I really wanted to like this game, but I'm afraid I can't quite recommend it. Pros: - lovely art and environments - some decent puzzles - characters are fleshed out, and the two-character system is nice - good QoL features: map, fast-walking, reminder of tasks Cons: - some pretty bad puzzles (pixel hunts, a quiz where there's no way to know the answers and you have to start over every time you get one wrong - …

Encodya is a beautifully crafted point-and-click adventure in the classic style of Broken Sword or Syberia. It has lovely artwork, solid voice-acting and a heroic quest. You play as two characters - an orphan child (Tina) and her robot guardian (SAM) in a dystopian future that is threatened by greed/power. If you are a fan of traditional point-and-click adventures, then you are very likely to enjoy this game. …

Amazing adventure game that was made with lots of heart. Pro: - Tina and Sam, the robot, are delightful and excellently written and voiced - The world and environments are visually just breathtaking - Story is great, with a lot of interesting characters to meet and secrets and puzzles to discover - Happy at times, heartbreaking at others, it's a game full of emotion - in-built hint system, in case you really get …

I can barely recommend "Encodya", although it is a sci-fi point and click adventure with gorgeous cartoonish graphics, a well designed cyberpunk world, nice music and two adorable main characters. But it fails to deliver in every other aspect. The story is dull and cliché, the puzzles are uninspiring and most of the NPCs are flat with bad writing. It wants to be political but it ends up being a caricature. Pixel …

