What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 191 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Very Positive (2,974 of 3,483 positive).
Players praise the story and characters as heartfelt and compelling. [1][2][3][4] Many note clunky combat and camera issues, but find the game enjoyable overall. [5][6][7][8]

Game as too many bugs to enjoy. Add that to the fact that you have to restart here and there and there are a lot of dialogues you can't skip. Combat also doesn't feel all that fun. Idea was interesting at first but I hate this game.

It has voice acting, fun characters, and a decent story. For the price I paid, it was more than worth it. Hopefully this studio makes more games!

⭐ Eternights Review — A Surprisingly Powerful Experience Wow, I never expected to like this game as much as I did. Eternights is atmospheric and moody, filled with characters who are instantly likable and surprisingly heartfelt. The gameplay is fun and responsive, and from the very first moments it hooks you. You’re just hanging out with your friend and then—bang—the world ends. The striking visuals blend with …

This is one of those games that’s frustrating to talk about, because it gets so much right and so much wrong at the same time. The story is genuinely compelling. The characters are fun and built with personality, the story Is built in a way that makes you want to keep going, just to see what happens next. Unfortunately, getting to those moments is where the game struggles. The gameplay feels clunky and repetitive, …

this game has a breathtakingly beautiful story, no doubt. I just finished the yuna walkthrough of this game, and i've just spent the last 20 minutes crying a lot. This game genuinely struck every single heartstring in me. Massive hats off and hugs to the devs. I do wish that the other characters had chemistry and their own bonds with each other (i.e Yuna's friendship with Chani, Min's friendship with Yohan etc.) …

Players who liked Eternights talk about great story and characters; those who didn't talk about clunky combat and mechanics. Which matters more to you?
Critics, per Wikipedia
Before release, Eternights drew comparisons to the Persona video game series due to its premise of teenagers fighting supernatural enemies while including social and calendar elements in the gameplay. Writing for Kotaku, Kenneth Shepard praised the game for including a gay romance option, but considered the character writing in the game's demo to be superficial and the combat to be "flimsy as hell", noting a "lack of weight" to attacks and movement in the game's action sequences. Reviewing a preview version from the Summer Game Fest Play Days, Push Square's Liam Croft was impressed by the game's cutscene visuals, and called the dialogue options "engaging", though "occasionally creepy".…

neutral · AI labelView post →Probably the worst experience I've ever had with a video game. At least with Eternights I had no expectations of it being good and can laugh at how funny bad it is. This game feels like a series of shark jumps bending over everything to justify a shocking twist ending for the sake of subversion.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Assuming this is an indie game, it is pretty good for the price. I really likes the anime sequences. I also strangely enough like the atmosphere (the purplish post-apocolyptic vibe). I have two critisisms: 1. Sia's character design could have been more mature. 2. Walls keep getting in your way as you play. It was so frustrating to lock onto an enemy only for a wall to block your vision and then you get hit. The only other thing I didn't enjoy was the dodging mechanic, since I suck at…

It feels cheap in everything, but it's not bad. The game builds this really cool atmosphere of loneliness, reflection, and alienation. The sound design is actually great. And here's the paradox - the combat is way richer than the dating mechanics. Like, much richer. Аbout the characters. The main hero is basically a cartoon anime incel. So much so that…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cutesie and funny short-ish game, the humour can be priceless a couple of times, even if the game in general is trope-y. The hack and slash sections could do with some reworking IMO, at least with the absurd hit boxes on enemies that force you to dodge/parry at all times and the damn camera in narrow spaces... But not insane and really forgiving with the auto-retry feature. Although I am struggling to get white points to level up support skills... That said, don't forget about the secondary…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want this game to be good. There are so many times that I feel like this game rug-pulls me into thinking the game is going to get good, and then it lets me go back back to playing the game. I am then reminded that I am playing Eternights, a game that is effectively a compilation of good ideas that don't entirely mesh that well. Persona-derived schedules and main gameplay loop work just fine. There's a reason Atlus keeps reusing the formula. My main gripe is the combat systems. I genuinely…

neutral · AI labelView post →A relatively short game, but incredibly well-written dialogue and story. All of the characters are interesting and would honestly be good options for the romance routes. The gameplay itself can feel a little clunky at times (in particular, some cutscene dialogue pauses for a long time, and you normally can't skip dialogue in-game), but the combat is very consistent and feels good to pull off difficult feats. Took me about 12 hours to finish the game, but the replayability is good as well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →you know what, looking through my backlog and I will play Eternights. I need something to shake my gaming experience up and I appreciate a bisexual game.
positive · AI labelView post →The combat is horribly clunky, but otherwise it’s a great game. I like that the game’s humor is similar to AI Somnium.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I do think I’ll go for it. Once I get it, I’ll probably run through Nioh 2 and try to platinum that since I managed to on the first game. Not sure if I’ll continue the soulsborne/soulslike grind after that or chillax with some easier games for a bit. Still need to finish Eternights too.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well it was a pretty fun game, though I do think it could be improve on a lot. I mainly liked the characters, like I liked the best friend way more than I thought and Miu was my favorite, pretty adorable, but the idol was pretty endearing and mister dreams was quite entertaining as well, and while the SCIENCE girl didn't intrigued me as much, she was enjoyable enough, as per the rest I did not felt strongly about them. Music is good, definitely more on the atmospheric side but still…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No cutscences works, and no sorry... I am not going to install a third party codec to MAYBE make it work, as the dev adviced. It's not safe and I'm not the one in charge to fix THEIR own bugs.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Eternights is Fun little indie game. The Story is okay you gonna get some scene where you gonna laugh hard and some cool scene but that's all. i think what is carrying the story and the game is the characters intersection is insanely fun and a well written characters you got. The combat is fun and deep enough but what i hated it in the combat is when you're to…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A bit clanky here and there but it's forgivable since it's not some big funded type of game. Quite addictive engaging battle gameplay I think, they got the vibe, while the 3d models expression kinda stiff but they got amazing voice actors to carry (I played with EN). I really like the general aesthethic of the setting of the world of Eternights quite mysterious and a bit chilling creepy but also beautiful. Characters interactions/dialogue are surprisingly very fun and great, while they got…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Blegh... No, it's not the story. I actually like the story. It's so anime style... Which I dig, mind you. But the QTE on a fast pace game or souls-like... it's like cutting the flaw when you already in it. There also barely anything to explore, making exploration barely mean anything. Interaction also meh, other than some very specific items for the specific characters, at given specific timing, on very specific places... Sorry, but the game feels like it's copying some mechanics…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Respectfully, F**king Peak. Fun combat mechanics, social links as good as Persona. My only complaint is that the story is too short. Worth every dollar.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game for the price and the fact that like 3 people worked on 90% of the content. First and foremost: this is a short game. You should be able to finish a playthrough in 12-16 hours. My fresh thoughts after just finishing the game: it definitely needs work in certain areas. Gameplay-wise, there's quite a bit of jank and bizarre gameplay choices (*cough* healing system *cough*). Using Unity as the engine definitely doesn't help here. Story-wise, there's a lot going on early on but as…

From what I've heard it's an indie game inspired by the Persona series (no entry specified) and a few other (DMC I think?). Let's start with the best aspects of Eternights: Graphics and artstyle If I'm not mistaken, this game was made in Unity. It looks really good, the artstyle of 3D enviroments and objects is always consistant and…
