Players widely note that Cook Serve Forever is a story-driven, relaxing spin-off, not a direct sequel to Cook, Serve, Delicious! [1][2][3] Many reviewers appreciate the game's charming narrative, art, and voice acting, but some find the gameplay too simple. [4][2][5] Several players report that the game improved significantly during early access, with a satisfying ending. [6][7][8]

I am a long time fan of Cook Serve Delicious ever since the original which I thought was possibly the greatest innovation within the cooking game genre. I cannot find it within myself, no matter how hard I try to like Cook Serve Forever, to recommend this game. The original required a combination of reading comprehension, typing dexterity and good time management. Managing multiple tickets at once (especially with …

A while ago, I purchased Cook Serve Delicious 3, and BOY did I enjoy it. But also... It stressed me OUT. I loved serving the people and I loved the cooking progress. I loved the graphics and all of it, but I could only play it for short whiles because then I'd get too stressed.. (Yep, weird :P) I saw this one, and actually, the negative reviews are what convinced me to buy it... It's simple, too simple for most …

fun game, nice art, nice voice acting. most of the negative reviews are from "hardcore" csd fans being dissapointed that this game that shares a name with csd is not the same as it. cook serve forever is not a sequel of csd and the gameplay is different. i have a combined ~150hrs in all of csd and still enjoyed the game even though its not as hard as them. if you want a difficult fast paced game. this isn't for you

I honestly don't understand the hate this game is getting. This is coming from someone who have had the pleasure of being part of the CSD community from the very first game when it was first launched. CSF is definitely using a different formula from its predecessors. This game is meant to be relaxing, hence no complicated keyboard combinations to complete a dish. No station feature as well, just one dish at a time. …

Cook Serve Forever is more of a spin-off rather than a sequel to the famous Cook, Serve, Delicious! games developed by the same studio. It preserves the theme and the core mechanics from the previous games, but it takes the gameplay into a slightly different direction with the addition of a solid narrative approach and a brand new visual scheme, while also transitioning towards a rhythm-based game. I’ve been living my childhood dream of being a voice actor for years now, but it still feels like the beginning at times. Every victory excites and sparks something in me 💛

neutral · AI labelView post →If you're looking for more Cook Serve Delicious, this is not it. You don't run a restaurant, you don't pick the menu, you don't get to prioritize orders to serve. It's just QuickTime events with an obnoxious story tacked onto it. There is a fair amount of 'the message' in here and it will lecture you on what's probably every political opinion these devs have. Including lacing peoples food with drugs being a good thing, I actually can't tell if it's supposed to be satire or not. Ironically for a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I do enjoy seeing more of the absurdity of the CSD franchise, the complete regression of this game is inexcusable. I came off of finally completing CSD3, prepared to play a game which I thought would be CSD3 but with more recipes. I would have enjoyed that! But this is comparatively soulless. No ability to choose your recipes, no resource management, and I couldn't tell you anything that goes on an Elephant Ear in this game, because the directional key approach this game takes makes it so…

neutral · AI labelView post →as it own separate game, it just not that interesting. maybe if it had animations of the food actually being cooked but just doing button combinations seeing the food come together is so meh. the dpad controls annoy me so much, at least on my rog ally; I be pressing down and nothing else and it still be yelling at me, very frustrating. the story line is also boring
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I will likely still attempt to continue playing it, but honestly falls below the mark of a CSD game. - The gameplay requires you to play keyboard piano with two hands performing different key combinations at the same time. - in CSD3 you could customise your truck, in CSD2 you could customise your restaurant, here you are effectively getting an over-priced visual novel with some buttons to hit, nothing else. No customisation whatsoever. - both CSD3 and 1 allowed you to control your…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this back when it came out. I still can't like it. Edit* I'm giving it one last try with a fresh install, because if there was ever a tutorial that explained this crazy key configuration, I missed it. *Nope, I didn't miss anything. They straight-up changed the mechanics of the game and gave you no instruction whatsoever. After all this time, I finally figured it out, but I don't care anymore. #1 Complaint: Why waste time improving food animations when you've created a cook-system…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Welcome to CS:VN - Cook Serve Visual Novel. Enjoy cute art with mostly lacking gameplay mechanics. Now, I'm playing this game after its 1.0 release, and I don't judge it by previous CSD games I've played. In comparison with those the disappointment would be even bigger. People reading my reviews know, that above all I value addicting gameplay mechanics that are satisfying to execute. Unfortunately, in CSF those are almost non-existent. I'm totally missing sense of progress in this game. No…

