What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 291 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Positive (4,619 of 5,961 positive).
Players praise the game's British atmosphere and setting, calling it a unique take on post-apocalyptic survival. [1][2][3] Some reviewers note the game is not a traditional RPG or Fallout clone, but an immersive sim with survival elements. [4][5][6] Several players criticize the small inventory size and lack of currency, which can make looting frustrating. [7][8][9]

Some lovingly crafted locations and a very engaging 1950s sci-fi vibe, but the game is hamstrung by some baffling gameplay choices. 1. I really wanted to enjoy this game, but it's just painfully average. The first 10 hours, I was engaged. But after nearing the end of the base game, and going half way through the Wicked Isle DLC? I realised I had already experienced and seen what the game had to offer. Atomfall has a solid setup and concept, but suffers from a consistent identity crisis in it's gameplay department. I was never sure if the game was …

This game is criminally underrated. The basic pitch is Fallout Yorkshire… but even that does it a disservice. Fallout is a first-person shooter with huge RPG elements: big action scenes, lots of enemies, lots of guns, and people with grand ideas about changing the world, all wrapped in a nod to 1950s American sci-fi. Atomfall feels much more like British sci-fi — which was always more about strange happenings, …

I'm absolutely loving Atomfall – one of the best survival games I've played in ages! As an Englishman, stepping into this overgrown quarantine zone hits me right in the chest: misty moors, crumbling dry-stone walls, abandoned red phone boxes, village pubs with the windows smashed in… it’s the England of my childhood, but twisted and forgotten. A past I miss terribly, brought back in the most haunting way possible. …

It takes the familiar post-apocalyptic formula and gives it a distinctly British identity, drawing inspiration from the real-world Windscale nuclear disaster while blending folk horror, science fiction, and survival gameplay. neutral · AI labelView post →Alright. Atomfall is done and dusted. You know, this game received a mixed reception amongst my friends, so I wasn't totally certain I'd enjoy the game and waited to buy it until it was like 20 bucks recently on Fanatical. It's entirely possible that the devs had continued working on this game after release (and after some of my friends played it) although I never did look at the updates to see, but the game I got was pretty polished overall and actually a really fun time.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Base game only. Honestly, this is a great break in between other games. It's short compared to modern day games which is so refreshing. I took a long time exploring, hoarding, gaining courage to do scary things, improving my skills, and completing all endings (I am not the best FPSer). Pros: - Short: A really, really, really good PALLET CLEANSER. ~20 hours and you can get all endings/100%. Speed runs around 20 minutes. - Story: It's pretty solid. Multiple endings based on your choices. You…

positive · AI labelView post →If there were an award for the studio that consistently makes the most mid games, Rebellion would definitely deserve a special category. Every game I’ve played from this studio starts with good ideas, but somehow they never manage to execute them properly. Because of that, the final product almost always ends up being painfully average. Atomfall is no exception. The story is the most forgotten element, as usual. It feels like the game has a story just because it needs the “story-driven” tag —…

neutral · AI labelView post →Great game until I hit the "snake" minigame. Tried for an hour, gave up - I'm litteraly to old for this sh*t. No way to bypass it. Pity. Dissapointed, uninstalled.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game looks great, and has some charm for sure. However, the gameplay is lacking and choices seem pointless overall. This is designed for somebody with different tastes than me, and way more forgiving to clunky gameplay and gameplay mechanics.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A game that tries to do everything, and succeeds at nothing. A shooter with no ammo, a melee game with no blocking, an exploration game with a bad map, a non-linear story that's begging for direction, a stealth game with no stealth mechanics.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a terrible game, but rather disappointing, since almost everything is falling short of what it should be. The characters and the plot as well as many of the leads seemed quite interesting at first, but none of the resolutions ever felt satisfying to me. The locations are decent, but exploration is pretty lackluster, since there aren't many interesting things to discover. On top of that the game doesn't connect the leads in the journal with the POIs on the map, so you have to do that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A couple of people have asked me what this game is in Atomfall- it’s a board game called Colorito. It’s a variation of a “get all your pieces across the line/border” game that was popularised by Halma. Here’s it in Atomfall and an example I photographed when doing research

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think a lot of the negative reviews for this game came from people expecting something different than what Atomfall is. Atomfall is not an open world RPG. It is not a British Fallout, though it does wear a lot of Fallout inspiration. Atomfall is more like a cross between an immersive sim, such Deus Ex or Bioshock, and a survival shooter, such as Stalker or Far Cry. An odd combination, but it works. I generally enjoyed the characters and the story, though it contained common sci-fi tropes…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have had Atomfall since it came out back in 2025, 27th March to be precise. It's launch date. Due to something wrong with my computer at the time (had a faulty 4090) I couldn't play it. I had to wait for my new PC parts to come so sadly... Atomfall sat in my library gathering dust, watching me play other games that I fell behind on. BUT, here I am... finally playing Atomfall over a year later. Hey, it's not that bad because now I don't need to return to it for the DLC content! After playing…

