Buried
Directed by Rodrigo Cortés
As an American civilian truck driver working in Iraq, Paul Conroy's convoy is attacked by a group of Iraqi insurgents. Some time later, Paul awakes in a coffin with only a lighter, a cell phone, and his ever-growing anxiety. Faced with a dwindling oxygen supply and a dying battery, he must fight panic, despair, and delirium as he races against time to escape the claustrophobic death trap. From TMDB

We talk about Romero a lot, but when you think of indestructible zombies hungry specifically for brains, you're thinking O'Bannon.

Sort’ve a sleepy Re-Animator in Murder She Wrote’s Cabot Cove, a sweet spot between Messiah of Evil and The Fog just oozing with rural seaside evil and mood to fucking spare. Small town apocalypse at its best!

Many more are left to rot in dark rooms without care, disbelieved and dismissed. It’s a living death. #pwme #millionsmissing #severeME 1/

As I got older, I realized that I'd actually call DEAD & BURIED one of the best horror movies of the 80s – which is saying something indeed, but the flick backs me up.
positive · AI labelView post →Took Jess & some friends out for round 2 of THE RIVALS OF AMZIAH KING. As expected, the feels came very early & stayed the whole time. Once you know where it's going, you realize the structural magic trick the movie is pulling. "Buried guns" all over the place in what may be my favorite film of 2026
neutral · AI labelView post →I’m honestly not interested in film adaptations of his work because they’re so chilling & beautiful, & I’d rather not my experience & imagery be overwritten by the film version… …the exception is the upcoming Guillermo Del Toro stop-motion adaptation of The Buried Giant (which I haven’t read yet)!

The film leans heavily into visual atmospherics as the book elevates the sheriff's wife as a POV. A shift away from the book's thriller mode puts the film into gore horror. 🪦🧟♀️😱 #booksky #filmsky

neutral · AI labelView post →Dead and Buried is a turn-your-brain-off-and-stop-asking-questions kind of movie, although it might have something kinda smart to say about death and beauty. Idk, the makeup and general look of the movie were great. Add another one to the "unfriendly locals" genre

Short read, absolutely wild premise of an elephant researcher's mind being transferred into a cloned Mammoth in the distant future. Deals with the idea of non-human animals having unseen cultures that are just as important as their genetic material for the species' survival. That and how destructive humanity is to the environment and ourselves. I actually read Palaces of the Crow earlier this year and while it is less sci…
