What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 183 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (879 of 1,009 positive).
Players praise the unique time-manipulation mechanic and charming art style. [1][2][3] Some reviewers criticize clunky controls, bugs, and lackluster puzzles. [4][5][6]

The negative review is mostly for the abrupt ending, however the rest of it wasn't good either. Uninspired soundtrack, horrific and swallow story and blunt characters... The gameplay is not refined even after all the time the game has been released and did stumble upon a few glitches. The puzzles were tasteless and the time mechanic mediocre at best. Only positive the graphics that were at least decent... Overall it …

Chronology is a 2D Puzzle Platformer where you play as the Inventor who uses his watch to switch between 'Before' and 'After' states. By switching between these states, items and certain platforms can become available, and they make up much of the platforming and puzzle aspects of the game. You will eventually meet the Snail which can act as an additional platform from which you can use to jump from to reach certain …

Rating: 7.5/10 Chronology is a puzzle-platform adventure with a unique mechanic that lets you switch between past and future versions of the world to solve challenges. This time-manipulation idea makes the puzzles creative and satisfying to figure out. The game has a charming art style and a relaxing pace, making it accessible even for casual players. However, its short length and relatively simple difficulty may …

Chronology is a nice little puzzle platformer. Puzzles focus on time travel between two 'states' and stopping time entirely. You control two characters: the old inventor (you) and a snail that helps you on your way. It's a pretty small game. Can be finished in about two hours. Light puzzle elements, not too hard on the platforming either. Was ok.

Chronology (2014) As the name suggest this game involves something to do with time. You play as a gnome who needs to travel to the past and future to restore the present. You have a trusty snail partner to help you in your time quest. Beautiful graphics and an easy to play puzzle-platform adventure game. 8/10

Critics, per Wikipedia
Chronology received "mixed or average" reviews on the PC version whereas on the iOS version, it received "generally favorable" reviews, according to review aggregator Metacritic. Emiliano Baglioni for Eurogamer.it rated the game 6/10, stating that "The final judgment is therefore quite controversial. Despite not being too elaborate, Chronology is a nice platformer that captivates and engages with its puzzles without causing the experience to end in excessive frustration." Carter Dobson for Gamezebo rated the game 80/100, stating that "I had a good time with Chronology, and I'm going to bet you will too. It's brief, but makes great use of its ideas. Time travel is an underused gameplay…

The only thing that hurts this game in the long run imo is its sheer lack of enemy variety, because everything else about Radiant Historia is incredible. Especially so when you have a protagonist as fantastic as Stocke!

Gameplay / Story Brief memory loss is generally a popular narrative medium and the nameless protagonist of Chronology suffers from it at the beginning. Fortunately, memories quickly return and the little gnome realizes that civilization was almost entirely wiped out by one of his inventions, which was abused by his old mentor. But since, as a researcher of the world, he has a time…

I may have finally started Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology.🙂 Doing Append Mode, since the game recommended it and I never finished the original!💜

positive · AI labelView post →No idea if it's any good or not because it doesn't launch.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a neat little puzzle game but unfortunately controls were a bit janky, puzzles were not that fun. Maybe if the game was under $1 I'd say if you have nothing to do try it, but, really meh, it's a skip for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Chronology misses the mark by a mile. While the developers clearly tried to make a fun and simple puzzle platformer, the game is sadly just not that fun to play. The story is unfulfilling, the controls are clunky, the time travel gimmick is not really used to its full potential, stopping time (the snail ability) is only used very rarely and can mostly be ignored and the puzzles range from really easy to nonsensical. Some of the puzzles feel only solvable if you do something that seems to be…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This *could be* a really nice game. But there are two things bothering me: First of all, the game is really buggy. By accident I managed to get myself into several situations that I found no way out again other than to close the game and start again from the beginning of the chapter. And again. And again. - Once, I tried to do a jump from snail's back that resulted in endless spawning and immediately dying because of falling down which made the whole game window flicker like it was on drugs.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →We'll never see it, but I think one of the interesting threads in Game of Thrones was what I believed was a suggestion that there was a Fomenko-ist New Chronology going on in their universe. Which leads me to ask: is there any good fantasy/sci-fi that does this and does it well?

