Dead Man's wire is my 2nd 5* movie of @glasgowfilmfest . A brilliant true story reminiscent of Dog Day Afternoon with a brilliant lead performance by Bill Skarsgard. Probably my favourite Gus Van Sant film - ever!
I'd never seen Myha'la in anything before watching Dead Man's Wire and her accent in it is so bad that I assumed she's just British trying to do American, and relayed this as fact to several people afterwards who were also disturbed by her awful performance. Turns out I'm wrong!
I really dug #DeadMansWire. Feeling straight out of the 70s, this crime thriller from Gus Van Sant finds dark humor in an unbelievable true story and elicits sympathy for a complicated man seeking justice. Bill Skarsgård is fantastic, giving possibly his best performance to date.
Dead Man’s Wire (🌟🌟) didn’t do enough to meet my expectations. I’m making a conscious decision in 2026 to hold cinema more accountable for the quality of films being released.
