What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 182 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mixed (167 of 298 positive).
Some players praise the sandbox mode and creative potential. [1][2][3] Many reviewers complain the game feels abandoned with no updates. [4][5][6] Several players note the physics and controls can be frustrating. [7][8][9]

Autocraft is a phyics based building game which is currently available in Early Access. In Autocraft's challenge mode you are given objectives to complete on different maps and you must build a vehicle with the parts you are given to complete these objectives. In Sandbox mode you should (I'll come to that later) be able to build any vehicle you could possibly imagine with any of the parts available in the game on …

This is the first review in over a month. This game has been abandoned entirely. No players, no support from developers. really is quite sad to see this just slowly die out because autocraft had MASSIVE potential. if you want to have fun by yourself, you can play this for however long it lasts you. it's worth it, but note the fact that you are the only person in the entire world playing the game.

While it was fun when I was first starting to learn how everything works, later it just becomes like every other "physics"-based puzzle game with repetitive landscapes and the same old requirements to finish each puzzle, just modified slightly. Terrible game, the physics are shocking, gameplay is jumpy, for a game that relies on physics as its forefront image it does not one bit feel fun, just frustratin as it controls like a lemon, dont waste your $10 on this game..

This game is abandoned. Devs ignoring ANY questons since last minor update in april 2016 with except for "Will be there any final version of the game?" at which they said "ye-ye, buddy, we will do it, just wait and maybe buy another copy?" I'm sure they're pretty busy with spending their not so hardly earned early access cash.
Summarised from 34 of the 193 public posts collected about this game; every point cites the posts behind it ([n] opens the post) and the split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Updated Oct 13, 2026. How summaries are made
47% of the 182 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Autocraft. The complaint that keeps coming up: game is abandoned with no recent updates. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I never really got into this game, despite my 12.4 hours, but now that it's no longer updated I'm more sad than anything, the game had great potential, but it seems the devs gave up on it so it's really not worth buying if you are looking for a finished game, or an active community.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First impression: less addictive than Robocraft There've been quite a few LEGO-type games recently. This one has "Challenges" which are small levels that you have to complete with limited parts, earning extra stars for beating a time limit, not breaking your craft, collecting stars (duh) and similar tasks - think small obstacle course. The whole game feels very sandboxey, from the cardboard tube sturdiness of your craft to the low-poly simplistic level design; and indeed the sandbox mode seems…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an okay toy. It can be fun, but wears this fast. As a game, it feels hollow. Seems like they originally had the intention of making a survival style game, realized they couldn't and made this instead. Also, I'm tired of "Physics based" games that son't attempt anything that feels lke real physics. Everything feels swimmy, light-weight and fragile. Great if you want to watch things explode and fly apart, but that's it.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →UPDATE: The review below is obsolete. There are still challenges with limited amounts of parts, but the sandbox has been updated SO MUCH MORE. Now with steam workshop support, you can subscribe to people's creations to use them in the sandbox, like Garry's Mod. You can still make your own stuff, though! I am not sure, but I think there is a co-op now that can replace the fact that there wasn't a multiplayer. Now, I give this game a full 10/10! Feel free to friend me to ask me any questions on…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know how I feel about this game. The tutorials weren't that great, and the items that you have access to are inconsistent. The game was really hard for me to get into. I find this really disappointing because I love puzzle games, I love building physics games, I love challenging games, I also really love the space theme. But this game just does something wrong with these great concept and they all fall flat creating a confusing, hard to play game. Doesn’t quite feel user friendly.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crashes often and is not a good experience due to poor input detection and handling. If you want a game of this type, I'd reccomend Besiege, as it has a MUCH better and more fun experience.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good, but could be better. Some of the objectives/challenges dont always work but it runs smooth and isnt too easy. Sandbox mode is v.good due to unlimited blocks. Good to buy on sale, but probably not full price.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game hasn't been updated since like 2017, its mostly abandoned, mods are scarce and the price for a game with this kind of enviroment and physics and a uninterested dev team is not worth it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this games dead and the devs ran away with the money. dont buy it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun, but I feel like other games have come out that are miles ahead of this one. It was a great concept, and while it still is fun... I feel there is much better out there for probably roughly the same price tag.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →-infinity:nan/10 Developers suck at updating and left it in the dust. ♥♥♥♥ vermeulen.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →whew......what a ride It was honestly a bit emotional coming back to pc gaming and finding this game from my old library. I enjoyed this game a TON when I was a kid, and I owe a lot of my creativity today to the awakening that this game was for me. 47 hours was a long time for little me, and I loved every second of it farewell old friend ;-;
