Dark Moon
Developer Jujubee S.A.
Dark Moon is a survival strategy game where in order to survive you must avoid the Sun’s scorching rays and embrace the darkness. Gather resources, upgrade your mobile base, make tough moral decisions, but most importantly - don’t go into the light! From the Steam store page

Oh boy… where to start? This game is alpha at best. The core idea is genuinely intriguing — I love Frostpunk-esque base-building and survival games — but the execution is rough, and the bugs are so glaring that I seriously doubt any proper playtesting was done. If you enjoy strategy games with survival elements—where, in addition to building and managing, you also have to react to changing conditions and make decisions that have consequences—"Dark Moon" will be a great choice for you. Fans of sci-fi themes and unusual survival environments (in this case: the Moon, the Sun as the enemy) will also find something for themselves here. The "Mechaplex" mobile base mechanic is a …

Dark Moon has been a fantastic surprise. It nails that survival‑strategy loop where every decision matters, every resource counts, and every run teaches you something new. The tension is constant but never frustrating, and the sense of progression keeps pulling you back in. The atmosphere is great, the mechanics feel tight, and the game already has a solid foundation. What excites me most is seeing how it evolves …

neutral · AI labelView post →Clunky UI, intermittent audio drop-out, intermittent loss of UI elements (Specifically resource node indicators), very rail-roady and whilst the premise is interesting the execution leaves something to desire. If you don't complete a story segment quickly enough you soft-lock yourself to lose the game since there's no way to escape the sun other than completing objectives. I was looking forward to this game but was left disappointed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →dont bother, the concept is great, but the game is unfinished, achievements for completing the game is only 0,2% (of all players), lots of game breaking bugs, and devs abandoned it, no updates or any info for months...

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its basic and full of bugs. I keep having to reload because drones randomly spawn outside the usable map and I cant click on them so I cant proceed. Has potential but not anywhere near realized. Ixion is an example of the level of polish this game should strive for, and it falls far short.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has a great potential, it's similer to IXION and frostpunk, but it needs a graphics enhancements. Moreover, the game has a lot of bugs to be addressed, suddenly, all spiders have a speed of a negative value like -22, -37, I could not build an Energy Plant because of electromagnet field, so basically, I couldn't move my spiders and couldn't build anything. Not recommended unless they fix those issues. Regarding the gameplay, I spent more than 80% of time healing crew members, come on!…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Clearly an unfinished game, full of bugs (some of which halt progress permanently), weird UI issues, and terrible story interludes. Even worse, the developers are nowhere to be seen despite recently launching the game. I refunded it gladly.

I've played very little of CNK and liked it, I haven't played any of CTTR so that's new for me. Excited to play Dark Moon in HD too 😊

neutral · AI labelView post →you can really feel how long a distance there is between the first game and Dark Moon as well in the way it has to have a world that's made up with a bunch of themed chunks of land stuck together
neutral · AI labelView post →Before writing this review, I double checked to see if this game was released as Early Access and even then it would had been hard to give this a thumbs up since there's a lot of issues which were part of the old demo and has not been fixed. Bugs include but are not limited to - Inconsistent pathing, I've had drones 'boogy woogie' through the terrain far enough that their travel back to pack up became 1 hour instead of a few minutes because they somehow wiggled up onto a cliff through the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is unplayable. Never get time to do what you need. replacing buildings that just vanish is ridiculous. would watch the crew asphixiate again.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You really did not need to use AI to write the dialogue. Even if it wasn't ai... I'm sorry, the dialogues are just really bad. Aside from that, the UI design is terrible, the gameplay designers think that more "features" (stupid little things to tinker with even when they're meaningless) = always better, the tutorial is confusing and frankly boring. The concept is great, the execution fell on its face. The game is really pretty though.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice concept. It could be a good game. But we are over six months after release and game still is full of glitches and performance issues. I literally restarted the campaign 3 times trying to make it work, but after a few hours in, performance is unbearable. I lost hopes to see it fixed anytime soon. I avoid putting negative reviews, I think this is my first one. But I do feel I had 20 hours wasted trying to make it work.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mix of Frost Punk and This war of mine. +nice random events which reminds of Frost Punk/This war of mine +tutorial helps in getting to know the whole UI and gameplay +seems to be complex and not as easy -UI sometimes is pretty clunky and oldschool, especially on 4k screen ...for the first glance, I need to play more though :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Something I miss about the first Luigi's Mansion game (and bits/pieces of Dark Moon) is that the rooms felt like actual places that would be there. You were exploring like bedrooms and stuff, not "random medieval floor because fuck you."
neutral · AI labelView post →Played this game for 2 hours and I liked the game but at soon as the beginning ends, it takes 95% of my cpu to run and it starts lagging so much that its not fun to play anymore. Great story plot and gameplay but its systems needs to be fixed or better optimizing
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the premise, but it needs some time in the oven. It is needlessly difficult as some basic functions require the player to just wait, while there is a hard timer. This timer makes it hard to learn what you are doing wrong or fiddle with buildings as the whole game seems to constantly force you to keep moving. After 8 hours I have made it around the moon 1 time, and effectively gave up as I made a mistake in not building enough harvesters, thus it takes forever to gather supplies. See the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed the automatic collection of minerals by drones, which makes resource gathering smooth and satisfying. The decision-making system is engaging, forcing you to carefully consider every choice. On top of that, the system for moving ships between locations on the Moon adds a strategic layer that keeps you constantly thinking ahead.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Polish? Yeah glitches, poorly worded instructions, I'd say this game suffers from translation with wording being awkwardly formated. Fun so far though and solid tip get the production +2 trust me it makes the game so much easier to manage. Great for people that enjoyed frost punk with city management and survival or rimworld. If you have all your browsers and stuff set to dark theme you'll enjoy the lack of harsh light in your face. 5/10 will raise my review when i dont have to deleat stuck…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an early review for Dark Moon. I like the game. I got it for an introductory price of $15 which I think is fair. I think the game could use a little bit more polish. There is something a little off and sometimes things feel a little janky. Sometimes its the dialogue, sometimes its the menu or lack of tooltips. Like after I do a scan and I see the resource, I'd like to have a tooltip to identify the resource in question, rather than trying to match the icon to figure out what I'm…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's... so promising, and so frustrating. Pathfinding issues, saving issues, "all the resource nodes are in the air and all my harvesters are stuck trying to reach them" issues. If it wasn't for the bugs, this might be something great, but at this time, it's just too fraught to invest time in.

