What people are saying
A classic trilogy with a dud, but DMC3 is peak.
Players praise DMC3 as the best of the trilogy, calling it "peak" and absolute cinema. DMC1 is seen as a solid but dated classic, while DMC2 is widely criticized as boring and skippable. [7][8][17]
Some players note technical issues like no cloud saves and poor keyboard support, but overall the collection is considered great value. Many recommend skipping DMC2 entirely. [13][27][35]

neutral · AI labelView post →DMC 1 : A classic. Good but definitely not what I'd start with tbh since it's quite old and can sometimes feel and look its age but is worth playing for sure despite some frustrations. DMC 2 : BAD*. The game has a few boss fights that are good and a few good arenas and ideas; the majority of the game is unfortunately not that great though. Enemies that are mini bosses appear frequently and even some DMC 1 bosses are reused. Dante has like 3 voice lines in the entire game, though he does get…

neutral · AI labelView post →Great games, awful PC ports. Audio constantly goes out of sync in cutscenes, game goes slow mo when text is on screen, loads of textures are opaque instead of transparent like intended. If you want to play DMC3 just get the switch version or get this collection on console. This port is beyond horrid and I cannot believe that Capcom is selling this for actual money.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Grandfather of hack and slash. I love fast paced combat, and the genre overall. There are way too many good H&S games out there, but DMC3 is still one of the best in the genre. That game has everything: amazing combat, atmosphere, challenging gameplay just a must play experience. On PS + PC, I have 500+ hours just in DMC3. (2 is easily the WORST game in this collection. I beat it once a long time ago, but that was enough. I don't think I've even played 2 on steam lol.)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent value when on sale but leaving a negative review because they DISABLED cloud saves for no reason (the GOG version still has them) and the game doesn't have proper Steam Deck support, requiring a custom version of Proton. Very unfortunate for such an important series, how are there Switch ports but no Deck support
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the games are amazing, but if youre playing purely for the story and gameplay, dont even bother playing devil may cry 2
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DMC1, despite its age, still holds up as a really fun hack-and-slash, even though it pioneered the whole genre. The story and Dante's characterization leaves a bit to be desired, but I can forgive that because of how purely fun it is to go through levels and take advantage of its simple, yet satisfying combat system. DMC3 is definitely in my list of top favourite games of all time now. There's not many other games I could say have combat and bosses as fun and "stylish" as this game. Any…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DMC1 was fun. The gameplay is dated but it isn't terrible and the atmosphere is great! The story was decent and cheesy. DMC2 is boring as hell. It's super easy and the acting is of the same quality as a wet fart. It had one of the stories of all time DMC3 was amazing. The gameplay was satisfying and the game wasn't easy or too hard. The story and boss fights were superb.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're using this for DMC3 I'd highly recommend looking up "DEVIL MAY CRY 3: CRIMSON" it's basically a all in one mod that is very easy to install and run, it allows for a far more robust playing experience, such as: - Style switching (All Styles) - Weapon switching (All weapons/Guns) - Character switching (Mainly Dante & Vergil) - Options for different textures (ps2 aka the best IMO, HD collection or Nintendo Switch) - More moves + Inertia + Better reversals + Better cancelling + Deep…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First time playing the Devil May Cry game and i loved it , overall the HD Collection was a great experience and i didn't have any issues while playing. DMC 1 - It All Starts Here Pros: - Challenging - Nice Graphics thanks to the High Definition - Good Story Cons: - The Camera angles DMC 2 - Side Story Pros: - Overall better visual Graphics and Dante with more detail - Much Better Camera angles - The additional of a second playable character Lucia - was fun playing it. - Better Story Line…

