Counted from the reviewers’ own thumbs up/down on the 90 English Steam reviews we collected, not by the AI. Valve’s all-language rating: Mostly Positive (134 of 175 positive).
Players praise it as an updated version of Europa Universalis II with improved mod support and historical events. [1][2][3] Some reviewers note the game is no longer in development and has stability issues. [3][4][5]

I've actually enjoyed what I've played of this game, but I can't recommend it in its current state, especially since it's unlikely ever to be updated or patched. One of the tutorials is completely broken. The game is stuck on pause and won't continue until an action is completed that requires unpausing. This is frustrating, but not as bad as one of the bundled mods, AGCEEP, causes the game to crash WHENEVER YOU TRY …

You have in front of you the final update and ultimate achievement of the Europa Universalis I/II formula. You see, when in 2007 EU3 came out, it was... bad. I mean, REALLY bad. It was broken. Featureless. A big step back from EU2, that came out in 2001. The first big expansion of EU3 came out THREE MONTHS later. And even after another one in 2008 (when the game was repackaged under the "EU3 Complete" name) it was a …

For those megalomaniacs who love Grand Strategy games and want to change to try out some 15th-18th century alternative history; this game just can't be beat. PLVS VLTRA mod comes highly recommended - comes with a whole new world map, with 3x the amount of provinces, and includes the AGCEEP mod too - which gives you quite literaly - 10,000 or so historical events covering this time-period. Serious amount of …

A lot of people will disagree, but imo this is the best Europa game out there. Based off EU2, it has over 10,000 events and a timeline from 1399 all the way to 1821. if you can look past graphics it'll certainly be an enjoyable game. oh and Byzantium forever!

For The Glory A Europa Universalis Game is a very aptly named game. It is, essentially, a collection of advances made in the Europa Universalis II modding scene bundled together and sold as a full game. And while For The Glory is a great experience it is also an experience you can get from playing regular Europa Universalis II and installing a bunch of mods. Players who liked For The Glory: A Europa Universalis Game talk about rich historical events and flavor; those who didn't talk about frequent crashes and bugs. Which matters more to you?
Critics, per Wikipedia
For the Glory received mixed reviews. Reviewers highlighted its historical immersion, improved graphics and interfaces, and plethora of historical events as major draws for fans of the series. Conversely, they cited the crash-prone multiplayer, some tedious management aspects, and annoying sound effects as drawbacks. It was called, "an improvement from EU II..." and "...more than a mega-patch but less than a new game...". Despite the supremely disappointing multiplayer experience, For the Glory manages to greatly improve upon Europa Universalis II. The visual improvements, better tooltips, helpful reminder icons, and thousands of new events make For the Glory superior to its venerable…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an updated version of Europa Universalis 2, and is unfortunately not in serious development any more. The most recent beta patch is from December 31st, 2013. While this is an update to the predecessor game to EU3/EU4, they are quite dissimilar. Paradox had a distinct vision when creating EU2 compared to EU3/EU4. A lot of time was spent on trying to model historic events in EU2(FTG) and this is enhanced with the included AGC-EEP mod. While EU3/EU4 are designed from the ground up to be…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game, this series, is a lot to take in. Grand strategy games can be a ton of fun, but you have to be willing to put in the time to learn how to play the game before you can truly enjoy the game. Europa Universalis basically allows you to reshape history, starting from somewhere in the 1400's up to the early 1800's (Although mods can make it so you can go on indefinately). My first game I tried to take over the world starting as England. I ended up getting conqured by France and whoever…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a own nich of the EU series, but it lake many of the functionality that the later expansions of EU II and III introduced, not to mentioned EU 4. When it came as a mod to EU II this was an improvement but its improvements has been adapted and improved by the expansions to EU II and III. If you don't have a really limited computer capacity buy the later series in the EU series with expansions.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a hot broken mess. No matter the mod selection or if choosing vanilla un-modded game, it crashes upon startup and there was no gameplay time at all. I am well aware that I could take 5-10 steps to jump through hoops to try and make the game work, but if the game out of the box crashes and requires lengthy optimization work-arounds on the part of the player (and customer!), then this game should be shelved by Steam until it is ready to play upon purchase. I would gladly change this…

neutral · AI labelView post →I really wanted to like this game, but can't recommend it. A simplified EU with a focus on history sounds great, and in some ways it is. You'll learn a lot about history in this game and I find the core game much easier to pick up than EU4. That said, the events are sometimes too inconsitent with what you can do in game. For example, I got an event that told me how Christopher Columbus sailed across the ocean to found colonies. The game gives me an explorer, Christopher Columbus, but not any…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a good game if you played and enjoyed Europa Universalis I & II as it is an improved version of it. Pros: Lots of nations to choose from, from every corner of the world. Historical accurate events for the major nations that will give you a feel of the nation history. Different scenarios influenced by major periods of European history Cons: Outdated graphics (But I still think they are quite ok for the gamer focused on grand strategy) Gamers not experienced on Paradox Games will…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An amazing strategy game. Not as complex as the newer Europa Universalis games but still very deep and fun. I totally recommend this game to any paradox fan.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have wasted far too many childhood hours of mine on this gem of a game to leave a negative review. Some games are so good and addicting they can ruin your whole life, and this is definitely one of them. What is For the Glory? Essentially the same as Europa Universalis II, with a Vanilla+ style mod included, packaged and sold as a separate game. For all intents and purposes, they can be considered the same game, with For the Glory only having some quality of life features and historical…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game simply refuses to run properly and crashes as soon as I try to start a scenario. I've tried all proposed fixes and it still doesn't work. And guess what - I'm not the only one. To anyone interested in buying this game: Don't do it, you'll get sort of scammed. A broken game shouldn't be on Steam, especially when the publisher doesn't give a damn about it (and FTG isn't the only Paradox game with this issue).
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its a hopped up and fresh version of eu2. too bad the old skoolness of it keeps me away and focused on eu3. if ur new to the games play for the glory first. plus this and victoria have great in game history lessons that the newer game sdont have.

