I was really on the fence all throughout this entire game to give this a thumbs up or down, but I'm going to downvote this game because I honestly think the cons outweigh pros, unfortunately. I really wanted to love this game as a longterm Assassin's Creed fan and although there were a few highlights; I think the story was WAY too long, with the bulk of the main missions being just tedious. People usually complain about this game being so long and so repetitive, they complain about it not feeling like an Assassin's Creed... I get it, it is ABSOLUTELY LONG, and NOT AN ASSASIN'S CREED experience that you would expect. BUT - It has absolutely stunning graphics, a huge map that feels so alive and yet full of solitude at the same time. ABSOLUTE BEAUTY! And about being repetitive, every other game is …

A Norse Saga About the Survival of Your Patience Assassin's Creed Valhalla is, without a doubt, the largest game I have ever played. But in this case, the sheer scale is its greatest flaw. The game mistakes quantity for quality, and the result is a staggering 200+ hour experience that feels more like a bloated, directionless odyssey than a focused epic. Your time is a currency, and Valhalla spends it poorly. …

This game doesn’t deserve the hate it gets. It may not be the best Assassin’s Creed title, but as an open-world RPG with a Viking setting, it’s one of the best. The combat feels satisfying, the graphics are impressive, and Eivor is a strong and well-written character. The story is quite long, but it remains engaging throughout. The main issue I encountered was occasional crashes, which can be frustrating. Aside from …

Critics, per Wikipedia
Assassin's Creed Valhalla received "generally favorable reviews" from critics, according to the review aggregation website Metacritic. Fellow review aggregator OpenCritic assessed that the game received strong approval, being recommended by 91% of critics. Game Informer gave a highly positive review, praising the narrative, mix of gameplay-systems and the world of Valhalla. "Each installment hits different sweet spots for different players with varying degrees of success, but for the first time in the series, the balance feels perfect in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. With its engaging combination of combat, open-world exploration, crafted story content, and settlement management, this Viking…

60 of 487 · most liked firstThis is a negative review mostly due to what I regard as a series of backward steps in game design in the series. I've played plenty in the Assassin's Creed series, starting with the first & skipping a one here or there. Of recent titles, I think Black Flag & Odyssey are fantastic titles well worth your time. Valhalla undoes a lot of the good work that Origins & Odyssey started - choice & consequence have reduced. Multi-part quests and dialogue interactions are gone - now you just chase…

The only connection with the assassins is the character Basim and the hidden bureaus you find throughout the game. Overall here is what i experienced in the 240 hours that i played this game including all DLCs: -Environment, world, scenery: Exceptional! Whoever designed the areas, the world did a very good job. There is honestly sooo much to do and it is fun to do even mysteries on the map as well are fun to figure out and rewarding. I know die hard AC fans will be like oh this is not in line with the OG AC story etc and what not... but so what? Is it fun? Yes it is, Is it still an assassin creed game? Yes. There are severeal reasons for it and it's not a bad game itself. This is just a quick review, the game's flaws has been debated over the years and I'm not writing anything new. Overall my negative review is heavily based (almost solely) on the 100% achievement run I had to do, I'll try to review the game based on the game itself, the 100% run and the DLCs. The positives are simple...…

Look, i've not put 150 hours plus into this game (twice if you count xbox) to say it's the worst game I've ever played. It's not. Not by a long shot (Two Worlds on Xbox 360 anyone?) negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved AC Odyssey and Origins. In fact, Odyssey was probably my favorite AC game, along with Black Flag, having played all of them multiple times. But Valhalla felt really overwhelming yet boring. The world is big, the quests are endless, but it never convinced me to fully immerse myself in the game and be invested in the story. Now 72 hours later, I still haven't beat the game. I will, but it just doesn't feel rewarding anymore, if it ever did from the start.

And then, after sitting through that, they ask you to press a button, and then only check for DLC presence, which takes another 5-10 seconds. Does no one play their games in their studio? Why is Ubisoft trying to make me hate launching their games? Anyway, they succeeded.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I must say I should have played Assassin's Creed Valhalla years ago. I listened to many reviewers who gave this game a big thumbs down, and now I feel that was a mistake. After finally playing it myself, I realized how different my experience was from what I had heard. The story is not overly complex, but it is emotional and engaging. The relationships you build and the choices you make give the journey a personal touch. I found myself caring about many of the characters and wanting to see how…

