What players are saying
Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 28 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mixed (57 of 87 positive).
Some players find the game a decent, cheap platformer with an interesting story and atmosphere. [1][2][3] Others criticize the controls, performance issues, and lack of polish. [4][5][6] A few reviewers call it a poor imitation of Limbo with asset-flip quality. [7][8]

Absolutely rubbish platformer. You run around these similar looking dark levels with random figures flying around hitting switches without much of a story. The main problem is the one thing that should be good, the platforming. You run around these big open levels with long platforms and environments to reach, with a ton of backtracking, but your guy walks like he's stuck in quicksand. Theres no run option, and it …

Fallen is a 2D retro platformer and unabashed ripoff of the highly successful puzzle platformer, Limbo, right down to the dark foreground/coloured background theme distinctive of the game (and that's been ripped off by so many "amateur" hacks since, because it's easy to do, and "amateur" developers are lazy). Of course this one is terrible, and it's pretty close to being an asset flip. It was slapped together with …

Preview negative review: Ok, I played until the 4th level, mainly because I love platformers. The good: - It's a platformer. - It has a kind of interesting story. - The music sets a good atmosphere (for a while) The bad: - You can't skip dialogs or "cut-scenes" (extremely frustrating if you are repeating a level because you died) - There are some platforms that are unnecessarily slow, and if you fall you have to …

To be honest, I don't quite know why this game has so many bad reviews. I may have played it for only 52 minutes so far, and it's quite fun and all. I mean, of course it has it's ups and downs, but again, in my opinion it's a pretty cool, fun, and hard indie game, with an alright story. Also, it costs like 2 dollars, what did y'all expect? Of course it won't be as good as some newly released game that costs over …

Fallen developed and published by BT Studios is a modest, retro-inspired side-scrolling platformer that builds its experience around a simple premise and a straightforward gameplay loop. It follows a father’s descent into dangerous territory in search of his lost child, a narrative setup that provides emotional motivation without becoming overly complex. While the story remains mostly in the background, it gives …

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →xbox one controllers using wireless dongle do not function correctly. It only recognized one and defaulted the first player to keybaord in multiplayer battle. If there is a way to change that it isn't clearly listed. Might be good for the single player platforming. May work flawlessly with other controllers though. Also menus aren't controllable with controller, but it does say partial controller support not full so that is a given I guess.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →We bump into this in Fallen London sometimes, which is a game very heavy on trying to make interesting and asymmetric choices BUT is also a game with an economy and which people commit to playing for very long spans of time, so I suppose I'm used to having to weigh these things up.
