Some reviewers feel the game is not ready for full release, citing bugs and balance issues. [1][2][3] Several players note the factions are unique and the combat is improved over previous titles. [4][5][6]

Compared to the original game (which is superb) sadly, this is a massive disappointment. All Amplitude needed to do was take the original (imo up to the point they released Guardians) update the diplomacy, AI & graphics & this would’ve been a great game. Instead, they’ve tried to re-invent the wheel & ended up with something considerably inferior. This game lacks the charm of the original. The artwork is nowhere …

ENDLESS Legend 2 successfully revives one of the most beloved fantasy 4X strategy series while introducing bold new mechanics that make each campaign feel fresh and unpredictable. The game's greatest innovation is its dynamic world. The ocean planet of Saiadha changes over time as the tides recede, revealing new continents, valuable resources, ancient ruins, and strategic chokepoints. Unlike traditional 4X games …

This game is in such a frustrating place, because while it has a whole lot going for it, it is substantially, thoroughly impacted by avoidable design decisions which are deviations from what made previous Endless titles so captivating and enjoyable. Endless Legend was a great strategy game because it was so different in a genre which all kinda tend to look like Civilization. Auriga was a wildly alien landscape of strange life and cultures it was easy to get lost in. The strategy game…

It's sad, but what made the first game so special is gone: the artwork, the storytelling, the mystery, the dramatic feel... the dialogue system is a complete failure. Amplitude will try to make up for it, but I'm remaining very cautious and waiting to see. It seems so strange to me that they took this direction after the success of the previous games... I don't know...

Not ready to leave EA by a long mile. I tested it early in early (pun intended) and it had potential but was not ready at all. I was surprised to hear of 1.0. I had followed the patches to see changes were made. I thought the game would be readier. Turns out, it's not ready at all. The cinematics and musics are great. The identity of the game great. The factions are very different as usual. Except the GAME itself, the playing, is horrible. The UI is still very clunky (Clicking on a unit on a…

As it is, I don't like the direciton it's going. I saw someone describe this as "endless humankind" and you know dude, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ slay. This game has this absolutely awful scaling system at its core that I just don't see them changing or removing, and it fundamentally sucks the fun out of the game at such a core level that nothing they could change about the game would make up for it. Everything you do scales in cost, and the rate at which it scales is absolutely staggering. The whole tech tree…

Not sure the EA end date is quite right - "Leaving Early Access: 17 Sep, 2026" it says.... that's like 3 weeks from now and I gotta say, unless they suddenly add a whole heap more to this it seems just... lacking. What is here is beautiful, no doubt - music, art, world and lore etc. are all fantastic. But it just .... doesn't really feel like a full game. It feels small even on a "Huge" world (I've restarted dozens of times and normally the AI is about 2-3 sectors away which feels like right…

Just absurd amounts of AI cheating for artifical difficulty. AI cheats on production AI cheats on unit regen AI cheats on unit recruitment (A LOT) AI cheats on upkeep for units And worst of all, the game is balanced around the map expanding at certain time intervals, AI knows exactly where it will expand the most, exactly where resources will spawn in 50+ turns so it just plans for that and colonizes all regions that will be most efficient where the player has absolutely 0 knowledge of this.…

It's been a while since I've played a game that so perfectly encapsulates the urge to play "just one more turn..." Eventually, some corner of my brain jerks away from the empire of bugmen or animated suits of armour or robotic coral I've been commanding and I realize that it's so late it's actually early. There's something compelling about the steady iteration, the gradual progression to your goals, and EL2 nails it perfectly. As is to be expected from an Endless title, the art direction, the…

I’ve loved most Endless games, but this one’s just not hitting right. The dialogue feels flat and charmless. Honestly, it reads like AI slop—just doesn’t click with the world or the factions in a meaningful way. For an asymmetric game, that’s a pretty big miss. FOR GOD'S SAKE HIRE WRITERS

The game has potential if you're looking to play multiplayer, with a variety of mechanics that breathe new life into this genre. But if all you're concerned about is single player.... The AI is absolute crap, there's functionally zero challenge, even worse than the original Endless legends. Just for an example, in my current game, one of the AI bordering my territory declared war on me. I ignored it for about 15 turns as it did almost nothing, then sent 2 armies and crushed them completely…

Right now I would not buy this game. The AI is out of wack. Other factions spread way faster and build way more units than they should be able to. Hell even minor factions are pumping out stacks that are somehow bigger and stronger than my best units. Every game I have played so far has been ruined by AIs having so much more that's so much better than what I can possibly do at any time.

I try to keep it short. Background for my gaming: Endless Legend 600h, Endless Space 700h, Civ6 700, Stellaris 1k, etc. What do I enjoy about playing 4x games: The building up, the lore, the exploring, multiple ways to win, multiple ways to go in a strategic way, get immersed in the world and a fighting system, that is either short and straightforward or offers another layer of complexity. The game itself is pretty good. A lot of the good stuff from games like Civ 7 and Civ 6 are in here plus obviously the original endless legend and humankind. *** Written in Early Access Update #28*** I don't think this game is ready for most players yet. Unless you want to be fighting bugs, freezes, and poor design, hold off until they're done cooking. Major issues I've encountered: + Game freezes and must be force-quit on Monsoon transition cinematics sometimes. In multiplayer, this is persistent until the host reloads the game. + Game AI is poorly designed, once you're at war with the AI once, even if you're on the defensive and get a white…

Not yet. The first one is still both better and cheaper, but this is on its way to being a successor. The seas draining away to reveal new land is a great mechanic. 1. Too many bugs still. Off the top of my head, Tutorial on population resets every time you boot the game, even when loading into a save. When building buildings in your cities, the resource bonus calculation is broken. It doesn't consider what buildings you have queued, and if you have a tier 2 building it often doesn't…

The original Endless Legend was my favorite 4x, scars and all. While this is wearing the clothes of the original, I'm not sure if it's the timing, playstyle, way expansions work and can be attached to your main city, or how the units feel, but it just misses the mark. I'm open to revisiting my review in a few months, but I bought the game without reservations, and that was a mistake.