I bought this game to be a silent shadow in the night. Instead, I am a 200-pound Viking screaming "ODIN IS WITH US" while burning down a monastery and drop-kicking a priest into a river. The Valhalla Experience: * Stealth: Wearing a hood so nobody recognizes you, while riding a giant wolf through the streets of London. * Combat: You have a "Hidden" blade, but you mostly use it to stab…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is a terrible AC game, but a pretty good Viking RPG. The whole time, it felt like Ubisoft desperately wanted to make their own CDPR's The Witcher 3, but had to keep the AC name on the box. The result is a game that sometimes works on its own terms, but often feels confused about what it actually wants to be. The most confusing moment of my ACV experience happened when I genuinely had to google whether I had already finished the game or not. The ending doesn’t feel…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a really good game but I do have to warn anyone who is playing through it that you will likely get crashes to desktop regularly. Normally it happens in large city areas or like, spots with lot of buildings and people. Graphic settings or any options don't seem to stop it. If you relaunch the game after a crash and just select Continue, you should be able to play with no issues though. Save often.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys a little masochism. If you actually bought the game instead of pirating it, you get the unforgettable experience of using the Ubisoft Launcher in a single-player game. You have to remember yet another password, and you need a stable internet connection so Ubisoft can collect player metrics and potentially use that data for AI-related purposes. The licensed version also comes with the mandatory gift of Denuvo, which can treat you to occasional…

It definitely has its problems, but there’s a lot here that I genuinely enjoyed. The biggest thing I liked was the world itself. Riding through the countryside, discovering new locations, finding random events and just wandering around made the world feel really alive. The Viking setting also…

After 100%-ing everything—from the snowy peaks of Norway to the shores of Ireland, the siege of Paris, and the literal realms of the gods in Dawn of Ragnarök—I am exhausted, but strangely satisfied. It’s a game of massive highs and tedious lows, but for a lore nerd, the payoff is legendary. The Elephant in the…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is representative of the rot that exists in Ubisoft. This is a thinly veiled cash shop wrapped in the skin of a game. 1. Default control scheme for Keyboard/Mouse absolutely sucks! Who the hell thought it was ok to put combat controls on Q, Shift, Alt, H, 1, 2, 3, and 4 while also expecting us to still control our character with WASD?! Thank Odin for a gaming mouse with multiple side-buttons, I was able to rebind much of that mess to my right hand. 2. The character controls can just…

I decided in my infinite wisdom that I wanted to choose one of the games from the series to Platinum. So when I was 100 hours+ in to AC Valhalla I realized how nuts it was to choose either the most or SECOND most time-centric games in the entire series. But somehow I prevailed. I've been playing through all the AC titles for achievements, and the second longest game so far was Odyssey at 139.4 hours. As of writing this, I'm at 352.7 hours in Valhalla and I still have about 3 DLC's left to complete and I genuinely dont know if I have it in me to finish playing this miraculously boring monotonous merry-go-round of doing the same thing in different places. Valhalla is a good game putting aside the “please politically reorganize the entire British Isles before dinner” part. Ironically. It’s a good open world, vast and living, with people to meet, places to be, treasure to find, fish to catch, stones to stack (deep breath) … You get the point. The mini games are fun yet personally I wish they kept them off the main route. Visuals are neat, sound is ok, gameplay is obvious and less stealth focused. Ofc we…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It makes sense that there would've been assassins even during the viking-period (since assassins have always been active), and it would be weird if a VIKING would become a full assassin. So the way the story went is very well done (option to go full a-viking but also able to sneak and assassinate). Besides that, I really enjoy the RPG aspect. It can feel one-toned from time to time, but there is plenty to do to help with that. Also Dag and Sigurd should both take a chill pill. Moral of the…

On one hand, it somehow bottled enough magic to make the thought of playing this game somehow appealing, and yet on the other hand, the actual act of playing it is incredibly... boring. It starts off strong plot-wise, but for some reason, as soon as you get to England, any semblance of raison d'être evaporates. What was once a plot gives way to a whatever the ♥♥♥♥ Order prances around in England that you for some reason would want dead all of a sudden. To…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Probably the most divisive game of the AC series, but well worth your time — the trick is understanding before going in what you're actually getting... Is this a good AC game? No. It's not really about stealth, although you CAN play it that way (I prefer a stealth approach, and it works well enough situationally). AC Valhalla is, however, a top drawer action RPG — it absolutely nails the Viking fantasy, and then some, and THAT is the reason you should play. The game is not without it's…

Just when you start thinking the end is near the game keeps throwing more and more at you. To stretch out the weak plot it constantly sends you running to the other side of the map. What's worse is that it started off incredibly strong. The first seven hours were fantastic. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was really disappointed with Assassin's Creed Valhalla. The story is unnecessarily long, dragging on without much purpose. It feels repetitive and tedious, making it a chore to get through. Instead of feeling rewarding, the gameplay often leaves you feeling uninterested and frustrated.
