A hardcore platformer with a neat presentation, good voice-acting, and an absolutely cringeworthy soft sci-fi story. Having played it for 2-3 hours, its mechanics seem completely broken. It's trying to be hard, but only manages to be frustrating, thanks to lack of mid-level checkpoints: perfecting a level requires collecting 3-6 things, in a row, without making a single mistake - die once, and you'll have to do it …

This game starts out fun, with a VVVVVV gravity flipping mechanic, but after about 2 hours it gets unreasonably hard, with a runner level out of the blue where every single microsecond has to be perfect or you have to restart the level from scratch. Who likes that kind of thing?! Why have developers confused punishing for fun? Sure, some people like games like super meat boy which are built around the concept (plus …

I stopped playing this game after a little over an hour, because i felt i was trying too hard to have fun, and the game was too annoying. Here's why i did not like this game: It feels more like a game designed for a cellphone, in terms of style. The mechanics and control of the game are not smooth or fun at all. The guide character is kind of annoying and unhelpful. The puzzles didnt feel really smart, just kind of obnoxious. I found a few lines of the introduction a bit funny, but after…

This game doesn't know if it wants to be a puzzle platformer or a precision platformer, and absolutely does not have the tight controls required to be the latter. Pros: - Some of the gravity changing puzzles are pretty fun - The story was interesting - Good voice acting - Graphics are good Cons: - The game requires incredibly precise movement to solve some 'puzzles'. Black Hole is a puzzle-platforming game that sets out to be interesting, challenging and funny at the same time. A couple of hours into the game, the interesting part faded, challenging feels more like frustrating, and funny it never really was. As many other platformers, it primarily fails due to its inadequate controls - and in some situations, it feels like the controls are not only awkward, but they're trying to actively sabotage the player's instinctive efforts. It's too bad as the game…

When you are a bad dev making a puzzle platformer and the only way you can think of to make it "difficult" is to make the physics trash and put innumerable blind jumps and traps then add on top, minutes long finnicky puzzles that have to be restarted from scratch every time some unavoidable death happens, you end up with this game. Game had potential, voice acting is really well done (AI voice mod is trash though) and was still entertaining despite the writing that seems to have been done by…

I did my best to like Blackhole, but I ended up uninstalling after the first world. I didn't like the story and humor at all, and the "gravity shift" puzzles require way too much trial and error. This is because there's often no way to see where you'll end up when gravity changes. This was rather frustrating for me, since I often ended up in spikes or lava, which kills you immediately and require you to start the level all over again. Meh.

It's definitely a hardcore puzzle platformer. Not a ton of mechanics, there's a big emphasis on trial and error execution and exploration -- as in die/repeat to explore the puzzle areas. This, coupled with what feels like fickle unpolished controls/physics (unreliable coyote timings, arbitrary button press cooldowns, ugh the ledge grabs, water resistance and timings...) is definitely a bummer for me though. The amount of frustration with lack of payoff makes hard to recommend. But OCD…

I was semi-optimistic about Blackhole heading into it, in spite of a somewhat rocky start that was already setting off some red flags when I was given the opportunity to bypass the grating AI sidekick character, only to find that I can't actually enter any levels without it. The gravity-flipping mechanic is pulled off pretty well, and the level designs were pretty solid -- just obtuse enough to encourage experimentation without being too frustrating. The timing for the water-bouncing mechanic…

To begin with - playing with a controller where the dialog in the beginning last 5 minutes, and where the controller shakes the entire time was unbearable. Was no option to go into settings and remove it until these 5 minutes were done. So we're not off to a great start.. For a game where precision is key, this has to have the worse player control I've ever experienced. Also, the graphics are repetitive and boring. The AI jokes tries to hard, and therefore not funny. It’s a BDSM simulator where you are always the submissive and there’s lava play. I wish taking a shower after it degrades you helped recover some dignity, but I guess that goes against the fantasy. This platformer is just way too hard for me. If you are into those, it’s harder than meatboy and maybe on the cusp of IWBTG but I can’t be sure. It’s one of those games I’m never going to play. Annoyingly, Blackhole is just a light 'not recommended'. It makes a terrible first impression with an agonisingly long cutscene and then voice over dialogue that you can't even move through. I was pretty much ready to uninstall but it turns out the mechanics for the puzzle solving are really great. The puzzle rooms are mostly fun, and the world map to explore is a fun mini break from the harder puzzle rooms. The final point for me was realising how often the puzzles seemed torn between pure…

