What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 171 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (936 of 1,064 positive).
Players widely praise the game's beautiful art and smooth animations. [1][2][3] Many compare it favorably to Slay the Spire, calling it a top-tier clone. [4][5][6] Some reviewers note balance issues and unsatisfying runs. [7][8][9]

I think the game is well made and the art looks great. I would recommend waiting for a sale. The reason I don't recommend it is because I feel most of my runs have been pretty anaemic and unsatisfying: it's quite rare to get a synergistic build going before you bleed out and while there's some archetypes to aim for they don't mix well which means you can get stuck with a deck that's less than the sum of its parts. …

I don't know why this game doesn't get more visibility within the Rogue-like Deckbuilder niche... It clearly draws inspiration from and heavily clones Slay the Spire, but unlike 90% of the other clones, this game does it brilliantly. You get 4 different characters right from the start, each with unique decks and strategies to follow, as well as their own bosses and unique events along the way. The balancing makes …

Not a fan of deck builders or CCGs, but this one got me hooked. The art is awesome, and the animations are straight-up fire. Totally wanna cuddle up with Varvara under a cozy blanket.

Maybe an unfair comparison, but basically Russian Slay the Spire. There are a ton of copy cats of that game, this is by far the best one I've seen. All parts are well done. The art and sound are awesome. Balance is fair but hard.

60 of 179 · most liked firstThe art is nice, but the animations are crap, and when the game zooms in on your character every turn to give you an action cam of him lethargically bonking his shield on the ground 4 times in a row, you can't NOT notice it. The cards and relics, etc., are all incredibly "adequate" and nothing more. Rest of the game follows the same theme. Looks nice when it isn't moving, but in action it's boring. There's very little exciting or interesting here.

Difficulty progression being tied to each character is a bit of a slog, new…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Meh. Wildly unbalanced cards make building decks kinda boring, game pace is also pretty slow which pairs poorly with boring runs. Difficulty is also very uneven, requiring VERY strong deckbuilding, which due to unbalanced cards requires VERY particular decks to win, which brings us back to tedious runs trying to randomly roll the Good Cards(tm). Many poor gameplay decisions all around the game. Very good visuals and presentation though.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The art is beautiful, the animations is smooth, the turns are quick and satisfying! One of the few cons in this game is that some of the enemy animations, beautiful as they are, are a bit long, especially when you're fighting five mobs. This is a very minor issue. I wholeheartedly recommend this game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Devs really need to stop thinking that making their game impossible without the right card draws is good game design.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is super good, it reminds me of Slay the Spyre but it plays and looks much better. I hope more people will buy this game because I really want the developers to make more content for it or even a sequel.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Headline Already excellent potentially top-tier Slay-the-Spire like, with some very compelling and notable improvements over the classic Slay template, such as far more generous opportunities to build your deck and tableau. Visually beautiful and super slick playing deck-building turn-based card battler roguelite. Highlights? Gorgeous Visuals This is some of the most beautiful 2d art seen within a deckbuilding roguelite, and the animations are wonderfully slick and pretty BUT…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not worth the money. Game is very frustratingly hard and is extremely slow. Most characters are very underpowered and there's no sense of accomplishment in progression - after 8 hours of playtime, I find myself despising each playable character and fight more and more. Only worth it if you find it on sale for $0.99. Otherwise, just go play STS,
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great animations and good hero variety. Another great roguelike deckbuilder alongside the likes of STS, Monster Train, Across the Obelisk, Vault of the Void, and Roguebook. (I like to let people know of other greats in case they're not aware.)

