Many players praise the game's retro style, atmosphere, and soundtrack. [1][2][3] Several reviewers find the combat clunky and the difficulty unfair, especially with rats and prison levels. [4][5][6] Some players enjoy the story and gameplay despite flaws, while others find it frustrating. [7][8][9]

I wanted to like this game. I really did. It's got some cool ideas here and there, the presentation is good, it manages to be decently creepy despite its retro, overhead presentation. The music is solid and atmospheric. And the narrative is interesting. But the game is just downright unfair a lot of the time. I almost quit partway through the fourth level, right before you get your first gun, because of the rats. …

I only plowed through because I already had it. Game has a lot of balancing issues, enemy aims like they know where you are (which they do) and it has a lot of very frustrating moments, not because of actual difficulty, but because of artificially created one. Main example? The dev makes rats not be hit by most projectile weapons (shotgun being the oddity, and it seems due to a bug) so you can only hit them with …

GARAGE: Bad Trip is a brutal, fast-paced action game with a gritty, retro style. The combat is intense, but the controls can be clunky. The story is dark and bizarre, making it a unique experience, though not for everyone.

Its a Mix of Hotline Miami and Silent Hill. Alot of awesome Boss Battles and weapons. I love how some enemies react to damage, I cut an enemies head off and it wandered aimlessly. The trippy Grind house feel is awesome with the grainy VHS look. Love this game and its super fun. The controls are a little clunky and it could use improvement in that area but it takes a little getting used to. But with the lack of …

Oh my, the sound design and soundtrack are amazing.

This track is so beautiful 🥹 the synths have such a bright and upbeat sound to them, they give off happy vibes 😊 the drums are bumping as well, and the various Nodon sounds are so adorable 😭 it's an amazing track!
positive · AI labelView post →Hidden in the files of Game Builder Garage, there's an unused node called "Corkler". This node had many general functions, all of which require complex understanding of computer sciences. This would have made the game Turing complete, and it is currently unknown why it is unused.

positive · AI labelView post →This track is called "Checkpoints"! ngl I don't remember much about Game Builder Garage 😅 the game was mainly built around creating games, and it was super confusing to me 😵💫 that being said, they were some really cool games that were created with it, and the OST was awesome! It was a cool concept!

neutral · AI labelView post →Dealing dope to decaying deadites is a dirty deed indeed. Pretty darn solid top down survival horror shooter... so far a bit on the easy side but it's more engaging than I thought at first.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got it from humblebundle, played from start to finish wanting to like it but can't recommend. I like the graphics, it's a well built game overall, no bugs found. Little but ok exploration, you can just power through the game without collectibles, I like that you have the choice Constant automatic saves, which helped limit frustration at times. Nevertheless, story is fragmented and a bit dull and I just did not like any of the characters or dialogs. Level design is random, goes from linear, to…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can't really recommend it. Played it on the deck, runs flawlessly at 60fps with low tdp around 5w or less, right out of the box. The main reason i can't recommend it, it's that the game itself it's not really enjoyable due to balancing at least for me, even playing on easy felt much harder than some other twin stick shooters, for example some boss fights were easier than regular areas, due to ammunition placement, also weapons for some reason can only hold a small amount of bullets per…

neutral · AI labelView post →The stiff and janky combat are bad enough that I can't recommend this one. It would've been fine if the game stuck to survival horror tropes, but in the middle of Chapter 3 it ditches that for all out action. The low max ammo count (14/mag and 42 held in an M16, really?) and frustrating melee hit-boxes (if zombies hit you once, they'll usually hit you twice) make combat feel awful. It gets worse when you're frequently confronted by corner-peeking gun battles when human enemies make their…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →GARAGE: Bad Trip is a 2D top-down, twin-stick shooter with the survivor horror theme filled with lots of gore. I liked the game premise and the story it wants to tell. There are a variety of enemies, locations, 3 boss fights (plus a mini boss that spawns three or four times), and secrets to be explored. After halfway through, there are four types of challenge sections that get unlocked (access through the main menu). The first three challenges have seven stages, and the last one has six…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i think the ONLY place ive EVER seen epileptic people be properly catered for is fucking Game Builder Garage which dims the screen if it detects too much average change between frames. is it seriously THAT hard to just add an optional feature like that to your social media apps??
neutral · AI labelView post →I was hoping it will be like hotline miami but it's wacky boring story based game imo not worth it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If it wasn't mired by terrible controls and jarring sound mixing, GARAGE: Bad Trip could have been a pretty good game. The game is very spooky atmospherically-speaking and the graphics are....fine. However, the player movements and attack animations are so clumsy and awkward that effectively managing combat becomes the real nightmare!

I've completed both Hotline Miami games and all Dark Souls games so I love challenge but yeah, didn't enjoy this Developers did a great job with design it just didn't flow for me sorry :/
