Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 169 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Positive (612 of 815 positive).
Many note the game suffers from a low player count, making online matches hard to find. [1][2][3] Some reviewers criticize it as a cheap Smash clone with limited characters and balance issues. [4][5][6]

5/10 Brawlout’s cast numbers 25 individual fighters. WRONG!!! Only 10 characters to choose from after that its reskins and tiny micro changes to abilities thats not worth the hassle - No items in the game 5 game modes - Coin grab - King of the hill + Bomb drop where characters drop bombs every X amount of time + Sudden death 300% damage already done - Plague cloud of death follows you around + Its got a single …

The best underrated game I've played It's so underrated that if you read the reviews (most are from 2017 / 2018), they basically say it sucks or it's a terrible smash clone. The "Smash clone" label bothers me because with that logic every shooter should be called a doom clone and every 3D platformer is a Mario 64 clone. It's not fair to call any platform fighter a Smash clone because it stifles innovation on a …

More Melee than Melee. If you enjoy the speed and technical skill required to play SSBM, you'll absolutely enjoy this game. It has come a long way since early release, and every update since has been free. As of this review the fan community and developer support is still alive and well, despite being presently overshadowed in the platform-fighter genre, which should really tell you how much potential this game has. …

Brawlout feels like a cheap version of Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. It’s definitely not the best clone, but it is totally fine for the price. The graphics and the art still are quite nice. The soundtrack is okay. The character variety is kind of small. They should add more characters, instead of skins. There is a good choice of maps. The gameplay is rather simple: Kick your opponents out of the map. The controls are …

The "Smash clone" label bothers me because with that logic every shooter should be called a doom clone and every 3D platformer is a Mario 64 clone. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like smash but not quite as fun. Still pretty cool to see random indie game characters come together.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"As well as cosmetic skins, each original Brawlout character has three Variants; alt versions of the character with different stats, outfits and even new moves. With these Variants, Brawlout’s cast numbers 25 individual fighters." Do you remember Smash Bros. Wii U? Maybe you haven't even played it, but it happens to be my favorite Smash game for one reason alone: All non-DLC characters had unlockable alternative special moves (two variants for Up-Special, two for Down-Special, etc.) I really…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hey AngryMobGames! According to SteamCharts, Together with my friend Colin we are some of your last players. That is not a dig, I just want to let you know that we really appreciate your game, and we find it a shame that it was never given a chance by the larger public. So here goes my proper review: The game is clunky, but that works in its favour. it's charming, the moves are gloriously unbalanced. Projectiles are overpowered, recoveries are (with some exceptions) too strong and commands…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't think I've ever posted this #cosplay selfie from #GamesCom 2017 anywhere. Totally unscripted encounter from when the drifter got added to Brawlout. The booth staff was really excited and I got to play the game for a bit (I was bad at it). #hyperlightdrifter

Gameplay is centered around combat, with players being able to fill up the Rage Meter to perform Rage Burst & Rage Mode.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the closest thing you can get to smash on the pc , runs great just needs more characters
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is probably the best Smash clone out there, and the developers show it no love. I think with some new characters, stages and maybe a few other refreshes this game could have another boom. It really does have decent mechanics and plays well online, just needs to be given some love by it's creators again.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No matter how good the game is, it doesnt matter if theres no one to play it with. Game is dead you'll never find a match.

neutral · AI labelView post →Decent Smash Bros. clone. Smooth animations, different moves, characters from other games like Hyper Light Drifter, Yooka-Laylee, Deadcells, Guacamelee, what's not to like? Music from aforementioned games. Only downside is limited number of characters. This one is actually good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you don't play brawlout, you a chump. Get off me!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →if you have a buddy and like platform fighters this game is a lot of fun you should mess around with it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First point, this game is incredible but it's sadly missing players !! (It took me 7 minutes of queue to find a match with a player in ranked in Europe server) but even if you don't play online there are still some gameplay mode in offline where you can have fun as well as in online matches.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's fun, but I feel it's missing something like more characters or moves, but the game is wholesome in some way, I like it

