What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 29 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Positive (70 of 92 positive).
Players praise the game's blend of real-time tactics with a turn-based operational layer, reminiscent of Blitzkrieg and Total War. [1][2][3] Some reviewers note the game suffers from dated graphics, poor AI, and repetitive missions. [4][5][6] Fans of the original Cuban Missile Crisis appreciate the new units and snowy setting, but miss removed factions and longer campaigns. [7][8][9]

Don't get me wrong, I would recommend this game if it did not have so many faults. I would still also recommend it if you are really into this kind of thing, and the game is on a strong offer..... eg 75% off or better. This game is indentical to the previous CMC game. Except, obviously, for new scenarios, some new scenery, some new units, but a hell of lot more REMOVED units!!!!! Not ONE of the bugs and faults with …

Cuban Missile Crisis: Ice Crusade is an older milsim/RTS game where you control a bunch of tanks and things and shoot up the baddies and feel very tacticool about being a military general. Unfortunately this is simply too dated to recommend, with no widescreen support, no 1080p or higher support. The game displays widescreen stretched 4:3. The only gamers who might be interested in this would be for nostalgia …

Cuban Missile Crisis runs off of the classic WW2 RTS, Blitzkrieg, which is still a fantastic game. Cuban Missile Crisis, unlike Blitzkrieg, adds a turn-based operational layer that allows players to fight through a dyanmic campaign and deploy 'battle groups' across a theater map. The addition of the operational layer adds a whole new challenge to the game, causing players to wisely deploy battle groups, capture …

An old but gold strategy game in my book. This expansion fixed an exploit from the first game and as a result makes this game much more difficult if you used to rely on it. A post-apocalyptic cold-war setting is something I always enjoyed. The music is memorable for me as I know it by heart (along with unit voices). The Soviet Campaign is something I enjoyed the most. And the details about your units in the unit …

I love this game. The Single player is a blast! I feel it reminds me of total war with the turn-based system. Your goal is to capture certain facilities on the map that bring in certain resources or other support needs. (Spare parts, fuel, ammo, airbase, radar, etc.) except much more simplifed and obviously in a different universe with tanks, aircraft and infantry! The Single player USA campaign is awesome! Going …

Was hoping to get this one plus 13 Days: The Cuban Missile Crisis and Watergate in. Took us longer to play 1960 than I had planned. Had fun though. @jasondcmatthews.bsky.social #boardgames

While I'm familiar with events in general, I'd like to better understand the American societal response, right down to the individual level."

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →6) Here's a bad example: "I'm working on a game based on the Cuban Missile Crisis. Can you help me get the details right?" That's less than helpful because there's no indication of what the game is and what it is you need beyond "help" or vaguely defined "details".

neutral · AI labelView post →Yea, that's a military game theory that I know I'm not competent to help others form even an initial opinion. I studied game theory in college and also its practical application during the Cuban Missile Crisis. And saying "it's complicated" is a massive understatement.

neutral · AI labelView post →Cuban Missile Crisis: Ice Crusade is a real-time strategy game little like red alert but with limited units that can't be replaced. Everything seems nice for a 2005 game. It's basically exactly the same as Cuban Missile Crisis but with a snow theme, that is all The fog of war is your greatest enemy, foot soldiers are a little bit weird in terms of their reaction time, but it kinda plays a realistic part in war zones. It's a very enjoyable game, the tutorial has too many notice boxes, too much…

It was only on Cyber Monday of 2015, nearly a decade later, that I discovered the Ice Crusade expansion pack. So I bought this and got back into the old groove. It was just like I remembered. I had to smile that even in the expansion pack, the enemy still has a prediliction for trying to take back radar installations. I never understood why they did that, but they still do it in Ice…

On 10/20, there was a full slate of NCAA football games (Northwestern beat Ohio State!). 10/21 saw 7 NFL games, with NYG over DET. 62,000+ were at Yankee Stadium for that game.
