Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 363 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (13,747 of 15,051 positive).
Some reviewers note technical issues like memory leaks and performance drops. [1][2] A few players find the combat system repetitive and the open world outdated. [3][4]

Control Resonant feels like a game that doesn't know what it wants to be, and isn't willing or able to commit to the ideas it has. Aesthetically everything is gorgeous, especially in some of the more mindbending areas where geometry is folding over itself, for sheer spectacle it's a hard game to beat. From a gameplay perspective, the design of the open world and combat would have been been considered outdated when …

I will be doing a full review after I finish the game, for now I just wanted to talk about the game's technical performance. TLDR; it is fluid as butter with Ray Tracing to Ultra. I forgot the last time a game ran this well! No stutters, looks amazing, absolutely flat frame-time. This is how a release should be!

in the 18 hours I've played so far, time has flown by me, other games would have me dragging myself just to finish them at this point, but this game is so engaging, so fun, I can't even tell if I'm in the end game; I just can't wait to keep going. This is more than I could have ever dreamed from a sequel to Control; the story is amazing, so many questions answered, yet so many more have emerged. I love. Every. …

Combat is fluid and snappy. Runs and looks good on a 3060 TI. Enemies are not spongy at all! Either the reviewers didn't know how to take advantage of all the mechanics, or they really buffed Dylans damage before launch. Either way, combat is really fast!

Have you ever had a dream where you’ve defied gravity? Yeah, that’s what Resonant feels like in a weird way. I’m only 6 hours in, but so far, the game is very good. It’s highly optimized, has great combat, and looks absolutely amazing. The combat feels incredibly responsive and fluid, and it makes me feel like a superhero. The movement, attacks, and overall flow of combat feel really satisfying. It’s refreshing to …

90% of the 363 Steam reviewers we collected recommend CONTROL Resonant. The complaint that keeps coming up: memory leak causes performance drops after an hour. Deal-breaker or nitpick?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Control Resonant received "generally favorable" reviews, according to review aggregator website Metacritic, with OpenCritic reporting that 86% of critics recommended the game. IGN gave the game an 8 out of 10, complimenting its combat system and design while noting that the late game can be tedious. IGN also wrote that the role-playing game mechanics offer some flexibility but are lacking in depth. The New York Times published a review which praised the game's portrayal of Manhattan and its potential for exploration, and also that there is a disconnect between the gameplay and storytelling: story and character development are bound to "cut scenes and flashbacks with stiff, unnatural…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I normally wouldn't write a review this early and will likely update it later but something you need to know before buying: DO NOT BUY THE DELUXE VERSION IF YOU WANT THE OST OUTSIDE OF THE GAME. It follows that closed box model from consoles where the soundtrack is only playable from the main menu, full power GPU/CPU burning be damned. Useless for most people who actually care about soundtracks on PC games. I bought it to load onto my music server, mobile devices etc. and play high quality…

Feels like Control got beefed up with some steroids. There are some minor performance issues that need to be patched out. But all in all very good experience!

neutral · AI labelView post →GOAT. That’s honestly all I want to say about this game. Remedy has absolutely nailed it. This game is the definition of PERFECTION. I was expecting something unique, something mind-bending, especially knowing how Remedy makes its games. And considering this is the sequel to Control, I already knew I was in for something interesting. But man... I was completely blown away. The game exceeded my expectations in ways I honestly wasn't prepared for. After 30+ hours, I’m still deep inside…

positive · AI labelView post →I have thoroughly enjoyed Control Resonant so far and want to continue playing more. So why the negative review then? Because the game currently has a memory leak issue which causes my performance to just drop 30/40 frames after an hour to 2 hours of gameplay. Basically my GPU starts drawing about 100 watts of less power ( from 420W all the way down to 320W) and that results in the aforementioned performance loss. Restarting the game fixes it for a while before the problem starts looping…