neutral · AI labelView post →Where is my DMC6, Capcom!? It's been 7 years since DMC5. Dante is still eating pizza, Vergil is still motivated, and I'm still waiting. At this point, "Devil May Cry 6" feels more mythical than Sparda himself. 10/10 game, but please Capcom... let me die with DMC6 in my library.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I missed out on playing these way back in the day. I never had any interest until recently. This collection is barebones and very, very buggy, so my experience was harmed a bit by it. I also played with keyboard because I am nothing if not a glutton for misery. Lots and lots of bugs that made certain keys only barely functional. DMC 1: Pleasantly surprised by how well the game holds up. First game in a long while to kick my ass. Fantastic enemy lineup and some decent bosses (barring the final…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DMC 1 – Aged poorly, but it’s still a great hack and slash. However, it has very dated graphics, a terrible HD port, and an awful camera. DMC 2 – Don’t play it. DMC 3 – The best of the trilogy. In my opinion, the best DMC overall. Great, fluid gameplay with multiple styles, well-balanced difficulty, very charismatic characters, a good story, and graphics that were really good for their time. Highly recommended to everyone.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DMC 1 - Was pretty good but hard and not because of the combat but because of the bad camera positioning in smaller rooms and few gimmick bosses, also didnt really like the idea of fighting some of the bosses in three different encounters, makes it bit boring except Nelo Angelo, he gets a pass I could fight him in bed too if he just asked. Also underwater missions were pretty bad due to movement, everything else was good, definetly had fun DMC 2 - Least favorite of all three but only because…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DMC 1., the game was recommended for years, memes were everywhere too. so I played it. I had a blast, probably one of the best games i played ion a while, and I don't usual enjoy this type of game. the combat was fun and challenging at times, especially the Mundus fight at the end. the platforming is straight out of hell, the game seems to randomly decide if you make the jump or smack Dante's skull against the edge of the platform. the level design was very atmospheric and the bosses where well…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I haven't played these games in a while, but I forgot to give a review so I'm gonna give a short one now. I'm not a fan of fighting or "combo-mashing" games most of the time, but, like the Yakuza series, DMC makes it very easy for a casual like me to get into it! DMC1: Aged pretty well! At first I thought the PS1 fixed camera angles were gonna be a problem, but they weren't in the slightest. The first boss (Phantom) is an absolute PAIN tho. All the other bosses I had a smooth time with, but he…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Devil May Cry HD Collection delivers all the great content of the original Devil May Cry games with improved graphics. You’ll get hours of demon-slaying fun playing as Dante, except for DMC2 which is a terrible game compared to DMC1 and DMC3. The HD Collection is the best way to enjoy the DMC trilogy, the camera is the only consistent annoyance and was kind of frustrating in specific areas in my opinion, but that doesn't mean it's not worth playing at least once. A satisfying experience with…

DMC and DMC3 is my favorite in franchise before. - GREAT COMBO (SSS TO B) - TOTAL RANKING (SS TO A) - I CAN ALMOST BROKE THE CONTROLLER XD - MY FAVORITE PROTAGONIST IS DANTE (cool) so in the dmc hd collection. I already fully mission them lol... and i hate DMC2 so many bugs. IM NOT ON FANON... IM ON CANON.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I deffinitely recomend playing in the release order. DMC 1 is good but shows its age a lot. Camera angles makes you want to kill yourself. So if you start with the better game DMC3, DMC1 could feel unberable. I passed DMC2 because everyone calls it ♥♥♥♥. DMC3 is the best thing you are getting out of this collection. Combat is significantly better than DMC1. Everything looks cool, Feels cool. My only problem with DMC3 is the yellow/gold mode system. I have completed the DMC3 in yellow mode…

I mean yea ♥♥♥♥♥♥ duh, it's DMC 1, 3 and useless SSD data...of course its great! but it deletes your save data when you uninstall, no cloud or anything. which would be fine if it was at least expressed openly. kind of a huge bummer when you're on a DMC kick, and you wanna go play 3....and its like, sorry bro, start from scratch!...which again on the face of it, isnt exactly the worse thing in the world, but DMC3 is a pretty damn unforgiving game, I think a lot of people…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As of the time of this review I have beaten DMC 1, DMC 2 as both Dante and Lucia and am currently on mission 15 as Dante in DMC 3. I must say that this game is some of the most fun i've had in a hack and slash in ages if you are a fan of the genre in anyway i recommend picking this game up. Obviously there are gonna be kinks and jank, some of these games are over 20 years old after all, but i would still say to pick them up regardless.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →These are great versions of these games and I like the port, but we've gotta get proper Steam Cloud support going, man, come on. GOG has it and Steam USED to have it before they took it away, so bring it back and then this will be perfect.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DMC 2 is awful, skip it. The others are timeless. I didn't play them back in the day and still very much enjoy them
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Devil May Cry 2 has: - Blasted my eardrums with over 100db's - Processed my trauma - Made me Phisically Ill and Gag - Gave me a major depressive episode. - Played my screensaver in the middle of the most climactic cutscene, bricking the game forcing me to restart. - AND THEN FINALLY, GIVE ME A C- FINAL BOSS TO FINISH OFF THE GAME AND SUPRISE ME BECAUSE MY BAR WAS SET SO LOW! 10 / 10 Do not play dmc2 Dmc 1 and 3 are good tho
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I never got a chance to play these games when I was a kid, and man, I really missed out. These games capture everything that made the early 2000s so awesome. I enjoyed every single one of them, although I do have some things to say about the second one. Besides that, these games are really great, and I totally recommend giving them a try.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Devil May Cry 1 is tremendously underrated. Going into it, I got a very different experience than what I was expecting but I enjoyed my playthrough throughout the entire course of the game. It's also the only game in this trilogy where I felt like every single weapon I received while progressing through the game was better than the last. I really like some of the boss fights in this game. Particularly of note, the aura farming Nelo Angelo and his fights might be my favorite in the whole series…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the quality of DMC1 / DMC3 here alone make up for the two major shortcomings of this collection, which is DMC2 being extremely mediocre and the games having a lot of really rough graphical oddities in this specific remaster.
