What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 191 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Negative (110 of 366 positive).
Many players find the gameplay fun but extremely repetitive. [1][2][3] The high price point is widely criticized as not matching the game's content. [1][2][4] Some reviewers recommend waiting for a steep sale before purchasing. [1][2][5]

If this game was priced at $15 - $20 it would have Mostly Positive reviews. The gameplay is fun, if repetitive. I am basing my review solely off the gameplay and not the price. It is fun - the systems are fun - it's just far too repetitive. Asking $60 is a joke. Wait for a sale, but know the gameplay is fun/solid.

It's the same game from the first mission to the final mission. They couldn't be bothered to design custom missions for most of the maps. This game actually hurt to finish. I wish I could refund. I do not suggest you buy this, save yourself from the brain damage.

I could not in good faith recommend this game to anyone. There is little to nothing to it, just the same mission over and over for the what people are saying 7 hour campaign. I couldnt finish it myself because I was too busy sobbing and thinking about blowing my brains out for paying nearly full price for this pile of garbage. If it was a mobile game for $1.99 I'd say go for it. At $60 this is an insult to gamers …

Most of the negative reviews mention one thing, how repetitive it is, if you scroll through and look at all the times you see variations on "repetitive" "not enough to offer" "too little gameplay variation" etc. and have screenshots of the game up at the same time then you've pretty much seen what it has to offer. It looks really good, the enemy designs look really cool and the concept of taking down massive enemies …

This game has been dog piled (and not without good reasons) but I wanted to give my take as well which is more positive than many. The TL;DR is this: The game has a lot of really enjoyable elements if you actually utilize the mechanics properly but it's too short and the systems lack the depth to come anywhere near a $60 price tag. Buy this at $30 or less. Movement is fast and a lot of fun. Once you learn the …

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →SO after playing this game for 7 hrs I've come to the conclusion of it's fun to play and worth buying (at a discounted price). DO NOT...I REPEAT... DO NOT BUY AT FULL PRICE. The gameplay is fun and yes repetitive. (But you could say the same about Streets of Rage and that's a classic.) This is like and arcade style horde mode game with bosses mixed in. I think this game's bad rep is due to a high price point and marketing. Had this game came out at $39.99, I don't think it would get bad…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a fun little game. But it's LITTLE. 60 bucks is WAY too overpriced. This is more like 20 and 30$ max. Defend and teleport humans, kill ogre. repeat x9999. pick it up when its on sale. Also, story is not the best
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can not recommend this game...a poor combat system that lags behind DMC or Darksiders The only thing to praise is the graphics of a game that will not catch up, but it does not offend Otherwise the game is boring...I played 3 missions and it was enough .... For me it's max 40% and refund it

It’s about environmental destruction and a fox and her pups trying to survive so obviously it was gonna have a sad ending, but it was a unique little game with a simple story and beautiful animation.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Extinction is a game that's been hammered in the gamer community lately, mostly due to its exorbitant asking price. A stylish hack n' slash with impressive maps of large grapplehook-able cities and massive Shadows of the Colossus-styled battles with orcish titans sounds like a dream come true on paper, so what could it be that's earning the title such backlash? Well, to put it bluntly the game is on the repetitive side so much so that it makes the game not worth the high price to a lot (well,…

neutral · AI labelView post →When I first heard about this game I was very excited, at first I thought it was gonna be like a new aged Shadow of the collossus or something. But with very few trailers of gameplay out it was really hard to get a feel for where this game was going. After I was able to recieve a key from a dev ( thank god ) I saw this trainwreck of a game first hand. neutral · AI labelView post →I finished the first chapter. Every mission was the same repetitive drivel. The game is pretty. Combat is smooth, but simplistic and utterly boring. Each level is the exact same thing, over and over again. I enjoy the art style, but the characters constantly babbling during each missions and freezing the play every time they talk is so freaking annoying it becomes unbearable. NPCs literally just stand there. There is no life to this game. Not worth $60. I knew something was going to be wrong…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Introduction Extinction is the latest title from Iron Galaxy, published by Modus Games. In this larger-than-life level-based 3D hack-and-slash brawler you play Avil, one of the last Sentinels: fearless warriors who dive headlong into battle against the giant ravenii. The game's introduction is told from the point of view of Avil's companion, Xandra, but seems basically irrelevant to the game's campaign. Xandra and Avil were both criminals and sentenced to hard labour sometime, somewhere, but…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What did I just buy? Luckily I got this with a juicy discount from my favorite reseller, or maybe unlucky? Since now I cannot get a refund. This game's trailers showed something with a promise of epic proportion, a game that requires skill. Instead you get bitesized chunks of mindless attack button spam in each single mission. As long as there is only one of the giants (Ravenii) around, you do not need to worry about anything. Destroy their armor, chop of their limbs which regenerate, rinse…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →NOT worth $60. The game is very repetitive, everything is literally the same. It hurt.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are some neat ideas in Extinction, but they're buried so deep under boring repitition that they rarely ever amount to anything. Go get Attack on Titan 1 & 2 or Shadow of the Colossus instead, they're actually worth your time and money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great mechanics and action filled gameplay, not one dull moment. This game will keep you on your toes. Unfortunately, it's extremely repetitive and not worth the price asked.