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Higher difficulties suck - require balance patch IMO to be worthwhile pursuing. RNG often gets in the way of setting up broken combos - the pieces of exodia rarely come together, leaving junk in your deck - enemy damage scaling kill your runs pretty quick on the higher tiers, leaving a pretty sour taste in your mouth after sinking 1.5+ hours into a run. Normal difficulty was fun - don't go higher unless you're a sucker for punishment and having your precious gaming time wasted. Animations…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like Roguelike deckbuilders, you probably also like this one. Obviously with just shy of 7 hours of game time, I have not experienced the later difficulties and how they scale the difficulty, so I can't say whether it's done well or not. But what I can say is that the 7 hours I've played has been fun and not repetitive at all, and I have not yet even played all 4 of the heroes, let alone unlock all the cards. So it's probably safe to say that even with the price tag of around 20…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Slay the spire on steroids. Insane 2D art, Can't wait for the full release.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like Card Battle games, if you like Slay the Spire, you definitely should give this a try. The art is beautiful, the animations are very well done, the game addictive. Bear in mind this is not the full release, so there are some balance issues to be tackled, but I am confident the Devs are working on it. I hope to see this game expand over time, as I want to play even more of it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A wonderful game with great visuals and captivating gameplay. Even though I'm not a fan of such genre, Deathless manages to entertain you without making your head explode from memorizing various combinations and/or understanding complex mechanics. It's a nice deck-builder that lets you rest after a hard day's work or on the weekend. Also, it's always pleasant to see beautiful representation of Slavic folklore. The music is nice too.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's WAY too expensive. Not sure why I bought this game; I guess the pretty art reeled me in. It's very short, and it doesn't have difficulty modes. They said they were adding difficulty modes, but they LIED TO US! THEY ARE NOT DIFFICULTY MODES! So now it gets a negative response. It took me less than 25 hours to beat this game with all that it has currently and no reason to play more. Don't waste your money on this crap! If I could refund it, I would.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The art style and quality are fantastic. The writing is abysmal and the story as generic as it can get. But the main reason I don't recommend is that for a roguelike deckbuilder it has surprisingly little variability and replayability. The four different heroes/classes are definitely unique from each other, but within each one there isn't really anything to it. No interesting cards, no crazy combos, no deep synergies. After I've played two of the heroes for a bit I realized there is no way I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great visuals with questionable gameplay mechanics and end-game boss requirements. Heros are distinguishably different and interesting, some more difficult than others, but all they have one thing in common - without a proper setup you won't finish a run by beating the end-game boss. The game's a copy of Slay the Spyre with innovations and changes, but this one feels slightly less forgiving if you do not randomly find good cards and trinkets for a setup which would allow you to beat the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game looks amazing, the animations are smooth, although i wish there were more of them. Music adds to atmosphere. I'm not a big fan of card gameplay, but the game works well on Steam Deck so it can brighten up travel time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game looks very nice and I particularly like the design of the monsters. I know it's a work in progress, but I wish the rest was already just as great as the overall graphics. While the game is playable in it's current stage of development, I think it still needs quite a bit of work to actually challenge some of the other deck builders out there. There are some mechanics and even monsters that resemble quite a bit of those seen in Slay the Spire, which is alright. And there are original…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →✅ Great roguelike deckbuilder (similar to Slay the Spire) ✅ 4 playable heroes with different playstyle ✅ Artsyle looks pretty good ✅ Highly replayable ❌ Constant cards were kinda boring as you couldn't take advantage of the buffs ❌ Attack animations needed more work ❌ Dying mechanic felt terrible
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a Slay the Spire clone that barely stands out and has a worse gameplay loop that feels very unrewarding. The fun factor just wasn't there for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game looks quite nice but the the card design is in shambles. Most card rewards are close to sidegrades to the starting cards. I find myself picking the gold reward 90 % of the time. But it doesn't seem to matter because the relics help you fly through the game without taking almost any damage. And no I didn't pick the easy mode. Maybe it gets harder further down the road but the lack of excitement makes me hover the quit button. Someone called this game anemic, which is a spot on…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really wish there was a middle option. Picked this up on sale, still overpriced for what it is. Beautiful graphics and setting, although the story might as well not exist. Quite janky and some bugs but not too bad. Some seeming translation issues that make the mechanics unintuitive. Unbalanced characters, some cards are just bad and its often tough to build enough synergy in a deck. Difficulty spikes along the way. In its current state I wouldn't recommend this game, even as a poor man's…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic deck builder that brings a lot of new ideas to a well-defined genre. Can stand up there with the other greats. Well polished, great art, music and animations. Highly recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very cool visual, nice picture, beautiful and diverse monsters, their animation is very pleasant. Music with a Slavic flavor. There is a lack of voice acting of the main characters. There are also not enough character leveling elements (your army or base). I rate the game at 9 out of 10. p.s. the main characters of the game are girls from fairy tales, they are very beautiful!