TLDR: Do Not Feed the Developers. General Thoughts/Overview: Aww :-( I’ve been really looking forward to playing this, as I really, really, enjoyed the first. Sadly it’s a shadow of its predecessor. Simple in nature, in Do Not Feed the Monkey’s (DFM) you watch CCTV footage captured from hacked cameras. The OG posed interesting questions on action or inaction, and the extent to which you could, or should. This 2099 …

The first Do Not Feed the Monkeys felt so sleazy and dirty and it nailed the atmosphere so, so well, I actually felt I was doing something I shouldn't when playing it, kinda like when you're 10 or whatever and looked up "naked people photos" on google images out of curiosity when your parents weren't around. 2099 has absolutely none of that. I still prefer the first one, honestly. This sequel isn’t bad, but it’s missing that special something that made the original so great. It’s kind of hard to explain. I'll be honest: when I learned about a sequel to "Do Not Feed The Monkeys", I was deeply skeptical. The original had become one of my favorite video games of all time for its unique premise, naturalistic dialogue, and simply spectacular pixel art, and I feared a sequel would lose what made the first game incredible in a desperate effort to recapture the lightning in a bottle. I now look back on my doubts and laugh …

It's a fun game but not as good as the first one, not as re-playable either. I think the game needs more content. The endings are a bit hard to follow too.

This game compared to the first feels like a ripoff. This game has none of the originality that was the first. I understand that this is supposed to be harder than the first, however the game play is ruined for returning players and new. Do not recommend. Bad.

The first Do Not Feed the Monkeys was very unique and innovative. The sequel is almost literally the same game, but one key factor that made the first game awesome fell apart when this sequel introduced a new setting: a sci-fi futuristic cyberpunk world. Because of the new setting, the narrative formula in the first game does not work well anymore. In the first game, many crazy story arcs came with a bunch of ridiculous moments, so they never stop surprising and amazing players. This time in…

Worse than the previous game by far, would not recommend. Stories are grindy and boring, it feels like the game creators tried to make the game more unique and instead made it cornier and more mundane. Clues get you very little when searched compared with the previous game and it feels like you rely more on luck to match clues and progress, rather than common sense or deduction.

Disappointment. First game was a blast and after I finished it I just prayed for the sequel. But this one feels more like a demo or early access. There are very few cages that will often repeat every playthrough and the clues are not as fun to search like in previous game. You just end up playing the game over and over again, getting bored and waiting for something different to happen. I just wish they put at least the same effort and love to making this game like to the one before.

To really put a pin on why this game failed is that it's a worse version of the first Do Not Feed the Monkeys. The more grounded setting of the original makes it easier to pick up the situations, to do the detective work, and find the routes with the scenarios. As well, the more wild scenarios stood out in the more ordinary environment, 2099's setting shift just made it much harder to read scenarios and makes you just want to pick up a guide. If you haven't played the first game, do that, it's…

The exact same thing as the first game, but in a futuristic-space setting. The same issues: The first few games were great, but when you start getting the same stories over and over and since you can only get a few variations in some of them, it gets repetitive really easy. I will say that the humor is good and that the resource management between not starving and stalking random people was fun. The main problem is the fact that missing events is quite common and just watching the cams…

I don't normally write reviews based on just glitches, but Mac cage glitch (cage views are glitched out completely) discovered in May 2023 is still not fixed. It's literally unplayable without the cage screens, so I'm curious why the bug isn't being addressed with some urgency. I'm not sure if the fix is even coming at this point, when the discussion of new DLCs came out before the base game could be ironed out.

I'm sadly, disappointed in this one. I wanted to like it, as the original was SO SO good. I was SO looking forward to this expansion thinking it would be just as expansive as the original, but honestly, this would have been better off being a DLC. It doesn't feel like a full game. You get the same cages every time and after a point it feels insanely grueling in ways the 1st one didn't. Unless they update to include more cages/stories, I am gonna give this one a thumbs down. TLDR: Just replay…

The original was much, much better to me? I don't know why. The UI is worse, the game is 100% copy-pasted (which was disappointing), but the stories/writing are much worse than the original, so it's kind of boring. The clue-connections don't make as much sense, there's more random-guessing, the vibes are off, and the characters/mysteries simply aren't as interesting. I ended up confused and saying "what? wtf?" to myself a bunch of times, unlike in the original game. I'll still play more and try…

unlike the first game most parts are just waiting for something to happen you lookup 2 things get a couple words then stare at a cage for a day waiting for something new to happen the first game felt more unexpected and thought out with the storys this game is pretty predictable also you start on easy mode and need to beat the game to get hard mode? felt kinda like a waste of time.

