Divinity: Original Sin 2 is the only game where a perfectly normal plan turns into: teleport enemy → oil everywhere → fire everywhere → entire party dying → reload save. BG3 was my first Larian game, so I went into this expecting something less complete or polished. Turns out I was completely wrong, I actually like this one more. It’s darker, more gory and nothing feels missing compared to BG3. The story, systems and overall design are all top tier. Can't believe I missed out on Divinity games all these years.

87% of the 271 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition. The complaint that keeps coming up: difficulty can be frustrating, especially on higher settings. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

Critics, per Wikipedia

Divinity: Original Sin II received "universal acclaim", according to review aggregator website Metacritic. Multiple critics and publications considered the game to be one of the best role-playing games (RPGs) of all time. Rick Lane of Eurogamer considered it a "masterpiece," thinking it would be many years before he could play another RPG that was even close to being "that rich with choice and charisma". Adam Smith of Rock, Paper, Shotgun thought that few games allowed players to take part in better tales than Original Sin II. Leif Johnson of IGN highly praised the stories, quests, tactical combat, and replayability, calling it one of the all-time greats of the RPG genre. GameSpot gave it a…

Divinity going into early access is going to be a real shitshow because they're annoyed by the feedback about not wanting GenAI in the game now, 2 hours after the bloomberg interview, just wait until they have to sift through thousands of pages of feedback about taking it out.

A word of advice about difficulty level: This game is a lot harder than BG3. Do not do Tactician unless you are the type of person who likes to pick up everything, obsessively upgrade your gear, optimize TF out of your builds, ruthlessly farm XP, and carefully position your units for every fight. And even then, don't do it unless you, like me, enjoy pain and suffering. I think where people are most likely to have a bad time with this game is if they are too proud to play on Classic or even…

Yes BUT (and this is going to be a rant): If you're new to this kind of game like I am, throw away your pride and start the game on either Story or Explorer mode. The Classic difficulty is what is described as "normal" difficulty but unless you know every way to break the game it's going to be frustratingly difficult, on every encounter, all the time. It can be the lowest point of the game and entirely stop you from enjoying the game. Get used to seeing one person standing around and then…

"No great genius has ever existed without a touch of madness." – Aristotle Divinity Original Sin 2 is easily one of the best RPGs I’ve ever played. It truly encourages you to break its systems, experiment, and even cheese encounters from time to time not because it’s poorly designed, but because it’s intentionally creative and free flowing in how its mechanics interact. The game constantly rewards clever thinking. The fact that you can kill story important NPCs and still have the narrative…

Honestly this is a well made game despite the gimmic fights. Its just not for me. Its for the player who loves punishing combat strategy puzzles and puzzles with little or no clues. I just want a game with a cool story, cool fights and shiney loot. I did learn one thing above the rest tho and that is when it comes to cRPG games, do some research before buying. I might finnish this game, but ill prolly look for a mod that lets me skip gimmic fights , i really dont like having to bake a cake…

It only took me like 9 years, but I was finally able to escape Fort Joy. Attaining divinity afterwards was actually a walk in the park in comparison! Gosh, this is one of the greatest RPGs ever made. Period.

One of the best RPGs ever made, deep systems, incredible characters, and endless room for creativity. A masterpiece of modern role-playing.

This is, with out any doubt whatsoever, one of the best games of all time. There is no "ai slop". There is only hard work, vision, creativity, and love put into this game. My console hours are not recorded here, but its well over 500 hours easily. As far as tactical rpgs go this rivals baldurs gate 3 for different reasons. The characters are very awesome and loveable. The environmental combat is unique. This game kicks all sorts of ass and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves tactical…
