Critics, per Wikipedia
The Nintendo Switch version of Farmagia launched at #8 on Japanese charts, selling 4,296 physical copies within its first three days of release, making it the only new release to chart in the top ten games sold that week. The game received "mixed or average" reviews according to review aggregator Metacritic. Reviewing the Switch version, Paulo Kawanishi of Nintendo Life praised the character designs, writing, and technical performance. However, he criticized the farming aspect of the game, noting the lack of variety regarding the designs of its dungeons, monsters, and the farm itself. Leigh Price of Siliconera considered the game to be mediocre, calling its farming and training aspects…

Its essentially a visual novel with every location only accessible through a menu, except for the adventure/quest system which works like a rouge-like for some reason. Game play wise, as I said every location is accessible via a menu with no free roam aspect, similar in style to those gatcha phone games with you selecting the stage you wish to go, and your "Farm" which is in the very name…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Horikoshi's arm would fall off if he ever does another Jump series but if some company is not approaching him right now to do the designs for a game DQ/Shin Sakura Wars/Farmagia style then the entire industry is fumbling

(I also play Anemone, but I couldn't find a pic 😅) This was the very first role I booked after moving to LA, so she's very special to me!
neutral · AI labelView post →Not worth the price. Everything is really repetitive and basic. The story feels like it’s written for 10-year-olds, with characters reduced to absolute clichés. Combat gets messy when there are more than two enemies on the ridiculously small map, and the camera becomes incredibly clunky near the edges. The pool of monsters you can actually use in combat is very small, with reskins everywhere. I enjoy Rune Factory, monster-breeding/catching games, and even Pikmin, but this game doesn’t come…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a BAD game by any means, in fact ive found it fun so far but i will say it probably isnt worth $50. Things i didnt like especially about it are things like forcing you to parry is not fun, i find parry to be usually the hardest or most ignored mechanic in most games at least for me it is for sure and having to rely on it instead of a dodge is kinda sad, the game doesnt have exploration and is on the tracks a little too much so far but im hoping for it to free up soon, if not then ya a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It seems this game's expectations were all over the place. I've heard some people call it a farming game, it's not. You till some soil and water your plants to gain exp and grow monsters to replenish your army but that's it. There's a monster raising aspect to it, basically choosing what stats to increase for each monster team. Some have called it a VN, but it's not that either. The dialogue is told in a vn style way with character portraits standing around talking, but there's not nearly as…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I watched and read many reviews and gameplay before my purchase. On paper this is right up my alley. I like farming, monster taming, and RPGs. I like the mechanics and concepts presented but I HATE the combat. I've played games where I didn’t care for the combat before but the other aspects made up for it. Not this game! It LOOKS simple at first glance, but before long your hands are cramping around your controller from all the forced button modifier attacks and blocks. I played 1.9 hrs…

neutral · AI labelView post →Honestly the game isn’t terrible but it’s definitely too simple to be worth 50 bucks, maybe 20 tops. The game is just so nothing
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, this whole thing is just kinda...a big old nothing burger. There's nothing of heavy substance here, nothing to really recommend. It's all just...mid at best, and bad at worst. The camera is horrid, the farming isn't, the combat is awkward due to the bad camera and block-centric mechanics forcing you to re-send your army out to fight things after every block, the story is godawful boring and one note as well as predictable, the characters are barely baked when they're not just…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't buy this game at full price. while it offers a enjoyable unique experience, i personally feel the game does not offer the depth of content to justify the $50 USD pricetag After spending 80 hours to achieve 100% completion in Farmagia, I have mixed feelings about the experience. Initially, I anticipated gameplay reminiscent of Pikmin, given the emphasis on commanding groups of creatures. However, Farmagia carves its own niche by blending roguelike dungeon exploration with farming…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i knew full well going in this wasnt going to be like rune factory, but tried it anyway to give it a chance....and was i wrong, the game is boring, and it honestly felt very limited, and like a visual novel. combat and farming systems aside from being stale, felt like they were added on afterwards. the only good thing is the graphics(cuz of who drew it of course)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →idle thought after like 3 hours of Farmagia: I think this game genuinely could have done well at the "20 US$ less than AAA" price point...... if it had been on the DS its main competition is that indies have raised standards for games half its price to straospheric levels in the last 15 years
neutral · AI labelView post →Realizing that once Oct 24th comes around I will have 4 weeks of back-to-back game releases (Romancing Saga 2, Sonic X Shadow, Farmagia, M&L: Brothership, Dragon Quest III). Probably need to cancel one or two of them and pick them up later, which would most likely be Sonic & Farmagia
neutral · AI labelView post →After an hour and a half of playing Farmagia, the best way to describe it is a hit-or-miss in terms of people finding it appealing to where it feels like the ~$50 (in USD) was worth spending. In my experience so far, it was a hit. I admit I could actually see some of the cons that other people have already pointed out in reviews that came out before 10AM in Seattle, Washington regarding Farmagia. But at the same time I personally could ignore those cons and enjoy what the game had to offer in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting concept. Very unlike what I expected though as there may be many genres put together but none are fleshed out. Very simplistic. Farming is a minigame, the dungeons are not open-world but have a more "roguelike" concept. Combat is too basic etc...It's a cool idea but it doesn't work for me. It's more VN than JRPG as well. On the plus side, monsters are well designed. This can find a niche playerbase for sure but it's not my jam. I enjoy games like Dragon Quest Monsters, Harvestella…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a terrible game. Horrible looking creatures, terrible graphics, terrible gameplay. It feels like I'm back in 2010 (in a bad way). And I really regret not getting my money back for this piece of crap. P.S. Okay, now I apologize. At the end of the third day I got my cheap back.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was hoping this game would be a bit more open world rather than a dungeon crawl but I am not dissatisfied. This game reminds me a lot of the old Etrian Odyssey games and I am happy with that. You start off with a small piece of land to grow your buddies and when you leave your farm, a selection menu pops up to go to the dungeon (Maze), the tavern, the shop, etc. It is a lot like a visual novel except everything involving the main story is voiced, which I like a lot. The DLC's also help in the…

