I think this could be the best survival game since Valheim, when it is released fully. Combat feels decent, blocking and dodging are responsive and each have their benefits. Only 3 melee weapon types currently - spear, sword and mace with a bow for some ranged. Each has a slightly different heavy attack and have differing attack speeds/animations so they feel different enough to be worth trying. There are currently …

Dawn of Defiance is a deep, absorbing sandbox that kept me playing for hours. The mix of questing, exploration, base-building, and resource gathering gives you plenty of ways to play, and the variety of mob strengths and encounter pacing keeps combat feeling fresh and balanced. There’s a satisfying loop of expanding your base, pushing into new zones, and tackling ever-tougher threats. The developers are clearly …

I've played many survival games, so I can judge em pretty early. This is an early access title that was off to a janky start, but has become markedly less janky in the last eight months or so. I watched videos of the game a while back, and if you watch old videos, you'll see what I mean. The combat was god awful eight months ago. To call it jank is to be nice about it. Mobs clipped around during combat and …

The reality is that this game is playable, the graphics, sound, and gameplay are okay. But it was released two years ago, and half the skills say "Coming Soon". The skills that are there are just flat percentages that don't add much to gameplay. Beyond being notified on-screen when you gain a level, you wouldn't even know the difference. Unlike most open world games, all crafting recipes are locked behind arbitrary quests that the game tosses at you. So though the map may be largely open,…

This game is VERY good. It has very good structure, decent combat for a crafting survival - could be better but its decent. There is a good quests that are fun and interesting something you dont get in most crafting survival - this game has Dungeon raids. While a little content light - there is more on the roadmap - It has a little bit of the that breath of the wild feel. If you like Crafting Survival games like Valheim or Enshrouded you will Fully enjoy this game.; Solid purchase.

Exceedingly jank. There's nothing in this game that isn't jank. The combat and movement is VERY stiff. Base movement speed is too slow. Attacks don't stagger. Movement acceleration feels off. flying isn't floaty enough. Dodges don't interrupt attack animations. Some enemy attacks have very little build-up making them hard to dodge. Your camera is locked to your character's rotation. No drag and drop in inventory. Arrow drop is so bad it feels like the bows all have a 5lb draw weight. Durability…

Great start. Pros: Decent base building - looking forward to more decor Great theming and the powers are fun Large dungeon raids Combat is clean and easy to learn Cons: The game is currently pretty short but they are working on that. Combat is simple and hopefully will evolve with the development a bit more. Leveling powers can be tedious Harvesting wood - fine mechanic, but you just need so much.

Feels super empty of features? The world is nice, but there's so many things that don't seem to appear ingame at all. No skill tree? Levelling up essentially gets you nothing except for a random perk at level 10 and 25. no fast travel, no home teleport, crafting does not pull from storage, stack sizes are super low, We went to every single tin spawn listed on the wiki, in the dark forest, across two days, not a single tin node? Armour has no buffs per class, only one debuff? I…

Not a complete game, can be defeated maybe in like 10 hrs or less, its to be continued...... Only good to go into 'creative mode' and build your dream house, thats about it. Also alot of bugs and janky and laggy at random. Not worth its full price, maybe $5 would be worth it, unless you just like building, though the combat is pretty simple which is a plus. They need major updates, its been two years since it came out and not tons of progress, 2 'raids' stupid timed puzzles, and idiotic mazes…

Might be the worst survival craft game i have ever played, janky af, buggy af, does things that defy logic, gaming conventions, and normal survival game mechanics, oh and they just laugh at bugs likely because they have no clue how to fix them like you respawning stuck inside your bed. At this stage stay clear away from this hot mess, there is a slim chance they could fix it but doesn't honestly seem likely.

A bit vanilla as far as survival games go until you reach the raids. The raids seem to be a bit more of a unique function within the game and provide a great experience along with a much welcome break from the normal tree punching and bush grabbing. QoL is mostly up to modern standards but its still missing that wonderful touch of automation once you get into the later game. Gathering things by hand is great and all but a player shouldn't be expected to revisit material stockpiling after…

Everything feels a bit 'off'. Movement, building, combat, "gliding"(flying) all feel very clunky. I'm seeing a lot of things incorporated into this game (many of the things that I enjoy from other games in this genre) that just don't hit the same level. Roughly stated, gameplay/mechanics are much better in those other games than with this one. I'll give this an A for effort, but a C for execution. I've neither the time nor patience to devote to this game at this time. I hope it improves with…

The Bad: combat is incredible stiffy and often lack animation frames, game performance is not ok either, no DLSS, no FG, my cpu and gpu are going HOT while playng it, not even Ark Ascended with max settings can bring my rig to those temps. Ok for those of you that have not played this game yet or purchased it, well it was already an amazing game. They have made huge updates to this game and every craft or survival game needs to follow the method they use for the intro. Nothing is more frustrating then being put in a tough world and not at least going over the basics. Great job. Now the game is gorgeous, and the add of variety of types of characters was a huge add as well. It looks like they have many more options coming as well.…

I bought this game as soon as I found it. After a brief trial and some disappointment at the lack of a female playable character, I shelved it for a bit. I decided to check in today to see how things were going, and WOW! Quite a bit of progress since I last played! I am impressed so far and hope the developers keep up the good work. The game is shaping up nicely and I definitely recommend giving it a try if you enjoy survival games. I will update further once I have played more!