I've made no decisions about anything. The execution of this idea is so horrible. We didn't need any story whatsoever past the setup. Yet that is what the focus has been with near zero gameplay.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like the way you gain more walkers, which feels a bit like Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak. It gives a satisfying sense of progression and scale. That said, the maps feel a bit small, and I’m curious about the walkers’ movement — are they truly walking across the map, or do they lift off the ground when traveling? If they fly, I’d love to see a take-off animation, as it would add even more immersion and visual flair.

positive · AI labelView post →I’m really into games with a retro vibe and some good sci-fi setting and this one caught me by surprise. Honestly something different and really stands out from most games. An awesome universe that’s dark but also super engaging. The music adds A LOT to the atmosphere (kudos to the composer!) and since you’re basically stuck in the dark most of the time it’s extra cool to play with the lights off and blinds down. The idea of mobile bases is a great concept, can’t wait to see how that develops…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The idea behind this game is pretty good, but the execution was just horrible. The basic premises of the game is that you're controlling a spider bot to walk across the moon to outrun a solar disaster. The game is real-time with pause, with resource gathering and building happening in real time - which isn't a problem in itself, but there's two issues: somehow, while the spiderbot is moving (whether this is in a map or on the moon) nobody can work in buildings (even though you can LIVE in…

positive · AI labelView post →They have cleaned up a lot of the glitches as far as I can tell as I didn't encounter a single one so far. I'm still gonna give the game a thumbs down as its just kinda mid. Nothing exciting, nothing special. I find the worker relationship system confusing not really sure if I can even influence it. The game overall feels kinda aim less I kept wondering around the moon but never really knew where to go. The little mining drones are annoying as you can't micro manage what they are mining easily.…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game starts slowly, carefully explaining each function with clear tutorial videos. Then you’re introduced to choices and crew management. The opening hour is essentially an extended tutorial with lore. It’s an old-school strategy-management game that reminds me of the first Fallout. After that, the game lets you go on your own: objectives are described vaguely, and the path to them is entirely up to you. You can focus on gathering resources, exploring new sites, and making lots of decisions…

Yes, it has maybe the worst boss in any Nintendo game. But I think the overall gameplay and creative mansion designs make up for it. Not as good as 1 & 3, but good. #365Games

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Had only few minutes to play, but so far it looks much better than expected. With this price seems like really worth it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The atmosphere is fantastic, and I loved the simplicity of the UI — it never feels overwhelming, even with everything going on. I really enjoyed how involved you get with your crew members, from diagnosing medical issues to performing amputations, and even helping them recover by crafting a new hand. That level of care and detail is just awesome.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game shines with its complexity, from managing resources and your crew to making hard choices that actually matter. Every decision feels weighty, and the stakes are real. On top of that, the drones and ambient sounds create a perfectly eerie, immersive atmosphere that makes the lonely Moon feel alive… and dangerous. It’s a survival experience that’s as thoughtful as it is tense.
