculine voice options. • Romance is optional and there are no achievements associated with romancing a character. • Romance options are: 2 women, 2 men. Any gender can romance them. • Choices throughout…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't say it's any one major complaint that keeps me from recommending this game. It's a series of smaller gripes that ultimately added up and made me decide that this game was unsalvageable. For the most part, the spelling and grammar is okay, but it really needs to be said that "eheh" and "ahah" don't need to be shoved into every single dialogue box. Nor are they used correctly when they do show up. "ahah" is treated like a nervous tic, when my brain translates that as laughter. It makes…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Art: 4/5 stars. The art style is quite enjoyable. My main gripe with it is that there aren't any real CG's other than one very small picture of your character and your chosen love interest kissing when you get to that point, which shows no more detail than the usual sprites. Music: 3/5 stars. Music is unremarkable. It's not something I would chose to listen to outside of the game, but it wasn't annoying after several playthroughs either, which was good. Voice Acting: 4/5 stars. There's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really wanted to like this game, many elements that I enjoyed (some MC customisation, decisions generally flavour the characters personality, LGBT+ relationships) but I found the puzzles often unclear and frustrating. Gave up on the game in chapter 3.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a really good game with enjoyable riddles, loveable characters and fun interactions. What I liked: + The alchemy mini game. I was afraid it would get boring/repetetive after a while, but it kept me entertained throughout the whole story. A lot of them are also voluntary (but needed to unlock one character's backstory), so you don't have to do too many on successive playthroughs. + The characters. I liked some more than others, but all of them are well written and have more depth than I…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First off, if you love the Dragon Age franchise you need to play this! I have no idea if the developers are DA fans themselves, but Arcadia Fallen captures a lot of what I love in DA games like great character dynamics. I love how Arcadia Fallen manage to create great character dynamics and you actually feel like the group is friends, despite it being a smaller indie game. Huge plus that it had party banter between the characters through the journey and showcased everyone's development, because…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i only just started the game at the time of this review, but so far im loving it!! the characters are all very lovable and the dynamics of the group is very unique. i LOVE the usage of tone tags for the dialogue choices cuz a lot of visual novels have options that SOUND one way, but then your character apparently means it a different way and a character gets mad at you, so it's nice to know exactly how others will perceive answers. art styles adorable and the character customization is cute. my…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I gotta say, I was not expecting myself to like this game that much. I picked up on sale, expecting to get maybe half an hour in before I got bored and refunded it, charting it as "not for me" like most visual novels. Buuuuut, instead, I played the whole game. And honestly? It's great. Not perfect, but a solid 8/10 visual novel to me. The characters were likeable (or the exact right amount of hateable) which meant I never spent any time trying to avoid conversations. They were fun to read…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A thoroughly forgettable game with milquetoast writing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wasn't too sure about this game, my interest started out pretty high and then wavered a bit. I took a month to pick it back up, but it really got to me by the end. I cried, a lot. It's good. Play it if it seems at all interesting to you.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is evil, I hate it, it made cry But in full truth, it's a great game and visual novel. The voice perfomances are amazing, the puzzles are well made and the writing is engaging and fun.

neutral · AI labelView post →Arcadia Fallen is a fantasy VN with some light puzzle mechanics. Great characters, funny, cute, endering, but still well written and engrossing storyline and with nice artwork. The music is only passable, but that's a minor gripe as a whole. Your choices also effect the story and your compainions fate, that's always nice and I feal I got probably as an ideal ending for everyone that the story allowed. Will definitly check out the recently released sequel even if it's an entirely new story, I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a nice little 7/10 game. There's nothing here that's incredible or revolutionary, but there's also nothing that falls completely flat either. If you like the demo, you'll like the full game. Just make sure to save in the demo before you leave the mines, so that you'll have a save ready for the full game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pleasant but inessential. The story and characters are simple, the length is on the shorter side at about five and a half hours, but the tone and the worldbuilding kept me engaged throughout, and I came away glad I spent the time with it. A soft recommend if you can grab it on sale. This is for the kind of person looking for something low-key, even cozy, more interested in spending time with a colourful (if shallow) cast and poking around the edges of a magical world than in being gripped by…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was a very pleasant surprise. Although it is a graphic novel, you can customize your character, their gender, their name and their personality. While you can change between two hair styles for each body type and alternate between different colors for their hair, eyes, skin and clothes, the real gem is the personality. The game offers a wide variety of ways to play your protagonist. In fact, I've played many RPGs with romance, and not a single one offers what this one does with…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game. I'm not done with it yet as of writing, but it's phenomenal so far and I've been hooked One suggestion, could a light mode be added? With my astigmatism, white on black is really really hard to read and it makes it difficult for me to focus. I end up focusing more on reading and less on remembering and enjoying the story because of it :c Everything is blurring together ;-;