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite enjoyed my second go at this game. The trial and arcade modes make for good singleplayer content as you grow accustomed to the mechanics. Being able to remap controls to one's liking definitely improved my experience. Character models, animations, and effects are good for an indie title. The dialogue interactions between characters are fun, though they do get repetitive on replays. Overall, I quite enjoyed my time with the game and would recommend to snag it on a sale. Though, if you're…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's pretty cool , At first I had a problem figuring out the controls and combo system but after checking out the tutorial it all made sense and I had a blast playing it with a friend
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game, but the best thing is the community. You can really feel they love the game. It's always fun to fight someone, even though they are better than yourself. No toxicity at all:) Worth every penny.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't really understand the review bombing : The game is nervous (SSBM style), fun AND beautiful, which is not the case for Slap City. Very easy to pick up, works on my linux potato PC perfectly... What's not to like ? I'll keep playing both Slap City and Brawlout, and see which one is the best, but if you can grab it for cheap, go for it : this game is certainly worth a revival. EDIT : I've refunded Slap City. No regrets.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a cheap knockoff of Super Smash Bros and, if you got it for $1.00 on sale like I did, it is a great buy. For $20? No. It's just not there and doesn't bring enough to justify over $12 tops.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty fun game so far but I do have to say the online community seems dead, which is a shame, as that's why I wanted to primarily get it. The single player story mode gets stupidly easy until you have to fight the bosses which is where the main challenge is at. Lovely visuals, cool characters, move sets are fab - Just a shame there doesn't seem to be anyone to play with? I will put recommended because it is at its core a polished, full game which offers a lot but if you're looking for…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a fantastic 'Super Smash Bros.' inspired brawler! It's super easy to pick up and play, but difficult to master—so it's a great party game, but also offers some challenge competitively. It's really becoming something special with the addition of each of the mascots/characters from other indie games like 'Hyper Light Drifter' and 'Guacamelee!'; this is shaping up to be a nice possible competitor to Nintendo's flagship brawler. Like the indie version of 'Playstation All-Stars'... but…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Brawlout was a game under my radar. I'm not a typical fighting game fan, nor am I a hardcore smash brothers fan. BUT what I AM a fan of is good games, and this one has enough hooks to it to keep me coming back. PROS Fun moves to try out and master, without being too complicated Lots of things to UNLOCK: skins, avatars, and new character variants, OH MY Daily Login rewards - gotta get them piñatas, bois! (...oh come on. like loot-boxes, YOU know ;) Trials mode - a rogue-lite-lite in the…

neutral · AI labelView post →i honestly dont know what to say about this game. its just another one of those smash bros clones that flopped. and this one flopped HARD. Its character roster is small but has some cool characters in there like Juan, the guy from dead cells and... idk, those are the only ones i know. the controls are bad and not easy to get used to. Just buy any other fighting game than this one. this game isnt really worth it. its abandoned "and i think we know why", its sucky, the only good characters are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Brawlout is an energetic and unapologetically aggressive platform fighter that seeks to put its own spin on a genre long dominated by heavyweight franchises. Developed and published by Angry Mob Games, it positions itself as a faster, more offense-driven alternative to traditional platform brawlers, favoring constant movement and pressure over defensive play. From the moment a match begins, the game makes it clear that it wants players to stay on the attack, rewarding momentum, quick reactions,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Brawlout is a console ported 2D small level PvP arena platform brawler, essentially a couch-focused ripoff of Super Smash Bros, but not as good. Couch gaming really isn't a thing for PC gamers which leaves the single player vs AI component, and multiplayer online. Single player is a fairly lame botmatching game, you'd be better off playing a proper "Versus" fighting game like Street Fighter or Injustice. That leaves multiplayer, and that's dead, because this kind of game just isn't great…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Basicaly it's an Indie Smash. Not that it's a bad thing. The game needs more balance (theres a lot of inconsistencies in the damage and the launch power of the player), the online is not that good and really wish there was more content (like players, escenarios). However... I really had fun with this game. I see a lot of potencial in this game and I enjoy it, and thats good enough for me :). I wish Angry Mob Games many successes.