Would recommend only if you buy it on discount. The story didn't really blow me away, mostly because the main antagonist was more cringy than dangerous, and though some of the dialogue with other NPCs was entertaining, the interactions were too brief for any real depth. The puzzles were often frustrating, with lots of pixel hunting and trial and error when combining random pieces from your inventory, and I ended up …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The graphics are good, the constant rain and relaxing background music are atmospheric - and that's about all I can recommend. Is it horrible? No. You're going back and forth from places, in classic Point & Click Adventure-style, but so frequently for so little it becomes burdensome and boring. You have to try both characters to get different characters to say/do things, but with no common sense about why a character might respond differently to one than the other. No mini games/puzzles.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solid cyberpunk Point & Click with modern age graphics. A breeze of fresh air, and a recommend for most P&C lovers! Tina & SAM Tina is an almost ten years old orphan living on a rooftop in Neo-Berlin, together with her guardian robot SAM-53 (2053 is the year Tina is born). Her father disappeared a long time ago, and that led to her mother getting addicted to the VR cyberspace that hooks the mass of the population. This eventually killed her, leaving Tina alone in this grim world. Luckily she…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The worst of the 80s is back. Alone. Didn't bring the good along. First thing first, this is barely a Point n' Click adventure. Rather a mere Hidden Objects game. An extreme downgrade from solving puzzles to slowly and constantly scanning every screen with your mouse. A severe issue that tanked many sales and was resolved in Antiquity with the innovation called the Hot Spots key. Which doesn't exist here. You'd think it extremely hard to screw up the interface in a genre having the simplest of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When I was first introduced to Encodya, I was drawn to its art and graphics. The mixture of detailed ligne claire art style and water colours to depict the cyberpunk setting of Neo-Berlin in 2062 is really appealing. The visual contrasts between the main characters, the nine-year-old Tina and her robot guardian/caregiver SAM-53, reminded me of Mei and Totoro from Hayao Miyazaki’s My Neighbor Totoro. SAM-53’s design was also reminiscent of the robots featured in Miyazaki’s Laputa: Castle in the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Blatant woke politics injected into a video game. I'm tired of being lectured by companies. It would be a decent point-click adventure otherwise.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is at best a maybe. Puzzles are mostly bad, locations have poor design. The game is not particularly engaging and story is also quite week and lacking in consistency. If you want to play it try and get it on sale
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Didn't like it. My mistake for buying it only because I heard was an awesome p&c adventure. Graphic is not good for my taste. Puzzles are too random for me. Found the story shallow. All this too late for a refund. But everything is subjective, so it is defintely not good for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR: A poorly designed point n click that’s just not worth it. It isn’t even unnoteworthy enough to be faithfully generic, and hasn’t managed to get a single thing right. General Thoughts/Overview: Encodya is a bland and generic cyberpunk dystopia 1/5 cross (Mega City/Cyberspace) running indie story beats 1 and 8 (Child and Protector and stop the corruption). It’s a terrible Point’n’Click (PnC) adventure which manages to hit almost every genre branch on the way down. The game lacks any…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't like this game. It was too painful for me to play. I am a big fan of point-and-click puzzle games, so I thought I would like this one given it's highish rating. However, after beginning to play, I started having doubts. From the very beginning I was having to blunt force some of the "puzzles". A little bit is a given in these types of games, but at the very start I would think good game design would initiate some basic intuitiveness in the puzzles. After completing the starting area, I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Production values (i.e. art work, setting, writing, voice acting, etc.) is passable, but the puzzle design is rather frustrating. I'm going to focus the rest of the review on discussing some of the puzzles, so MINOR SPOILERS for some puzzles below. The game features a built-in hint system where you can ask your robot companion on advice on what to do next, but the advice the robot gives is generally useless, as the robot is likely to just tell you that you need to solve the puzzle you're…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mixed. It is an average point-and-click game with a passable story. Some puzzles were too abstract, though there was a mix of mechanics throughout. The humor mostly fell flat following typical references and tropes, with just a few instances where I found it clever. In the end, I expect point-and-click enthusiasts to enjoy this game but no so much anyone else. The art style reminds me borderlands, love it or hate it. The background music is a highlight though. Additional Details…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What brought me to this game was that it seemed to be a game within a cyberpunk setting, naturally for that alone the game earned its brownie points before it has even started. The store page mentions that the atmosphere is inspired by Blade Runner so you would assume that Neo Berlin is a sprawling megaplex, but every screen basically feels empty and live less. This feeling gets even more amplified because the architecture is indeed shown in a megaplex style. The story for me is neither funny…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Laughably bad game. The puzzles are easy, just time consuming. Having to comb over every square inch of the screen to find the object that your cursor doesn't pick up the first dozen times it passed over it is a huge pain, so you end up having to look up where to get the item to solve the puzzle you already know how to solve through the simplistic riddles and basic intuition but just can't find the item for. Only to discover it was in the same area you combed over repeatedly disguised as…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I feel very meh about this game. The Good I enjoyed the general art style, it reminded me of old 3d animation. I liked the relationship of Sam and Tina The Meh Intractable items were hard to differentiate on screen from the background and felt like a pixel hunt at times. There was a claim that pressing/holding the space bar will light up those items, but it never worked for me. What I assume are translation issues, there was a part that suggested finding a secret word located on a big door.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →♥♥♥♥ SAKE! This game is so close to being a really great game but falls short on few levels - first big fat robot always gets in the way - he should move around tina - and not block so much screen space - but the two main issues with the game is 1) there is a few times ur stuck as u cant find an object - objects which are very small - something like a tiny rock that u dont find unless u spend serious time scrolling the entire scene - and 2) it just get sloppy and too difficult towards the end -…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game, while nice to look at, did not offer much else. The humor is mostly fourth wall breaks, which stopped being funny in the first chapter. While solving the puzzles I felt like I was swamped with random items and red herrings and often shaking my head in disbelief about things I tried out of desperation and that just simply should not have worked like that, but somehow did anyway. And the story, sweet and heartwarming as it was, has unforgivably huge plot-holes and suffered from a cast…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do you like tedious pixel-hunting and hidden-object "secrets" in your "serious" non-casual adventures? Do you enjoy moon logic almost as bad as in the adventures from 90s? Are you exited about the idea of making a story with social conflict and politics, but for kids, yet sold like it's a serious game? Does yet another "cyberpunk" game that has nothing to do with cyberpunk as a genre besides being "sci-fi" and with "cyber" slapped over random stuff spike your interest? Then Encodya might be…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to like this game I really did. The graphics amazing, the story was alright, the music and sound affects good, but the pacing and the back and forth was so convoluted I wanted to rip my hair out a lot. I couldn't even finish it at the end because I was just more frustrated and annoyed then anything else and was no longer even enjoying the game. Even with a guide I found this game so cumbersome that I couldn't finish.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm sorry but the game was just not enjoyable for me. It's mostly fetch quests, running back and forth and pixel hunting. Also a few illogical puzzles that can only be figured out if you try using every item with another item. At one point I got stuck because I had missed a tiny rock laying on the ground, I had to look it up after running around for quite a while. Another puzzle I had to look up because it gave absolutely no feedback so I thought I was doing something wrong, found out you have…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Should be just my kind of game. Pure point-n-click and set in the future... I want to love it, but there are too many annoying things. You have the perfect tool for something - but have to collect some nonsense to solve it instead... 'barriers' that could be overcome by simply walking round... but you can't. I hate PnCs where you use a tool for a puzzle - lose the tool - then need the same tool for the next thing... Encodya has the opposite problem - you end up carrying a lot of stuff you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this game for a couple of hours and really tried to get into it. I'm sorry but...it's boring. I had a HUGE inventory very quickly into the game and found myself cycling through all my items on clickable points in the world trying to move forward. I also found the world difficult to navigate and I would sometimes have to move SAM out of the way to better view the scene (he makes a better door than a window.)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really liked this game! The story was engaging, funny, moving and kept my interest throughout. I enjoyed the voice overs and music very much. The puzzles were fair and at the right level of challenge, not too hard or easy. Unless you are a masochist, like me, I would recommend playing on easy mode first. I played on hard mode without a hot spot indicator or hints and though hints weren’t necessary for me, some of the items and hot spots were small and very easy to miss and was the reason…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game, but I have to be honest: I played through it from beginning to end and I just didn't enjoy it very much. Halfway through I took a hiatus of three months or so and almost didn't muster the motivation to get back to it. When I picked it back up, I kept playing more out of a sense of obligation to finish what I start than because I actually cared about what happened next. The problem is the game just has very little to recommend it. The puzzles weren't clever,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So many bad, intentionally user-unfriendly design decisions. Most obvious: ability to show hotspots. Pixel hunting should no longer be a thing, yet here it is
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm several hours into this game and I'm both frustrated and bored. While visually beautiful, the logic behind the puzzles makes zero sense. They're so convoluted and difficult that I had to resort to using a walkthrough to solve many of them. For some of the solutions, I found myself saying, "I never would have figured that out." On top of that, character movement is painfully slow (even when you double click) and I find myself clicking to speed through the dialog sections because they're so…

