Do not buy this game in 2026. This used to be one of my favorite games of all time. It's addicting, has unlocks, and can be played in microsessions if you're short on time. Gameplay wise, it's a fantastic game. But the devs completely abandoned this game in favor of the not-nearly-as-good "Endless Dungeon" game. They have not released a 64-bit client for the game, and with more and more game platforms and OSes …

The game have everything to be awesome, but have two major problems: 1-difficulty scaling: The game is easy, until it isn't. You start gathering resources and building defences holding just fine. So you decide to open one last door, suddenly appears an impossible to defeat wave. So you wasted hours of gameplay just to learn the game (with no progression), wich I'm okay with it, I have played hard games before, but I …

This is one of my favorite games of all time. There's not many games I've played like it, and I wish there was. A masterpiece of stress and RNG. Recommended Dungeon of the Endless is one of the most unique genre-mashes you’ll ever play—it’s a tower-defense-roguelike-RPG that somehow works. It captures a thick, oppressive atmosphere and rewards genuine tactical planning. That said, it is also a game that will happily ruin a 40-minute run because of a single bad door opening or a localized AI brain-fart. The Good: Atmosphere: …

A fantastic blend of roguelike, tower defense, and resource management that somehow makes all three genres work together. Every door you open feels like a gamble, and balancing exploration with survival creates constant tension. The variety of heroes and unlockables gives it plenty of replay value, even when runs end in disaster. Brutal at times, but always addictive enough for "one more run."
Summarised from 33 of the 192 public posts collected about this game; every point cites the posts behind it ([n] opens the post) and the split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Updated Oct 9, 2026. How summaries are made
67% of the 184 Steam reviewers we collected recommend Dungeon of the ENDLESS™. The complaint that keeps coming up: random crashes between levels invalidate saves. Deal-breaker or nitpick?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Dungeon of the Endless has received generally positive reviews, comparing the title to other hybrid roguelike such as FTL: Faster Than Light. Some have criticized the game for having low replay value, in that once the players have succeeded to complete a runthrough of the game, they will likely have experienced all the hazards that the game presents, and while one can repeat the game with different characters to start, the experience will be mostly the same. Dungeon of the Endless was named as an honorable mention in the Excellence in Design category for the 2015 Independent Games Festival awards. It also received nominations for Strategy/Simulation Game of the Year and Outstanding…