neutral · AI labelView post →I won't lie to you, my first maybe half hour into this game, I was having a blast. Cool idea (though half stolen), decently executed, and genuinely fun to play. Just one problem, it's waaaayy too repetitive and I had to force myself to finish this thing. Now, repetitive gameplay isn't always horrible if your game offers other cool things connected to said gameplay to invest yourself into like story, exploration, rewarding level-up or progression systems, or effectively motivating you to…

The game is plagued with serious, terminal bugs, including failing to launch or frequent crashes to desktop after just a couple of minutes starting the game. The developer is aware of the problem but has chosen not to fix the issues. Extinction is a console (Xbone/PS4) ported third person action brawler, which is fine, these games can work if made well, but Extinction is not…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Is the game a bit clunky? Yes. Is the game a bit odd? Yes. But somehow, the game play flow remains fun. You run around saving people, then running over to defeat GIANT monsters that would seem in place in Attack on Titan. The gameplay loop is simple, but it never stays easy. And the game keeps switching up the monsters so that you have to approach each of the giant ogres differently. For me, this game is great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Extremely repetitive, frustrating gameplay. The combat and even traversal is like an inferior version of the Middle Earth games. Literally every single mission is a defense objective where you have to save a randomly generated town (from several environments that look similar) from "extinction" by preventing the safe percentage from reaching zero. The "open world" is more of a sandbox area to run around and save villagers to gain xp and rune attack points (which is the only way to kill the…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great example of "great idea, bad execution". Fighting against giant monsters is always cool, and cutting off their limbs and heads to kill them is just how things should be. Unfortunately, the controls and gameplay Execution ruin this good idea. Combat against rank & file enemies is boring as hell, as it just consists of the player mashing the attack button. Enemies take way too much damage and offer little reward, beyond being forced to clear out the waves of little bastards lest…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Video review (including score): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uxGr3zBaxk Extinction is basically a budget Attack on Titan game. It may have some nice graphics and run really well, but what you are left with after that is just a boring mess of a game. Pros: Nice graphics. The art style in particular is probably the game’s greatest strength. It is a sort of cartoon style and looks really good in motion. Perhaps that is why the trailers and such make the game look better than it is. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The word I would use to describe this game is: Arbitrary. This game oozes rushed and low budget. There are many faults with it. During my playthrough I never once experienced a crash, plenty of glitchiness though. Since this game is supposed to be all about jumping, grappling and combat, the controls should be the most important part, well, they are loose and clunky. You don't have much control of your character while in mid air, even after unlocking some of the skills that assist for…

neutral · AI labelView post →So in the intro cutscene we are shown early on how incoherent the plot is. For some reason our protagonist starts off by saying that for as long as she could remember mankind was at war with itself. After this someone (who I assume is her father is shot by a stray arrow and subsequently dies). Then our protagonist goes on to say how she was put in a labor camp (why? I'm not sure but maybe it's because her father was on the losing side of the war). She then meets the player character Avil whom…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really have mixed thoughts about the presentation of this game: On the Pros: >Visually pleasing art style >Runs smooth >Has decent voice acting >Very reminiscent of Darksiders HacknSlack meets Attack on Titan Cons: >The way you save civilians is boring and difficult >The way the story is presented is....minialistic and at times, out of left field >The ogres one shot you even if you're not even close to where they struck at times >You have to pay to upgrade your minimap (yes you read this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool in theory, but game is pretty shallow, graphics look nice, controls are simple (there isn't much you can do though). Plays through chapters, with a few missions (or w/e they're called) each, with the missions being like ~10 mins each(?). Easy to die to the big guys, little guys don't seem to be any trouble. In retrospect, the low filesize of like 2 GB should have been a warning about the amount of content... If the price wasn't $60, I'd recommend, but it's way over-priced for what it…