positive · AI labelView post →This game is a 6/10, hence the thumbs up. The story is engaging. The puzzles are rather simple but enjoyable. NPCs are too eager to give you items, even without you asking them. And too much pixel-hunting! Despite its flaws, definitely recommended.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm new to adventure games - this is my fourth ever and now I'm hooked :) I started gaming with HOPAs for the puzzles, but don't fancy the hidden object element I played this game as a group play at Senscape and got enough help from other players to save the world :) I had a wonderful time with this game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not a huge fan of this type of game to begin with so take this review with a grain of salt. It's a "Point and Click" adventure game, which I think anyone who played computer games in the very early 2000 and before would be familiar with. Maybe even have some fond ones that you enjoyed somewhat at some point. I bought this around 2 years ago, but never actually played it. I liked the setting and art style so that's likely why I was drawn to it. Recently I've been going through my Steam…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are really into slowly dragging your cursor back and forth over the screen looking for items to light up, this game might be for you. At the very beginning the devs go out of their way to say that they are not taking any political position, but immediately take a political position by making the mayor a caricature of an existing political figure. Cowardly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Encodya is an average game. There's quite a lot to be liked, but the second half is much weaker than the first. Length is okay, voices are good, interface is decent, story is ...okay. Not much else to say here.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall = 6/10 An impressive looking but mediocre adventure game which struggles to tell its story at any kind of pace. The graphics are great with an atmospheric setting, full 3D scenes and models and cartoon style cut scenes, and the voice acting is good, although Tina’s dialogue is inconsistent with her age. The story however is far too childish, with everyone you meet too helpful and nice and the pacing is awful. The puzzles are all fetch quests, involving a lot of back and forth and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Clumsy voice acting, over-exaggerated characters and old fashioned orientalism cyberpunk. Nothing really appeals to me. Sorry.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is fine when it's on 90% discount I guess. I love the music, the graphics, and the main characters, but. The speed of characters is so slow it's tiring to wait for them to walk somewhere. The robot obscures the view. The hints do not make sense and the repetition of "oh my RAM can overload I must count all the hints" is just tiring. Many of the puzzles don't make sense - how should one guess them? Overall it's not awful, but it feels dated and I'd give it 5/10.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A game that gets progressively worse. Before anything else a wall-of-text disclaimer is shoveled to you face, something between trigger warning and code of conduct. Fine, fine, "no discrimination blah blah blah" let me play. Now into the game... soon you see "Mr Rupmf" poster on a wall and inspect it, protagonist comments "orange man bad". Repeat on every occasion. Ok ok developer doesn't like Drupmpf and decided to write a story evolving around him instead of creating their own character.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When I played this amazing game a year ago, I was fascinated by the story of Tina and her Robot as well as by the 'worlds' which we were shown - on the one hand, the city with its dark implications and then this green world of Encodya ! And I loved the idea, that that we, the good ones, win in the end ... I replayed Encodya a week ago and was again amazed and enjoyed it immensly. HIghly recommended !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't stop playing this one. There are irritations so I keep a link to the guide on hand. Some things just don't come to ya so spending too much time trying to figure out what to attach to what to use on what can be irritating. Love the full walkthrough available that offers video and text. When I get stuck or anything for extended periods of time I will take a peek. I love these types of games. I'd change a few things but still appreciate it. I got it on sale :) I port it over to my ios…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To put it plainly, the game is dull and drags too long for its own good. I needed to complete Broken Sword 1 for shorter amount of time, and yet that game had way more substance in terms of gameplay and story, for its amount of playtime. The gameplay starts out relatively promising, inventory puzzles are mostly logical(although its mostly just inventory puzzles, I think the first proper puzzle appears in Encodya almost more then halfway through the game completion), and while the story…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At some point i had like 20 items which i found after pixel hunting in areas where they didn't stand out in any way and didn't know why i needed them. Weak game, clumsy UI and in need of many QOL improvements.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →0/10 Political Cats recommend this game. ☑️Relatively challenging. ☑️Overall well done point and click adventure game. ❌Politics: I don't care for politics nor your political bias injected into the game. ❌Graphics: feel way too dated and ugly for character models. It's an overall okay game, but then the "♥♥♥♥ Bates" (Bill Gates) & Mr Rumpht (Donald Trumph) political nonsense gets shoved in your face. That's where the fun stops, I'm not here to play a game about laughing in Americans faces.…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Based on my 9 hours gameplay, playing without hint is extremely difficult. However, there is no harm in trying the hard mode as the creativity of one and understanding of graphics appearance in-game would help you to play the game with ease, for the initial and mid-stage. However, at end-game, there is close to no way you tried without hints or Googling the hints (for hard mode initial user). Overall, I am very satisfied with this game and it's reference to other games (there disclaimers by…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My first "date" with Encodya was thanks to the free demo the devs had released some weeks before the full game was still to come out. It was one of those excitingly old-school adventures with lots of item manipulations. The main characters, little tiny Tina and her nanny-robot, are, at least for me, well-drawn and quite interesting to follow. However, I feel like we were left missing a lot of both our main personages' characters: the reasoning behind their actions was sometimes left…

