I can't see how people say that it's a masterpiece or best survival game they've ever played. In which universe? Apart from the good graphics and visually cool looking places - this game just doesn't deliver much FUN at all. There are like 6 maps that you go in and out several times during a playthrough. Chernobylite is a hesitant thumbs up for me. TL;DR it is a game with great production values, a solid plot (hard to follow at times and with a poor twist at the end), and a really well-developed universe to explore and live in, but that is marred by poor pacing and repetitive gameplay. At 30 bucks, if will be worth if you buy it, but you'll have to endure some repetitive stuff to see the credits roll. Buyer beware. …

Chernobylite surprised me because I honestly thought I was not going to like it. Based on its setting and presentation, I expected something much closer to STALKER, with a stronger focus on abandoned environments, anomalies, horror and a heavier atmosphere. Instead, the game takes that setting and combines exploration and survival with base building, resource management and companion management, creating something …

I genuinely think this game is great, but the finale really upset me. You can tell the developers poured their hearts and souls into this project. The visuals are outstanding, crisp with high-fidelity, and the locations are undeniably gorgeous and well-crafted. At first I was afraid this would be another survival crafting game taking place in Chernobyl. Thankfully, crafting is limited to few crafting stations, you can build new weapons, ammo, armor.... and also some beds and comfort items for companions. There is nicely made story that kept me going, wanting to see the mystery and conclusion. Also the areas are not too big, just big enough for some exploration and taking …

I tried.. I even tried a second time. But this game is just a plain, boring carcass. It feels more like a mobile game where flashy avatars tell you to go here and there and pick things up, desperately trying to pass as a first-person game. It looks nice, yes, but it’s a dead-ass boring looting simulator with ridiculous base management. The English voice acting is like listening to AI - totally staged and completely unimmersive. I can’t really judge the story, but the first few hours…

Game seems interesting, but it has an absolutely garbage save system. Its even worse than an old console checkpoint system because the game has options to manual save and has a quick save function. However, both just make a new save at the last auto checkpoint. So even after manually saving, when you load the manual save you will just be back at the last checkpoint and anything you did since then is just gone and you have to redo it anyway...

The main issue I have with this game is that there's no option to completely remove motion blur, or high-pitched noises (which happen a decent amount). Every time I played I got a massive headache, and was a bit nauseous. Not everyone gets nausea from literally everything like I do, but if this stuff causes problems for you, don't buy this game. I know most people aren't like me in the aspect but whatever. A big part of the reason I play games is for the NPC's, I enjoy getting attached to a…

This game has a HUGE BUG, and no fix until now. It`s so frustrating that your Analyzer and Portal Generator is missing every almost every time when you start a new mission or load a save/checkpoint. Without your Portal Generator , you cannot go back to your base. This is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ frustrating.... so yeah, until a fix is done , I will stand my choice with my answer "NO!"

Unique concept, slightly awkward execution. Don’t go in expecting Stalker. The premise of this game is Slavic Ocean’s 11; throw together a team of cookers to raid the Chernobyl power plant against a Russian PMC and save your waifu. Time-space wormhole plot devices and horror elements are sprinkled throughout. It’s an eclectic mix of NPC management, survival, FPS and base building, where you’ll be constantly combing the same levels on daily missions and story quests until you have the team,…

I loved playing this game. Dont go in expecting STALKER, this is not STALKER, this is entirely its own thing, please keep that in mind, do not compare them. Also, the DLC is 90% cosmetic items that are unnecessary, so only buy those if you reeeeally want to. That said, this game respects your time, is a smidgeon janky and just a little repetitive, but ultimately it keeps you wrapped up and interested right up until the very end with a good characters, story, gameplay, visuals, all of it. It's similar to Stalker in its setting and some themes but that's where the connection ends. Not saying that's a good or bad thing. There is a whole lot of "bad" with this game though. The same 7 (I think) maps are reused over and over for the missions. They aren't even that big. By mid-game, you'll have a weapon that has infinite ammo and can decimate any enemy with ease. I used stealth to conserve ammo and resources in the beginning but gave up once I figured out the infinite ammo…

I spent a lot of time debating about finishing this game because there came a certain point where I didnt care anymore. There is sooooo much diolauge like non stop talking from the characters that I mentally checked out. Yes cool world building, but don't narrate every little thing to me. Let me figure some stuff out with context clues. I literally didn't care about the characters in the end, I just wanted to finish the game. The game ran very well for me on ultra settings. No performance issues, and I only encountered one minor bug where the screen was black after loading into an area, but reloading the save fixed it. I personally recommend playing with Russian voice acting and subtitles of your choice. It fits the setting much better and improves the overall experience, but it’s up to you how you want to play.