Dawn of Defiance has grown into a great adventure survival game. The co-op experience is amazing, and I really love that you can jump straight into the game with friends right from the start if you want. It makes exploring and surviving together feel seamless and fun. The progression feels well balanced, giving a steady sense of growth without becoming overwhelming or too easy. There are many things wrong with this game. The camera—let me zoom in or out, play in first person. The interface, besides being poorly designed, has something aesthetically off, like a noise or something, but it's quite jarring; it looks strange. I created a female character, and she walks really weirdly, like she's being squeezed. And the jump—it seems like they used an asset from Spider-Man; I don't know what's up with that. The map feels incredibly empty at the beginning. I didn't get very…

Its fun. Not the deepest experience but also very easy to engage with. It isnt an open world game exactly as it follows a linear story path but it is a nice take on the genre. People who like base building, but particularly dislike any sort of grinding would probably like it. Building is simplistic but works well. The quests are enjoyable. It is very forgiving in terms of the game play. It is a casual version of similar games, with the nearest analogue I can think of being Conan…

I've only just started, but its very realistic; considering the theme. It has a beautiful story line so far, all the greek myth you could want. You can essentially never die if you want, keep your items or drop if you die, and even do it hardcore where you lose everything if you die! I love playing with infinite health and building tons fo stuff! It has stuff for everyone!

Look, I REALLY want to recommend this, but just where it is right now, balance, mechanics and stability-wise, i can't say its worth the money. I've spent the last hour and a half getting my balls steamrolled by the tutorial island because you don't unlock armour until you finish three actually really annoyingly difficult combat challanges, which like, literally why. If a Greek-themed Valheim-like is what you're after, this is it. This is worth the $20 USD price tag. Easy decision when it's on sale. I snagged this for $12 and it's precisely what you see on the tin. I tweaked some settings just a bit here and there under Ultra and have a steady 60 fps. Could be optimized better. Could have some better ground textures, too. Combat is slick and simple. Dodge, parry, strike with a few different types of attacks. Fairly standard fare, but snappy and…

This game does have some potential but the optimization of the game just isn't it. Once i started a new game I had to immediately set my settings to low on everything. Literally went from 60 FPS to 0, after the setting it kinda fixed it. Now the double monitor setting is way off too. After 5 mins or 10 it switches the game from my first monitor to the second every time I try to open up discord or steam. Please fix those 2 complaints. Optimize your game better and fix the monitor issue.

I was pretty sure that I'd already drained all the good games the survival genre had to offer, but somehow this game slipped under my radar. It has good combat, good progression, and good base building. The game has a lot of potential to stand beside the heavy hitters of the genre. Edit: the Frame rate is really bad

At this time, this is a soft pass. It's playable, it has fun moments, but there are a couple of things that just piss me off so hard I Alt+F4'ed a couple minutes ago: The combat is beyond stiff, especially against multiple enemies. There's no lock-on, but a pseudo-lock-on, where the character will "jump" towards, I assume, an enemy I'm facing. This is terrible, since half the time, if there are 2 enemies side-to-side, I'll jump at the one blocking, when I fully intended to attack the one with…

Overall 8/10 in it's current state, which to me says a lot. This dev team is passionate and it shows in this game they've created. I'm not a huge survival game fan but this drew me in, First real session with friends and we played for 16 hours LOL. The building is top tier. The boss fights are interesting with varying mechanics, the crafting is fun, and the puzzles are endless lol.

Pretty cool game. I've enjoyed so far. Not a lot of content but they are working on it.

Take a hard pass on this one. They might fix things by the end of early access but it's just a glitchy, frustrating mess right now. Combat is atrocious and the progression is rocky to say the least.

great game, very fun with awesome combat mechanics. does have a good chance of crashing game and or pc as it does mine on a regular basis. even with a decent pc RYZEN9 5900x and RX 9060 XT 16gb with 32gb ram it still crashes my pc. if this can be fixed (i don't know if its a compatibility issue or not, everything is updated) that would be great as i do plan on playing this game a lot.

Honestly, I wasn't expecting this to be as fun as it is. I thought I'd be treated to a slightly janky, relatively generic survival / crafter. Fans of the genre will know what I'm talking about, especially with regards to early access titles. I'm happy to report that I was completely wrong. The graphics are excellent. Sound design is fantastic. The bow / hunting system might be the best I've ever played. Once I wrapped my head around combat, I found it be very enjoyable. The crafting…

To keep it short, Dawn of Defiance is a game that respects my time, it's like the Devs have seen what other games in the same genre do, and put all stress and/ or tedious parts in the bin, plenty of materials, easy to use building system, I can opt to keep all my loot if I die, enemies that can kick my arse, and yet, are not unbeatable when adding a dash of cunning and positioning in a fight, combat is tight has excellent push/pull/kite/full retreat with zero jank, DoD has an absolutely…

I really like the direction this game is taking. The basic gameplay loop is fun -- there are a variety of workstations and upgrades to chase after, plenty of materials to farm (well... hunt, really -- no farming, as of yet), and more than a few decorations to place. The latest content release was fairly substantial and the roadmap looks fun.