Updated review right before early access is over. TLDR, did you play Endless Legend or Civilization? Its like that but better. The game was worth the money shortly after early access launched, and they have kept adding to it ever since. So in Q&A form: Why this game and not Civ? This one is more of a fantasy 4X game, and as such there are a few areas focused on for that. Firstly, there are faction quests that further the story (!) of the faction that you are playing. The quests are…

There's no unique creatures and dangers and gameplay changing things you encounter after monsoons other than a doomwraith. It needs MORE life and a LOT MORE of it asap. The minor factions are cool yet do absolutely nothing. Make them feel more alive, have…

Kinda bad tbh. The tech system in particular is disappointing. Researching new technologies rarely feels impactful, and it's hard to tell what you're actually working towards. I especially dislike that the game doesn't clearly show when the next age starts or what exactly is required to get there. Progression feels vague instead of giving you a meaningful long-term goal. I'd much rather have a more linear and readable tech tree like Civilization or Humankind, where you can look ahead, plan a…

An absolutely fantastic follow up to both Endless Legend 1 ("EL1") and Humankind ("HK") that wonderfully blends ideas from both games. Now, to begin, with the things I think are good and/or improved from EL1 and HK: - Firstly, the music is once again an absolute standout. - Secondly, the visual style and presentation is absolutely top notch and it is once again a game world that is just nice to be playing in. Further, I have had no graphic glitches or frame-rate drops at all in my time so…

An excellent successor which will only get better with time. The base game mechanics are all sound with plenty of disparate factions with custom builds available too. Exciting roadmap to look forward to. Solid 9/10

Really sad to see the strong art style of the 1st be sacrificed for a more generic 4X look. Looks more like Humankind. One of the biggest charms of Endless Legend was its distinct look. Not a bad game though, just nothing special either

Unlike traditional 4X games where the map becomes static after exploration, ENDLESS Legend 2 constantly…

I anticipate returning to play Endless Legend 2 for many years to come. In Early Access at time of review; [edit (post Retold Tales Update, but still in Early Access): I think the new dialogue system is miles ahead of the click ad nauseum that was happening before this update. way more compelling and feels like a more concise experience. I might have been a little harsh with the feedback on terrain, below. (I had forgotten q and e keys could rotate the map, making the delineation of…

This game will one day be good and complete, however I would not recommend purchasing it until that point. for 50$ you are paying to beta test. This is something they should be paying YOU for.

I deeply enjoyed the first Endless Legend and after playing several hundred hours I eventually tired of it. The special nature of Endless Legend is the incredibly unique mechanics of the different factions (they function very differently) and how you must significantly change your style of gameplay when you choose a different faction. Also its a gorgeous game. This sequel is totally refreshing, and incorporates so many QOL improvements over the first game while still being quintessentially…

First impressions are really good. This feels like a much more cohesive and well polished version of Endless Legends 1. There's a number of things unique to each game, indeed 2 is set on an entirely different planet to Auriga and has fairly different factions. (You do get some returning factions). What hasn't changed is the story and art style. Both were the highlights of 1 and they're the highlights here too: this is a game where the art direction carries a ton. A major change is that…

I'm about 7 hours in and I can't really decide how I feel about EL2. I like it, I know that. I just feel like I'm playing a clone of Age of Wonders 4. At least, in its current state anyway. I suspect with time EL2 will add in enough features they stand out as a unique entry into the 4x space. In its current EA state I can say I enjoyed the mechanics, the current set of starter factions are fascinating, and the environment is GORGEOUS. I love zooming in and out to admire the animations.…

This is like a more story-focused version of Age of Wonders: Planetfall. That game has a lot of fun stuff but too much of it. This game is a much leaner and focused experience. It's much more about taking your heroes and their nation on a quest to discover the planet and its secrets, less about the growth of a civilization. That said, it makes it much less enjoyable to play it more than once per faction. Once you have finished the story, doing it again feels very repetitive. BUT the…

Creative and well-designed game. Simply put, the Tidefall mechanic works to solve a real issue: exploration is the most fun part of these type of 4X games, and Endless Legend 2 lets you repeat that phase throughout the game without undoing your progress to date. The music is excellent, and the combat is fun. This game is well worth getting. Even the AI is improved compared to past entries such as Endless Space 2.

It looks beautiful, the soundtrack is amazing, the UI couldn't be better, the gameplay is the original game and then some. The issue? The scaling is completely broken right now, the AI is stupidly aggressive, even the peaceful ones. Everyone beelines to you and boxes you in before you have a hope of expanding. Random quests can spawn t3 full armies within the first 20 turns. Losing a single unit is basically a restart if it happens early, it completely cripples you. Sieges completely stop your…

A true successor of Endless Legend 1, EL2 has everything that made me fall in love with the Endless universe in the first place. Amazing soundtrack, interesting and engaging gameplay, a compelling story. The Humankind-styled district building is well handled and interestingly showcases each faction's gameplay philosophy, and I can't WAIT to see what will be revealed as time goes on.

If you liked Endless Legend 1 then this game is great. I love their tide mechanic, (gradually reveals more cool stuff on the map as you play), since it keep the playthrough feel fresh and exciting, especially since you can often see that there is something cool down there, but you can't reach it quite yet. Combat is very fun as well, I hope they expand on the talent trees a bit more at some point, but there's quite a bit of depth. the events and quests are cool too, albeit once you've played…