It took me 30-ish hours to finish the whole thing, with significant exploration and DLC content included. Atomfall might at first seem like a Fallout/Stalker like experience but going into this game and expecting a Bethesda style open world or super immersive survival of Stalker will lead to disappointment. Atomfall is a much more contained…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →**Disappointing and unfinished for the price** I waited about a year for this game to release and was genuinely excited to play it, which makes the final experience even more disappointing. At full price on Steam of $49.99, which comes out to roughly $53 after Maryland tax, the game simply does not deliver enough content or polish to justify the cost. The biggest issue is direction. The story never feels fully focused, missions often lack meaningful payoff, and the choices rarely lead…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have not gave a game a negative review in my life so this is my first negative review. The reason is after beating the game you cannot play any of the DLCs because they were meant to be played before beating the game. There is only two autosaves, one location save and I only made 3 manual saves that I overwrite as I play through the game. Now all of the saves were overwritten with after I have beaten the game so there is no way for me to load to a save prior to beating Oberon. Almost in…

positive · AI labelView post →God oh god is this a weird game. Autosave is good, I can choose how far apart each autosave is. I kinda like the fact that there are very few guidance on quests, very realistic and immersive, requires you to listen to what people say and read all the clues. Graphics is amazing, very good view. Now the bad part: Shooting is depressing, human enemies all have Parkinson's and are shaking their head like crazy so it's impossible to hit headshots if you missed the first one. Terrible AI for…

neutral · AI labelView post →Not recommended at full price — wait for a sale. Atomfall has a genuinely intriguing premise — a retro-British, post-nuclear survival game with a mysterious open world — and for the first couple of hours, that novelty carries it pretty well. Exploring the early zones feels atmospheric, and stumbling into new enemy types kept me engaged enough to push forward. But the cracks show fast. Combat is the biggest offender. Melee feels clunky. And the stealth system completely breaks any tension…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Past couple days I've been poking around at Atomfall. Interesting game - it'd be reductive to call it 'STALKER but British', even though there's some commonalities. It's a small but dense open world, and most human enemies only act hostile if pressured or startled. Usually they just want you gone.
positive · AI labelView post →could have been such a good game, it's really fun and there's lots to explore, but the story is kind of.... meh. there's not enough context to fully understand anything.. why did i wake up in a bunker, where did i come from? what's my name? why does the town just let strangers roam around freely.. they could have done so much with this, but it kind of just felt lazy, i was really excited to play this, but i'm very disappointed
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Atomfall had the atmosphere to pull me in, but its systems pushed me away. A 12-slot inventory with no stacking and no upgrades turns exploration into constant irritation. Barter without a real currency removes any sense of progression or reward. Looting enemies often feels pointless because there’s simply no space to take anything. Instead of tension, the game creates exhaustion through restrictions. I wanted to survive and explore, not fight the interface. Im sorry, but 12-slot inventory…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game almost lost me in the first 2 hours. After that, it significantly picked up. I enjoyed probably 5 hours. After that, I completely lost interest in whatever it was trying to do, and the final few hours were just an exercise in reaching credits as quickly as possible. The main problem I found is that nothing ever made me care about any of the characters or storylines. Every time you meet someone, they essentially tell you "Trust me. don't trust those other people you've talked to,"…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played the game for about 12 hours and may continue to play but the thumbs down is because I wouldn't recommend it to others in its current form. The ability to jump onto objects and out of the way of monsters is really poor and doesn't work as a player would expect. Combat is janky too. The worst feature though is that some bright developer made the decision that allowing only 12 slots for a backpack with no options for upgrades, etc. may be relevant in a survival "simulator" (which I'd…

neutral · AI labelView post →Atomfall is a pretty special game. I played on survivor with most of the assists off; I think the game should be played on this or harder difficulties. Having generalized journal entries (or none) allows you to come up with solutions the quest log would not suggest, and the game accounts for this most of the time. There is a button to check the chamber/magazine of your currently equipped weapon, so I think playing with dropped mags is viable. The crafting/inventory systems are lightweight, but…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's really hard to recommend Atomfall to anyone and I won't The main problem with this game is lack of focus - it is tries to be too many things at once and fails at nearly all of them. Is Atomfall a good RPG? No, the quests are kinda lame and there is no much choice in terms of progression and charcter build. Tho its cool that you can side with nearly anyone, kill any NPC and change your side even in lategame, it not feels satisfying in any way imo. The main story is kinda poor writing,…
