What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 359 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (1,688 of 2,003 positive).
Players praise the remaster for being faithful to the original while adding optional quality-of-life improvements. [1][2][3] Many note the game retains the classic jank, cheesy voice acting, and challenging archers. [4][5][6] Some express disappointment over missing features like remote play and altered sound design. [7][8][9]
- [7]
Was excited to relive the nostalgia with my brother, only to see that REMOTE PLAY IS NOT POSSIBLE. For what reason, exactly? It’s a single toggle in Steamworks. Please just click it. I would gladly buy a second copy if proper online co-op were added down the line, but disabling Remote Play when the game only supports local split-screen makes no sense.

This is the game Musou players ordered. Omega Force updated DW3 perfectly. The animation is crisp AF, the graphics are really nicely done IMO and this game is just surging with replay value and it's awesome to finally have the best game in the DW franchise on Steam.

Absolutely atrocious English voice acting, useless dead weight allies at hard and chaos, archers thinking they carry an AK-47 and just mow you down the moment you show an opening, cluttered as f*ck battlefield the moment you engage them. This is Dynasty Warriors 3, exactly how I remembered it. And I am 100% loving every single thing about it. To add a bit of context, originally I was skeptical at first after hearing …

I love the original DW3 and DW3XL, It's an amazing game and is still one of my favorite games even till this day. The remastered version doesn't disappoint and feels really faithful to the original, with KOEI keeping the bad voice acting and janky camera controls while adding QoL features to the game. You can pick between the new/refreshed style of gameplay or the classic one from the PS2 era, you can also mix and …

This game is exactly what every Dynasty Warriors fan wanted, faithful to the original all the way down to the awful voice acting. The gameplay loop is so addicting you will not be able to put this game down. FEEEEL THE POWER OF MY..... MAAAAAAAGIIIIIIIIIC
Summarised from 34 of the 459 public posts collected about this game; every point cites the posts behind it ([n] opens the post) and the split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Updated Oct 12, 2026. How summaries are made
92% of the 359 Steam reviewers we collected recommend DYNASTY WARRIORS 3: Complete Edition Remastered. The complaint that keeps coming up: no remote play support for co-op. Deal-breaker or nitpick?

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very excited to announce that I worked on the localization of Dynasty Warriors: Origins! Dynasty Warriors 3 was the first PS2 game I ever owned (I still have my old, beaten-up copy!), so getting to play in the Three Kingdoms and spend time with characters I love felt like coming home.

neutral · AI labelView post →This game is my GTA 6! DW3 (三無双2) is the first game in the series I've ever played, and still play it from time to time. If Koei just rereleased the original game with higher resolution and camera controls, I would be happy. This is far better than I could've imagined, though there are still some points I didn't like. And how do I wish it was DW4 instead, literally my favorite game of all time. Positives: -No blue fart gas. -Basically same old game but with cool stuff from Origins. -New…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story of Dynasty Warriors 3 (DW3) from the PS2 era holds a special place in my memory. hoped this remastered version would capture that nostalgia while adding new in-game content and modern visuals. When the DW3 remastered was first revealed via trailer, initially expected something to Dynasty Warriors Origins (DWO) but with upgraded visuals, UI, and combat similar to Dynasty Warriors Origins. However, unlike modern titles like Origins that drastically overhaul gameplay mechanics, this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still just as amazing as I remember back when I first played it in 2003. Lubu is still a pain in the ass, the cheesy voice acting is still top-notch, and it's great for people who like single-player content with hours of unlocks, from characters to level 5 weapons. If you've got a sibling, Mrs. or Mr., drag them into battle with you. If you are reading this, Koei, I need Dynasty Warriors 4 and 5 remastered next

