Some players enjoy the game's presentation and power-ups, finding it a fun casual experience. [1][2] Many reviewers criticize the flashy graphics and sluggish paddle controls for hindering gameplay. [3][4][5] Several players recommend buying the game only at a steep discount due to its limited value. [6][7][8]

as a casual and very amateur breakout player I liked brick breaker. great presentation, both the graphics and audio, rebindable controls (enter to launch balls, why?), fun power-ups that stack, so you can have multiple fireballs bouncing around, for example. 100 single player levels to complete with 5 lives each, a 3-star rating system based on score, local and online leaderboards, but only one level unlocked at a …

I like it for 99 cents. finished arcade and the last 50 levels are very tedious. graphical effects cannot be disabled and will lead to inevitable deaths. Can't imagine anyone finishing survival mode since you start with 5 lives, life pickups are quite limited and random and it would take several hours to complete in one sitting - serious oversight. Thanks for playing but there are better ball busters out there. …

I usually buy all the arkanoid type of games i can find and at this point i would reckon myself as a fairly experienced player of this kind of genre so i had quite high hopes for this game unfortunately my expectations was far from met. Pros: Relly nice looking game for an arkanoid. Can be played on mouse (eventhough releasing the ball and shoooting is done on the keyboard). Can be played on controller. Cons: Screen …

I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate this game, words can't truly describe how terrible this is but I'll try anyway. Paddle speed is limited & often delayed which which makes using the mouse garbage. Dumbass effects are constantly blocking your view Garbage physics throw your ball in random directions CONSTANTLY, hitting a corner in this game is like random direction roulette. There's absolutely no ball control, later levels in this game …

Breakout games are one of the simplest arcade sub-genres, which is why there are only main three pillars that create the very basis of a good breakout: - good physics of the ball and paddle - good visibility of the ball - no input lag Brick Breaker fails to do any of these right. I could talk about all the secondary stuff like scoring system, visuals, power-ups and so on but it really doesn't make any difference as …

neutral · AI labelView post →Unfortunately, this game has a huge issue. First, let me say that if you're looking for the type of action you remember from Alleyway and similar games from the arcade and NES days, Brickbreaker has it. The problem is (and I can't confirm whether this is a problem with the game's programming or somehow had to do with my particular controller) that the controller goes absolutely nuts whenever you're in the menu, making picking game modes and levels nearly impossible. It scrolls through options…

I basically just played on my Gameboy trying to beat the latest Pokémon or he let me play Brick Breaker on his phone. He showed me the server room and I thought it was noisy and cold, but cool.
neutral · AI labelView post →This is a pretty brick breaker. Very well put together. The only thing I don't like is that it's too flashy and when you hit the bricks, it's hard to see the ball because it's just as flashy. Other than that, i recommend. 8/10

neutral · AI labelView post →The graphics are annoying and distracting, making the game unnecessarily more difficult. The paddle gets stuck and doesn't respond when you need it to the most. I feel this is done intentionally. The sound effects are pretty annoying.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A proper Arkanoid clone, usually at a very cheap price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game makes so many mistakes for being a simple Breakout style vidya that it's almost unbelievable. 1) The paddle has a top speed, meaning no matter how fast you move your mouse, the paddle has to catch up with the mouse. This makes fast twitch reaction gaming IMPOSSIBLE. It's absurd that this would ever be a thing for a brickbreaker on PC. To make things EVEN WORSE, tho, the paddle is controlled by where the hidden mouse cursor is on the screen. This may not make sense, but basically if…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's fine at best. Very much on par with flash games of yore. I have a couple problems with it I can't look past though. - This game needs VSync or frame limitation. Badly. I don't need to be blasting this at 2000 fps so my GPU starts cooking. - The paddle has a limiter on how fast it can move, which is wildly unnecessary - Some of the physics are funky I paid $1 for it, so I'm not mad, but these are relatively basic things that can be fixed by the developer. Definitely feels like a first…

neutral · AI labelView post →Brick Breaker, as available on Steam, is a modern homage to one of the most enduring video game genres—arcade brick-breaking. Drawing inspiration from classics like Breakout and Arkanoid, this iteration attempts to recapture the addictive simplicity of bouncing a ball to shatter rows of bricks, while updating the formula with visual enhancements, varied power-ups, and a more polished user interface. At its best, Brick Breaker delivers a satisfying, reflex-driven gameplay loop that’s easy to…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The main reason I got this game is the pack with all four (Mahjong, Brick Breaker, Solitaire and Tetraminos) were on sale for under $3. With that in mind I will give this 4 stars. If it cost more the score would be lower. For the lifetime price for no ADs it is worth the buy.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too flashy, it makes playing harder because you can't see the ball. Another anoying thing is the bar, it is very sluggish on it's movements.