Chernobylite — The Masterpiece After My Heart I loved this game's concept. It brought me back to the vibe of the old S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, while also feeling distinct enough to stand on its own. The difficulty struck a satisfying balance — fair, yet genuinely challenging. You launch the game, and it feels like you've accidentally stumbled into a meeting of anti-communist activists rather than the Exclusion Zone. You wanted to find out where the hero's fiancée disappeared to... but instead, you find out where diplomacy went. The political subtext pops up so suddenly that you start to be wary of the bushes, in case there's another ideological manifesto there. Enemies periodically recall the myth of Schrödinger's battle: they simultaneously see everything and…

It's not bad, you will have some fun playing it. It just isn't fleshed out. The Basebuilding is fun, until you're maxed out after 3 hours, after which there is no Point looting rescources. You'll know the locations by that time too. The Cooling Towers map is sooooo underutilised, it's cool, but you never have to go there, just the same old maps for all the missions. The Characters keep on talking, it has so much talking for so little story. The Moral thing is not fun, just annoying. And the…

While I think this is an interesting and unique little experience with some cool concepts, I don’t think it executes them particularly well. Personally, the whole thing felt a bit empty. At the start, I really started to like the game - it was like a weird version of Stalker, but different time and memory manipulation storyline. However, as game went on and on, missions became way too easy, to the point I needed 2-3 minutes per mission, which were the "hardest version" of those beforehand, where I spent 30+min for. Not to mention, the entire story revolves around you making mistakes, and if you don't make any, the game FORCEFULLY make you dead/captured/insane on order to…

First of all, one thing I really appreciate about this game is that you can get 100% of the achievements in a single playthrough without any pre-researching or looking up guides online. That's a big plus in my book. Now, about the game itself... At first, I thought Chernobylite would be nothing more than a substitute for the Metro series or Fallout. But I was wrong. This game might be a great simulator of wandering around the abandoned buildings, and the fact that gameplay is too repetitive and the characters are so cliche so it's just impossible to ephatize to them, does not really break the interest. But what is really spoil the pleasure is that the game is so poorly optimized that it crashes all the time on the same exact places (saving after VR mission 4, for example). This is not a Stalker game, just remember that. Chernobylite is filled with endless talking NPCs and the most repetitive missions you'll ever see. The story is so far fetched and while there were many points in the plot I liked, it just didn't pay off in the end of it all. Choices do matter but you can just change them later to your liking. Base building was fun until at the 5 hour mark, once you've done it all and built your perfect hideout. If the game was 8 hours long instead of 14, I…

I've played 8 .5 hours so far but I just don't know if I can slog through the rest of this game. It's just so, so, so dull. The opening is promising, but rapidly it degenerates into going into the same maps, fighting the same braindead pockets of enemies, running from point to point to receive some dialogue. Story is totally forgettable, so there's nothing driving this forward. Might be tolerable as a 4-hour game but at its actual length it's way too much of a grind to see through.

I wanted to like it ... but I couldn't. The maps are pretty linear. Sure, you can creep through some of the bushes but there's no sneak system so you'll get spotted easily if you are hiding in long grass, a bush or behind a tree. I'm not sure why but it was also making me feel sick. Every other game I have is fine on my 3440x1440 monitor but this, plus the Samsung-style over-saturated colour palette, just made me feel a little queezy after 10-20 minutes of gameplay. While it is fun to explore Chornobyl, this game lacks any drive for me to keep going other than the exploration. The story is meh at best, you don't get to fight that often and progression is fast. The hideout is a weird addition; making bullets and high-tech armour out of mushrooms and herbs is straight up bad since there is no reason to go to more dangerous areas to find higher-end resources. In general building stuff in the hideout isn't rewarding, most of the building are useless for the…

At your base, you can craft items from the materials you’ve gathered to upgrade your gear. Very well 3D modeled and textured. Excellent story and choice consequences. Easy to complete on the easiest settings. Easy to miss achievements, except you can change the choices you made - this is somewhat confusing if you have several to change to unlock all achievements. The survival aspects are very easy on the easiest settings. I like FPS and FPRPG, so I fired off several hundreds of shots - on harder settings you may want to sneak more/shoot less.