neutral · AI labelView post →First thing is first, this game is very grindy, from the very early stages of the game this became apparent. I personally do not have an issue with this kind of gameplay but it is definetly worth noting. Second thing is that it is very clear that this game was made for console and then ported to PC, it controls fine enough with a Keyboad and Mouse but you can easily see that a controller was control scheme they were going for. Though you can map some buttons, I did find not being able to…

neutral · AI labelView post →At this point, Hiro Mashima has a whole Mashimaverse because now he has another anime. Farmagia is based on a video game and the character designs are made by Mashima. Also he must really love the name "Oracion Seis" because there's a group with that name in here.
neutral · AI labelView post →I love these weird zero-budget games Marvelous squeaks out when they're busy not making Story of Seasons games. This is, however, emphatically one of the TERRIBLE ones. Even Silent Hope from last year, which was played by yours truly and approximately 2 other people, was better than this. Probably still going to finish it, though. Jank ahoy!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →enjoyed. It's not rune factory, it's its own creature brawler collection game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →bare bones gameplay, corny characters so far, no real depth, 29.99 max is what i would pay for this and honestly only for the art.

neutral · AI labelView post →Its just porting from arena to arena masked as forests, swamps, etc. Combat is sending monsters mostly waiting blocking from time to time. Farming is basic. There's nothing that stands out, so not worth the price.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played a bit more of this before bed last night Final verdict: "Just play Harvestella. It does everything this sets out to do a thousand times better, has stronger characters, and more engrossing mechanics" Farmagia feels way too stripped down to be a great farming game, and Pikmin's right there
negative · AI labelView post →the game is fun, the character design is obviously top tier for all of us that watched fairy tail and edens zero. to be clear, it's not a game like rune factory, it's a stage based action game, with a light dating sim component. i really recomend it, just imagine a pikmin lite combat sistem and cute anime girls... also the twintail one is deliciously thicc 10/10 just for her (maybe wait for a sale)

neutral · AI labelView post →Bought this cuz it got recomended and it was on sale, but i got disappointed, you go everywhere via menu, this is not a game but a visual novel with a few minutes of actual game. If i wanted a visual novel I wouldve installed Love and Deep Space for free and not pay for the pretty much same experience

Tried Stardew (ew) Slime Rancher (loved it) Fantasy Life (obsessed) and now raising channel points for Story Of Seasons 😞 Saw Farmagia for $20 which is a cozy game but also a decent JRPG Apparantly + more stream game giveaways

It's basically Pikmin meets Pokemon Mystery Dungeon with a sprinkle of cozy farming. I was honestly surprised how little of farming you do in this game
positive · AI labelView post →I finally managed to watch at least one episode of everything I was interested in. Dropped: - Link Click (just didn't, er, click with me) - Farmagia (too much game showing at the seams, not enough depth, protag is an idiot) - Greatest Alchemist (not good enough to survive having slavery treated as acceptable) - Fruit Master (just mediocre all over) - I Want to Escape from Princess Lessons (denial of the main character's agency to an extent that's downright icky) - Magic Maker (um, dude, I…

neutral · AI labelView post →I also completed Farmagia over the weekend and honestly this one was terrible. I was looking forward to it because it's a promo for the game, which looks interesting in a Pokemon sense. The art (from Hiro Mashima who did Fairy Tail and Groove) was mostly generic and bland. 1 of 2

neutral · AI labelView post →Still working through Farmagia, and sure the story is interesting enough, but the gameplay has gotten really stagnant. It wasn't too hard to get the hang of, but not getting any exciting. Game is a little too long for this, and I guess they are making a show next year too?
neutral · AI labelView post →This game is fun if you like a lot of story and some grinding to collect all the monsters. If you don't like navigating menus instead of exploring a town then you might not enjoy this game as much. It isn't perfect by any means but I do think it's worth your time if you enjoy controlling buddies to fight monsters for you. The combat isn't too difficult as long as you guard when necessary and use the other mechanics to your advantage. I played on normal and the hardest fight I had was the very…

neutral · AI labelView post →Not worth $50, worth $15. This is a basic, not cult-classic PS2/PS3 era style JRPG/Monster type game but slightly updated in systems. It's not going to be everyone's up of tea, but if you're from this era, it's enjoyable. 1.5 hrs review: Parrying system is a bit too forgiving, I'm not sure if there's a way to make things more difficult. The story is told, not shown through figurative talking puppets, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. The menus upon menus with an unintended feeling of…
