What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 270 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (3,448 of 3,768 positive).
Players praise Eclipsium for its stunning visuals and atmospheric soundtrack, calling it a beautiful and unforgettable experience. [1][2][3] Many describe it as a walking simulator with light puzzles, emphasizing that the game is more about mood and emotion than traditional gameplay. [4][5][6]

This is going to be a harsh review. I want to start it off by saying I loved the visuals of this game. It's been one of the best looking horror games I've played to date. The art direction is purposeful and beautiful, and there's many visual effects in the game that really stuck by me. Unfortunately, that's where my praise ends. First of all, the gameplay: this entire game is a walking simulator. It attempts to add …

I don't regret the money spent at all. Video games are all about the experience. And you'll certainly gather plenty of memorable moments here. The music is superb, and the visual style is fantastic too. I highly recommend this game—it's just a shame it's so short. P.S. Also, if you get stuck at any point, try not to Google the solution 8/10

I never fully understood where I was, who she was, or what any of it meant. Yet I couldn't stop walking toward the tower. Some games tell a story; Eclipsium feels like wandering through a dream. And, like a dream, it makes little sense while you're inside it and far more once you wake up. Strange, unsettling, beautiful, and impossible to forget

I have never cried playing a video game before. That changed today. This game is amazing, from the art direction to music to puzzles, not a single thing is misplaced. Beautiful and horrible in the best way everyone should play this game.

I'm not entirely sure what I just experienced, but whatever it was, I think you should experience it too. This is the kind of media that sits with you long after you've finished it. Indeed, Eclipsium is never very explicit, but that, to me, is its charm. It captures the strangeness of human emotion better than most other things by the very fact it is rather vague. If you don't mind "walking simulators", then this is …
Summarised from 34 of the 384 public posts collected about this game; every point cites the posts behind it ([n] opens the post) and the split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Updated Oct 10, 2026. How summaries are made
Players who liked Eclipsium talk about stunning visuals and art direction; those who didn't talk about gameplay is mostly a walking simulator. Which matters more to you?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Eclipsium received "generally favorable" reviews according to review aggregator website Metacritic, based on 4 critic reviews. It received praise for its pixelated, PlayStation 1-inspired art style and scenery. John Walker, writing for Kotaku, said the game had "truly beautiful vistas", with pixels pulsating across the environment to create an "organic feeling of breathing" that he found "extraordinary". Em Stonham and Sam Smith from The Escapist called the graphics "stunning", and although they found the intensity could cause eye strain, they felt there were adequate graphics settings available to help address this. Elijah Gonzalez of Endless Mode thought the art style resulted in "hazy,…

positive · AI labelView post →I was really excited to love this game, alas. This game could have and probably should have been a YouTube video. Any attempt to inject interactivity into this linear on-rails experience is only to its detriment. Similarly to Psychopomp, this game is beautiful, and gorgeous, and its visuals and sound design and theming are all sooo so engrossing, and I adore it! But the act of actually playing it is completely devoid of any meaningful input at best and actively agonizing at worst. The…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →thinking about how a lot of indie games lately that might seem gimmicky or meme or just vibes to a lot of people (Lucid Blocks or Funi Raccoon Game or Eclipsium etc) end up appealing to me a lot more than games that get a lot more attention like Silksong or Mina the Hollower

neutral · AI labelView post →Huge potential and great soundtrack, but unfortunately, the rampant and sometimes nonsensical invisible walls are extremely frustrating, and the absolute crawl of a walking speed at times feels insulting. Super cool visuals and atmosphere, but it just couldn't capitalise on it. Would love to see more by this team though!!

neutral · AI labelView post →Definitely not for everyone, but i loved it, despite its flaws Let's not fool ourselves here, you're not getting this for a story or something, you're getting this for the atmosphere and the god-tier pixel shader that makes this look like a real time drawn 3d pixel art and the game delivers, but the actual puzzles are below mediocre. Don't get me wrong, i wanted to play this game since day 1 when i saw it on some social media platform in a dev log. The low-fi atmosphere makes the whole game…

positive · AI labelView post →surprisingly i think i get what the game is about. Eclipsium conveys feeling of wanting to give anything to spend time with someone youve lost again and it nails it perfectly with nothing but the music and environmental storytelling. while i dont think everyone would enjoy it i do think its a beautiful art piece nonetheless 11/10

neutral · AI labelView post →I don't know if I personally understand, or even like this game... but I am happy it exists. It's one of those games where the less you know about it going into it, the better your experience with the game will be. It's a 4 to 6 hour cosmic "horror" game with some really fascinating camera design work and incredible visual development. At first, I thought it was REAL boring. Eclipsium takes its time to build the story and world to a point where I felt invested in seeing it through to the…

positive · AI labelView post →[Solved Eclipsium] [PC] [Probably early 2000s] A surreal game with a blood red sky and eyeballs for the ground. I saw a video on YouTube a while back talking about obscure games (I've been searching for this particular video but I can't find it anywhere) and one of the games featured was a surreal, almost nightmarish looking game. It was a first person game where you were moving down a long road that had eyeballs on the sides watching you as you passed by. The sky was blood red and in the…

