Players appreciate the nostalgic feel and improvements over older Carnivores games. [1][2][3] Many complain about bugs, poor hit detection, and the lack of content. [4][5][6] Some feel the game is a downgrade from previous releases and not worth the price. [7][8][9]

Honestly, playing this game feels like trying to play a mobile game on a PC. The field of view is painfully low and, as can be expected, you can't adjust it. Compared to what the previous Carnivores game was like, well, as much as I was hoping to see improvement, this is just a let-down. This game has barely anything new and it really bothers me how you're expected to be satisfied with getting the same content …

Scam. This is literally worse than Carnivores Dinosaur Hunter Reborn, which was released nearly 8 years ago here on steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/293520/Carnivores_Dinosaur_Hunter_Reborn/ All this company did was delist that version of the game, and then post this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ version. Wtf Steam?

The game is fun and all, but the thing that I hate is the fact that if you're on a very large rock, like one that's 20-30 feet in height the dinos still kill you. Right now I was hunting Ceratosaurus, perched on a 20-foot tall rock I shot two down but one fazed through the rock and killed me....that's ridiculous. I mean if I was standing on a 6-9 foot tall rock it makes sense since the Ceratosaurus are anywhere from …

Eh... I'm a bit on the fence for this one. I always say that games must be judged for what they are compared to what was their original aim, and... as a dinosaur hunting game, this is undoubtedly lackluster. I can understand the negative reviews. The main problem here is the lack of content considering the asking price. Few dinosaurs, few maps, and few weapons. But the worst thing is, the base game does not bring …

Long ago Carnivores, Carnivores 2, Carnivores Ice Age, & Carnivores Cityscape were the series that gave you plenty of replay value of getting to see what it would be like to hunt dinos on a science fiction island. I would say Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunt can be a serviceable way to experience the Carnivores series. Have improvements been made? I would say equipment absolutely feels to be easier to use & seems more …

And it is not good. Comparing to it's predecessor versions (those being Reborn and HD) this one actually has less content, and what content that has remained is not even in the best working state. (But hey 3rd times the charm I guess for this game's…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wanted to like this game, but it is simply glitchy and unpolished. I was standing on top of a mountain of rocks, and when a dangerous dinosaur ran under the mountain HUNDREDS OF FEET AWAY FROM ME, it somehow killed me. without touching me physically. Game is unfinished.

neutral · AI labelView post →I loved the original Carnivores game back in the 90's, but this game is not it... The developer removed almost all of the weapons from the original game. If i remember, there is like 4 maybe 5 weapons now. No crossbow, no pistol. Getting to the point of unlocking the T-Rex to see how that hunt has changed is super tedious. In order for you to claim your "trophy", you have to approach the dead dino to mark it for transport. This was not the case in the original. This game is the embodiment of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is riddled with rancid bugs that the devs on multiple occasions have said are "features" and aren't going to be fixed, and the devs basically confirmed in the forums that even minor bug fixes to the game would be a miracle to happen in the next year. Between the blatant downgrade from the last release of this game, (which was literally just this release with less bugs and lack of the asset store dlc) and the extremely incompetent devs, this is just garbage at this point. Don't bother.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Last Post was Nanotyrannus, but here is the real deal: Tyrannosaurus! Top predator of the primordial World of FMMUV32, the rex has now traumatized children and adults alike for 26 years since the first Carnivores game released!
neutral · AI labelView post →A carnivores game that is lovingly still supported by the devs, keep the content/updates a rolling along guys! I believe in you! 9/10 needs more lore ridden maps and legacy dinos.