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Final Boss auto-kill attack is beyond dumb. Don't waste my time! Uninstall.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent Deck Builder for the price. Would recommend if you want to scratch the STS itch. PROS: each run has enough variation to make them interesting enough with different cards and artifact buffs decent variety of cards for each character Nice graphics, decent Bosses Pretty challenging on hard without having to really add modifiers Cons: Characters aren't really balanced, the Knight and the Guy with the gun are way OP while the whip girl and sorceress kinda suck No deck build varieties for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Verdict: Pretty good roguelike deckbuilder that mixes Slay the Spire elements with Darkest Dungeon shuffle mechanics. It has a lot of interesting ideas so I have no issue recommending it. + Positives + + Steam achievements (69, a lot of playthroughs) + Steam trading cards (3 drop, 6 to make a badge) + Characters feel very different + Modifiers for your runs + About 75 cards for each hero + 43 universal ones + 154 relics + 46 regular enemies + 9 normal bosses, 4 legendary bosses and 1 game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You unlock useless skills as you progress. Your stats never change when you level up. You NEVER get stronger. The only way to beat higher level of difficulty is to get perfect combinations of locations and perfect card and relic drops. Monsters get stronger but your skills, your cards and relics are always the same. You can upgrade cards once. It's not a big upgrade. It's just dumb. I don't remember any updates but now the game is suddenly impossible on all stages. Mobs all hit for 5-30 damage,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do you like beautiful deck building, roguelite, strategy games? Do you think you might be into it? Have you played games like Slay the Spire, Spellrogue, and Roguebook hoping for another game to satisfy that itch? Dare I say this is exactly what you're looking for. This does a lot of what those amazing games do and some of it...even better? Yeah I'm a huge fan of this if you couldn't tell. As much as I hate comparing games, I think it gives you, the buyer, a little bit of insight as to where…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So far my 3rd favorite card-builder on Steam.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Since I've spent more time on it than most of the reviewers, I think it's fair that I leave a review. It's a great game if you like slay the spire/choose your own adventure style games. The art/graphics is really good. Animation is also good. And it has widescreen support. Gameplay wise, all the heroes are very diverse and fun to play. It has some lore/storyline which adds some purpose to the grind. It shares a lot of similarities with Slay the spire but in a good way. It also has enough…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite simply the best Slay-the-Spire-alike currently available. The beautiful Bilibin-inspired art and animation will draw you in, the compelling mechanics, character variety, and increasing challenge will keep you glued to your screen past bedtime.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's ok game with interesting takes and unique mechanics. Unfortunately just not for me, none of the character or abilities looked interesting to me.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have played it! Deathless is a 10/10 deckbuilder. It looks and sounds great. The gameplay is short and strategic, as it should be! If you enjoyed StS, Monster Train and other similar games, I do recommend testing this out.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Top-Tier Animations, High-Stakes Runs." As someone who has played hundreds of roguelike deck-builders over the years, I don’t say this lightly—Deathless: The Hero Quest is the closest game to Slay the Spire that matches its quality. From its challenging encounters to its deep replayability, this is a game that knows exactly what kind of itch it’s trying to scratch, and it does so with confidence. Yes, my one minor criticism is that it isn’t wholly original. You’ll see familiar mechanics,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Addicting game to say the least, tickles my roguelike needs in the right way. Beautiful art style, love the monsters design (little lobster on the shoulder of a bloated corpse, that is checking up on it when you defeat it - adorable and creepy at the same time). Cool little stories in bestiary, I've enjoyed reading them a lot. Gameplay loop is satisfying, specially when you get a grip of some heroes and find the right build to slay stuff. Overall great addition in my deck games collection.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a big part that held me back from enjoying it was the lack of ultrawide, after asking nicely they decided to add it and it makes the experience so much better. gorgeous game with an amazing artstyle and pretty deep mechanics is worth it for me.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A decent and engaging card game that can keep you hooked for long evenings… a well-made Slay the Spire clone. The artwork is gorgeous, and the Old Rus setting is very appealing. Of course, in games like this, the setting is usually just a formality, but it’s still worth mentioning. The concept remains the same: there's a path, branching choices, and different rewards and challenges based on your decisions. I wouldn’t say I’ve fully explored all the heroes, but I liked Alyosha the most—his card…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I picked this up on a recent sale and on first glance, one might think, this is just horizontal Slay the Spire with a Witcher overlay... and you would not be completely wrong! BUT! Don't wander away yet! I would dare say the class mechanics are a bit deeper (at time of writing I have only played 3 of the 4 classes) and the lore! The glorious, glorious lore (my hunch would be Slavic based) about the mobs and the characters. The story mode for each character I have played will definitely keep…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Low IQ predetermined card drop that too good for save scamming bosses with 'Less efficent you play more lucky you get' motto Example: Boss (55HP) with 3 minions (15 HP each) which can be almost killed with one shot if you buff attack and then skip first turn. Then you get buffed double take next turn If you use anything else besides buff 100% you won't get double attack in this match and will stuck in endless loop of enemy regening HP and armor