neutral · AI labelView post →Unfortunately, since what appears to be the last official update of 2023, the game tends to randomly crash between levels, invalidating the "silent" saved game, thus preventing you from "continuing" when relaunching the game. This renders the entire game frustrating, to say the least, especially taking into account that these crashes happen on ALL platforms. Many messages seem to have been sent to the devs, but no response has come to this day. I do love the game and have spent 300+ hours in…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Every once in a while I will try to play this game and each time it's just not fun. And sure, game hard. But why is the "Very Easy" mode still brutally hard? Oh right RNG that can just end your run instantly. The concept of the game is appealing, but the execution is lacking and the tutorial is terrible. First, items/equipment. The tutorial doesn't touch on the fact that some characters are unable to equip some weapons or even how to equip weapons and items. You do it by clicking on the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a somewhat fun game that tends to anger me. The combination of long runs and punishing RNG proves the game does not respect your time. Your chances to win are very low, even when you know everything you need to do. It's clunky and slow. Speed is punished. The game mechanics battle with each other. The multiplayer was fun, but it's been long dead. I have not seen player sessions here since 2020, and it's such a niche title that you need to have particular friends to enjoy this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good game 10 years ago, BUT, i sincerely DONNOT recommend on 2026. It's true that this game, is much better than it's sequence, but....i'll explain why its roguelike nature failed so much when compared to other modern roguelike titles like SLS or Vampire Survivor or Monster train. 1. ZERO consideration on user experience it is terrible how they made so little effort to make it an ACTUAL GAME, it's more like a demo or proof-of-concept. For example, it's a chill Sunday and you want…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is fun at first, but the balancing is just doesn't make sense. One floor you feel stronk, and the next floor enemy destroys you. There is a good game here, but the numbers feel like they were guessed. It is not challenging in a fun way. It is just confusing and frustrating 5/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For me, this gameplay loop does not satisfy. I don't enjoy clicking on doors to have my characters open them, then click on previous rooms to have them run back to the safety of the turrets, then wait for the enemies to slowly come towards them, then watch my characters' health bars in the top right of the screen and wait to press the heal button at the right time. Real time strategy/tower defense was probably not the right choice for this game, or the choice of gameplay loop was not right for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like the idea of the game and what it does, but in all my hours I have yet to win a single time because in every run at some point my game crashes and when it does it instantly deletes your save file forcing you to start over.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fair Warnings First: - Have almost nothing to do with Endless Dungeon (Besides the obvious inspiration that the latter took from this game, along with some mechanics). Better not to compare! - Playing this game will make hours of your day disappear into magic. - This game is not supported by Amplitude anymore, so what you have, you have - which mostly means some minor bugs (The multiplayer bug being the biggest and most infamous of them all) - You might experience multiplayer runs disappear…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like the vibe; however, the gameplay felt too clunky and archaic. The game leaves you to figure out almost everything on your own. The tutorial explains movement, crafting, and level exploration, but nothing else. Does not explain any of the other mechanics, which would be very useful to AT LEAST be aware of. Instead you are left scratching your head trying to piece together why you died. It's cute the first couple of times, then quickly gets annoying. UI and controls could have also…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game, I really did - I love roguelikes, I love pixel games, I love Amplitude and the Endless universe... But there is just no balance here. The only difficulty that you even have a chance of beating is called "Too Easy" - firstly, don't insult the player before they've even started the game. Second, the achievements say it all. At time of review, barely 12% of players has beaten a single run, and around 5% had gone back for a higher difficulty. Now, I'm no…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No idea what the point of this is. Even the tutorial seems disinterested in the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's fun at first but the difficulty ramps up like crazy in a way that doesn't feel like you have a chance. Relying completely on RNG without any sort of meta progression (besides unlocking characters) is a terrible choice. It feels like there's a good game underneath design mistakes. I bought this game when reviews were "very positive", so I'm glad that the reviews are more accurate now. I even tried following guides, and this is all on easy mode. At one point when the opportunity presented,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →10/10 game I've played this off an on for years. Mostly co-op but lots of time solo. Truly no idea why it suddenly has mixed reviews. It's novel, engaging, each playthrough offers something new. This game is worth the 12 dollars, easily.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Balancing feels way off and you're punished very hard when you're new to the game. Feels too RNG heavy while also not having enough variety to hold your attention through the learning phase.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dungeon of the Endless is a brilliant, anxiety-inducing cocktail of roguelike exploration, tower defense, and tactical resource management where opening a single door feels like a high-stakes gamble. It will absolutely kick your teeth in, but you’ll immediately hit restart for one more run.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are several games in the 'Endless' family. Their common feature tends to be Endless Grind. This one's different in that it's hardly grindy at all, then you randomly die.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hard and fun. Don't get discouraged by the difficulties, I feel like they are almost a a joke of sorts. There are two difficulties, "Too Easy" and "Easy", which feel like "Normal" and "Hard". I just won my first run after having owned the game for 11 years, and finally deciding to go for "Too Easy" :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worse game I've ever.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dungeon of the ENDLESS is one of those games that feels completely overwhelming at first, but once everything clicks, it becomes incredibly addictive. It mixes roguelike mechanics, tower defense, dungeon crawling, and resource management into a strange combination that somehow works surprisingly well. Every run is basically a desperate attempt to survive while exploring a dangerous dungeon, powering rooms, managing resources, and protecting your crystal from endless waves of enemies. The game…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really love this game. I just fired it up again after not playing for around 5 years. It's a dungeon crawler/tower-defense/economy-management game with excellent gameplay, beautiful pixel art, and an immersive soundtrack. Not to mention there is multiplayer, so you and your friends can die together!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No save scumming in this game. Easy mode is hard. I don't know what hard mode is going to be like. But I want to at least beat easy mode, that's for sure. The game is frustratingly addictive. I see a lot of people complaining it's to hard and it is. But after playing it for a week I notice the reason why it gets hard is because people want to open all the doors on every floor. After a while when you get to the later floors the more doors you open and the less rooms you have lit the larger…

