60 of 246 · most liked first10 years ago today, the world premiere of DOCTOR STRANGE. What a wild ass night that was. Movie played like gangbusters, met Stan Lee for the first time, my first HUGE red carpet. Drank with Jess and friends until dawn. Definitely one of the best nights of my life.
positive · AI labelView post →When Scott and I set out to make DOCTOR STRANGE Kevin and Lou told us just to make a great movie and they would figure out how to fit it into the MCU. FANTASTIC FOUR is a return to that ethos. It’s just a great fucking Fantastic Four movie. It’s everything I’ve always wanted from one. Just perfect.
neutral · AI labelView post →Duncan has been working on this FOR-EVER. For context, I was brought in to work on it while Scott was developing DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS. That's how long he's been making this. It is truly a handmade movie made entirely from blood, sweat, and tears. Very, very excited for it.
neutral · AI labelView post →Alright fuck it, we're rolling from WandaVision right into Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness! I like this movie! Haven't seen it since it was in theaters tho, and it helps refresh my memory on this corner of the MCU in time for VisionQuest. Let's see what I find to yap about!
positive · AI labelView post →Until 2022, "BLONDIE & DAGWOOD" (bottom right) was the comics IP with the record for inspiring the most (AND most single-continuity!) feature film adaptations, 28 in total from 1938-1950 mostly featuring the same cast. Only the MCU finally surpassed it as of "Doctor Strange 2."
neutral · AI labelView post →I wrote on @boingboing.bsky.social about my all-time favorite movie (which actually never even came close to being made). Doctor Strange (2009): Guillermo del Toro, director; Neil Gaiman, screenplay cc. @realgdt.bsky.social @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com
neutral · AI labelView post →WELL to be fair maybe the last Doctor Strange movie beat both of those things to it. Sorry to Sam Raimi, but I hated that.
negative · AI labelView post →Never noticed this at the end of the credits in the first DOCTOR STRANGE movie. It’s funny if you’ve seen it.
neutral · AI labelView post →Also, Doctor Mordrid kinda owns. If you’ve ever wanted Doctor Strange with the serial numbers filled off directed by Charles and Albert Band that features Jeffrey Combs fighting a stop motion T-Rex skeleton with a stop motion mammoth skeleton this is your movie
neutral · AI labelView post →"WandaVision" was marginally helpful context for why a secondary Avenger is suddenly bugnuts crazy in "Doctor Strange 2;" but that's kinda it and the movie catches you up enough(ish?) IMO. Difference is some of the movies/marketing started to make context FEEL more needed to drive the D+ subs.
neutral · AI labelView post →I read a review of one of the Doctor Strange movies a few years ago, and the critic was like, "none of this movie will make sense if you haven't watched all nine hours of the TV show WandaVision," and something snapped in my brain. I haven't watched a superhero movie since reading that.
neutral · AI labelView post →Despite the issues of Doctor Strange 2, I still think it's a solid movie and the biggest reason why it was because of how crazy they went with the magic
positive · AI labelView post →Giacchino is one of the best composers working right now, and I will not be taking further questions at this time. (In particular, the erudite and playful goofballery going on in the score of the first Doctor Strange movie really needs a whole paper written about it.) 🙂

neutral · AI labelView post →Sam Raimi says Rachel McAdams was “underutilized” in ‘DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS’ which is why he cast her as the lead in ‘SEND HELP’ “I promised myself that I would work with her again. And then this film came up, and her warmth is wonderful.” (via variety.com/2026/film/ne...)
neutral · AI labelView post →And literally the last movie I saw with Patrick Stewart was Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It was still great seeing him. I hope Avengers: Doomsday has a dedication to him in mind now.
neutral · AI labelView post →Watching an episode of Pointless where two women just won the jackpot for knowing Sam Raimi directed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, so at least someone got something out of that movie
neutral · AI labelView post →It's a similar case to how the MCU's movie budgets are so needlessly wasteful (Doctor Strange 1 is rumoured to be near the $700 million mark!) that they're not actually as profitable as people think

neutral · AI labelView post →Why does Scarlet Witch’s arc make no sense in the Doctor Strange movie? Because the film division didn’t know the TV division had already told that story. Left hand right hand etc. Exactly how it looked. Fine. Now I can enjoy them both on their own terms.
neutral · AI labelView post →every so often I remember that Scott Derrickson asked to use one of my monsters in the second Doctor Strange movie, but then like a month later he left the project and nothing happened

