I tried to like this game, but I just couldn't. It's in the same ballpark as being a good game, but it's got a number of flaws that I can't get over: * "Mash Y to win" combat that is neither challenging nor fun, with mostly the same three enemies on repeat. * Big open world... that is constantly boxed in by invisible walls. Any time I thought I was finding something interesting, some secret path or mountain climb, …

This is was overall a GREAT game but keep reading as I want to give you the good points first then the bad. First the good: Graphics: Hands down 10/10. One of the most breathtaking graphics I've seen in an indie/other genre game in a while! From the shiny purple grass to the breath taking sky. The devs really worked on this. Control: The control is about as on par as the graphics 10/10. Astor responds with fluid …

A very commendable attempt at a character action Zelda-like for a new developer. Unfortunately the game isn’t good enough for me to recommend on its own merits. However I do recommend it on the basis of supporting a new developer with a clear vision and talent. I’ll offer some constructive criticism here: 1. Combat has a nice flow that is complimented by the combo counter. I enjoyed moving around the arenas and …

Amazing little gem that feels like a throwback to zelda of old. I've read some reviews where the review says the game is souls like....don't know where they got that idea...this is not a souls like game, not even close. difficulty is far more forgiving then any souls like game. If you are a fan of the old Zelda game this is going to be right up your ally.

I'm mixed on this game. I would recommend it, but only if you understand the caveats of the product you're going to receive currently at time of writing. This game isn't necessarily my cup of tea, but I can see it appealing to individuals who are nostalgic for older beat 'em ups and hack and slash titles. It reminded me a lot of older PS2 titles like The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning in terms of the overall game loop, where you travel to one area, fight a bunch of bad guys, and then move on…

30 minutes in, early impressions. The game is lacking polish. Camera movements are jumpy, glitchy areas, the combat is... basic and pretty boring, and for some reason, when you smash a box, it spawns more pieces than it took to make the box. It's like 1000 voxel pieces, super weird, and doesn't fit the art style. When you kill a group of enemies, it does this really weird slo-mo/black and white thing which is... pointless and adds nothing to the game other than some pretend "flare." The…

A solid 5/10 - there are bugs that happen often, like keeping you stuck inside the arena after completing it. The combat is really stiff, and you can't simply go back to the stages that you missed something, it makes you play the stage all over again. Anyway, if you don't mind the jank, it's a capable adventure game, like those early 2000's. I would like to give it a neutral rating. Buy it only on sale. Note: there's a bug that makes the last achievement unobtainable, and the devs won't fix…

The game is just not very good. The biggest issue is that the combat is clunky, and there is way too much of it. It doesn't respond well to your inputs since animations are slow and take priority. However, there is so *much* combat and swarms of enemies. so it doesn't feel deliberate like a Souls-type game. It's not hard, since you can mash the light attack button for most of the game, but it is unsatisfying. And for the bulk of the game, that's it. You'll just fight and fight and fight…

Astor: Blade of the Monolith looks like Zelda, but it plays like Devil May Cry with a huge emphasis on combat and upgrades. It's a very fun game that makes full use of its physics engine and lets you play it basically however you want. Really the only issues with this game are the combat scaling, the fact that it's not very innovative and the lack of any in-depth puzzle element. Starting with the good, the game's art style is very unique and the story, while something you've probably heard…

You can't turn off the overly-done camera shaking effect that happens when you use your heavy attack. That means that playing this game means committing yourself to watch the screen shaking every few seconds for hours and hours. No thank you.

I finished the game. It's not bad, a 5.5/10 for me personally. But you can feel the "jank" from time to time. I once softlocked myself in a room and had to jump over a fence and roll midair to try to escape that situation, had to reload from last checkpoints a lot because missions would not continue for some reason and got stuck while climbing on Vines sometimes. The camera took over multiple times and i got killed in a forced cutscene one time. I personally think the maps are to big for this…

This game is jank central and very cliche but it's earnest and clearly has a lot of love in it. The setting has some really interesting worldbuilding but it's vomited out in weird spurts rather than feeling cohesive. I was hoping for something with a more open world like Hob or Kena: Bridge of Spirits and I think that the developers were as well at some point in design, but levels end abruptly in a way that frequently severs sidequests or cuts off exploration. The gauntlets you unlock as your…

To me this is very refreshing since there's a lot of survival right crafting open world stuff these days. It's like playing a really good PS2 game. This game is really pretty and very reminiscent of Zelda games, especially older ones. There is not much exploration of the world beyond the direct quests to follow, but with that in mind the plot is an interesting one so far. The biggest draw of this game for me is the aesthetics of the world and nostalgia for old Game Cube games. The tutorial at the start is helpful and eases you in, but the fight mechanics can be a bit difficult in early game with multiple enemies. Overall I would…

I've been playing it for a few hours but so far it seems like a pretty entertaining game. The combat is pretty good, using combos gives you a significant advantage against the variety of enemies. On the other hand, the art of the game is quite visually attractive. Within 5 minutes of playing the game and getting to the combat tutorial, I died a few times on the normal difficulty. Now that I have gotten the hang of it, I can confirm that the sword leaves a mark in the sand. The invisible walls can be annoying at times, but I just run along the edges to explore anyways, so I am not too phased by it. Combat, attacks, weapons and skills are not too bad. It's a game that I really can't recommend. It has some pretty visuals and you can tell that the team really dedicated a lot of love to the artistic elements, but its gameplay is very boring, its not creative, the enemies hold too much that it extends the combat to give a false sense of difficulty and the cinematics destroy much of the flowof the game. Not to mention the dialogues which treat you like a child unless that's the main objetive and yet it would be really dull for them.

This was a super fun action/adventure/rpg. The combat was kinda simple but also super fun, I found myself switching between the 4 weapons more than I usually do in games like this. I also really appreciated the unique art style. The game was a good length too, with the story getting really good near the ending. I definitely recommend this for fellow lovers of the genre that want something a little different.

It's pretty easy to miss collectibles on your first playthrough, because you'll often progress the mission without realizing, and then you can't go back. I was young and not exactly the brightest bulb. Still isn't, honestly. :P Considering AH'sT was my first Spyro game & I didn't play the original trilogy, it was interesting to see how Tomas, Magnus, Titan, & Astor look now in Reignited. Still like both versions though. ^^

How is this Definitive in any way? We aren't getting a playable Astor. I get it, you can transfer save data (forwards only) and the Switch 2 physical version is on an actual damn Game Card. But this is cutting it really close to the anti-consumer practices of SEGA and Squeenix.

An indie hack-and-slash zeldalike with fun combat, satisfying parrying, decent environmental puzzles, and a solid story? Sign me up. The VO narration and animated cutscenes are well done, the characters are memorable, the villain is very cool, and the progression is interesting. There are some minor glitches, but that’s normal for a game created by a small team. Overall, a really enjoyable experience.