Rogue-lite, little grinding, lots of randomness. Easy mode is the normal one, too easy is the simple one. As we all know, naming things is difficult. Graphics-wise, it's a genre you either love or hate. Personally, I love it, as well as the audio and mood. If you're looking for a game to complete until the last achievement though, stay away. Some of them are required in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too much RNG in it for me to really be "fun". Small mobs kill heroes too quickly, finding science upgrade stations when it's too late to use them, not getting a useful upgrade for the builds you have going, finding a hero that's not any good with the ones you have, and so on. It's not that skill doesn't play a part, just not enough to make me want to actually play this anymore.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neat game, but don't bother. Glitched in a way that prevents progress from being saved, so progression is actually impossible.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →sad it crashes and won't get any more updates but loved this game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game feels like a hidden gem. I admit that the game play is not for everyone. It is a rogue like tower defense game. It is challenging even if the two choices of difficulty are "Too easy" or "Easy". Interesting lore, unique characters (some will remind you of already established icons). It is more efficient and fun to play with friends, but good luck finding many that vibes with the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great vibes, great characters, great art and music. Every single run comes down to way too many coin flips, way way way too heavily influenced by RNG. Way too unforgiving for a game that asks for so much of your time
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I forgot about this game after years and started diving back into games I used to enjoy since games these days just aren't doing it for me anymore. This one happened to come to my mind late one night and I couldn't remember the name of it until i scrounged through my library. It's a great game that won't hold your hand and needs tactical planning as you move forward. I recommend playing it with friends, at least it's not a copy paste like most games out there now.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Your Heroes just die randomly sometimes leaving you to wonder why you just spend the last 2 hours playing this game just to loose at random. Everything can go super smooth just for RNG to throw you a sudden level with barely any resources and ridiculous ammounts of enemys ending your 2 hour run in a completly unfair way. I actually like the gameplay and the artstyle. Its very enjoyable. Untill you just get smashed over and over again by ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Difficulty spikes extremely in some levels…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not a bad game, it seems to have all the right ingredients, but the gameplay leaves you feeling frustrated. After two-three runs, you don't want repeat anymore. There is no "progression" besides unlocking new heroes, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. You do unlock new heroes during runs, but in general they all feel very similar mechanically, so they don't bring anything new to the gameplay. The gameplay is this weird yet somewhat cool mix of dungeon exploring, base building, hero…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought it on sale for other platform/system, and I was initially having fun with it. But the game revealed to be too chaotic, random. You might put your heroes on a room to defend against incoming enemies, only for the hordes of enemies to walk past you to go and attack the energy crystal. I found this design very annoying because it forces you to rely too much on turrets and other defense structures. Like overall the game feels like a mess, it feels like you don't have enough control over the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Player hating devs. this game isn't fun. It's designed to annoy you, frustrate you and waste your time and gives you nothing to show for any of your efforts. The devs should rename this game to You're Dead! Because that's exactly how you end up on the very first floor, before you even get started. Then you try again and every following run is the same. I blame it on this stupid crystal that you have to carry from where you started out to the stairs leading to the next floor (after you find…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is advertised as a multiplayer experience and while fun was more due to the company you play with rather than the actual game. It is a very clunky game and you can tell by the menus the polish is non-existent. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played a good number of Rogue-likes and -lites over the years. And unfortunately, I have to say this one falls short. I love the aesthetic, love the sprites, and the concept. But the execution just isn't there. There's very little room for skillful play to mitigate horrendous RNG - the first two dungeons I generated gave me an impossible layout to actually get to the escape elevator on floor 1, which wasn't the best first impression while feeling out the mechanics - but at first I just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly one of the best mix of real-time and turn based strategy games out there
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a fun game with good graphics, setting and mechanics. It works well up until you realize it offers almost zero progression. In itself its not a bad thing (see Noita), but this game doesn't reward knowledge much - it's mostly luck in what rooms did you roll and what did they contain. And if lady luck tends to hate you, look elsewhere.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Enjoyable game. Do not take it seriously. You will lose many times before fate decrees you shall win. I enjoy playing this one with friends even after a decade.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had this on my old good games. Started to replay and have no idea why I liked it 14 hours in a decade ago. The mechanisms are okay, but it would be so much more interesting if it was turn-based. Too much feels like it needs to be fast clicking while the scaling is bonkers.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dungeon of the endless is an extremely fun game for any strategy and resource management lover. It mixes this with roguelike gameplay, making you to learn by failing. Any person might think that you will get frustrated by losing at first, but no, the game is so fun and well made that you want to keep playing. You can also save and continue your session another time. If you endure, you will become a master. It has a really long replayability, as in my experience it took a lot of runs and all…
