What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 220 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (1,660 of 1,790 positive).
Players praise Cauldron for its clever mix of minigames and incremental progression. [1][2][3] Some reviewers find the endgame repetitive and padded, leading to a sense of wasted time. [4][5][6] The game is widely recommended for its addictive gameplay and charming presentation. [7][8][9]

It's not bad, really, but it's just so padded that it becomes a bore. Around a third of the way through you unlock the ability to automate the minigames and the rpg battles, and because of that, it just becomes a game you look at as it plays itself. By the end you're going to be pressing auto buy upgrades, auto create party, auto assign skills, you'll watch a minigame play itself for a couple minutes, then run …

Kinda stumbled upon accidently onto this game while just browsing for games. What caught my eye at first is was it felt like there's main game (turn-based) containing multiple minigames which worked like path to upgrade the main game but after 100% the game i must say it's that and much more, it was like playing 6 incremental games at once which complete each other. Collecting apples turns into bullet hell then …

Finally got around to 100%ing and don’t be put off by my time I’m slow lol. A treat of a game and it was really fun! The sprites and art is all super charming and I really liked the story! It has a very diverse cast of characters, addictive gameplay with a few cool surprises, and overall it was a very good premise and I’m glad I 100%ed it. If you’re into cozy games or more chill games this should absolutely be a …

This is a VERY fun and cozy game. I love the way that games evolve over time. One of the most clever incremental games (if you can even classify it as that) around. Also there is a TON of replayability with additional modes that I'm only just now getting to... but then in those modes there's a ton of quality of life improvements that make them feel fun, and not like a slog. Really worth a purchase.

This is an idle game that is also not quite an idle game. Resources and levels are gained through minigames (fishing, mining, and a few others) that you have to perform well on, but then accrue resources automatically, scaling to what your high scores are on the minigames. You then use those resources to buy progression upgrades for those minigames, which can exponentially scale your high scores...and so on into the …
Summarised from 34 of the 281 public posts collected about this game; every point cites the posts behind it ([n] opens the post) and the split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Updated Oct 12, 2026. How summaries are made
Players who liked Cauldron talk about clever integration of multiple minigames with a larger metagame; those who didn't talk about endgame feels padded and repetitive. Which matters more to you?

60 of 322 · most liked firstThis legitimately makes me sad. Most folks my age remember Nelvana from the 2nd Care Bears series and movies. And whats interesting about that is that they were one of the first companies to beat Disney at their own game during the Black Cauldron era no less. This sucks.

I had *wanted* to get a portrait of Jesse with the headphones and everything on, but i had a friend asking about the game and was focused on getting a small clip of this segment to show to him to convince him to try it. I had missed my window. From what i hear you can replay it in the AWE DLC so i'll settle for it there.…

neutral · AI labelView post →Ugh, Cauldron. Yuck. There is a clear attempt at quality here, but in the end, I'm disgusted that I spent so much of my life on this game. Sure, some of it was idle hours, but who are we kidding, there is at least 40 active hours I spent here. A miserable experience, and yet another example of why I should drop games much earlier. Games like this are the price I pay for always giving games a chance, and trying to play them all to completion for a fair and honest review. I came to this game off…

I did play it for over 50 hours and felt compelled enough to 100% the achievements for the game, but at the same time, when all was said and done, I felt like I really just wasted my time. Cauldron’s gameplay is extremely repetitive to the point where your goal every run is to automate everything as fast as possible so you don’t have to play the game anymore. Playing the first run and the minigames in the beginning is pretty fun, but in the end, you just…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →as much as I want to like this game, the minigames which are at its core are just not good. The apple tree minigame is the most fun one but it hits the point of exponential growth too quickly and then there's nothing left to do except grind to a high score which is generally pretty brain dead. the fishing minigame is a complete slog, the most fun I had with it was setting it to autoplay and walking away. it takes way too long to get deep enough for the fish to be worth anything which makes…

neutral · AI labelView post →Cauldron is a game mixing idle, minigames and jRPG elements. Wow, I almost did not buy this game at first because it's expensive for an idle game, but that game has so much content, it's crazy! It is one big jRPG with two different skills trees, 20+ heroes, unlockable areas, items (that are upgradable) and probably other things I am forgetting. The game has 5 main minigames (including a whole bullet heaven (Vampire Survivors-like) minigame) and they are playable either manually or idle, with…