neutral · AI labelView post →For the Glory has some amusing in-game hints without context like, "Promote Mayors to fight inflation."
positive · AI labelView post →There few easy choices in whatever nation you play. Unlike later versions of EUniversalis there are no missions that seem to make for unrealistic outcomes or massive overpower situations. Game is virtually bug free. Playing the merchant game can be a drag at times but it's very rewarding and not straightforward at all. This would be the main overpower element of this version of EUniversalis. Music and game itself overall very good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love PDX and I have played pretty much all of their games. But to this one, I have no real opinion. I did not get warm with it. I did not like it and besides that, it crashes a lot. It crashes after ending a campaign, sometimes while loading one. It crashes sometimes when trying to load a tutorial or after setting up a game. All that combined, led me to give this a negative review. I also own all of the Europa Universalis and Victoria games. Same time line but more stable, better graphics…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I did not like this game at all. I thouht it was a bit bland compared to the other Grand-Strategy games out there. However, some dedicated Europa Universalis players may enjoy the game due to its overwhelming similarities with Europa Universalis II. I may not be pairing the games correctly, but when I bought the game I was looking for something like Total War. I chose it because it was a more recent release of 2011, but the game grandly failed to graphically compare to most other current games…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to play EU2 again. I bought EU2 on GOG but frankly that version runs ass without resolution changing support. For the Glory seems better. Otherwise, why play EU2 when there are EU3, EU4, EU5? Because simplicity has a charm. The depth is real, not lots of added complexity for the sake of it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best Europa Universalis game since EU2. Forget about EU IV, worship the only and true EU game: For The Glory!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best Europa Universalis game, now with patches after so many years.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Play this instead of EU I or II
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →• This is the best game out of the franchise. EU3 and 4 complicated things to a degree where I no longer had fun with it. This game is not easy, but it's a lot of fun. • The game will crash on you every now and then (it's an old game). Make sure you save your game often!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent game that goes on the path according to historical events. But it is simple compared to EU4 and it crashes sometimes to desktop.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →could not get it to load properly so is put to the back of the pile, ie for that rainy day but now there are so many games at the back of the pile i think i need a nuclear winter to get through them!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short Version: Europa Universalis II: But with the bugs ironed out and better mod compatibility so it's VIP QUALITY from that alone. I liked Vanilla EU2, I did not like the occasional CTDs and complexities with using mods. For the Glory irons out both issues, so it's that experience but better. My one issue was lacking the original OST, but I copied that over and solved it on my own. Definitely get this, fam. It's not EU3, arguably the pinnacle of EU I/II/III but if you have a toaster it'll…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I believe For the Glory is a decent game, It had some decent graphics, Pretty good gameplay for the most part, Little hard to control certain aspects within' the game like Game speed but to be honest, Pretty decent. I rate 7.5/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Although this game has old looking graphics, it's not ugly, but antique; making it look classical. Also, the maps are very visually charming, not like that of EU4 or EU3. The game play too is not that bad, as they have massive historical events, which always enhances the pleasure of playing Europa Universalis.

neutral · AI labelView post →Interesting game set in the period from 1419 to the Napoleonic Era. A bit difficult to master, and the gameplay isn’t so easy to a rookie. But decent enough for a wargamer. Besides, it is a good test game for the series. Recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →FTG is IMO one of the better Paradox games. The EU series took a step back with EU3 before leaping forward with EU4. The map is colorful, descriptive and more useable than the later EU3. The game still holds up despite its age. Although my hour total on this one is low, I have many times more hours on the original version EU2, which FTG is a re-release of.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For the Glory: A Europa Universalis Game. The name feels interesting and unique at first, but when you play it, it is essentially like Europa Universalis II. You also have a famed mod known as AGCEEP that is bundled with this game, which makes a game a little above average in modern standards. Positives: - Unique, 'old-but-gold' gameplay style. - Based off the popular Europa Universalis II. - Has a neat 'Fantasia' scenario. - Adds quite a lot of new events and is quite customizable.…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't want to give this game a thumbs down, since it is a really good game, BUT in this state the game keeps crashing and at least one tutoria is bugged out. So if you want to play a grand strategy game I would recommend you go play EUIII.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is really nice, I like historic games but AI is cheating to much and later is frustrating. If I have countries with more than 4 religions forget I win to many rebellious. Computer have no problems even he has 4 religion everywhere its says +4 for stability. My cavalry fighting at the start 5 to 1 on plains vs infantry same technology and I lose. There a lot of stupid things. LIke another one I am in the war my exhausted cause of the war is 9 enemies always 2!!!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unless you have a rig that can't handle EUIV, then don't go back to this game unless you have nostalgia. Works as Darkest Hour (Hears of Iron 2) does with HoI3.