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tried a newer pack after a while away, pretty great!. I recently spun up a server for some friends that have all been playing with me since the alpha days, and wanted something fresh. Saw [AutoCraft](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/modpacks/autocraft-forge-1-18-2/files) mentioned somewhere and checked into it. Basically a full blown kitchen sink pack with so much to do I can't get anything productive done, but it's been great! Pack admin is responsive and trying to grow a community on…
positive · AI labelView post →It's cool if it had multiplayer, but it's still cool because the devs acctually listen to their custumers and add things that needs there! :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Could have been, but isn't.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DO NOT BUY. Developers ABANDONED this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good Game, i was suprised by the huge amount of parts. However a few things i have come across in sandbox: 1) Landing gear dont want to retract 2) Cant disable pitch/roll on wings which made it harder to takeoff with a plane 3) i dont seem to be able to get spinners to spin quick enough for a helicopter, they seem to reach a limit which isnt enough 4) Parachutes dont seem to do anything when deployed If these things were fixed then it would be quite a good sandbox game. if its just me being…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was expecting so much more, sadly it's highly repetitive, focuses on a few bells and whistles which aren't even fully useful [nevermind the fact that it's a early access game], tries to create a cartoon like appeal which only makes it look that much more underwhelming, and shows no potential. Especially compared to other simulators out there. This game does not, and I do not expect it to merit costing any money after it passes it's early access stages. If you're looking for something like…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(changed state, read more) I have had this game for a very long time, its currently been abandoned. Do not buy this while its in this state! Update:The devs are re-active, the game isn't abandoned! According to their dev-notes they had to wait for a unity 5 update to allow their physics engine to work correctly, The game is a good game overall, you can have fun with making your own creation, tank to plane. I strongly reccomend this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →====2020 update==== 2 years later, still run in 1 or 2 thread, f**king lag even in create mode. Well, I think that's all. I'm done with this game. ====old comment==== This is a cool game, but still too many problems need to fix. I hope the author will fix these issues soon, and I will give this game another chance. Issues: 1. Awful airplane control and simulation. It's hard to take off an airplane, and also hard to control the direction. 2. Awful performance, after you fire some artillery,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a Sandbox Vehicle Building Game. Good game. It's pretty rough but I can see a gem under all the dirt. Pros: - Sandbox vehicle building game with minor goals in the sand box - Sky's the limit - Screw sane machines - Plenty of cosmetic items - Save/Load system - Lots of things that go boom - Challenges - 3 different maps for playing - incredibly peaceful music Cons: -Physic engines doesn't seem to like cars at all - Limited type of movement options - No multi-player as of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game back in 2014 and while going over my library I had to write this review. This game was never finished. There is nearly no content what so ever as well as no steam workshop support. This is a blatant waste of money. DO NOT BUY IT!!! If you want a game that is similar to this buy Besiged it is a much better investment. It is honestly sad how this game was just abandoned by developers who do not care or have any passion. Again this game was abandoned so do not buy it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a lot of potential but falls short numerous times on the mechanics which makes me unable to recommend it. Take for example the slow motion feature which is implemented in such a way that with the same amount of fuel you can travel much much further depending on how much you want to slow down time. This means when you would normally need something like 2000 litres of fuel to reach the end you can do with just 500 litres if you play with the slow down time feature to the slowest…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →From bad... to better. The devs have finally updated the game yet still have a long road to go to win back their fanbase... but for right now the game is now stable and slightly playable. Bugs are everywhere and I will be posting to the forum. Hopefully the devs listen to the complaints, but I have yet to see a reply to some of the bugs I've seen people post about.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is quite fun is some ways, but the challenge mode is god awful. 1. Some challenges are so easy it's wrong calling it a challenge. Other challenges are so hard that it is indeed, impossible to get all of the stars. 2. The physics is just incorrect and annoying. For example, i had my vehicle just scrolling along, it was perfectly balenced, but then randomly turned right. I retry and it does the same thing but goes left. I don't even need to press any buttons. This game is just not…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Autocraft have you building "moon rovers" for explorers on foreign moons and rocks. But the lack of playback control and stress analysis that were available in similar builder type games made it rather frustrating to play. Autocraft differs slightly from the regular formula in that you are allowed to control your craft in some instances. And timing the thrusters or steering can have a major effect on achieving the goal or not. Basically, you need to build a vehicle that can survive from point…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoy playing this game. What I like about it is that the gameplay is fairly openand there are a certain number of challenges to keep things entertaining. I enjoy the fact that the environment in the game changes as you go along, and that there is no perfect solution to getting your vehicle where it needs to go. The results of a bad idea can also be pretty hilarious to watch. It is a unique concept insofar as I can tell, and elements of it bring the player back to building cub cars…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring. Bad Graphics. Get TerraTech instead if your looking for a game like this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →what used to be a non inf early accsess game is now an inf early accsess game EDIT: now they finally updated again. still wouldnt recomend it unless i see massive improvements