neutral · AI labelView post →It's hard for me to give this game a thumbs up, so it is getting a negative review. While I did get my money's worth (bought on sale, got almost 20 hours in), it was not very rewarding. First, and the reason I am leaving a review, this is a mix between an idle game and playing mini games to get resources. Which is why I don't love the game..... they aren't fun for me. They have clunky, weird controls, they take FOREVER to do, and it just doesn't feel rewarding to me. The combat is fun and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommended Much better than first impressions suggest. The initial playthrough is fun enough, but the real depth comes from the alternate playthroughs, where every completed run unlocks a new super skill that changes how you approach the game. Some skills make early progress easier, while others fundamentally alter gameplay. Modes like Pacifist and Idle feel like entirely different games, each requiring mastery of their unique mechanics. After trying them, I gained a new appreciation for…

neutral · AI labelView post →Perhaps the best incremental game concept I've seen so far. Cauldron offers you a series of minigames which support a larger metagame which involves exploration, conquest and a strategic turn-based combat system which is itself a minigame. The progress of your party depends largely on exploration and the revelation fulfillment of quests, and the resources gathered by playing the various minigames to acquire a baseline of automated acquisition system of their generative resources, which is based…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Would give neutral if i could. 5 resources and minigames, plenty of upgrades on those but not really satisfying in feel. The story and character skits just feels too little, it feels completely half-assed. As for combat its not deep and not balanced. Puzzles were quite ok tho.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A few not very fun mini games, that fuel the idle waiting game, to power up the meh rpg game, to explore more.

positive · AI labelView post →This might be one of if not the best incremental game out there. If you enjoy the genre, you've got to give it a try. It's basically several incremental games (auto-battler, catching apples/space invaders, fishing, mining, survivors, puzzles + the ice minigame which I find hard to explain) combined into one in a way where their separate skill trees and systems compliment the main game itself in some way. It's made extremely well and while I didn't exactly enjoy playing some of the incremental…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't often write reviews but this little gem deserves it. 50ish hours in I've just completed the last mode and gotten the True Ending which did a lovely job of paying off the slow build up of intrigue as I completed the different modes. It all ties together beautifully though Evil mode lives up to its name. Brutally hard hard that one. Simply unkind, but in the best way. The mini games are generally fun, or at least inoffensive, and the momentum build as you get each one going and optimized…

neutral · AI labelView post →This incremental game have everything, combat, minigames, for example minigame to collect apples, and then, turned out into epic party bullet hell, like what... and surprisingly, the combat mechanic is pretty solid, team battle with actual roles.. and yeah auto-able which is decent if you're a lazy energy preserving person. tldr; if you like to play games inside game and watching number go up everywhere, then this game for you.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't mince words. It's a grindfest. Cauldron is about a young witch, thrown into a world covered in shadow. Her task: gain resources through endless minigames á la Roguelite and slowly upgrade yourself through the tasks. At the same time fight the enemies in the shadows to uncover parts of the map, raising your production multiplier in the process. This again leading to additional skill points by upgrading certain thresholds in the gathering minigames. It's a sort of give-and-take scenario.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to recommend this game as I did enjoy the gameplay somewhat. I would choose neutral if it was an option. But the game leaves a lot to be desired and relies on getting you with the old "number go up" dopamine hit instead of offering a meaningful or rewarding experience. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a VERY fun and cozy game. I love the way that games evolve over time. One of the most clever incremental games (if you can even classify it as that) around. Also there is a TON of replayability with additional modes that I'm only just now getting to... but then in those modes there's a ton of quality of life improvements that make them feel fun, and not like a slog. Really worth a purchase.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is just a vice..... you get hooked and get into it and into it... at least it was my experience..... the game buildup is pretty gun and the variety is quite fun. Albeit, if you want to go for max achievements in each minigame... some are more fun than others.... and some are more easily broken with the game completed bonus upgrades (ice being the most broken one and crystal minigame being the more excruciatingly boring to reach the decillion achievement) Overall it was a fun to…
