What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 173 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (2,114 of 2,425 positive).
Players praise Dead Pixels as a fun retro zombie shooter with great replay value. [1][2][3] Some reviewers find the game boring and repetitive, with slow combat. [4][5][6] The game is considered a good value for its low price. [7][8][9]

Utterly boring. I've only played 17 minutes in total and every second is a grind. The combat is slow and awful. The coins you can collect disappear in seconds, necessitating the need to run into enemies. There are copious amounts of places to search which end up tedious. You have to refill you ammo constantly. It feels like a troll game. Surely there must be more to it but I don't have the patience to find out. …

Great side scrolling zombie shooter! RPG mechanics mixed in help to keep things interesting. Good variety of weapons and tools to deal with the zombie threat. Several game modes with some interesting stages and eventually much harder challenges. You can even bring a buddy and enjoy the game in co-op! Great score for super cheap!

Dead Pixels A surprisingly fun retro zombie shooter with great replay value. I loved the variety of zombies and the bosses. Didn’t expect to lose hours blasting pixelated zombies, but here we are. That said, the backgrounds start to blur together after a while, feels like I’ve robbed the same street ten times. Still, it’s a classic example of simple but addicting gameplay. blast to play, even if every street starts …

What a great platformer with NES retro-style! Kill zombies, enter abandoned houses to search for goods, upgrade your items and character, play with a friend... Dead Pixels has everything that a good game is made of. Even with simplistic graphics, the atmosphere in this game is quite effective. Every bit plays its part: the soundtrack, the zombies screaming, the rain, the empty streets... if you like the zombie …

Shocked I never reviewed this one, amazing time killer, especially for the price, seeing the screen shots still makes me feel the warm glow of my crappy toshiba laptop on my legs.

My son got this game for Christmas, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 24 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just, watching YouTube. So i decided to make a Steam account and get this game to see if I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is made from engine used in the games made in 1950s and was too mundane not just in long run but within 15 minutes of it. With the overpowering games at this time, you will ashamed and sorry for yourself but at the end, life is all about getting used to a certain amount of boredom. It looks like a first test subject of zombie-based games ever made with overall hart-attack inducing frightening zombies hordes , obviously my sarcasm is laudable but, to describe this game is to describe…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A nice little Zombie shooter , relaxing without much thinking.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Where it concerns the usual 'horde' of Zombie games that often plague the video game scene in what some consider to be an unfortunate blight of recent gaming trends, Dead Pixels is a retro-based Zombie Shooter RPG of sorts whose graphics look much alike from the 8-bit Megaman days of old where the goal, as always, is to escape from the chaos and carnage now destroying the city of Hexington NY from within. Indeed, this is a fairly laidback and simple game unlike something compared to the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great soundtrack. Great graphics. Great gameplay Is the game difficult? Yes, but what made me love him is the great variety he has in everything: guns items zombies etc. and its detailed scenery and incredible atmosphere that manages to leave a lot of tension The only annoying thing about it is that its multiplayer isn't online. But dead pixels 2, which is still in development, promises online multiplayer and I eagerly await this sequel I liked much this game and recommend you…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dead Pixels is a fantastic blast from the past, delivering a unique and exhilarating retro experience that fans of old-school arcade games will love! With its pixelated visuals and fast-paced gameplay, it captures the essence of classic arcade shooters while adding its own modern twists. The game’s blend of rogue-like elements and relentless action keeps you on your toes, as you battle through waves of zombies in a post-apocalyptic world. What sets Dead Pixels apart is its smooth progression…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of thos fun little games that can keep you busy for a day. Its fun to lear the mechanics little by little, looting goods, learning how to upgrade your arsenal and make your way throught the hordes of zombies. Good little fun to be fun, althought you can 100% it before you know it.

neutral · AI labelView post →This game is good but the sequel is way better so you should just play that instead. If you google the developers website you can find it and get both games in a two pack. Even though the sequel hasn't released yet and will probably never release, it's still pretty much a fully finished game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't say that this game was my favorite in its time, but still thanks to the replayability the runs were different
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun, and it has kept the 8-bit action and neo-1980s of the 2010s alive well into the 2020s! The art, AI, music, and action are all superb! All we want now is for the 16-bit sequel to keep the neo-1990s of the 2020s going! Thanks for all the years of fun!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When you play a sidescroller with a mouse cursor in the shape of a crosshair, you expect to be able to shoot where the cursor is. But for some reason in this game you can only shoot straight left or right, completely ignoring the vertical position of the cursor. Also, the game encourages you to run past enemies for at least half of each run. Where is the fun in that? And when you do enter combat, it's stiff and boring. Big nope from me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I originally played this game on the Xbox 360 when indie games were available on the 360 marketplace back in the day as a kid. And I honestly thought I would never be able to play it again, but to my absolute fortune I find its been archived and released on steam and I couldnt be happier with my expierence. Really addicting, satisfying mechanics and roguelike elements and eons of replayability all for a whopping 3 bucks couldnt be more of a steal. That being said however.. this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dead Pixels is a game that can be best described as a pixel side-scrolling gun shooting action adventure marathon. Every aspect of the game has been finely tuned to go hand and hand with each other whilst still standing on its own. All of these elements all work towards giving the player a fun and exciting experience. On the downside, many elements of the previous games appear to be missing. Such things as the slingshot and the golden eggs are completely missing from the game. The cast of…

Probably rendered entirely moot by the existence of the more recent Spider-Man games though. If you wanna do a Dead Pixels about that game I will replay it.

neutral · AI labelView post →pretty entertaining for about an hour
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I didn't like CloverPit at first but it grew on me the more I played it. It's more dependent on random chance than I'd ideally like (if you don't get the right items in the shop, you have no chance to win) but it's addictive. Dead Pixels 2 is just a nice, fun little arcade game
positive · AI labelView post →There are so many indie games that are dear to me! The Long Dark, March of The Living, The Organ Trail, Dead Pixels, Super Hexagon, Death Road to Canada, The Consuming Shadow, Receiver, The Last Stand (flash game series) and so on. I could go on and on! :D

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well worth the price of admission for some quick follies against the living dead impaired.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Side-scrolling shootem up with some fun names/references, costumed clerks (occasionally), and a fun way to spend a few hours. Easily worth the $3.00. I recommend an XBOX 360 controller for easier controls.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely a must play if you like indie games and a bit of a challenge. Simple yet good soundtrack. Lots and lots of zombies and formulate a strategy while dodging and eliminating them to make it out. Originally came out on XBOX 360 marketplace and I'm glad steam picked it up a year later otherwise it would of been forever lost.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pixels and zombies go great together! It was a fun couple of hours destroying zombies, you don't get much ammo so mastering melee was a win win situation. Has some interesting extra content to keep you playing through, not bad for a simple side-scroller.

Theme, gameplay, style, it's all there working in unison to make a thrilling crawl through the ruins of a zombified city that you may or may not escape Dont know if DP2 will ever be fully complete but it is worth checking out if you liked this one and want more