neutral · AI labelView post →I want to start off by saying I absolutely adored Cook Serve Delicious 1-3, and have played almost 100 hours across all the original games. I've come from a childhood of loving cooking sims including Diner Dash, Youda Sushi Chef, Order Up! and more recently Overcooked. I think most recently that CSD has done cooking sims best with CSD 2 being my absolute favourite of the franchise. I was excited when a friend of mine gifted me Cook Serve Forever for Christmas as I had no idea a 4th game in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow, just wow.... When i played this game way way early in development i was disappointed, the gameplay was very repetitive and got old pretty quick, it's safe to say i wasn't alone in feeling that either! But oh my god did the team pull through, the turn-around this game had was amazing. It's genuinely a blast to play through and it hardly felt repetitive to me at all. But this isnt a game you play just for the gameplay, oh no no no no, you play this game for it's story too and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Respect to the team for taking risks. This is a big leap from the rest of the series - there's more focus on simplicity and polish, and less on hours and hours of replayability. I found the new gameplay great fun, the story charming, and the music great. I don't want games to take 1000 hours and be my new hobby these days, so this complete 10-hour experience was great, for me.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As someone who played the previous Cook, Serve, Delicious! titles, I would only recommend this game for someone who has not played or watched any of the previous 3 games. That is probably how you would get some joy from this otherwise un-related game. I will preface by saying I did jump around in the other three, but played enough to get the feel and mechanics down for them. (That being said, I only purchased this one on a big sale and because I was purchasing the other games, so I did not look…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is years in the making! COOK SERVE FOREVER is out today! So proud to be a part of this incredible cast! This is seriously the coziest, most heartfelt cooking sim you’ll ever experience… 🍔🍱💕💜
neutral · AI labelView post →They cut back on gameplay to focus on the story, but unfortunately, neither are good. The gameplay Previous CSD games constantly forced you to make split-second decisions about which orders to prioritize based on recipe complexity and customer patience. In CSF, you only ever handle one order at a time, so that entire layer of time management is gone. The game simply presents a sequence of prompts and asks you to press the corresponding button. See a button on the screen? Press that button.…

neutral · AI labelView post →This game is a huge departure from CSD 1-3. I have a combined 100+ hours on those games, and if you love them, I think you'll be disappointed with this. The core game mechanics have completely changed. It no longer matters what recipe you are following, what food you are serving, or what is on the menu, as you simply press arrow keys in a combination displayed on screen for each order. Nothing to memorise and no typing sadly means the soul of this game is missing. Don't get me wrong - the new…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The gameplay is such a downgrade from previous Cook Serve titles. Not at all what I expected and was disappointed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am a fan of CSD series. I bought this game on sale and also because I heard that they'd made a full update on gameplay and story. I've completed 100% of it but unfortunately I would not recommend the game. - The main reason is that the game is too short for a high price. Only 8 hours of playing time with all the cooking school levels finished and it's short in comparison to their previous games. - The gameplay is changed to be much simpler. It's not focused on ingredients but the cooking…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Edit: now that all of the content is out, I can confidently recommend it! They really stuck the landing with the ending, it is truly inspired, it's so sweet. Again, TLDR; this is a narrative game, not a Cook, Serve, Delicious! game. You can skip the cutscenes, but if you do there's not too much here for you, the writing's the best part. I can certainly recommend it at the current price point, but I would still wait for a sale — not necessarily because it's not worth full price (there is a lot…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've always been a fan of the Cook Serve Delicious games and stepping in to this one knowing it was a different experience had me a bit concerned. I first played this game very early in its development and the gameplay did not click with me and felt frustrating. Fast forward to now the game is fully out and I have revisited it and I must say I am extremely impressed with all the changes that have went in to the experience. The gameplay feels rewarding and requires a lot of coordination with…