neutral · AI labelView post →Going to be blunt, I got this game for free in a bundle, and here are my thoughts. For a game called "Carnivores" The base game has only 2, The T-Rex and the Ceratosaurus. The game's weapons are terrible and take forever to get to the only one that matters, that being the 50 Cal. Game is buggy, animations are slow, your characters runs in slow motion and IS actually slow. The animals are always too far away and can smell you 8 million miles away, and when you get slightly close they run faster…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Carnivores only eat meat primarily. Humans are omnivores every thing is fair game.
neutral · AI labelView post →this game has been rereleased twice already, every time the developers make us think they were going to actually do something with the game this time, it's always disappointing in the end where the game is abandoned again, the legacy of carnivores deserves so much better than this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very poor remake of the original game, with some utterly awful design decisions which the developer clings to for dear life despite half of the player base telling him they're bad ideas. - Hit detection doesn't work properly. - Cover doesn't work properly. - If you're on top of a rock which is at least twice the height of any dinosaur your are hunting, and they attack you, you are teleported down the ground and a cutscene triggers where you are killed by the dinosaur as if you were never…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Back in the day my sons and I spent an INSANE amount of hours playing Carnivores 2 and Carnivores Ice Age. And I will definitely be spending a lot of time playing *this* iteration of a fantastic series! Ooops. I just got killed by an ankylosaurus. Never mind. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is much more difficult than Carnivores HD, some dinosaurs can spot you from more than 200 feet away while youre standing and you never know if youre close enough to be spotted unless the dinosaur is looking around or facing in your direction, dinosaurs dont ever drop immediately with heart shots or eye shots like they did in Carnivores HD, they bleed to death in varying spans of time according to how much total damage has been done, except with open mouth shots, which are instant…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this to try get some nostalgia for the original 1998 release. I've played sub 20 minutes and I can tell this game is worse than the original in every way. the world is empty apart from dinosaurs no giant dragonflys or mosschops chilling, they removed gallimimus from the huntable dinosaurs for some reason despite it still being around, meaning all you do for your first 30 kills is kill stegosaurs which is boring. and the game is far less lethal, in the 90's version if you wern't using…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Same issues, different release. Uninspired and extremely basic. The game's hit reg doesn't work, clearly hit a dino full front on vitals and it will count as a missed shot. Also some achievements are bugged and have been bugged since launch. Uninstalled and not recommended
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played Carnivores 2 back in the day and I just loved it, I saw this and just had to try it. playing it on my steam deck and I absolutely love it. now it feels like an older game and if you are playing this for the graphics like you are in the wrong spot(don't get me wrong I think it looks good but like in the retro feels old school kinda way). the charm and nostaligia Im getting from this is great. Now if you want the most robust system and zero clunkiness look elsewhere but I've been VERY…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a game best as a young dinosaur obsessed Billy's first foray into video gaming so that he doesn't have anything else to compare it to. His experience with video gaming, after playing this game, will only go up from there. This game is just not good. It very much plays like more of a mobile game and is extremely repetitive. It has that typical jump height that a lot of those mobile games do where you jump like twenty feet into the air despite not being on a planet that shows any…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →*Old Carnivore 2 player review/comparaison* TLDR: Lacks a bit of content, but its good. If youre a returning Carnivore player, this game feels like home. But for me, it has lost some of its flavor... - Virtualy no wildlife (non-huntable Dinos) so the maps feels lifeless sometimes with only a few galiminus running around. I remember watching my back at all times in old games because of the Raptors, and it was scary but fun. -Almost too easy, if youre familiar with First person Shooters, you…