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Developers don't update this game anymore. Disappointing since the start. PS, ♥♥♥♥ you Alientrap. What a waste of 10 dollars this game wasa
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kind of feels abandoned. The developers don't seem to have been here since April, and reading in the discussion don't really seem to have been much help when they were. The game is way too broken. The controls don't seem to work well, some not at all. With the little bit I managed to be able to do my cars wheel got stuck inside a rock. To me it's not worth the $2.49 I paid.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is horrible. Boring like you wouldn't believe. I wish I could get my money back.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too many bugs with no updates to leave a positive review.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Now, I'm certainly not upset with Autocraft. It's certainly a well built game, and it's controls are really easy to understand. My only complaint is that some of the more advanced controls (such as when editing control bindings) are a bit clunky, but usable. The game's performance is solid and it's graphics are mediocre. However, the game feels uninspired. There is no goal, no direction. You feel like your playing a game which has no meaning. Now, I'm not going to completely call out autocraft,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a great game. It is an ok sim but could have been so much more. There is so much missing. Should have received more effort from the developers.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I understand the reviews now. You can play a 2D version of this for free on your phone. Save your time and money and skip it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lol. That was my first reaction. Then I kept playing and I was all, "Oh. Alright, this is pretty fun." Challenging game and also you get some good laughs when your dude bails hard.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was hoping for something like Kerbal but with a different twist. Instead I found just an endles stream of short-puzzles It's like Poly Bridge (which I consider marginal), but without the charm or much of a point. You build craft with really stupid blocks, not cool/awesome blocks like Space Engineers, but really stupid blocks on these tiny asteroid-planets with absurd constraints and for no reason whatsoever. BLEH.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Is it just me, or does this game get incredibly boring after a very short time? I mean, ye, it's good, but it does get very repetitive.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Build Vehicles to accomplish objectives. Get as weird with it as you want. I won't tell anyone. 7/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →try to rocket jump. be instantaneously obliterated. ragdoll corpse gets propulsed 200 m ahead in the goal, all the while having memebers flailing. level validated. cant thumb it down.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played it, expecting it to be like besiege, and I typically like these games. The campaign however I really find very challenging which can be fun sometimes. I just wish they had more things to do in it. Perhaps building something to destroy something or deliver something. The game would be awesome then!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite fun to create your own aircrafts and cars, it's great for being creative and it is also great to test it out on a public game. I found it to be a very great game for a while, you get bored after some time but it's still worth it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great game i love it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is not a finished game, the dev may say so but this feels poorly made, like it should be on a mobile device from 2012. I can't recommed this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is fun for a while. It really needs some serious updates to make it better.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is dead, for those who want to test it: I suggest you turn away, as it seems as if this title and the buyers have abandoned it. Its a shame really, it seemed like a good opportunity of a game AT FIRST.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun game! Pros: -Tons of creativity! -Awesome art style. -Easy building. -Fun to play! -Game boots up INSTANTLY. ---- Cons: -Laggy on lower end systems. ----- Awesome game, fun to build things and drive them around!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game does not feel complete, and barely qualifies as a, "physics sandbox" as the physics are nonsensical. Nothing seems to work as intended. I have tried everything and had no success in making a vehicle that works. There isn't even a tutorial to help me figure it out. Right now I would avoid this game.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Autocraft, developed and published by Alientrap, is a construction-focused sandbox puzzle game that revolves around creativity, experimentation, and the unpredictable nature of physics-driven design. It places players in a series of compact, self-contained environments and challenges them to build functional vehicles capable of reaching specific objectives. While the premise is simple, the experience quickly becomes a blend of problem-solving and improvisation, where success depends on how well…