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I never played the PS2 version of Dynasty Warriors 3, but I’ve played several other musou games that came after it. You can still tell it’s an 'old' game. I imagine they improved a lot in this remaster, but the gameplay still feels a bit dated—though definitely much better than any PS2 old game Graphically, it looks nice and runs very smoothly at 1440p. I only had to lower 'display distance' from 'highest' to 'high', and that was enough to fix any performance issues, stable 60 FPS now One…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just played some Dynasty Warriors 3 Remastered and I got the biggest smile on my face. DW was certainly never the most in depth gaming franchise but goddamn if its not just the most videogame ass game. Great remaster of a classic game
positive · AI labelView post →Oh god, my first Dynasty Warriors game, brought back to life with better graphics... and all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ voice acting I remember. Don't buy the Deluxe edition, everything it offers can be obtained SUPER easy. This is including the item that increases officer merit gain. You can get that in the very first mission you play, if you know what you're doing.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →And also, Dynasty Warriors 3 is still my DW game to this day Bc I am old And just to make sure I don’t forget it, they’re dropping this on my bday next year 🤣
positive · AI labelView post →I was skeptical at first, thinking they were going to turn it into another anime warriors game, but thankfully I was wrong! It feels like how a Dynasty Warriors should be! Morale is actually a factor that can shape up the battlefield and you don't always have to hold everyones hands, troops actually attack and even use musou on you. Ahhh yes, archers and crossbows are still health melting machines just like they were in the past. Just finally glad to play a "new" dynasty warriors title that…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Man, the Dynasty Warriors 3 Remake demo is so weird... It's not the game I loved back in 2001, nor it's a good modern musou game. It's a weird in-between that lacks weigh & charm... but kept the shitty English VA became of memes I guess :P If you're a newcomer just get Dynasty Warriors 8 instead.

positive · AI labelView post →TL;DR just like the ps2 version but improved graphics and gameplay that you can turn off. Oh man. This game is a blast from the past. It was my 2nd ps2 game and I enjoyed it. It’s exactly as I remember it when I was a kid. But with improvements. This remastered added quality of life gameplay features. Helps improve the game. Like dodging and countering enemies attacks so you can get out of getting you butt beat by 4 officers. It has checkpoints now. So if you’re 30 minutes into a match, and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is what a remaster should be. Faithful to the original in SO many ways, yet gives you the option to turn on or off new features to the series. 10/10 Brings me back to my childhood.

neutral · AI labelView post →Remaster Review What a time to be alive, to witness one of the first ever PS2 games I played back in sixth grade remastered in near perfect form. To play it again more than two decades later feels surreal. For some of us, we are taken back to the old days when confronting Lu Bu halfheartedly meant facing real consequences, unlike the modern DW titles wherein the characters we control might feel a little overpowered even without preparation. We are taken back to the days of awkward English…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Dynasty Warriors 3 Remake demo is what I expected. I'm not impressed or unimpressed. It's "the original game with a facelift and a couple of new mechanics". My major disappointment is that key characters like Yuan Shu didn't get updated character models, and still look like generic officers.
neutral · AI labelView post →Old-time fans of the franchise, this review is for you. Just to start, there are two gameplay modes: Classic and Normal. Classic brings the gameplay as close as possible to the pre DW6 style, while Normal makes the game much easier, faster paced and more like what you’ve seen from DW6 onwards. This remaster has pretty much everything I remember from the original: the music, the voice lines, the movesets, the items, the bodyguards, the level-up system, weapon upgrades, random item drops from…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great game, runs well, minimal story, minimal hand holding, beautiful graphics and an overall highly polished experience. the people who worked on this game gave a ♥♥♥♥, and it's a real breath of fresh air
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Please people for the love of god buy this game. 3 is great and it solves most of its issues due to age (fog, pop in and amount of units on screen) But lets be real. This games success determines if we get 4 complete remaster. And every fan of the series wants that. Extra units on screen and increased range of them does have an issue though. Archers are a pain in the backside after only a few missions.

positive · AI labelView post →This game is Dynasty Warriors. This is not modern Dynasty Warriors, and it doesn't try to be. It is what it says, a remaster, and boy, is it masterful. This is what I grew up with. Am I upset some of my favorite characters are missing, like Cao Pi, but they put in the MC from Origins? Yes, but is that a bad thing? No. The gameplay is solid, the editions are good and don't take away from it as a whole. Small fry can juggle you like their is no tommorow! It sucks! But it sucks in a good…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great fun. I played them all back on PS2 and have tried DW8 on PC and this plays much better. It's been a long time since I played the original 3 but this game feels very modern, the dodges in combat feel good and it looks great. Mainly, it has that much better artistic style of the earlier DW games as compared to the more K-Pop Boy Band inspired newer games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wew lad. The Battle of the Yellow Turban really brings me back. This is a great game. I am so glad I got the pre-order bonuses because I will play this game as much as I did as a kid. It runs great, it's just as fun as it was and its unlocking all of the good memories. 10/10 good nostalgia hit.