positive · AI labelView post →Chronology is a 2d platformer with simple time manipulation. You're as an old inventor with your friend Snail, travel among ruins of civilization after (and before) the technological disaster. I'd wish to call this game a good and short journey for children, for example. But because of puzzles which have no logic, I'll not to do it. Awful riddles as if came from point and click from 2000s. I'll describe one moment: you have to buy the ticket to the elevator, but the cashier speaks on the…

neutral · AI labelView post →Trying to master time feels like a clock without a minute hand - all confusing and funny. My attempts to control time are like a cat playing with a ball of yarn - chaotic but adorable!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't recommend this game. Its not that its bad, its just not worth your time. The game tries to do too much, giving you access to two characters, two different time mechanics and multiple ways of movement. Despite this, most puzzles rarely require more than extensive use of maybe one of them, meaning you feel underwhelmed by the solution. Other times, there's an obtuse answer where a random background element must be interacted with and you had no idea you even could and doesn't use any of…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's cute Get it for a dollar or two, as it's quite short.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Chronology boasts some pretty, if somewhat childish, visuals, but fails to differentiate itself from other time-manipulation platformers that came before
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You play as an Old Man and a Snail, solving platforming puzzles. The Old Man can jump, and shift between the present and the future, as well as summon the Snail to his location. The Snail can climb on surfaces and freeze time. The variety and creativity of the puzzles you need to get through is all very impressive, and it's fun solving them. I was wary of this game because of how many mediocre review scores it seems to have, but it's a solid game. Super short, but it goes on sale for 90% off…

When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An interesting and short puzzle platformer game that keeps you entertained well for the price. However, you might want to wait for a sale since I believe the asking price is a bit too high. (Received my copy out of a bundle and completed the game in about 1.5h).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simple platformer with interesting visual style where you can alter the time back and forth changing this way the environment. Puzzles are pretty straight forward and easy to understand. Nice sounds and not too long so can be beaten on one run. Game is similar to Braid.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Though most of the games i tried from this company has many flaws, may it be the mobile version or the pc port version... this one here is a nice game with everything done right except the key mapping... (keyboard player beware, this is tuned for right handed players only on the keyboard and you can't change it, best play it on controller if you are a left handed player) The story telling is nice, the music matches the game's atmosphere and the puzzle though not hard are fun to solve. Wish all…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Frankly, I expected more from this game, having previously read the very positive steam reviews. I liked the concept of solving puzzles by time traveling, which changes the environment around you. But, I didn't find the game quite fun. It gets kinda boring quickly, and when you lose concentration, you get frustrated by a few puzzles which are far fetched. They can be solved only in 1 specific way. I presume it helps to play this game not at once, but bit by bit, over a few days. I liked the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Chronology is a family friendly 2D puzzle platformer game with a cartoony art style. The game uses two reasonably well known platformer gimmicks, character swapping (each character has different abilities) and phasing (you switch between two different time periods which affects how the platforms and puzzle components are worked out). First up the artwork and storytelling here is charming and of good quality. Unfortunately the game design and implementation doesn't keep up. Controls are…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If I were playing a History game (e.g. Chronology) I would have placed this much later in the 1800s. Thank you for the education.
positive · AI labelView post →While a rather short game (a little over 2 hours for me), it is an enjoyable platform/puzzle game. I was only stuck once and had to use a walkthrough but most of the puzzles are straight forward. The platforming can be a bit of a struggle in a few places but not rage inducing. The story is cute. The main character is voiced well just wish the snail had a better voice (too child like but I guess that is what they were going for). The music matches the game. The graphics have a nice warm feel and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Chronology is a thoughtful and endearing puzzle-platformer developed and published by Bedtime Digital Games, blending inventive mechanics with a heartfelt narrative about time, consequence, and companionship. Joined by an intelligent, talking snail, the inventor embarks on a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A cute short puzzle platformer game that was a nice break from some of the more intense games I play and/or stream. I appreciate the voice acting in it. The art work was pleasant and aestheically pleasing, not too distracting or overbearing. The puzzles weren't particularly difficult at all. Made for a relaxing 2 hours.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Looking for a puzzle adventure game? You found it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I didn't quite finish the game, but I was almost through. The game feels sloppy and feels slow even in the main menu. Animations take way too long. The puzzles themselves range from too easy to moderate. The story is about 3 hours long and didn't keep me interested at all. Luckily, you get the game for free quite often.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice puzzle platformer game. A very short game with a short story to match. It reminds of old tales and fables children read. Great game to introduce to someone young who is still learning how to play video games and helps teaches children to think through problems through experimentation.