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fairly short runtime for its price, so maybe get on sale. I would say the average playthrough takes maybe 12 Hours tops unless you use guides, then maybe 8~9 (probably even less if you don't sit and listen to all the character's banter between fast-traveling, like i did...) Only reason i have 80hrs is because I would repeatedly travel to hear banter interactions + i'm a slow reader + I replayed the game a couple times + the alchemy recipes kicked my ass the first time i was tryna figure 'em…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great story with characters you'll find yourself getting attached to, and an underlying puzzle mechanic that was fun to work through. I really, really like this game. 19/10. Will play again!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The characters feel really alive and the voice acting is really, really good. I have had to fight tears multiple times. The puzzles are fun and if you don't like them you can find a solution for all of them online, either google or yt. The romance was okay, I wish it was a bigger part of the game but the focus is on the whole group, which in not a bad thing either but I'm a down bad lesbian, what can I say. I also wish that if you did a whole playthrough and completed all the alchemy recipes,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was okay. Story didn't have much of a grip on me and the characters were... okay. Barely giving this a thumbs up since the visuals/voices were decent. (Too little to do imo and I got fairly bored halfway which is why I was close to giving it a thumbs down.)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I couldn't put this game down! I loved the ability to customize your character and your choices! The mini games were easy and didn't stress me out! I even had fun completing all possible potions, but gosh darn getting all the stars still eludes me! The characters all had amazing development arcs where I could really see where my choices mattered, and the game even reacted to the traits I exemplified throughout the game which I appreciated! Over all I would definitely recommend this game to…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall I enjoyed the game but the end is very rushed until the credits rolled i thought I was an illusion and there would be more game. The romance (I romanced Victoria) left me wanting. I wish there was more once you establish your feelings for each other. I see a lot of potential in the game but it felt like the second half was just rushed. Not sure if there are any plans for a sequel. If there are id love for it to be a longer experience than the first game.

neutral · AI labelView post →Good enough VN with many choices to enable proper role play, but certainly isn’t anything groundbreaking. It ends right after it starts getting interesting, the story isn’t particularly deep nor does it have much to say - aside from the usual stuff of doing an allegory to show that bad things in our society are bad. Like sure it explores complex topics, but every other piece of media explores those same complex topics and some of them do it just plainly better. Same goes for word building -…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am not even halfway through but already super addicted! Everything is super polished, I highly recommend this game. The opening scene music was extremely cheesy but the animation was impressive. I guess it set a good tone for what they were trying to achieve. It's a great game overall! Going to finish this one and then buy and play the sequel.

neutral · AI labelView post →I haven't played many visual novels before but decided to try this game and I don't regret it. I've played through a couple of times now and enjoyed it both times. There are only a couple of hairstyles for your character to choose but I didn't mind. The story really pulled me in and I enjoyed the romance too. The characters were very fun to get to know. I would recommend this game for those who like RPGs and romance.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Arcadia Fallen is a real gem! I'd probably give it an 8/10. I'd definitely consider getting the game while it is on sale. Pros: 1. The worldbuilding is really well done. I feel like the devs made the world come to life really well! It feels like a DM threw in their world, gave a lot of lore, and then showcased a campaign they had with their party. This is probably the strongest positive of the game. The devs really love this world and throw a lot of detail into it. 2. The character designs of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Arcadia Fallen is a great visual novel that manage to surprise me with its quality. For a small studio the dev manage to include character creation, voice acting and player choices dialog decision which is worthy of praise. I find the story to be enjoyable and the character likeable throughout the game 7 hours runtime even if the last 2 chapter is a bit short. The game also allow you to romance any of the 4 party member without any gender restriction which is much appreciated. Overall i think…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My ★★½ review of Arcadia Fallen (2021). Average score for an average game. Get it on sale if you like visual novels (even if they are a bit generic), but otherwise it's pretty safely skippable. That being said, 2.5/5 stars also means it's not BAD, either.