However, there was no expectation for me to provide a positive review in this agreement. So believe me or don't, that's your choice. But I enjoyed this game! I have an odd relationship with puzzle games like this, and that's usually that I get frustrated and cheat a lot with guides. Not so much on this one! I don't know if I got lucky or if the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Review after 100% : Since Encodya is a point & click adventure game, i'll only talk about the puzzle and the narrative aspect of the game. Gameplay - Too much backtracking required, way more than all P&C genre game i've played. - There's no object size consistency nor lining on interactable object, and some of the object are so small that you need to pixel-hunt it. - Solution mostly bog into trial & error/using hint/ using someone guide at later chapters, instead of common sense like good…

I ultimately decided to choose yes, as there were only a few minor annoyances that really made me hate the game during certain points, and I really did like the storyline. Cons: I felt like the puzzles were a little too hard during the game, and I had to look at a guide a few times as it was just something I would have never thought about Which goes hand in hand with my second issue, the items in the game that are the ground…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cute characters, interesting setting, but has many of the usual trappings of point-and-clicks. Many riddles are about trying to find some pixels on the screen, lots of small chores rather than real riddles, etc. Too bad
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The good: beautiful art, a hopeful storyline centering kindness, a lot of puzzles, atmospheric music. The bad: it needs an editor, not unusual for a project driven by one (clearly talented) person; some puzzles should be rearranged to be in the same location rather than spread over 3, and the Loading screen between every room is annoying. Double-click to run should always work, even when using items; cutscenes and the credits should be pre-rendered to avoid glitching.