neutral · AI labelView post →Despite bad reviews, I like its bright, colorful, cartoonish graphics. So when I saw it on sale for less than $2, I said why not. In short: Is it the worst game ever? No. But negative things that many reviewers said about this game are true and it will annoy the sh** out of you. Pros: - At 60 fps, the performance is steady. - When things click, you'll feel like a god. Every sword swing that severs a Ravenii's limb is satisfying. It’s good enough that the repetitive nature of the game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is so bad that I ended up refunding it. For some reason steam still allows me to write a review for it, so there it is. It's nowhere near worth the price they're asking for, the game is extremely repetitive and the gameplay isn't that interesting, while the gameplay works well enough (for the most parts) it's way too limited and that doesn't help with the repetitiveness of the whole thing. The story is... just not interesting, you'll never feel invested in it and pretty much all…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a good game, very repetitive, but good. The issue is that this is a premium indie game priced at AAA. It's not worth more than $30 with all the dlc, and even that feels like it's pushing it. Had it come out at a resonable price for the depth of availibe content, this would be amazing, but the $60+dlc price tag leaves a bitter taste
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a boring - simple puzzle - arcade - overpriced game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great looking, smooth gameplay but lack luster. The sea of thieves of action games, it plays well but ultimantly there is absolutely nothing but the same three things to do over and over. Fight small monsters, save humans through a crystal then fight giant monster with varying armor types. Every mission is just that with differing amounts of the same monster type (sometimes colored different!) to fight. Its not the worst thing I have ever played but it is def a 3/10. Dont buy this until…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a dull game. Ten minutes into the campaign and you have seen everything the game has to offer. Every single mission is the same as the first 3 missions. All you do is run to crystals, button mash enemies, hold E to rescue citizens, repeat. When you have enough energy destroy the big orc's armor and cut its head off. Mission complete. Repeat the same for every other mission. It's fun at first but when you realise you have to do that for every single mission in the game, and there are quite…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a lot of the reviews say, repetitive is an understatement. Some might say that the combat is fun but it definitely isn't. Run to portal hold button, button mash small enemies, cut armour/limb/head of giant orc and repeat. Movement is a bit clunky, combat is just button mashing basically. Not worth price on sale and most definitely not worth full price, not even close.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dont waste ya money on this crap. pretty expensive for the trash you get
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game, unfortunately, is trash. They could've make so many good things with it, but they simply did a rinse and repeat for every single level.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm going to be honest, I actually kind of enjoyed Extinction, but not to the extent of wanting to recommend it, so I'll explain myself. Extinction is a game about Avil, who you play as, and Xandra, who is your partner giving you directional queues and doing story work in the background, where you fight off the monsters known as the Ravenii, which seek to bring extinction to the human race. There are some different types of missions you'll come across such as saving civilians from Jackals,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do you enjoy hitting small, fast moving targets with a very short range dash attack on enemies that 1-shot you? It's like Attack on Titan, Assasin's Creed and Shadow of the Colossus had a deformed, inbred baby that grew up on a steady diet of lead paint chips.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At the first glance this game looks really nice. A cool art style, a nice concept and a game dev that might not be known for this type of games but known for being a decent to good gamedev. This game brings some nice ideas to the table. It's a fast paced game that is great to learn and has some very fluid and responsive inputs. The game mode ideas are nice and it's a cool addition to the storymode. Unfortunately the best controls won't help you when you get hit by an attack, where you can't…

Was checking my Facebook for some saved links and I saw the saved trailer for this. An Attack on Titan rip-off? Why not? Decided to get the Deluxe edition because it was on sale. Holy ♥♥♥♥ that was a bad idea. First off, the controls are hit or miss. It feels cool to throw enemies up in the air, but when 10 others spawn and start killing the villagers you're supposed to save, you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Poorly thought out action game sold on an intent of action, fighting, and skills but doesn't really deliver on any of it, throws it out of the window to give it a forced objective, has the goblins destroying the city and killing people while your still in a cutscene bringing down your completion total before the dialogue is even over, hardly has much in the combat at all, but still tries to sell itself like its an action combat game... Avoid this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's £55. (although I got it for free) The game itself isn't the worst thing ever but the combat doesn't feel in anyway satisfying, the only times I had fun in this game was when I decapitated huge ogres and jumped around the buildings. The level design feels like it's the exact same map again and again but with buildings placed differently. The dialogue was pretty bad and I got no real insight on to what the characters were like besides the main guy being the last of the "sentinels" and being…