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Had a very solid first impression, but unfortunately that turned sour the more I got into the meat of the game. Solid deckbuilder but hindered by it's mechanics. Blocking attacks with dead bodies while allowing enemies to infinitely buff is definitely a choice. Kinda killed my fun of the game tho when that became the only friction for elite and boss battles. Just sitting in the back spamming strength while you wait for dead enemies to despawn/move. I don't want to leave a thumbs down,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →store.steampowered.com/app/2727210/... Hey all! I'm working on my review for the Switch version of Deathless. The Hero Quest! But it's also on sale on Steam this weekend. It's a deckbuilder with lots of interesting little details and depth. I feel like this is worth it at this price.
positive · AI labelView post →I didn't expect to put that many hours into this game. I had 30h in one month. For anyone who's looking for a good roguelite deckbuilder - you should check it out (it has demo too). Basically, it's a Slay the Spire -like in a fantasy Slavic setting (think Witcher, but not grim). I absolutely love the clean art style and the UI. One reason why I couldn't get into Slay the Spire was its visuals and especially the lack of animations. Deathless is so much more pleasant in that regard. As I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Derivative. Does nothing worth your time or money. There's simply too much quality out there these days to play yet another Slay the Spire reskin.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Corrupted Sorcerer is badly designed and the devs should feel bad. If you can't infinitely scale like he can you lose. Ironically the most fun character to play is the first one they let you. Runs are not that different because there's so few enemies. Writing is abysmal. Not enough meat on the bone and balance is poor. There's no really powerful cards to play with. As another review said, all cards are side grades to the starting cards. They don't really offer new strategies or…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just a solid and polished deck builder. No complaints, and worth the $$$. Just enough challenge that you are going to lose, but also... totally possible to win on your first try. Good balance, good art, animations... just solid.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great! Pros: Great art engaging card fighting nice rogue-like game format Nice variety of hero powers and decks Cons: Gets tedious around the third hero. No bonuses for harder modes
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an okay game, but unfortunately, I haven't really found a reason why I would play this instead of Slay the Spire.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't recommend it in its current state. I'd be willing to repurchase once it's out of EA to see if they have modified things. My main complaint, to echo another reviewer, is that there isn't enough variation in the cards (even those you unlock) to really feel like each run can have a unique strategy with fun combos. This is exacerbated by a severe lack of options for deck management, particularly to remove cards. I know many games in this genre don't allow for the removal of too many…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty good for v0.1. Waiting for updates!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great art, beautiful girls, manly guys. Lore is massive and interesting. Gameplay if fun,
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing. Visually, aesthetically, and thematically this is the best card game I've ever played by a very wide margin. The animations are second to none, especially if you're running this at 120fps. Good lord why can't more games look like this? Every enemy has tons of lore attached to them and I LOVE THAT. Music sounds like GWENT, which I like. As far as the mechanics go, they are solid and even bring some pretty creative new things to the genre. I like the idea of being able to steal enemies…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've enjoyed visuals and deck mechanics. All four heroes have totally different play styles which kept me entertained all the way up until the end. This is a good game for lazy leisure time. Would be great to have more unique card attacks/effects animations. :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game did leave me scratching my head. It didn't leave a bad taste in my mouth - the point is I kind of was expecting more from it and it left an impression of "overpromising and underdelivering". Strengths: + Lore and idea is simply superb, the atmosphere is truly magical - 10/10 + art - game devs, give your designers a proper raise, they do deserve it, the artwork is simply stunning - 10/10 Meeeh: - The story. Gosh, this game and its story had all the potential of becoming the next…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm going to play this because I have nothing else to do, but for $25, you are dealing with a less-exhilarating roguelike deckbuilder game. There aren't really any satisfying builds. By the time you get something neat going, you win. The game feels slow even at 1.5x speed. I can't really say the price justifies the content. When you level up a character, you can unlock 3 cards. How did this game manage to make the card choices so...boring and lackluster? I would not recommend this at the…
