positive · AI labelView post →OK so this covers 0079, Zeta, Char's Counterattack... Where's the Charmuro marriage movie
neutral · AI labelView post →While they largely reflect the events of the film Char's Counterattack after the first book, Tomino provides an important clarification with regards to the One Year War that's exclusive to the second entry of his High Streamer novel trilogy: Kai Shiden called Bright 'Daddy'.
neutral · AI labelView post →Char's Counterattack is an odd beast because as a movie it's like, pretty good, IMO it works better as a capstone for early UC instead of on its own, I know several people who found it overhyped (which is valid) but the DISCUSSIONS. every time it comes up in discord it's Philosophy Hour

neutral · AI labelView post →Char's Counterattack is such a DENSE movie, so much is happening all the time, and I think you could make a case that on its own it could be better, but when you take it as the capstone to early UC Gundam and its themes and characters, it's just really a phenomenonal piece of work.
positive · AI labelView post →Char's Counterattack really ended with this song like okay this is my favorite romance movie actually
positive · AI labelView post →It’s hard to recommend the first Hathaway movie because it really works best if you have the context of Char’s Counterattack beforehand, and that works best if you have the context of three Gundam series beforehand, but it’s “Gundam meets Death Note if Kira had just wanted to bomb the government”
neutral · AI labelView post →warning for people seeing Char’s Counterattack on Sunday: there are no trailers. It actually starts at the starting time. Do not show up ten minutes late to skip the trailers or you will skip ten minutes of movie
neutral · AI labelView post →Something’s wrong with my copy of Char’s Counterattack I don’t remember these scenes being in the movie…
neutral · AI labelView post →Here's a little more about early Char's Counterattack production material. Again, working to dispel the notion that Hi-Streamer novels were the basis for the film, you can see here we had a few different plot ideas when Tomino was kicking around the movie idea.
neutral · AI labelView post →GODDDDDDDDD I AM SO HAPPY I GOT TO SEE BIG SCREEN CHAR’S COUNTERATTACK it’s so beautiful I’ve seen this movie before obviously but god does the animation shine in a theater. I kept gasping just from how pretty it is
positive · AI labelView post →Good morning everyone! A few more days until I go on vacation (to see my mom, but also to see Char's Counterattack. Yes my mom is aware of the movie and she doesn't mind that she's second fiddle here lmao) I will be bringing The Plushies.
neutral · AI labelView post →NEW VIDEO OUT!! For several years, a specific set of novels made a lot of the Gundam community believe that they laid the foundations for the iconic Char's Counterattack film. However, there's a lot people don't know about both series... youtu.be/lzYhB3fZiqw

positive · AI labelView post →Why is the root folder of the Japanese Char’s Counterattack DVD named ‘Char_Aznable’… and not the name of the movie?!
neutral · AI labelView post →Char's Counterattack is beautiful because Ikuhara can say it's a romance movie like Sailor Moon R and Oshii can say it's a political movie like Patlabor 2 and both of them are totally right
neutral · AI labelView post →Char's Counterattack is a good film. I would feel better about having attended what was apparently its first ever UK screening if the audio hadn't desynced to be about three lines behind.
neutral · AI labelView post →As the "you haven't watched Char's Counterattack nearly enough times to form an opinion on it" guy, Beltorchika's Children is so close to the actual film that reading it is honestly kind of a slog
neutral · AI labelView post →The second Gundam Hathaway movie is still good stuff. Still mostly dialogue & maneuvering than action. It’s a good thing that I rewatched the 1st Gundam Hathaway and have extremely good recall of Char’s Counterattack. Don’t leave during the credits like nearly all the other nerds in the theater did.

Its story continues in the Crossbone Gundam manga. It debuted in the 1st SRW (GB) a month later. Happy 35th Anniversary 🎉

neutral · AI labelView post →Last night I saw Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack in the theatre with the cool @madamcrime.bsky.social and the rad @mangadungeon.bsky.social! It wasn't my first time with Char and his Counterattacking, but I feel a little different than I did last time, so let's examine this '80s movie! 🧵

neutral · AI labelView post →That's right, @zeonicscans.bsky.social and I will be popping back up on Giant Robot FM soon to talk about the "Char's Counterattack" novels. I should get back to researching the movie production history...!
neutral · AI labelView post →Transformers The Movie is mirror universe Char's Counterattack. Silly horseback fight aside, everything everyone remembers about CCA is the last 20 minutes. By contrast, everything great with TFTM is in the opening third. This at least beats GI Joe The Movie where only the opening 3 minutes are good
neutral · AI labelView post →Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack (1988) Incredible. A tragic movie about failing to communicate. A beautiful movie about the importance of connection. A perfect movie about imperfect people. A wonderful capstone to the 79, Zeta & ZZ. They'll never make me hate you, Quess Paraya
positive · AI labelView post →Netflix, of course, has its OWN Gundam, Requiem for Vengeance, but it also carries Seed, Destiny, and the Seed Freedom movie, the original movie trilogy, Char's Counterattack, and Hathaway.

positive · AI labelView post →Char's Counterattack The best way for me to describe this film after seeing it for the first time in over 20 years is that it's a good movie that just doesn't really appeal to me. Watching iconic moments on the big screen was neat, but I walked away with my general feelings towards it unchanged.
neutral · AI labelView post →Char’s Counterattack in movie theaters this week. I can’t wait for my friends to discover why I’m Like That™
positive · AI labelView post →it somehow took me ages to realise that Char's Counterattack is the name of an entire movie and not like, one scene from the show. When people said "bro you gotta watch Char's Counterattack" I thought they were recommending "check out this one specific cool thing that he does"

neutral · AI labelView post →The overwhelming majority of the running time of Char’s Counterattack centers on characters seen for the first time in that film. All the iconic stuff everyone remembers is like…the last 15 minutes of the movie and a few short scenes peppered throughout featuring Amuro & Char aka “who we care about”
