What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 171 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (512 of 578 positive).
Players enjoy the game as a fun digital adaptation of the classic board game. [1][2][3] Some reviewers criticize the AI for being too easy or behaving oddly. [4][5][6] Several players complain about expensive DLC and limited base content. [7][8][9]

I am surprised that there's not more people talking about the fact that the base game only comes with one location (the main house that we all know from the board game). Then you have to buy DLC for every single other location. When you try to play online multiplayer, there's not a lot of people playing on the base game level. Posting this review to give others a heads up, because if I had known this beforehand, I …

I'm A retired lady waiting for hip surgery, bored af. Shadows of Doubt had been my sweet spot, and it is still my favorite but OH MY LORD THIS GAME HERE IS FUN!!!!! So many varieties of the game, so many storylines and costumes!! Thanks so much, I LOVE THIS GAME

Good variation of the classic board game, amazing background music, interesting variations, haven't come across any bugs at all so far. Only gripe is that accusations can be made from anywhere, instead of needing to go to the middle room. Overall though, good game!

It's definitely an improvement on classic. I have some problems with it though. I wish I had a sixth column to mark my own cards in. It helps me figure out what the other players know about my hand. I still find the marking system lacking. Not enough markings for me. If I was playing the board game I would also be making notes of who showed whose card. I did this with letters. I have a little more freedom disabling …

neutral · AI labelView post →Online in Clue is fake and "players" are bots even in rating mode I tested this game in detail, and it’s clear that the “online” mode in Clue / Cluedo: The Classic Mystery Game is completely fake. Here’s exactly what happens: I can just sit and do nothing — after some time, a 10 second timer appears saying that the game will replace me with AI. I wait, and the banner appears saying “You have been replaced by AI”, but the game doesn’t kick me out. Then I just move my mouse or press any key,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played a match against the AI and watched Colonel Mustard confidently accuse himself of committing the murder in the Kitchen with the Candlestick, all while he was standing in the Conservatory. So, the bots are basically just your one chaotic relative at family game night.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am happy to say I purchased this game during the summer sale as I do not feel that it's worth full price. You only get the basic board game, a couple rule options, and ability to play with anyone who has also purchased the game. There is no option to customize rules to enhance game play, lots of extras advertised but the reality is that it's a cash grab. I have seen better value from a mobile game. $5 is honestly the top amount this game is worth, and I do enjoy playing with friends online…

neutral · AI labelView post →i'm not entirely sure why this had so many great reviews. it really wasn't any better than its "cousin". it's made by the same companies even. the graphics were okay. the text was miniscule (if you have a larger monitor, it's eye-stain-o-vision to the nth.) and the gameplay was nonexistent. it goes so fast that you blink and you miss it. i will say that being able to stay in the same room indefinitely was interesting. not Better, just interesting. i don't know if it would have better if it had…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you really like Clue and you can get this for $5 on sale, sure, do it. But you're essentially buying a demo: you have access to one map and one skin for each character. Most of the achievements are locked behind DLC which, at full price, will set you back roughly the cost of one AAA game. This is undoubtedly not worth the price of a triple-A game. Lol. I could play it from Amazon Prime Luna for free, sure, but... Steam games number go up.

