Not worth playing. At first glance it looks o.k, but after chapter 1 it gets boring. Boss fights are not interesting, you keep running out of stamina and manna withing 5 seconds. Not much for upgrading. You have to do it in special places which hell knows where,no directions at all. You keep running around without any idea where to go. You pick up a lot of items but little use of it. Could be a good game if executed …

Absolutely stunning game. The art style is beautiful and dreamlike, with smooth animations and a magical world that pulls you in. Combat felt great on mouse and keyboard, especially using the staff and bow. The first boss was tough but super rewarding, can’t wait to see the rest of the journey!

Bygone Dreams is a hidden gem. It threw me straight into a fantastical, dreamlike world full of mysterious puzzles, beautiful landscapes, and strange, intriguing enemies. Combat? Chef’s kiss. The game could really benefit from some major quality-of-life improvements—like fast travel between zones and the ability to move and heal during combat. The blocking mechanic feels underpowered and needs a serious rework. Progression is also far too unclear for most players; adding a journal or objective tracker would help keep things on course. Apparently I backed this game on Kickstarter apropos of nothing some time ago, and recently I just received a code for the game via email, so I decided "why not, I'll check it out right now." Now, normally if I reviewed a game I'd do that thing where I put up a list of Pros and Cons to show where the balance reaches, but holy jesus there's just not really any Pros to speak of. The kindest things I could list about this game would reach the lofty heights of "nothing to write home about" and…

This game feels like a project that is build with hearts but a bit lacking in actual works.. Here's why: - The visual, audio, environment and overall vibe is over the chart. I can see that developer put their hearts into making it. - Game is focused on how the world build rather than overall actual gameplay. Yes, the gameplay mechanic is well build and actually playable, but minor details such as weapon hit box, directions, maps, etc isn't available on the game. I feel like if the dev play…

While this game is ambitious and some of the artstyle is pretty that is about as far as i can give praise. The negatives are numerous While this seems inspired by a few different kinds of games and its serviceable as a souls-like inspired. It doesn't really deliver on any of those fronts that make those games fun The combat just feels overall slow and quite a bit stunted. So doing combos or even blocking can feel janky. The bow uses mana which doesn't recharge on its own which seemingly is…

I don’t usually play games like Bygone Dreams, but I was curious to try it out—and I’m glad I did, at least in part. There’s a lot here that I enjoyed: the soundtrack is beautiful, the character designs are striking, and I liked seeing the variety of gear and upgrades available as I played. Those touches made the world feel interesting and alive. That said, I ran into some issues that kept me from finishing. My game crashed in the middle of a cut-scene, and when it reloaded, it sent me back to…

The settings menu is buggy. When I went to change the camera sensitivity, the game reset to the default 1024x768 resolution in windowed mode for some reason. If you use KB/M and you click on an input you want to rebind with the mouse, you won't be able to enter a keyboard input. You have to navigate the menu with the keyboard to change any keyboard button bindings. The NVIDIA Overlay also showed the game was using 99% of my GPU which seems ridiculous when I've played much more demanding games…

Pretty boring and buggy, combat is... not great. I got stuck on the second quest, I destroyed the 2 generators and then nothing, just running around in circles with no guidance and I can't get the quest guide to pop up any more, sounds like this has been a known issue that the dev has done nothing about.

The game is not up to modern standards for games. Animations are clunky at best. The graphics feel unfinished, even using the excuse of old-school nostalgia isn't enough to cover for the game's faults. After only 15 minutes, I had to go the store page to double check if this was still in very early access, and somehow it isn't. I would say I can't recommend this game in the current version, but this is the final release version, so take from that what you will.

Bygone Dreams is a fantasy action-adventure title that embraces the idea that independent studios can still deliver imaginative worlds without relying on massive budgets or established franchises. Developed by Prime Time and published by Prime Time, GrabTheGames, and CyberStep, Inc., the game places players in the mystical realm of Lume, a land slowly succumbing to an ancient corruption known as the Nightmare. Taking control of Wa, a guardian chosen to preserve what remains of this fractured…

The game starts a bit slow and a little confusing, but it grows on you fast. It ended up being much bigger than I thought, with a rather large world and lots of puzzles and secrets to find out. It is a Zelda-like, but in many aspects it has reminded me of Soul Reaver, Darksiders, Nier: Automata, Spyro and even the old PS One game Tomba. The devs were definitely inspired by at least some of these. The art style is very pleasing to the eye, the music, the voice acting and level design are top…

Compared to other action-adventure RPGs, Bygone Dreams offers a distinct experience rooted more in emotional storytelling and cultural atmosphere than in pure mechanical challenge. The main thing for me about Bygone Dreams is its atmosphere. It brings something new to the genre by blending an aesthetic visual that feels emotionally unique. That said, it’s not without flaws. I’d say I moderately enjoy soulslike games – I sweat my way through all three Dark Souls and Bloodborne until I finally got those platinum trophies on PlayStation, but I’ve often been disappointed by many of their imitators. Bygone Dreams, however, is exactly that type of game. With plants. As usual for the genre, the story doesn’t say much. You play as a… half-plant creature with a not-so-heroic voice and unconvincing behavior, tasked with stopping some kind of evil and gathering mystical…

I jumped into this game knowing it was a story-rich adventure, but what I didn't expect was how deeply I would connect with each of the characters. They're all so well-crafted, and even the ones who can be a bit annoying at times—you end up loving them, kind of like that lovable, pesky sibling. The ending honestly brought me to tears multiple times, not just from the boss fight frustrations but also because it’s such a beautifully emotional finish.

Bygone Dreams pulled me into a world that felt more like a memory than a game. Its atmosphere is stunning soft, surreal, and quietly emotional. The visuals and music don’t just set the tone, they are the tone, making every step feel intentional even when you're unsure where to go next. Bygone Dreams feels like wandering through a fairy-tale dreamscape with one foot in magic and the other in molasses. This game has been a lot of fun and i thank the devs for letting me get the chance to play this. The game has some charm with the story telling and world theme. the cut scenes could have been polished however they do give off this nostalgia of the old days. The combat is really good just challenging enough to make it interesting. My favourite part of the game was exploring and solving the puzzles and they game doesn't overly hold your hand. Excellent music, voice acting, animations and character design. The combat is solid and what you would expect from a game in this genre. Its a really unique world, it does feel like a dream at times, but there are some cutscenes that are rough around the edges, however this doesn't take away from the gameplay itself. Overall I would recommend this game to anyone looking for a new adventure.

Haunting world, rich in mood. Slow, but deeply moving.

The game has a stunning atmosphere, style and plot. The gameplay is pleasantly surprising: exciting puzzles, deep development of mechanics, smooth control.

Is this a GOTY candidate? No. It is a solid souls-like, and at $13 it's a no brainer in my humble opinion. I put some hours into the demo, and the full game is just more of what I enjoyed so much.
