It's a "show, don't tell" movie. 90% is just Steve, McQueen and other characters looking at stuff and thinking. Yes, that car chase—but there's lots else!

neutral · AI labelView post →I’m watching the special features of 1973’s THE SEVEN-UPS and the director, who produced BULLITT and THE FRENCH CONNECTION, talks about how he and a young Steven Spielberg did research for a month on trying to adapt CRUISING as a film. It fell apart and Spielberg made JAWS a year later.

BULLITT (1968) among my personal favs. One of the best jazz film scores ever written, by the preeminent Latin American film composer. #filmsky #musicsky
positive · AI labelView post →Do people today know about Bullitt... Do they know that Pixar Cars McQueen is named after Steve McQueen starring in this movie. It's just funny to me when a reference kind of supersedes the original in pop culture
neutral · AI labelView post →Anyway film school was funny because we had a "car chases in movies" section and we got to watch Bullitt

neutral · AI labelView post →Robert L. Pike’s Mute Witness was the source material for the Steve McQueen film Bullitt. In the book the main character is named Clancy not Bullitt, and the lead villain is named Rossi not Ross.
neutral · AI labelView post →We already had the perfect Mustang hero car and it was the stock green fastback in Bullitt. Also, Bullitt is a pretty good movie and Gone in 60 Seconds was a less fun kind of bad than I remembered when I watched it last month.
positive · AI labelView post →Ronin is, imo, the best car chases ever presented in film. It dethroned Bullitt immediately. It even challenges The Blues Brothers as the most entertaining car chases ever in film.
neutral · AI labelView post →I have watched often: Ronin, Bad Education, Godfather 2, Charade, Bullitt, all but three of the Mission Impossible films and all but one of the Daniel Craig James Bond films. I will post about one movie each day and throw in a picture of Stanford too. Hope you enjoy Crewsing Movies, starting soon.

neutral · AI labelView post →The Purple Onion a comedy club with a seating of eighty in a basement in North Beach San Francisco popular in the late 50s and 60s was deemed to be too small for the filming of the night club scene in the movie Bullitt staring Steve McQueen and Jacqueline Bissett. @hale-ie-maia.bsky.social
neutral · AI labelView post →My only tiny quibble with #Bullitt is I feel Jacqueline Bisset’s role is underwritten. Her performance is good. I just wish they had given her a bit more to do. Still, a great movie! #TCMParty

positive · AI labelView post →> I believe The French Connection is the movie that started the current script for car chases. Bullitt would like a word
neutral · AI labelView post →Bullitt (1968) Director: Peter Yates.
neutral · AI labelView post →I believe Bullitt was the first major studio film to use the word 'bullshit' in its dialog. It's in the second scene between Steve McQueen and Robert Vaughn. Of course, Steve utters it perfectly.
neutral · AI labelView post →Steve McQueen is great in Bullitt (1968) and the movie is excellent, because director Peter Yates understands the McQueen image and works within it. It’s one of the best action movie of the Sixties. The beautiful thing is that the screenwriter keeps everything straight.
positive · AI labelView post →Reminds me a bit of the '68 Mustang from the Steve McQueen movie "Bullitt". It disappeared for decades and was eventually located accidentally, unused, in somebody's garage. In 2020, it was sold at auction for $3.74 million. www.caranddriver.com/features/a19...

positive · AI labelView post →#Bullitt #TCMParty Of all of the #SanFrancisco vibes in this film, asking your hipster criminal-contact Eddie to get you some back-channel information, and to meet you at Enrico's in North Beach and then be asked to help out Eddie's convict pal "Soft Shoe" ... that's it, that's the vibe.

neutral · AI labelView post →'Bullitt' with Steve McQueen has always been a cool film with a cool soundtrack by Lalo Schifrin. There are two versions of his soundtrack: his rerecording in 1968 with a more 'pop' sound. And the original film soundtrack which was not released until a Film Score Monthly 2009 release.