neutral · AI labelView post →Please remove the ad that shows when you start up the game. You can have a small header or banner on the main screen, but having a pop up that you can't disable at start up is too much. I like the game, but sadly there is only 1 level in the base game. So definitely only buy during a sale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's now a bug in this game when played in solo mode, altimate version. When your character is asked a key question, the game doesn't tell you which card that you've been asked about. It only tells you that you don't have it.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hated this at first. The DLC's being shoved in my face is unappealing. However; I love the board game, and this scratched that itch. Get it on sale. -------------- I take it back. Once you complete all tasks in the Tudor mansion you must purchase DLC's to move on.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, a great little detective game. There aren't a ton of open multiplayer games, but there seems to be JUST enough players that everytime I've made a lobby or was looking for one, I could find at least one, maybe two that matched my criteria. If you can't find a MP game, the AI players are well created so they don't ask stupid questions or things that don't make sense (like asking you the same question twice). Overall, I wouldn't pay a ton for this game. I think I got it on sale for…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Clue/Cluedo, has been the arbiter of domestic suspicion since 1949. The board game where everyone suddenly suspects Colonel Mustard of crimes most foul has now sashayed into the digital age with its 2023 video game incarnation. This update attempts to dust off the candlestick and bring murder mystery to a screen near you. Clue/Cluedo’s latest digital escapade steps out of the drawing room and into your screen with all the subtlety of a candlestick to the head. This game, a masterclass in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish I knew more people that liked Clue/Cluedo and the Game of Life. Those are two of my favorite board games. I wanna play the Steam versions with more people. 🥺
positive · AI labelView post →I want an OFMD board game so badly. There’s a game similar to Clue/Cluedo from my childhood called 13 Dead End Drive that involves all sorts of murdery situations in a mansion (including a falling chandelier). A remake of it on the Revenge would be epic! boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/18...

neutral · AI labelView post →It works but I have to thumbs it down simply because locking achievements behind DLC is cruel and I hate it. Otherwise its a perfectly acceptable Clue video game

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has some nice graphics and trophies. Overall, it's just a refresh of the older Cluedo computer game. I was hoping for something more immersive, and thought that's what I was getting based on the game ad. It's not bad, but I've already purchased the complete options in the older Cluedo game. Nothing here to make me want to spend more money on other case files, etc.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!! Luckily I got the game on a discount, I would have been furious if I paid full price for this hot garbage! The game is way too bugged to even run properly, and if I ignore the picture not existing in most of the game, and my screen being stuck on one view of nothing, not knowing a thing my opponents are doing, and just stare at nothing until my turn and eventually reach the end, I then get stuck on a screen at the end 100% of the time where i have to close the game…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dear mainstream media: Among Us isn't an assassination simulator, it's a social deduction game. It's like Clue/Cluedo in space, with chores. And it's not the reason someone shot a ceo in charge of a company that caused suffering and death.

neutral · AI labelView post →I was going to joke that the C stands for "Clue," and that pressing it immediately starts a session of the classic board game Clue/Cluedo...but honestly, putting a dedicated hint button on a controller and calling it a Clue or "C" button is a very Nintendo thing to do. Super Guide, evolved.
neutral · AI labelView post →I enjoy playing this game, especially while working on my schoolwork. the down time allows me to do a problem or two and then come back to the game. Plus I really like the music as background noise. It is a pretty game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Clue was my favorite board game growing up and probably still is. I played Marmalade Studios first rendition of this game and found it fun. This one is pretty enjoyable too with the various different settings, weapons, and suspects made out to fit into the settings. There is one issue I have noticed though and it involves the CPU controlled opponent AI. In one game (I was playing as Mustard on the Polar Station Level) the AI controlling Green went into the Submarine Dock and ended up making…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →played one game and was infuriated with the UI and overall feel of the game. after going back to the original, it is night and day. I would recomend the original to anyone and tell them to avoid this brand new verson. Sherlock out.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its clue with same rules and 2 mods the online work great with cross platform mobile and PS / XBOX
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game itself is okay und stays true to the original board game. However, it could have been more immersive, perhaps by allowing third person control of the figures. What really bothers me, though, is that you can't unlock all the achievments unless you buy every DLC.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its better than it was at launch and WAY better than the OG or Classic older version. The AI is smarter. If you are going to buy any version, buy this one. :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun to play online, but dont waste your time with the AI games. The AI is too easy and doesnt make it challenging. Easy to pass all levels and finish all achievements.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So I have a three day weekend coming up and I want to play a game with friends on my Discord server, but I really want to play Clue/Cluedo and I don't have many friends who own it on Steam. You may not, however, enter the same square twice on the same turn" The steam version allows a player to enter the same square twice in the same turn. This makes it possible…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is fun and a great way to play Cluedo digitally. The DLCs are a robbery, though. They’re way too expensive for what they offer.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'd never played the physical game, but I am hooked on the online version. The game makes it easy to learn the rules and online play works great.