Just today, after a long hiatus, I gave it another try but still couldn't seem to enjoy the gameplay. In BLACKHOLE, there are around 12 or so levels per area. Those of you familiar with Mario Maker will know exactly what I mean when I say this game is hot garbage. The game runs stable for me, but the game itself has way to many puzzle design faux pas to excuse. 1. There is a level early on (1-9 to be specific) that requires knowledge of an obscure game physics quirk that the player can't be reasonably expected to figure out on their own. 2. The game has multiple instances of blind jumps and yes, I'm taking the camera scroll options into account.…

Hate to say it, but I just didn't have fun playing Blackhole. The controls feel a bit stiff, I wasn't a huge fan of the art, and the level design was just alright. My biggest gripe, however, is how bad it feels to make precision jumps and whatnot while changing gravity. I felt I had very little control over where I was going to land after being forced into freefalls, yet the game seemed to expect me to have mastered the mechanic pretty early on. This game does difficultly the wrong way imo:…

I admit I haven't been very far in this. It's not necessary a bad game, and I'm quite sad to downvote it, because it has potential. But there are some flaws that makes the whole experience pretty poor : - First and foremost, the controls are awful. There's a lot of inertia in the moves, which makes especially jumping terrible. Water physics are also difficult to get. Maybe that's on purpose, to increase difficulty (bad kind of difficulty, though) and maybe with some practice, it gets better. I…

As far as I remember the story was pretty interesting. The voice acting pretty nice and the mechanics were, let's say, varied. I'd say you get a decent experience out if this game for the money you pay if you just stop at achieving the bare minimum in order to make the game progress. Way better than many more I tried, but it still has poor mechanics, and already at level 3-4 it gives the idea you don't know what you are supposed to do, or whether you have already done what you had to. BLACKHOLE is a game published by Fiolasoft. A Czech game company. It features an hard platforming and some secrets and Easter Eggs. It has got some strengths and weaknesses: + The game is hard, but challenging. + It features some decent soundtracks and graphics. + Dialogues are very funny. + Multilanguage support. - At some time, the game can be repetitive. Stages 4, 5, 6 should be designed better. - DLCs suck (the Testing Lab is very boring). - Replay doesn't work correctly. Rating 7.5/10

The developers have made the game challenging yet not frustrating. There are many pros like smart level design, nice graphics and music, precise control, sense of humor and the options how to set up the game to be enjoyable for almost everyone. I do not see many cons here, maybe the difficulty sometimes, the absence of some living enemy creatures or the the local multiplayer. Blackhole is suitable for kids and might develop their motoric abilities and logical thinking. Pros: - sense of humor…

Couldn't get past the corny dialogue and awful scripting. Made me feel mildly homicidal, uninstalled to save my sanity.

Very difficult and challenging puzzles! If that is what you enjoy, go for it! Otherwise it is super hardcore and frustating.

You will rage a lot. You will tear your hair out. You will destroy your keyboard. Are you okey with it? So this is the just game for you. Excellent dubbing, amazing story and wonderful music. Just buy it. Now.

This game cheated me...That was so freakin unfair. 3 spells in a row from Time Devourer with it getting to cast Genius AND Blackhole. I mean come on, I only get to cast one spell!! How do you think that's fair dev team?!...oh well there's always Thursday night for the rematch.

I was clued onto this idea by gamedev youtubers (jonas tyroller among others), but I've been browsing Steam daily and in general the games that are the strongest on delivering their message tend to do pretty well. "A Game About Feeing A Blackhole" comes to mind as a current example.
