A slickly produced but otherwise mediocre knockoff of the board game MicroMacro: Crime City. Play that instead, you'll have a better time. To start, this is not an "investigation" game. The overall idea of the game is fun, the puzzles are easy and you can tell a lot of work has gone into making it. It is very well made. However there is way too much dialogue (more like monologue tbh) with the AI narrator. It is to the point that the game becomes boring. I wish there was a way to turn the AI monologues off, or at least turn them down, so that there is not so much of AI's contstant talking. All I …

On Metacritic, Crime O'Clock received positive reviews for macOS and Windows and mixed reviews on the Switch. Siliconera said it is "a novel take" and "generally a lot of fun", but they felt it can become repetitive when played for longer sessions. They also found the minigames "unnecessary". Shacknews called it "an enjoyable throwback" that has been updated to modern standards, which they said alleviates the frustration of hidden object games. Although Nintendo Life enjoyed the art, they found the gameplay repetitive and did not like the minigames. They recommended it to fans of hidden object games but said others would probably not like it. TouchArcade enjoyed the art and premise, but…

That certainly was a way to spend my time. Crime O'Clock is a hidden object game where you prevent crimes through the time stream that were never supposed to happen... and that's about it. The gameplay never changes outside of that aside from adding a couple of gadgets that allow you to open crates and boxes or allow you to see inside buildings (but only certain ones). That being said, the game is FILLED to the BRIM with tiny little annoyances that cause me to walk away from the game feeling…

The game has potential, but you can't play this game in peace. You're always interrupted by the smarta** AI and too easy minigames. It makes the game feel artificially drawn out when all I wanna do is skip through time and solve puzzles that way.

What a waste of potential. I thought this game will let me investigate, make discoveries, learn facts and solve crimes through time ! But no, its just a long (veryyyyy long) linear game with the same sceneries forcing to play again and again new where is waldo puzzles over and over. The game is fun, for the first few puzzles. And then, i just want to desinstall it. a long game for a short fun. Pls, pass by and bought "Hidden Folk" or in the board game genre "MicroMacro Crime City". You will…

I'm.... frustrated by this game. It's fun enough! A cool romp through pretty where's waldo style puzzles, broken up by extremely simple and basic little puzzles. But I feel like this gets bogged down by a narrative that... it doesn't really warrant. You have no real freedom to solve cases on your pace, you gotta find what the game wants you to find when the game wants you to find it, and that's it. You're told much more than you're shown, and the dialogue..... the dialogue man. It's way too…

This is not a game, unfortunately. The design is good and it has pieces that COULD be good, but at the end of the day it's an instruction manual. You are given a directive by your AI "Companion" and you have to click on the right thing before you receive another instruction. There's no deduction, there's no freedom, just a constant back and forth of "click - wall of text - click - wall of text." It's a shame, it looked decent from the descriptions.

This game upsets me, it's got tons of potential and charm but the execution misses completely. You've given plenty of nice artwork with a clever twist on the "Where's Waldo" formula but the designers completely misunderstood why detective games are fun in the first place. Instead of being given all the data at once and told to figure out a case, you're the pawn of some big "AI" character who's actually doing all the sleuthing and leaving you to deal with the mundane and boring task of…

The art style is totally nice. The game principle could be awesome. But actually it is a lot of wasted potential. Instead of giving the player free choice and letting them out for free exploration the game limits every move of the player. The guiding "AI" in the game ist talking way waaaaaaay to much and it simply takes every chance for the player to actually have fun with the game. I was instantry hooked when I found the game just to be totally disappointed in whwat it actually is.