neutral · AI labelView post →Game has a couple of real cool moments, but they're bogged down by you slow walking, and I mean really slowly walking, from point A to B. There's even a section where you prone crawl through a vent for minutes, with you not even having a nice environment to look at or anything. You can legit watch a video/stream on the side sometimes. Even funnier, they added a sprint button in a patch that seems to be mostly placebo. As in, your FOV increases and your character pretends he's taking faster…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →walk speed is intolerably slow for a game with so few actual interactive elements. My eyes just glazed over after a while because the game's cool visual design doesn't have enough real depth do justify its sluggish progression. The morphing hand mechanic is criminally underused from what I played. EDIT: Holy heck they added a sprint button, that improves the movement massively
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's one of those games that when you finish it, you wonder, what the hell did I just play. However, I mean it in a good way. I have a theory of what it might be about, but I guess it'll be just a theory. I wouldn't consider this game horror per se. It's unsettling, but not very scary. The art style is what makes this game really stand out. The score is also fantastic. Though, the gameplay is quite bland (as per usual in the majority of walking sims). There are some puzzles, but they are rather…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At its core, it's a straightforward walking sim, but its audiovisual style is so compelling and at times downright hypnotic. A easy recommend if you're tolerant of obscure, atmospheric games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too preoccupied with being esoteric in presentation and storytelling (good things!) to refine the gameplay enough so it doesn't feel like an absolute chore. Excellent presentation, absolutely abysmal gameplay design.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is extremely unique, in the sense that it does a lot of things I've never seen a game do before. It doesn't have a lot of actual gameplay and is more-so a walking sim with some puzzles (which are actually pretty engaging), but the way it presents the world and the overall experience is unlike anything I've ever played. Especially in the back half, I was constantly having "woah, this is awesome" reactions to each progressing level. The art style is also something I really enjoyed,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Eclipsium mostly lives up to the expectations it set for itself. It’s clear that the developers still have a long road ahead in terms of fixing bugs (many of which are very visible) but even in its current state, the game manages to hold together a fascinating, if somewhat uneven, experience. The world of Eclipsium is like walking through the stained glass of a cathedral: you feel the history and intention behind every fragment, even though you’re never quite given the captions to make…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do you ever play and realize how you feel about an entire genre just from a singular title? For me that game is Eclipsium, making me realize that I might actually dislike walking sims because completing this game felt more like a chore than an enjoyable experience. Eclipsium drops you in several hub levels which seem open ended but force you to travel linearly with a plethora of invisible barriers yet nothing guiding you towards where you're supposed to go. It felt less like I was exploring…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you let yourself sink fully into that eerie atmosphere, those haunting worlds and sounds, you will get an unforgettable experience. Don't try to make too much sense of it all, rather feel it all, and the story will come to you itself. This game gave me such comfort that coming back to it feels like coming home. After all, that's what art should do, comfort the disturbed.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →games i talked about: Danchi Days, Eclipsium, Funi Raccoon Game, Am I Nima, Hark the Ghoul, Complex 629 come for thoughts on Steam, stay for why Funi Raccoon Game is the heir to Super Mario Bros 3. it's also free to read on my patreon. consider subbing though!: www.patreon.com/posts/131975...
neutral · AI labelView post →Style over substance It's weird for the sake of being weird. The game is a slog to play through and a worse experience to pretend to have the slightest understand of what's going on. The walking is agonizingly slow an utterly uninteresting, the story looks like it's as convoluted as the kingdom hearts franchise, but the more i think about it, the more i find easier and more coherent ways to tell the excast same story. The visuals are preety, every frame might be a pixel art artwork... that's…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Eclipsium is a standout game in the Surreal / Psychological Horror Walking Simulator / First Person Adventure genre and one I easily recommend. All of that praise aside, Eclipsium contains legitimately one of the most god-awful, shoehorned in platforming sequences I have ever played in a video game which almost derailed the entire experience for me. At first I was skeptical I would enjoy this game after a little bit of a slow start and one loud jumpscare early on that made me worry they…

positive · AI labelView post →Loved it. Totally didnt understand what was happening. Would recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think it does this game a small disservice to label it a horror game, rather than a narrative driven game with horror elements. Which sounds pedantic, I know, but this game is visually and thematically stunning, and going into it thinking it was a horror game meant the first few minutes of playing I was awaiting the "Shift to Run" pop-up or a monster chase sequence. This game is far more focused on seeping oneself in the abstract, the strange, the unsettling; trying to find meaning where…

The amazing environments, the astounding soundtrack, and the surreal locations make for a wonderful experience. There were parts filled with confusion and laughter at the surreal and odd events, parts filled with unease and terror from the tense ambience, and utterly amazing moments of awe from the amazing music and strangely heart jerking moments.

The closer i got to reaching the finale, the more the storm outside worsened, accompanying the rising tension, and once the last cutscene played, so struck the first lightning. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of my absolute favorite games, second only to Signalis. I would highly recommend it; like with Signalis, you might have to look up a few analyses to truly grasp the story, but even without that, this game makes you feel all the emotions it's going for (and even finds ways to make you laugh in the midst of it all, if you get certain achievements). If I had to say one negative thing about it, it would be that it's sometimes unclear how to progress; this is a game that doesn't hold…

neutral · AI labelView post →A Surreal, Stream-of-Consciousness Experience Where Art Outweighs Gameplay 7/10 From a gameplay perspective, Eclipsium’s core mechanics can be summarized as: a walking simulator + light puzzle-solving + atmospheric horror + fragmented storytelling. it doesn’t deliver a “horror experience” in the traditional sense. But feels closer to a dreamcore-like, denpa-kei atmosphere — where the player is guided through a constantly shifting stream of abstract, almost subconscious imagery. I wouldn’t…