Seems like a promising sequel to the original, it is just a shame that I'm encountering a few bugs with it so cannot play much! I've had to reset my day 3 times already. Will probably not continue with the game until bugs are fixed, and would be happy to edit my review based on my experiences afterward.

Pretty enjoyable like the first game, but that's only because the concept is fun. Not a huge fan of the futuristic setting. What made the first game even more enjoyable was the modern day setting, seeing scenarios that could realistically happen. I've gone back to the first a couple times, and I would recommend that one more than this one.

Just want to mention most of the cages aren't interactable so you spend most of the gameplay sitting and doing absolutely nothing and the managment of resources such as the food or sleep are really unmanagable due to not getting enough to substain yourself. The "monkeys" talk too much and give you very little clickable stuff to work on. This is just a disaster of a sequel I would rather have this as a DLC rather than a full new game with very little no substance to even be fun.

DNFTM 2099 is a time management game where you have to find time to work for money, dissect what's going on in all of your cages, and still keep your needs met and the club happy, with a bit of dark humor on the side. The concept of this game is exactly the same as the first, so if you enjoyed the original this one is more of the same and you'll prolly get a good amount of fun out of it. If you didn't like the first game, you definitely won't like this one. I agree with a lot of others that…

It's just the first game, but with a futeristic aesthetic. If you like the first game you'll like this. If you don't, you won't. If you haven't played the first game, you might like this. The gameplay loop is watching security cameras and finding information. You can use that information to affect what happens to the people on the camera, for example you can help a lost family get to their destination or you can make them die by flying into a dangerous area.

I honestly can't recomend this game. It's a puzzle game first and foremost where the ways to get the answers to the puzzles are honestly random combinations in a way that reminds me of the 2010 point and click where you try every tool on every item to see what progresses. Unfortunately a couple of these are timed and the game still progresses while you try to combine every word you've collected to try to find the one search that progresses you. Due to there being multiple endings on each…

I was excited to learn there would be a sequel and I have to say, it has not lived up to my expectations as it is in this moment. This game seems more graphics dense than the last one and causes my laptop to overheat, it's constantly freezing because of some unfixed technical errors, and because the game takes place in some made up alien future I can't intuit some…

Perhaps weird, but this game (and the first but this one even more so) is really good for working on other tasks. Whenever I'm feeling bad creative block, I load up this game on my computer and then have my laptop open to draw or write, and I'm able to make a lot of progress compared to when I'm trying to focus solely on drawing or writing. It's still a fantastic game even when just playing and not also working on something! But it's also really great for productivity in the real world, too.

I'm going to give this game a positive rating because ultimately I still enjoyed the game despite some faults and a very rocky start. I had to spend about 30 minutes troubleshooting the game because I wasn't getting audio when I ran it. The game lets you fast forward now, thank goodness... I will admit this one is not nearly as good as the first, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. And personally, as someone who struggled a bit balancing the hunger, sleep, and money aspect of the games, this one having an easier option with no penalty to achievements was a nice touch! It's much harder to maintain money in this one, at least for me, so having no penalization on that mode helped a ton.

A great game spoiled by one minor detail: Let me explain DNFtM is a game about watching security cameras, aka "Cages". The concept and content are great. But there are so many Cages, that it gets overwhelming. So there is a helper feature, a motion detector. A light under each screen button flashes when it detects something happening there, as well as an audio Cue, so you can switch to there and see what's going on. In theory, this should alert you to when things have changed, or there's…

I have mixed feelings on this. One one hand, it's a funny (and fun) game that doesn't last too long per playthrough, with some rather amusing moments. The characters you are observing are hilarious, and if you choose to text or call them it leads to some pretty funny and chaotic scenarios. On the other hand, though, the resource management gets pretty tedious at times. But for me it's a 7/10, and if you really liked the gameplay of the first game, you should give this one a chance too.

The first Do Not Feed the Monkeys is literally amazing and hard to beat, and this game didn't live up to those standards but it definitely did deliver

The game has had a drastic change compared to the first release. It's no longer straight forward and exciting. Instead, you're expected to sit through these repetitive stories in hopes of getting some kind of lead. I don't have the patience to sit through these cages grinding my time away trying to get some kind of drastic clue. I would give this a 5/10. It enjoyable enough and replayable. For many of the cages the things you need to search for are not intuitive at all. The sci-fi stuff makes it confusing. I'm searching each word and all combinations of the words just to find *something* new but often get nothing. In some of the cages the active times last too long with too little new information coming from it (the phone call ones are the worst), and the active times often overlap. I thought the original game had…