I liked the part with the mysteries. I did not like the part with the long unskippable animations, or the linear plots that meant I wasn't allowed to make inferences or find clues out of order, or the missions where you had to just click on this exhaustively until a solution presented itself, or the people who seemed to teleport around the map so there was no logical way to follow them, or the "guess what the designer was thinking" missions where perfectly valid answers were ignored because…

I'm so pissed that i have to give this game a negative review because it could have been SOOO good! The extra levels are what this game should have been. My almost 20 hours of playtime were at least 5 hours of stupid mini games, and 7 hours of stupid dialogue, then about 3 hours of unskippable animations. The story is bad and predictable, the levels annoying because they are continuously interrupted by chatter and the solutions to the little stories you are following very unsatisfying. As…

5/10 A great idea ends up being a boring game filled with annoyingly easy minigames and slow animations. The fulcrums are fun but the main story not so much. After 10 hours of playing, it still feels like you're stuck in a tutorial, following an exhausting plot with very limited actions. And the dialogue is just too much. The world building may be deep, but I just wanted to play Where Is Waldo with time travelling.

Great concept for a hidden object game, where you go back and forward in time to solve a crime, but the pacing get bogged down by the ridiculous amount of simple (like, you solve them in under 10 seconds, simple) minigames that insert themselves several times during each mission. I have no idea who thought that was a good idea, but that alone is enough to not recomend this. I like the concept of this game, but there's too much jibber jabber. There needs to be an option to turn that off or skip the dialogue if I wanted to. I like that there's a story to each case you solve, but the fact that you have to click through so much text to just move on to the next interactive thing to do is annoying.

It looks great, the art is clean and stylish, but you don't really get to enjoy playing it much as you're railroaded every step, and every time you find something the game needs to pause and s l o w l y transition to a different screen and put you through one of a handful of annoying mini games before you're allowed to look again. This game has the potential to be so much fun, but it leaves you so on the rails you don't really get to explore any of the dynamics that make it unique. It's a very interesting game, don't get me wrong, but the narrative practically drags you to each specific detail. Your only moment to freely explore the hook that defines the game is in the side quests. I recommend doing them, though! The art is wonderful and I loved the references to other media and games. This game was good purely hidden object wise. It had a lot of different characters, the different locations were well designed, and even had some cool pop culture references! I also enjoyed that you could use different mechanics to find certain objects or characters. I really wanted to like this game, but there are just too many annoying and frustrating things that get in the way of an enjoyable experience. On paper, the game is an interesting mix of the hidden object and detective/investigation genres. More like a visual novel than a hidden object game. Not enough self-directed discovery to feel like a proper detective. Too many interruptions from mindless minigames; it would be better if they required some thinking, but the minigames are truly brainless. The animation transitions, while suitable, also get old very quickly. Waiting for the game to move from tick 10 to tick 1 or for it to go into the mandatory minigame sections feel more drawn out than they need to be, almost as if it's trying…

Investigation games are my main favorite genre, I played all of them and was also very excited to try this one. Right of the bat, the main issue that most players will face with Crime O'Clock is the expectation of getting a detective game. This is not it. It's basically on the verge of being a visual novel with lots of (mediocre) mini-games in between. Those mini-games are never challenging enough to feel rewarding or make the users feel smart about solving them. They're also very intrusive,…

Sigh. I get what people who gave negative reviews meant, this is not a perfect game by a long shot, but I still enjoyed it immensely, so I just have to throw in my 2 cents. This is basically Where's Waldo in black and white, with a few minigames thrown in the mix (some of them I didn't care for, but overall they weren't too difficult). I gave this game a good try, but it just isn't for me. First of all, the game's map is completely black and white, which turned out to be quite an eyesore when playing it for long sessions. I have zero idea why this game wanted to do a black and white aesthetic, but I can assure you it does nothing to really help this game, if anything, it just adds artificial difficulty and makes the game far worse than it could be. It can be a little hand-holdy where you can't diverge from the set path of find Waldo in this specific way but I think it's a fine game-design choice. The crux of the game has you find things on a big picture full of fun little drawings (and the art is good) as part as a series of investigations into various cases. This is a tough one. The elements are here for a really great game--almost like The Case of the Golden Idol or Return of the Obra Dinn. It would have been great to tick forward and backwards, solving mysteries by piecing together what people were up to throughout the time period. But in the end, they decided to have a jabber-mouth narrator hold your hand in a death-grip as you are forced to find one very specific thing at every turn. This was a very unnecessary and obnoxious design decision,…