positive · AI labelView post →I love Remedy games so much. I absolutely dig the world they have created and can't get enough of them tying in Alan Wake. Gives me vibes of a Prototype and DMC5 mix. The new melee combat system is fresh and mega fun. Not too easy and not too difficult. Exploration around a warped Manhattan is so great. I never minded the 1st games indoor FBC but having a bit of open world is actually really nice. Surprised how incredibly detailed the city is for how large an area you are in. Time has been…

neutral · AI labelView post →GOTY. Game of the Year. The game is truly a video game yknow? Remedy took it up a notch and crafted a masterpiece of an experience. The level design is trippy and engaging, the world and art direction is absolutely gorgeous and a spectacle to look at. The soundtrack, ambience and most especially Zoe's mixtape and story timing that it does play is insanely well done. For the combat I thought it was easy at first but oh boy with more abilities it truly feels like I was moving fluidly weaving…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An Amazing Game Held Back By A Boring Combat System I love so much about this game. The visuals, the music, Dylan's characterisation so far, the M. C. Escher/Inception style design of the city being flipped, changed and twisted, the lore and the general feel of the controls, which I find to be fluid and smooth. I just cannot be bothered to sit through what feels like a stock standard open world and a really boring combat system. I feel like there isn't much to offer and I'm not sure a couple…

I actually ended up buying a new rig after 18 years just because I wanted to play this properly. And man, it did not disappoint. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finished Control Resonant and even though the game does a lot of things I don’t necessarily prefer I do respect that they’re kinda new choices. Like even when it comes to the combat I’m glad they’re doing new things.
neutral · AI labelView post →I just completed CONTROL Resonant, and while I appreciate what Remedy tried to do here, the combat is easily my biggest issue. The melee combat lacks weight and gets repetitive very quickly. The camera sits too far back, targeting feels unreliable, and the constant red effects make enemy attacks difficult to read. This becomes especially frustrating when smaller enemies are firing ranged attacks while you’re trying to dodge enemies up close. By around five hours, I was already getting tired of…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Control Resonant is important because it's a game with a male protagonist who is not a emotionless stoic hypercompetent adonis who slides blandly into heroism, but is instead a sad loser who's kind of out of shape and really doesn't want to be here, but won't turn away from people who need help.

The game has its own "handheld" preset, not bad :) but the resolution is limited to 400p due to FSR performance, so it doesn't look bad so far. However, in the "open" world, I'm getting lower FPS, around 20-35 :/ It's still playable, though, I think :D It's no worse than Crimson Desert on the Steam Deck :D Hats off :) The Steam Machine test will follow as soon as I've…

neutral · AI labelView post →I really liked Control 1, but I'm really struggling to find anything to like in this. I finding the combat mindlessly hitting one button over and over, the characters grating, and the art style generic. Also, ive had several crashes and performance in general is fairly poor. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Remedy Entertainment has once again amazed me with their latest release, following my experience with their previous title, Alan Wake 2, on PS5. The game features the complex, signature narrative style found in the Alan Wake and Control series. While newcomers might find it challenging to grasp the established world and lore, the game mitigates this with recaps of the prequel's story and encourages players to read the "Notes" scattered throughout the game world. Particularly appreciate the…

positive · AI labelView post →What can I even say about this game? Another masterpiece from Remedy. The atmosphere, music, gameplay, story — everything has been executed beautifully. The further I get into the game, the more engaging it becomes. The only thing that genuinely makes me sad is that eventually, it has to end.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Might be GOATed for me. It's a bit uneven (the beginning is a little slow), but the game picks up a few hours in and closes out incredibly. The combat is the weakest part of this game, but it's not bad, just mid. It becomes more tolerable as the game goes on. Once you get a bit stronger and get more tools, the combat becomes less tedious and more fun. The art direction is great. Open world Manhattan is a bit whatever, but when the game gets weird, it's peak weird. The sound design is…

positive · AI labelView post →I will start by saying that Control is one of my favorite games of all time. It is the only game in 45 years of gaming that, upon completing it, I immediately started a new playthrough. Control Resonant does not have the same magic. I have played 5 hours, trying desperately to connect with the game, but it is just a slog for me. Dylan's personality is a bowl of mush. I have no desire to connect with him or play as him.
