I failed” and I think about that every time I see a post about self care as resistance

positive · AI labelView post →Dark Waters is a great film that everyone should watch, a bit like Spotlight. While on the subject of Chemicals I see the farmers are out spraying fields which means a few days of dizziness and headaches which I'm assured is nothing.
positive · AI labelView post →Parkersburg's assets have been its position on the Ohio River and its proximity to oil and gas deposits that made it one of the first oil boom towns in America. Fracking has been big there. Those two things have made it a chemical center, incl. the DuPont plant chronicled in the movie DARK WATERS

neutral · AI labelView post →The film DARK WATERS was about the true effects of PFAS in humans, water tables and carcinogenic health epidemics. Check it out if you’re unsure how dangerous this action by the EPA is considering. Reversing years of established regulations which never went far enough. Beware America.

neutral · AI labelView post →The writing may not be very impressive, but DARK WATERS is a very cool movie, aesthetically. The score is a work of madness--droning and discordant--and every frame is a beautiful nightmare rendered in grays, browns, and reds.

positive · AI labelView post →Randomly decided to rewatch Dark Waters tonight, and it remains a one man against evil corruption gem. Wish we'd gotten more of this type of film in recent times. Lord knows the moment we're all currently living through has a ton of viable material.
positive · AI labelView post →What an amazing & upsetting drama Dirty Business on C4 was tonight. I remember watching the film Dark Waters and feeling lucky to live in the UK where flagrant profiteering never got as extreme as in the US. What a dupe! Please sign the petition below
neutral · AI labelView post →Just like Dupont. The movie Dark Waters is a shocking true story about the forever chemicals that the underfunded EPA left it to industry to regulate themselves. But they didn't, even as they lied that they were.
neutral · AI labelView post →#Watched Dark Waters (1993) - Realized I forgot to log this way back when - way back when being the opening days of Covid. A fitting movie for the time, isolation, creeping chaos and paranoia, yes Elizabeth, those nuns really are Lovecraftian horrors who are out to get you.
positive · AI labelView post →The voters are incredibly stupid, especially in West Virginia. Watch the movie Dark Waters and ask yourself how they could possibly vote for a republican and want less safety regulations.

positive · AI labelView post →Late night library BluRay is Todd Haynes's "Dark Waters" (2020), a real life horror film about Dupont and Teflon poisoning a small town. Someday we'll organize a Corporate Killers film fest of this, "Erin Brockovich", "The Insider"...

neutral · AI labelView post →Showed it to my little local film club a few months ago, as part of a whistleblowers theme. We've also seen THE INFORMANT!, SILKWOOD, and DARK WATERS. So far, the biggest takeaway (besides that these are all great films) is that even if they have an impact, whistleblowers have their lives ruined.
neutral · AI labelView post →Dark Waters is a great movie that touches on this.
positive · AI labelView post →Tried watching DARK WATERS a few times before finally making it all the way through today. Always had trouble getting past how mega derivative it is of Fulci and Argento. The film hasn't changed but I guess I have as I found myself accepting/enjoying it as a fun tribute to the two Italian masters.

neutral · AI labelView post →Only took me six years to get round to watching the film Dark Waters. Well worth the wait. It's certainly prescient given the attention now being paid to PFAS / PFOS. A stark lesson in persistence and sticking to the facts. #waterquality m.imdb.com/title/tt9071...
positive · AI labelView post →Forever chemicals cause multiple health conditions and even cancers. The majority of the world's populations now have these chemicals common in their blood. Both 3M and DuPont have been sued because of this. If you want to watch a good film on this, I recommend Dark Waters with Mark Ruffalo.

'Last week, the EPA disclosed it was no longer prepared to uphold rules designed to protect people from unsafe levels of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (Pfas ) – also known as “forever chemicals – in drinking water.'

positive · AI labelView post →Find the movie Dark Waters and watch it. Then tell me how this is a good thing. Decades from now there will be lawsuits over this. Ask the people of Parkersburg WV. I won’t use non stick cookware any more. Allergist called my area Chemical Valley for a reason.
positive · AI labelView post →On this same subject, highly recommend people check out the movie DARK WATERS, which is based on a true story about these forever chemicals. Unfortunately, we all have PFAs in our bodies.