The look and idea behind the game are cool, however it's annoying that you cannot make own choices and just have to find the one way the game is supposed to be played. Also, the AI minigame sequences were quiet lame. The story isn't bad but isn't engaging in the slightest. My biggest gripe is that the core gameplay is fine when it's strictly people they're asking you to find. This game simultaneously handholds too much and too little, if that makes any sense. Let me explain, particularly the "too much" part. The story of the game involves searching for hidden characters and objects Where's Waldo/Wally style in sets of ten maps, each map separated by "ticks" of time - ranging from a few seconds to a few minutes. Appleseed's Indie Game Of The Day! Day 99) Crime O'Clock by Bad Seed A puzzle game where you go back in time to solve crime related puzzles and mysteries. It's a really fun concept with amazing art, with a "Where's Waldo?" esque "find the crime/culprit" style to it.

This game has a cool concept and interesting story. But the main problem is that the gameplay is interrupted too much which makes playing the game feels so tiring. You solve a small clue, then have to wait for the NPC to finish the dialogue, then solve a mini puzzle which is unrelated to the hidden objects mechanic (and not even challenging), then solve a small clue, repeat these above. I just hope that the game has a way to keep playing the game fluently and you can solve the case by yourself,…

This is a game I wanted to enjoy, as I love Hidden Object games like this, and the art is wonderful! The idea of following characters between points in time to uncover stories and solve mysteries is so wonderful! But it is all held back by a plot that while decent and fun, drags the game down by halting you every step of the way. Stopping you beat for beat just to remind you of things and drag every little thing out further and further. The Mini-games only hindered the flow more so, every time…

My Score: 8,5/10 Prologue Time, for some a term used to refer to hours and minutes, for others used to refer to the passage of days and lived experiences, and for others a very interesting concept to theorize and fantasize about things like being able to travel through time and through the ages. However, in a world somewhat similar to ours, where evolution took a slightly different route, making humans and furries evolve together, creating through a somewhat different route, a civilization…

The story is cool the concept of the gameplay also seems cool. The execution is terrible it's slow and clunky and doesn't actually allow the player to actually get into the game because you are interrupted way too often and transitions are ridiculously slow.

I had a lot of fun when the demo first came out and waited patiently for a sale on this but after playing through the full game I was left disappointed. The story itself was predictable but the gameplay repeated itself over and over and never added anything fun or new. I got to where I hated each time a mini game came up. Most are not explained what your supposed to do (or even click on) so it's guess work to begin with however nearly all of these have timers that in some cases are too short…

I would just say to play this only if you like your hidden object games with a bit of personality. It's quite pleasant, but you are often left on your own finding things that don't really make sense. The minigames are awful and feel like they are designed to pad the time out. The art is beautiful with one major exception. For some reason the devs decided to put a different tine over every mission which really messes with your head when trying to find things. Sometimes it's a nice…

Linear, wordy for no reason, and honestly kinda boring. The interactive parts are very easy. The actual hidden object parts are fun but the long dialogue from the AI system is a lot. Just wasn't what I was wanting

i got it hoping it would be a murder mystery hidden object and - It is some what hidden object, which I do like. The art is fantastic and details through all the different 10 steps of any particular chapter. However the game on a rail. It's SO on a Rail that Rail should be one of the tags. The mini games never get more difficult and always sit at an ease level that makes them feel like interruptions. Otherwise fine game to jump in and out of. I bought it on sale and I think the sale price was…

Ugh... Wasted potential is my take. Intrigued by the detective part after playing the demo, but the gameplay is soooo repetitive after that point. From the game play difficulty I'm not sure who the target audience is. The tedious minigames and the Find Waldo premise make me think this should be a pretty good game for young children, but then again the game is in LOVE with using big technological empty words to sound too coooool for children. The writing is very mediocre as well. The…