neutral · AI labelView post →The story is good, but what really makes this game are the characters. I found myself quickly charmed by all of the main cast, even if they at first seemed to fall into overdone cliches.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good story after all just have small bug of stars when doing collect alchemist and maybe should have some end where have romantic choose? i mean if feeling to romantic in character will be more special not just some pass kissing only? or i just not found it? that for now score rate yeah 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ah yes, the perfect woman - someone who face palms at each and every one of my decisions. unfortunately, no villains to reform or baddies to bait, but all the npcs were fun in a YA novel kind of way. honestly, the whole 'no bad endings' does make it feel like your choices don't matter that much, but it's good if you're looking for a lowkey, light-hearted VN.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's crazy how much 8 dollars (or 39 PLN) can get you: - an Archivist bf with unresolved childhood trauma, - an unforgettable experience - even more love for indie games - the need to cry yourself to sleep, because of how much you'll miss the first-time experience of playing this game - an Archivist bf with unresolved childhood trauma, - higher standards - new perspective on the world - a life crisis, because you can't leave your normal life and become an alchemist in a small village…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good game. I like the game design even if the character customisation is limited but still friendly to all gender. The story is interessant and the voice acting is in tune especially the death of Elizabeth and, according to your choices, Mime's death . Talking about choices you have a lot of them, depending on how you want your character to be. Spiteful ? Determined ? Anxious ? Try them, the might lead to different outcome. Didn't romanced all the character but whitout being the center of…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I genuinely love this game more than anything. I am a huge visual novel fan. I am a huge open world and do what I want fan. While its not open world, I will say there's enough choices and personal flavor dialog that I am never bored. I love it so much that I completed it on ps4, then bought it on here so I could destress from classes while playing. Looking at the characters, I loved each and every one. Its a colorful cast with fantastic voice acting, and I adore them so much. While I do…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's fine. There's nothing here you haven't seen before if you're into fantasy but it's entertaining enough, despite some weird holes and conveniences in the plot. More or less an interactive YA novel, for better and worse.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(spoilers) its great, i loved the story, loved the romance chars, butttt the actual romance part is a bit underwhelming, like i want to be able to kiss them more, one scene is not enough for me. AND the last fight was so so so underwhelming ! what do u mean i dont actually fight anything! the little puzzle was my fav part wtf. anyway, its fun, but like could have been much better. 3,5/5
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So very underrated, it is a fantastic story and choice based game that deserves way more popularity, being almost fully voice acted with amazing art and an engaging story with little to no flaws; I have already bought and WILL be playing the sequel. Please more people need to support these devs
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this was SO GOOD! i left it running on my PC and completed it over the course of a few days. i love visual novels with some gameplay elements. if you've tried I Was A Teenage Exocolonist or Dispatch, you'll love this. fantastic voice acting really lends to the experience. i wish the romance was explored more heavily, but the story is deep and sososo good, you can tell where the focus was and it pays off.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As someone who played the second game first, I was pretty curious to see how the first game compared. I do think both games have abrupt endings, but they more than earn the emotional climaxes they set up. The worldbuilding, art, and music that I liked in the second game is just as strong here, and so are the characters. Beyond just having interesting backstories or serving as loredumps, you actually feel like you want to get to know these people. You feel bad when they do, and you're happy when…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have no words to describe how unique an experience this was for me. The entire story felt like it was just good. Whenever there was a thing that i would normally nitpick, i just.. Didn't mind it, at all. Every character is so well done, and the choices are really more about who you come out to be rather than changing major points. Minor changes to a great story, just enough that you can feel like it is yours. It really took a smile out of my face, and a reaction no other game has ever…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Personally, I really love and enjoy visual novel games, so I absolutely adore this game. I love all the unique characters/love option routes, the art, and the voiceovers. Literally nothing bad to say about this game, if anything, my own greediness for more content within the chapters and ending, is what would've made this game feel a bit more "connected", if that makes sense lol. Like often times I found myself wanting to explore the characters and their backgrounds a bit more in depth to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really good VN. The personality system for the MC is well thought out and dynamic and all the characters are really lovable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite likely the first story game that I have ever completed. I loved the characters, I loved how they interacted with one another, and how they had so many different views that I may or may not agree with. The character customisation was great, I enjoyed being able to independently select body type, voice and pronouns irregardless of one another.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game. I do think the character customization could be a bit better, granted she's already great looking. The voice acting is great, though I do wish more of it was voice acted. The alchemy is pretty fun, but became frustrating to me by the end. I am at the end of Chapter 4 (of 7) right now. The lore building is out of this world, but they get all of it across without it feeling like exposition getting shoved down my throat. The moral dilemmas in this game have made me pause, go on a…