Pros: -Weapon upgrades are great and feel impactful to your playstyle (stealth, tank, explorer, etc) -Similarly, while armor isn't customizable for the situation, you can carry multiple armor sets to tackle situations differently -Unique skill upgrade system, where the game literally has you train with a companion for said skill. Some sequences are a bit janky, but overall it's a fresh look…

It's an OK game with an OK story, but it drags for soo long. Core gameplay of stealth extraction with horror elements and base upgrades is fun for about 5-10 hours until you get everything you want. But 8 maps and 4 enemies is not enough for a game this long. I did not finish it. The story was intriguing enough for me to watch the ending on youtube - it was bad. While the premise was interesting, the writing was not good - everyone talked too much about nothing. Constant Tatiana flashbacks are…

Chernobylite Complete Edition is dull and boring. The graphics are decent enough, but the gameplay is just not good. I like good post-apocalyptic games, this doesn't qualify as good imo.

..also able to open wormholes and travel through time in order to change the past and undo decisions you've made, which kinda helps with the whole "surviving" thing.. Building up your base, recruiting new comrades to your cause, and sending them out on expeditions to get more resources is all good. The combat, sadly, is somewhat poor: guns feel lightweight and ineffective, inaccurate. The scavenging is effortless, but can occasionally feel a cookie-cutter in its "scan the area, real fungus, go…

I'm surprised at how well the game presented itself in its first moments. It was practically designed with purpose, contrary to my idea that it was gonna be a STALKER clone. For the price I got it for during the sale, I'm kinda optimistic about the game (will probably add an edit to say my final thoughts about that later lmao), but if there's one immediate and glaring flaw I have to point out immediately, enemies are f*cking damage sponges. Holy crap, how many bullets can one skull take?!…

I wish I could give a "Middle Review". Pick this up if you're ok with jank and obvious budget constraints, but lots of heart and soul poured into a game. Also there's not many games out there that fit this genre of base management, fps, scavenger, narrative, and person management. It's very obviously low budget once you start playing it, but it's got a lot of heart and has some fun and interesting mechanics. My complaints just comes from the feeling of emptiness/lack of direction of feeling…

I wanted to like this game. The atmosphere and visuals are genuinely impressive, and the core gameplay loop of exploring the Zone has a lot of potential. You can tell the developers put effort into capturing that eerie, desolate feeling. However, the execution of the horror elements was a dealbreaker for me. The game relies far too heavily on cheap, jarring "jump scares." These aren't suspenseful or atmospheric; they are genuinely startling and unpleasant. It creates a stressful and…

not worth 30 bucks. it isnt a bad game, but its also not a good one. It's generic and basic. Bland. The loot system is mostly just everything in the same spots. Every time. Every map. Same things, same spots. Its unpolished, i guess is what im trying to say. Only 5 or 7 guns. attachments are cool but also bland. Oh, the recipes also make no sense. How do you use herbs and mushrooms to make mechanical parts? Not worth 30 bucks. Wait for it to go on sale, pay 15.

I wish I could give this game a mixed review. As a game, this is great. I enjoy playing it. I wish it was better optimized, ESPECIALLY the opening sequence. It runs kinda smoothly after that (although it is worth noting that I'm playing on the steam deck) game lets you play stealthy or guns out. Explore mission areas to find notes, resources, clues, npcs, and more. Go back to base, build it up, send your companions out to grab supplies. You make choices that may or may not amount to anything,…

The only downside to this game is the small number of maps, which can sometimes get boring running around the same locations, but otherwise the story and its forks are quite interesting.

Chernobylite isn't a perfect or even a great game, but I still had fun with it, and I'd say it's a very 6.5 to 7.5 out of 10 sort of game. This is a game with a lot of interesting systems in it, but does only does those systems decently enough, never wowing me entirely. Chernobylite follows Igor as he explores the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone in search of his lost love. The story is alright, having its twists, but it's nothing that really left an impression on me. The characters - mostly Igor and…

Chernobylite is incredibly boring, the gunplay is too janky to be any fun and the story sucks.