positive · AI labelView post →This would be a lot cooler if they hadn't burned this character as a random cameo in a Doctor Strange movie like 5 years ago.
neutral · AI labelView post →I've finally watched Agatha All Along and, not gonna lie, I was already mad at the last Doctor Strange film and now I am EVEN MORE MAD AT IT. But yeah, it was a good series. Make up and costume department deserve a raise
negative · AI labelView post →Stephen Broussard will reportedly serve as a producer on the ‘X-MEN’ reboot film. He previously worked on ‘Iron Man 3’, ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’, ‘Doctor Strange’, ‘Werewolf by Night’, ‘Echo’ and ‘Wonder Man’ (via Daniel RPK | t.co/bjIPXV8n6j)

neutral · AI labelView post →You know what always bugged me about that movie? So Doctor Strange has to erase this kids identity to fix the spell that he himself fucked up. Kids whole life gets wiped out nobody remembers them, he has to get his GED because apparently his school records got wiped out, and presumably his entire legal identity cuz if its going to wipe out school records why not citizenship status and medical records and identification cards, and then he moves into this dinky little apartment he somehow affords…

neutral · AI labelView post →You know that the film industry has lost the plot when Marvel Studios is forcing DOCTOR STRANGE to put on mass He's a WIZARD, KEVIN
neutral · AI labelView post →I’d like to say that the Jeffrey Combs Film Fest was a success AND I actively encourage everyone to see Doctor Mordrid, which is Doctor Strange with the rights expired partway through production and is actually really good
neutral · AI labelView post →Before this whole superhero movie thing totally burns out for good, I really hope we get this Defenders roster in the MCU. I've said it before, but if they do make a third Doctor Strange movie, it should be "Doctor Strange and the Defenders."
neutral · AI labelView post →Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: Still kicks ass, better than the first film and just all around Raimi at what he does best with Horror and superheroes.
positive · AI labelView post →3 years ago today, ‘DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS’ released in theaters. The film grossed over $955M worldwide.
neutral · AI labelView post →In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022) the antagonist of the film, The Scarlet Witch has a letter M on her head. This is a reference to her last name, Maximoff. What a narcissist..

neutral · AI labelView post →Pick an abandoned Guillermo Del Toro film. Mountains of Madness, Doctor Strange, Haunted Mansion, Hellboy 3. It boggles that we don't just let him make whatever he wants.
neutral · AI labelView post →Had forgotten that while attending the Zurich Film Festival in 2016 I encountered a urinal that played the trailer for DOCTOR STRANGE. Let's preserve that here.
neutral · AI labelView post →give me a Blade/Doctor Strange movie. BAM, billion dollar idea, i can write this movie, it will be full of pathos and references to future villains but it'll be 90 percent Blade killing vampires while Doctor Strange quips and misses Christine.
positive · AI labelView post →youtu.be/ABuDBiXeZ6U?... Scenes like this are why I prefer Multiverse of Madness over the original Doctor Strange movie. I love both, but I love how far Raimi pushed the weirdness of the character.
positive · AI labelView post →Magic, witchcraft, demons, HEAVY Hell vibes... a big part of my love of this movie is how hard I feel catered to It also cemented my love of both Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch Yer girl loves herself some villains and anti-heroes! (Strange isn't full anti-hero but this IS some shady shit lol)
positive · AI labelView post →Bit of a milestone this week, as Dark Phoenix is the 100th film I’ve logged on Letterboxd! Probably would’ve preferred it to be Doctor Strange had I realized it beforehand, but oh well, lol #LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched

neutral · AI labelView post →I’m gonna do DOCTOR STRANGE & THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS revisionism: This movie kinda rocks
positive · AI labelView post →imo iron man was never sci-fi, it was more of a magical realism where the "rule of cool" is law. I mean we're talking about the same universe that has the likes of Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch bending and breaking every single possible rule of physics with a flick of the wrist.
neutral · AI labelView post →Watched Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness tonight and didn’t realize it was a Sam Raimi film until it started to act like a Sam Raimi film at the end.
positive · AI labelView post →I'm being shown the MCU. Tonight? The original Doctor Strange movie. I'll never quite get used to Cumberbatch doing an American accent, tho...
neutral · AI labelView post →Remembering the wonderful Jessica Walter, who would have been 84 today. In addition to her long list of film and television credits, a moment to recall how perfectly cast she was as Morgan le Fay in the 1978 CBS made-for-TV version of DOCTOR STRANGE.

neutral · AI labelView post →you know what I think of when I reflect on the second Doctor Strange movie? How great Patrick Stewart was in his insane, convoluted, comically horrific punchline of a cameo, and how Bruce Campbell has a ridiculous post-credits sequence that is more memorable than most of the rest of the movie

neutral · AI labelView post →Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is still an awesome superhero Horror film. What's not to like? It's classic Sam Raimi on a bigger budget. Sure, PG-13 but so were his Spider-Man movies. Otherwise, he made it kick ass and it still works.