When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was pretty fun and casual, however once you hit level 35 the implementation of "reverse" controls from the negative power ups is pretty rough. Instead of simply inverting the controls, you are either moving completely left or completely right with no actual inverted control. There isn't a "challenge" from this, you are either luck because the ball hits one corner or the other due to your limited span of control
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a par-for-the-course breakout game. It leverages some of the basic powerups that we first saw waaaayyy back in the day when the first Arkanoid game was released in the arcade...and that's about it. It doesn't introduce any new twist or concept of any kind. It's like someone read a basic manual on what a breakout game entails and just created that in a paint-by-the-numbers kind of way. Zero imagination went into this game. The game looks good enough, but even that starts to become a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So. This game. Its both great, and incredibly frustrating. I purchased it because it was A. 99 cents and B. Ive always like brick breaker games. This game however is just irritating. Not because of the difficulty, not because of the game play or anything that would normally make a game irritating. No, this game is irritating because of the graphics. Everything looks like it was made in the 80's when neon and flashing lights were the best they could do. This game has SOOOOO much going on when…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a Break Out game. Not much to really say. Pretty fun though. Although I would recommend getting this game during a sale rather than at full price. $10 is a bit too much for a game everyone and their grandmother have played a clone of at some point in time... Especially when some of those other clones are free. Here's a free (and open-source) alternative if you're tight on funds: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1145020/Break_Arcade_Games_Out/

positive · AI labelView post →Play something like Brick Breaker or Bubble Pop, that goes rapidly from side to side.
neutral · AI labelView post →Reading the complaints about Brick Breaker, you'd think that the main problems are visual effects and clunky physics. Although some of it is justifiable, what drags the game down in my opinion is something entirely different. One of the best looking brick-breaker out there, the aptly named "Brick Breaker" does have a lot of visual noise, no doubt about it. However, you'll rarely lose your ball because of it, as it's usually very manageable. The controls breaking and becoming unresponsive in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The paddle is not smooth and even bugs out at times. Not worth full price or a dollar imo.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was fun but incredibly difficult. Can't turn off explosions so when you're going ham, mass explosions fill your screen making it impossible to find yourself. Also turn the ball's noise effects to absolute zero unless you want an aneurysm. 6/10...it'll do
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like arkanoids or brick type games but this one... I just dislike, especially "multiplayers" mode. Buy only for someone who's really into this type of game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played with keyboard so can't really see the controller issues other people have pointed out. Picked up for £1.39 in steam sale. I would say this game isn't worth £6.99. But for the price I bought it for, this game is worth it. Pros: Good sharp graphics Nice pleasant soundtrack Good game physics Nicely presented Levels are fun to play and progression feels natural Nice retro neon feel Cons: Graphics can be a bit distracting at points You can press space to choose options in the menu but not…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a good game and they had a certain style with it and that is OK. But I do not like small things: - Menu sound is too loud. - The paddle lags somehow. Something is wrong. - As people already have pointed out: The ball needs to be triggered by keyboard but should be by mouse click. I had the feeling I don't like the game although it was obviously an okay game and it felt unfair, so I checked the review section and found others who think alike. It could be worth the 0,99 bucks. I still…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game feels like something has gone seriously wrong somewhere. The controls and gameplay feel sluggish, and it doesn't feel like any part of the actual game is running at 60 FPS. The ball, animations, and general gameplay all feel noticeably slow and unresponsive. The menus seem to be the only part of the game that feels smooth. For a game as simple as Brick Breaker, I honestly have no idea how they managed to get so much of the game wrong. The overall presentation and gameplay feel…