neutral · AI labelView post →Can't believe I am having to write a second review for what essentially amounts to the same game released for the third time now. Sure, I got it for free because I had stupidly bought Dinosaur Hunter when it release about 8 years ago. I thought that maybe DDE would be able to pull their crap together and salvage a little bit of the mess that Tatem Games has created out of the Carnivores franchise. Sadly, this is not the case. I'll explain in brief why. Plain and simple, the Carnivores…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nothing like the original. Predators can glitch-kill you when you're 70' above them on a rock, takes half the fun out of the game right there. Miss the old-school weapons as well and being able to carry more than one primary. Decent effort at recreating a classic, but lots of issues to work out still.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →See I wasn't allowed on our pc in the 90s except like 30 minutes of supervised neopets games or like the game Carnivores so I never suffered
neutral · AI labelView post →Its like playing the old Carnivores games on PC. I hope they will add more dinos like the Ice Age version had.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Broken game. Previous interations you could find the "high ground" and be safe. Multiple times just been run over by a random triceratops when I am 20ft in the air on a rock scoping the area. Shame.. rest of the gameplay is fine and improved graphical quality. But making it impossible to stay alive just takes any joy when you are 2-3 animals in and get a random kill from beneath a rock
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Idea for a Jurassic park game. Park simulator where you build this amazing park. Carnivores and Herbivores. It’s going great. Except as part of the plot you have threatening letters you need to address. Couple hours in the screen goes black. Character wakes up now it’s FSP survival. Get to the boat!
neutral · AI labelView post →Broken game with broken achievements.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game plays. Entertaining, but hitboxes are bad. Shooting over dead dino hitting dead dino kind of stuff. Honestly expected old maps from the first game. Not as good as first game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So this seems to be some kind of re-release of the previous Carnivores made by the same team from 2015. Why they did this goes beyond me. This game is on the surface almost an exact copy of the previous game: Carnivores: Dinosaur hunter reborn. The previous game was bad. A bad succesor to a somewhat legendary franchise. And as I said, this is almost an exact copy, so yep.... this one is just as bad! Actually, it is even worse. Since they are releasing this in 2022! The graphics are awful, the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Considering this game has been re-released several times, it's quite disappointing that the experience is very similar to the previous releases. Digital Dreams obviously doesn't have the resources to keep adding in content for this game, and all of the DLC dinosaurs are free assets. As seen in the previous releases, the game doesn't follow Burian's artstyle like the original games, the game only features 3 weapons and a relatively weak roster of alien dinosaurs. It does get a few aspects right,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I used to play Reborn all the time, this is if Reborn had worse controls, somehow worse graphics and overall a lower quality experience.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm confused... It's just a glitchy port of CDH:Reborn. Half of the [very limited] options menu doesn't even seem to work, sadly. I love this franchise & I would give my left ball for a remaster/port of Ice Age and the original CDH. In the mean time, hopefully this project fleshes out into something more promising.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →def not playing for a good while during the earliest period of release, only the 1st day of release and still yet to see what lies ahead in terms of content, but how does a giga manage to get me from on top of a rock taller than itself....
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This attempt of the 1998 OG feel so generic, full of bugs and with huge pathfinding issues. They even delisted the 2015 version which felt much better than this. I'd say avoid but if you're feeling nostalgic for a Carnivores game then this is all we have left.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Much worse than previous "Dinosaur Hunter: Reborn". I'm fan of the series since Carnivores II (bought it in year 2004). In "Reborn" I had only 1 death, for 100+ killed dinos (WITHOUT license, if you understand what I'm talking about). I'd try to restore this count in "Dinosaur Hunt" but... Game have total troubles with sound. It's impossible to play. Really, all dinos are quiet as bats. Jungles itself are quiet as library, in which from time to time you heared flies trying to sit on you. All…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well for some reason they decided to make a sister game and delete the original. After deletion you can keep it but you already put hours in to it and so when you go to the new one it is even worse than the original. Boring.

neutral · AI labelView post →In it's current state I can not recommend this the original Carnivores games played better than this one ever will at its rate. Dinos give no care in the world to the terrain when it comes to ending you, they go into rocks while you're perched up on them, sitting perfectly still in cover with camo upgrades on and still a dino sees me like what? The weapons make me feel like I'm throwing pebbles at them even with damage upgrades this game is a mess. Really wish someone could just remake the og…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game feels like a shell of what once was the carnivores franchise, the islands seems empty, the hunting selection for dinosaurs and even weapons is lacking, the game has janky texture popping and things like floating rocks occasionaly, simply if you can play carnivores 2, its over 20 years old and is still way better than this and I am incredibly sad for that since it was literally the first game I ever played
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →//ngl i think a modern dinosaur hunting game or Dinosaur survival game should look more like mid century paleoart depictions, inaccuracies n all, i love classic Carnivores but i want that deisgn language in HD

positive · AI labelView post →The dino-hunting genre has so much potential and is explored so little by the games within this genre. This game does provide a large map, a well constructed simulated hunting environment and interesting mechanics. It can even provide some serious scares when hunting dangerous animals. The main issue with this game is the lack of variety, having only a handful of dinosaurs to hunt. There really isn't any sort of end game loop to keep players interested past unlocking everything, and once you…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is basically the same game as "Carnivores: Dinosaur Hunt REBORN" [(2015) I know it makes no sense, the naming of them], with better graphics. It gets a lot of negative reviews but to be honest it's pretty much the exact same game with different, improved in my opinion, key mapping. I liked the "Reborn" version, and I'm liking this one too. It goes on sale for less than $10 bucks US (with the DLC included) and for the life of me I don't understand all the negativity. The DLC adds the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very poor attempt and recreating the original. Honestly lazy development. If you want to play the original game this doesn't feel the same at all and has a bunch of crap glitches/bugs/pure laziness on the devs part.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In my opinion, underrated. Sure, it has its flaws. Some things don't work, for example the "dislpay all dinosaurs" upgrade. But I think it's quite well-made. And most importantly, it's fun. There is a nice variety of maps, dinosaurs and upgrades, so it keeps you engaged. It's different from the good old mobile version as I remember it, but it's still good.