neutral · AI labelView post →It is a shame. While earlier in EA, the gameplay had some issues, the latest update has just turned it into a dull, soulless slog. There is nothing fun about the braindead button combinations over and over to unlock...stickers. This game should have a different name. It has nothing in common with the series other than food.. Very disappointed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hate the new system introduced in the January 2025 update. Replacing the rhythmic progression with asymmetrical multitasking input lists that have a tedious amount of steps just takes me so far out of the flow state that I don't even notice the music anymore. This game was all about the vibes and now I get zero vibes while playing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're a fan of the Cook, Serve, Delicious! franchise, this game is likely not for you. Gone is the rewarding system of failing repeatedly, only to eventually conquer your cooking challenges and nail those combos after overcoming plenty of defeat. Instead, this game plays more like a DDR-style rhythm game and comparing it to Cooking Mama feels unfair. You click buttons on the screen while ingredients drop out of nowhere to assemble your dish, which feels oddly unsatisfying this time around.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As everyone here says, it is not the Dark Souls of Time Management game, it's not Cook Serve Delicious. Hence the name change. I like the new minigame, much more accessible even for kids. The characters are cute, there's a storyline, and i LOVE the music as always! Whenever I want the good old challenge, i just go back to the previous games, not like they are not accessible anymore. There are not too much content for now, it's Early Access. After the 2025.01 update it's much harder, so now…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →*Jan 2025 edit: Yup this negative review stays. The mc is running a restaurant yet it doesn't feel like it - I loved the time management element in the CSD1-3, yet here customers line up one by one and don't place order until you are done with the last one. No such miracle happens in a restaurant and CSD's maniac charm is hence lost. Second... I suck at typing games. Sounds like a joke, really, but I aced through CSD 1-3 with mouse features and a bit of practice. I wish *some* kind of toggle…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not my favorite. Really liked the other 3 in the series but this one is too heavily focused on the story aspects to grab me. Dev outright stated that this game was going to be unlike others in the series, but it stepped too far away to even feel like the same series to me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was such a fan of the whole preceding franchise, and this was a huge disappointment. Cooking DDR is right - you're not even aware of the recipe you're making and there's no variety to the recipes. Graphics are nice, I guess. Maybe they were going for the "interactive story with some repetitive gameplay elements" angle, but the plot is extremely boring.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are a CSD freak who got hooked on this series by smashing your keyboard to quick-prep lasagna layers and you are coming here for that adrenaline rush...then actually, Cook Serve Forever is probably *not* going to be your favorite game. This is a heartfelt, story-driven game, with less multitasking and time pressure than the prior three games in the series. However, I found that CSF has its own charms. The story is genuinely endearing, with good characters, funny moments, and competent…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh, no. No no no. This is tragic. I know it's early access, but look, the core gameplay is boring and unrewarding. It just feels empty. It's like they exchanged all the fun gameplay mechanics from previous games to focus on a narrative. Which I guess could work for some but then, well... the narrative, story, characters all of this it's not looking too great... Why do I have so many hours then? It's because I'm not mentally well and decided to get a 100% And there will be more achievements…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I dunno, it's not for me. It's far too different to the rest of its franchise, which for some may be a plus, but I just found it a little boring. And that's a shame because the story does seem rather intriguing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game itself is alright. Instead of the normal gameplay loop the idea of this one is using your right hand and left hand at the same time. That is fine, and is fun. I'm tired of the woke stuff though. GIve me a fun cooking game without dialoge that is just annoying.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Having finished all the content in version 0.95 (the final content update), I feel very positive on the game overall. The story, while nothing groundbreaking, is a nice change of pace from the other games in the series. In terms of gameplay, I liked the fast-paced simplicity of the actions and I felt that completing all the blitz levels with gold ranks was a good challenge. However, I think some of the recipes, especially ice cream, do not give the player enough time on the default difficulty…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely not worth the price. I refunded it after 30 mins
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed this game in early access and was excited to come back for the full release, but apparently the devs completely overhauled the gameplay between now and then in a way that completely kills the fun. It's not the fast-paced CSD game you're used to, but it's also no longer a more cozy rhythm based game either.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved the Cook Serve series, and play the third one often (though I'll admit it's on Epic, not here). That's why I hate this game. It's not *like* the other CSD games, and I guess if you haven't played any of them, you probably might like it. I couldn't be bothered to care about the story, that's not the kind of game I expected to get with this title. PS: If you think that you'll ever stop seeing ads for CSF on CSD 3, you won't. It actually reminded me to write a bare minimum review,…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got all achievements on Cook Serve Forever ! I sadly can't do more and 100% it because my keyboard is having issues with a rollover that is limiting my inputs (can't cook two things at the same time) But hey, it's possible to get all achievements at least even with that ! @chubigans.bsky.social
positive · AI labelView post →Sadly more like a Cooking Mama game than a CSD (Cook, Serve, Delicious) game. The adrenaline hit and urgency to get everything correct is now spoon fed and at a much calmer - almost lazy - pace. In the CSD games you get multiple orders at once, have to remember the orders correctly and serve them at the right temperature, with the right toppings and ingredients etc. This is more like Cooking Mama however where you just focus on one dish at a time, press buttons to swirl ingredients, add…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I can tell a lot of love has been poured into this game, I can't recommend it when branded as a CSD title. It departs too heavily from the prior games. That said, the music is phenomenal, the graphics are well executed and the recipes + animations are tight.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(This game is still a work in progress, so I look forward to being able to update this review. This review is based on the game in its current form as of 5/2024.) This game is...meh. I'm genuinely enjoying the dialogue and the story is cute. I wish there was more of it to keep me going between levels. Many other reviews are comparing this game to previous CSD games in the series and that is unfair. Just because a game has a similar style and premise doesn't mean you can always compare them on…

positive · AI labelView post →All frosting, no cake The art is beautiful as always, food looks delicious, the backgrounds are stunning, character design is pretty. The story is... okay. I love the idea of it being more personal, but there's the problem I had in CSD3 as well: you either wait at the beginning of the level to pay attention to the dialogue, or you just skip it, because it's very hard to focus. The gameplay is awful. That's just it. I hate every bit about it. The cooking system that is now hardly adapted for…