positive · AI labelView post →like with TES4, it's really kinda weird seeing people do content mill SEO garbage for Dynasty Warriors 3, a game older than many of the people making the videos.
negative · AI labelView post →This game has been a resounding success to me, a great modernization of a very dated title while still retaining, for better or worse, a lot of the jank, soul, and frustration of the original. A great example of what Omega Force is capable of doing in a mainline dynasty warriors title. Barring any major surprises, this is my personal GOTY for 2026. A lack of variety in story stages and a narrow list of cutscenes can leave the game feeling a bit barren at the fringes, and can make repeat…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finally a DW game where troops aren't just a decoration and they can hit you and actually able to kill you. just like the old days. the only thing i didn't like is that LU Bu isn't as op as he used to be. and no online multiplayers. but over all the game is great
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's exactly like you remember it.. but better. This is how Remasters should be - Keeping the original content intact whilst offering optional improvements and modern QoL changes. You can play in fully "Classic" PS2 DW3 mode or "Modern" which is much closer to DW : Origins and has a more action-evasive style of combat which honestly feels perfectly engaging and only enhances the game. I am playing with a mix of Classic controls/camera view but with some of the Modern features such…

positive · AI labelView post →I've played the original version a LOT, and I remember pretty much every single voice line. Every warrior even had their own distinctive breathing and grunting sounds during combat. That's completely missing here. I was genuinely looking forward to hearing all of that again. Even the sound design in general feels flat. DW3 has one of the best soundtracks in the entire series. They could have done so much more with it to make the music hit harder. Play around with it, enhance it, maybe slightly…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommended at $40 if you grew up playing Dynasty Warriors 3. I’ve been waiting for a remaster of DW3 for a long time, so I’m glad it finally happened. The original definitely needed it because, by today’s standards, it has aged pretty badly. The gameplay is still fun as hell, the graphics are obviously better, and there are some nice quality of life improvements. I also like that they kept local co-op. That said, I do have some complaints. The graphics honestly aren't as big of an…

neutral · AI labelView post →Dynasty Warriors 3 Remastered comes out tomorrow, but I couldn’t wait and tried the demo! It’s a full remake more than a remaster, with so many great quality-of-life updates that it feels more like a “Dynasty Warriors 10” despite the skeleton of the PS2 game. A rare day-one purchase for me!
positive · AI labelView post →If a horror game can't terrorize me or make me panic more than Dynasty Warriors 3 did with its in-game announcements and gameplay of seeing Liu Bu advance, then it has expertly failed in being scary.
neutral · AI labelView post →Pursued Lu Bu. Got rekt. Heard a guy call troops "flaming idiots" Raged at archers hitting me over and over. 10/10 Remaster that retains what was good about the OG. Note: This is a WIP review. I have only spent around 10 hours in Free Mode grinding the base set of characters and levels to get better gear. I will update this review as I play the game more. I may have some of my info comparing it to the OG wrong (I haven't played much of DW3 since it first released) I personally haven't played…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Being older, perhaps I appreciate some of what the old games actually were under the hood, or the team just had better ideas for how things worked this time around. First off, this game doesn't screw around. I put the game initially on hard and got blasted on the first mission pretty much instantly. Enemies can and will juggle you (mostly because multiple people are hitting you). Running out on your own WILL mean losing health and getting beat up. Archers are super dangerous as well because of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanna complain about some Issues that usually bothering newcummers to the OG Dynasty warriors games, but of course these are nothing but battle realism, i will also explain how you should overcome these difficulties in the game. I started the game on Hard-classic because i expect suffering in battle, just like in OG PS2 versions of the game, so this might not be true for the normal difficulty all the way. The enemies are not nice to me! Remember these peons have been paid to join enemy…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is the perfect example of a faithful remaster. All the same controls, goofy english voice acting, amazing OST it's all there while adding new QoL features; beautiful visual updates to the characters and the maps.
